Unfortunately their food was just okay; I think it may be because I've been to Greece and they have the best Greek food I've ever had (makes sense) so the bar is high. I was craving the fried cheese, but it tastes like a knock off version of what it should be. I'm not sure if it's because the cheese doesn't taste right, or the phyllo wasn't light and crispy enough or what, but I would never order it again. I know a lot of Greek restaurants out here use a faux feta to save costs so I'm wondering if that was the case here as well. The el Greco salad also could've been better. I ordered on DoorDash when I was craving some Greek food and realized it was close by, so took a leap of faith- ordered the chicken gyro bowl, side of pita, and baklava. The bowl is a good size- I would say the flavors are a bit underwhelming but it's not bland if that makes sense- I would have liked a little more of a punch of flavor. Chicken was fine- the rice was a bit undercooked; about 10% of the grains were crunchy. Next time I'd like to try the beeftiki and would ask for extra sauce. Loved the pita- had a nice flavor and seemed fresh. The baklava was my least favorite- it wasn't fresh nor was it crunchy or have a nice flavor. I only took one bite which was disappointing bc it's so expensive ($5.95!) it was dense and just lacked the layers I was hoping to get. Would have to say we've eaten frequently in every Greek restaurant in SJ area but had not made time to visit Greco Grill. It's clean inside and out and enough parking to make getting inside easy. You'll be greeted as you walk in the door and Mia doesn't get any more authentic than having three or four Greek brothers/ friends working counter/ kitchen and laptop. Placed order quickly and waited patiently food takes a few minutes to come out ( 10-15 ) and to me that means FRESHLY MADE! Everything tasted delicious, especially the pita bread and the tzatziki. I get why this spot has great reviews! Employees were friendly and food was made to order. I went with the pork gyro pita ($12.95) and made it a combo (fries and soda +$4.95) and I'm glad I did! The pork in the gyro was crispy and charred on the outside, and tender on the inside. The tzatziki sauce in the gyro went so well with the ingredients. Fries were solid as well. Overall good value for the combo meal - super filling and delicious :) Plenty of seating inside and about 5 tables outside. Absolutely Delicious! Went here with my lovely daughter yesterday for lunch. The two words about describe the food perfectly! We both ordered the gyro plates. Heaping portion of delicious browned juicy flavorful crispy pork pieces piled on your plate. Served with either French fries or rice. Plus some salad and pita bread. The fries are wonderful! No idea what oil they fry them in but they are super tasty! Just enough crunch with a light pillowy airy inside to them. Super yummy! The service was very good as well! You place your order and go find a nice table to sit at. While sitting you get to hear the hunger inducing clatter of plates and the clanking of the spatula working the pork on the griddle. You also get to smell the deliciousness as it wafts through the restaurant causing your tummy to grumble. When the orders are finished, the gentleman grabs the plates and ferries them to the patiently waiting diners. Every time the gentleman grabbed the finished orders, my daughter and I would sit up straight in our seats hoping he was carrying our feasts. (Now I know how my dog feels when I'm preparing his dinner) Once the plates were gently set down in front of us, all conversations ended. The only sound you could hear was the sound of chewing. I've come here twice over the years and both times it's been fine, but nothing special. The most recent time I visited I had a hankering for Mediterranean food, this was on the way home from where I was going so I decided to stop here. I was so ready for a nice big rice plate, but then I looked at those menu prices and decided a Chicken souvlaki pita it would be! It came loaded with two skewers that had a nice char to them. Don't know what the sauce on the pita sandwich was but it was really flavorful....messy too, I was covered in it by the time I was done eating. The food is fresh and the meat seems that it is cooked to order, but it still seems to be pricey for what it is. Maybe it's the fact that it's located next to a 711 and a donut shop, that I just feel like I'm paying too much. I love that the Chicken Gyro was not salty, that is always a plus, although, i thought it could use just a little bit more of whatever spices they typically use.... But yes, no complaints... it was a