The decor is a simple black and white with pictures of what I presume are of the family who own the establishment and upon entering smells clean (like soap) and welcome. The Fakes soup was very delicious (I finished every spoonful) and the salad that I got with the vegetarian pita wrap was perfectly seasoned. I was also very pleasantly happy to find that the vegetables were all very fresh and crunchy! Their rice pudding was quite good as well. I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have never had a bad experience. Their location isn't ideal and people probably second guess giving it a try since it is in a weird shopping center with a 7-11, but I promise you you want to give this place a try! Then when I called them when I got home, they tried to call me a liar and say that there was none in there. I remember the first time we had El Greco Grill was in Cupertino. The food was very delicious and high quality!!! We moved closer to West San Jose, so we are closer to there original Campbell location. My wife was excited to see it on Door Dash and decided to order tonight. We got two pork gyros, Greek salad and baklava. The good news is the quality seems to still be there. The bad news is the pork gyro meat tonight was very salty and overpowering all the other fresh ingredients in the pita. I wish I could give this zero stars. We order from here very frequently, and will not EVER be back. My bowl is usually overflowing with huge pieces of tomato, cucumber, and feta cheese. My husband's gyro bowl only had meat, no veggies or rice. He was told that they ran out of rice... at 5:45. How does that make sense? When we called to complain, we were told to leave a bad review because they "don't give a shi*", and were hung up on. Absolutely awful service and establishment! It's Greek to me. To others as well, considering two Greek kids at my school recommended this place, and the place were full of Greeks. It's a little too bright for me (to me: dim lights are classier and bright lights give it a sterile, strip mall, interrogation room feel) but my girlfriend liked how bright and clean it looked, matching the modern, open, and minimalist scene. I was surprised hummus wasn't an appetizer. Instead we got tyrokafteri which was as good as it is unpronounceable: whipped feta with peppers. It only came with four pita pieces, but we were offered more. We opted for gyros instead of plates. The falafel was flavorful and crunchy, though it seemed dry to my girlfriend who doesn't like it so hard (thank god). The chicken souvlaki gyro with yummy tzatziki and yummy, heavily- seasoned fries is good... though it might be better if the 3 or 4 pieces of chicken skewer were chopped up for dispersal for more even bites. Some bites were just a layer of onion. (I like onions so no harm). Of my 1600 reviews or so this is the first time I used the word dispersal. The sandwich comes with a honey mustard sauce. I recommend that you get it on the side. That way you can dip your gyro in the honey mustard or the cool tzatziki or any leftover appetizer tyrokafteri. read more

I called to see if they would be able to accommodate my gluten free restriction due to health issues. The Chef did not know what gluten is and referred to it as vegan or dairy free diet. This is extremely concerning to me as he is the head chef. The people who were helping were extremely rude and unhelpful. If you have allergies or health related diet restrictions I would highly recommend to avoid this place. My brother suggested El Greco Grill and it was next to Maple Leaf Donuts, that I stopped by earlier that morning. My brother and sister-in-law commented how much they enjoy the food here, so we ordered lunch and picked it up and brought it back. My brother and sister-in-law split the Brizola. It came with a large serving of grilled pork, pita bread and a green salad. It was plenty for the both of them to share. I snagged a chunk and the pork was tender and seasoned nicely. I enjoyed a Chicken Souvlaki Pita and fry, while my son ordered a Pork Souvlaki Pita and fry. These pita's were fairly large and filled with meat, onions and tomatoes. The pita were a bit thicker than some I've had, which was good, since they weren't shy with the amount they stuffed inside. A thinner pita would have fallen apart and ruined the dish. Both pita's were really good and quite filling. We also really enjoyed the fries, especially with the seasoning they used. Came here for a small bite while waiting for someone and chose a salad and a small garlic fries. On the menu it said they cut their own potatoes everyday and the garlic version was on special. The salad I picked up was the Hira...something. Salad which is a block of feta on top of a bed of peppers, tomatoes and olives with a glug of EVOO (blessed Mediterranean diet) yum. What took me by surprise were the garlic fries! They were fresh and filled with raw chunks of garlic even though it was close to closing time! Like CHUNKS. Total beast mode when eating this. they were telling the truth when they said they cut the potatoes in house - it was epic. The Beef Souvlaki Pita is actually 6 small beef skewers, that were tasty but a little dry, 6 french fries, onion, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce wrapped in a pita. The pita was awesome! So I settled on the vegeterian pita ($9.5) and made it a "healthy" combo by adding the Marouli salad + soda ($4.5). The veggie pita was actually quite good, as it was filled with Tyrokafteri (Hot Pepper and Cheese Dip), fries, 'maters and lettuce enveloped in a soft, warm PiTa. The price point is a bit high for what it was, but it was tasty. I didn't realize the "marouli" is Greek for Romaine lettuce, because it sure was mostly Romaine lettuce. Not sure why the add-on price was so high for mostly lettuce and low-grade olive oil, but lesson learned. Next time I'm getting the fries, which a more reasonable $3.5 upgrade. Deciding on the overall rating for this is a tough one, for sure. As El Greco actually has quite a complete menu for meat-heads, but a very sparse selection for veg-heads, However, it is what it is... I may come back and re-review after I'm back on meat. read more

I was underwhelmed. With all the great reviews, I really had pretty high hopes for a mouthwatering meal. I popped in on Sunday around 1:30pm. There were several people in the dining area which was a good sign since it was kinda after the lunch rush. It also looks like it's family run. I placed my order with the very nice young girl at the register. She repeated my order so fast that I wasn't sure I understood her completely but I just said thanks, paid and sat at a small table to wait for my order to-go. Okay, so my order look forever .... seriously ... FOREVER to come out. Possibly the pork Slovakia? Anyway, it was way to long for take-out. Here's what I ordered: Pork souvlaki Wrap - pork was tough and cold. Pork Gyro Wrap - Better than the souvlaki but so full of white onion that it overpowered everything else. Lemon Soup - this was actually delicious. tzatziki Sauce - Really good. I'd order it again. Overall I don't think I'd come back which is a bummer. The food was just okay and I think the prices are pretty high for the location and quality. After paying $22 for a chicken plate (before tax, tip, and +$5 if you wanted a drink/side) I had expected one of either the quality or portions sizes to match the cost, but instead left feeling dissapointed in my lackluster meal. The food is very expensive. It's around $20 for a single portion. The chicken is hit or miss, I've been here a hand full of times and when it's good it is juicy and flavorful, but when it's bad it is extremely dry, burnt to a crisp and basically inedible. So you're spending $20 on a plate of burnt chicken and some fries and bread. If they keep their quality consistent, I'd consider going back more often but until then this will be a last resort option for me. read more