nice serving of meat and rice. The only reason why i didn't give it a 5 was because i thought it was a bit overpriced for the gyro plate. The typical price for the same entree in a similar setting would be between $15-$18. We're currently vegetarian for lent, so didn't try any of their meat dishes, which we wonder if those would have been better From their appetizers we had the Melitzanosalata, which was a mashed eggplant dip. It's heavier on the pepper flavor (and is reddish), with a tinge of spiciness. We had their falafel wrap- I liked the fresh soft pita, and the falafel was well done. Otherwise, the wrap was a bit flavorless, but the he tzatziki sauce helped and I wish there was more of that in the wrp. We also tried one of their specials which which was the plant based meat patty wrap. This was borderline gross. It looked kind of like a impossible patty, but it was so soft and mushy inside. This place never disappoints. Whenever I come by here, I make it a point to stop by and grab something. My favorite thing to order are the soups. The lentil and the avgolemono are top not notch, humble, and full of flavor. Their service is friendly and quick. Their ambiance is low key, tucked in the corner of greatness. Still needs more sauce. 8/10 Pork Gyro Bowl $14.95 - large amount of rice! Veggies were fresh and pork was a mix of tender and juice pieces and tough and dry pieces. Overall pretty good and would get again. 8.5/10 Pork Souvlaki Pita Wrap $14.95 - came with very little fries but there was more flavor in this wrap than other ones (maybe because more cheese). Star of the wrap was definitely the pork! It's one skewer of pork belly that was so juicy! Perfect ratio of meat to fat and cooked well! Not dry at all. I lived close by and I have no idea what took me so long to come here! This place is a hidden gem! I loved the big Horiatiki Salad large enough to feed 2, the fries and pita bread were made fresh to order, Souvlaki Skewers were so flavorful. I initially wanted lamb but they did not have available. I had the pork gyro wrap. The pita was rock hard and inedible. It was folded in half like a book, so calling it a wrap isn't accurate. The gyro spit heater was off but rotating, so they reheated the meat on the grill. Next to the bread discs they refer to as Pita which appeared to be defrosting. I grew up in Toronto, surrounded by excellent Greek food, so know what it's supposed to taste and eat like. Not this. The good? Fresh veggies. Lots of tzatziki with pretty decent garlic. My boyfriend and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon after a hike nearby. The restaurant was pretty empty, but they had a lot of take out orders. You order and pay before getting your food. They have a large menu with variety of items so it is pretty overwhelming. I could see the restaurant getting pretty busy and I think it would be awkward waiting in line to order while you're near tables of people eating. I got the beef plate with rice which was delicious. The beef was cooked perfectly where it was pink instead and soft. My boyfriend got the chicken skewer plate and we thought the chicken was dry. We also got a side of fries and tzatziki sauce as appetizer and thought it was expensive for the portion. Our cost for two entrees and two appetizer came out to ~$70. I enjoyed the food but it is a pretty pricey restaurant. The staff are nice, and brought the food out quickly. The restaurant itself is super clean and modern looking. It came with beef skewers, pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and your choice of rice or fries (I got rice, it was a little plain but it mixed well with the meat). Yum, the beef was perfectly seasoned and was perfect with the tzatziki sauce. One little container of tzatziki sauce was not enough and I recommend you to order extra sauce! This plate had good portion and it shared between two people, but I could have eaten it all by myself cause it was so delicious. Hehe ;) Next time I'll be ordering a plate just for myself cause it's sooo good! Keep in mind it can get busy during lunch time. I love a business that picks a segment of the market and just try's to excel there and not pretend to be something it is not. Ambiance here is basic but exceptionally clean. As I write that I think that description fits the food as well. We had a nice conversation with the staff on duty, Nick, he noticed that we had above average knowledge of the cuisine, and he explained that the owners are true to the style of their corner of their home island. It worked for us. Ingredients were basic and fresh, the flavors authentic and the portions generous but not overwhelming.
