On the Lamb Anyone remember the halal street cart craze of about 10-15 years ago? It all started in NYC with the Halal Guys and worked its way here to Cali in the form of both copycats and the legit Halal Guys brick-and-mortar at The Plant. One of those was a street cart that used to be at the SW corner of E San Carlos St and S 2nd St called "Agha's Gyro Express." I had a legit obsession with them, as I would stop and get a plate of their lamb over rice every chance I could, but after a while, as foodies are known to do, I had moved on to my next obsession. I returned back a few years ago to try them out again and was sad to see them not there anymore. But, after a little research, I quickly discovered that they had opened up not one--but two brick-and-mortar restaurants. Huzzah! The Good: *They've expanded the menu beyond just plates, as they now have burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and even a Philly cheesesteak. *Friendly service *Fast-casual order and pay at the counter, and then they'll deliver it to your table. *Prices were still very reasonable, as they used to be $8/plate, and are now only $12 which is a really great deal for lunch. Can't hardly eat anywhere for ±$20, these days. *You can now take a bottle of their white sauce back to your table and slather away to your hearts content. *The Lamb over Rice tasted a little bit different than I remembered, but if was still scrumptious as the greasy, well-spiced lamb goes harmoniously with their equally greasy and well-spiced rice. Once you add some white sauce to balance it out, it's like heaven on a fork. The Meh: *Shared parking lot (no street parking) but it can get busy on weekdays as it's shared with a bunch of other restaurants, a Mermaid, and some other small businesses. The Ugly: *They have some kind of housemade orange sauce (iykyk) that's supposed to be spicy but I didn't really care for it. I wish they'd bring back the old chili-garlic sauce from back in the day. Conclusion: Delicious, great value, and ice cold sodas. Perfect spot for lunch.

I don't know how to rate... this fully. The reason of me even going here in the first place is because my mother came to town to visit me on my birthday weekend, and she had a craving for chicken. Our options were to be as economical as possible. We were staying a few nights at the Homewood Suites about 3 mins walk around the compound. What I can say, the gentleman taking my order was quick and able to assist me asap. The restaurant was busy, I will give you that. However, I was shocked at how fast my food came out. But, upon my return to our hotel room, while the food had great color contrast, there was so much lacking. There wasn't enough spices to feel the savor of the flavor like the halal places in NY. So I guess that's there I had high expectations. Unfortunately, it really wasn't met, Both my mother and I concluded that the rice was... "wet", I hate using terms along those lines, but it just did. The only thing I really enjoyed was the salad, and that says something because my behind does not eat salad.

I was hoping to get one of those homemade tasting gyro. It really is your average tasting, nothing special gyro. What did stick out was the atmosphere and serves. I ordered a chicken Gyro with no onions, and yes it came with onion mixed in, with the time it took I wasn't about to ask for another one. The table arrangement is difficult to maneuver for a seat, I had to get up and ask for a sauce caddy. It's not a return location for me,.

Just finished my meal at a nearby Thai restaurant when I came upon this amazing halal restaurant serving falafel salad plate, gyro wrap, a combination of lamb, chicken or beef tikka platter along with chicken tenders, burgers and fries. Prices are very reasonable around $14 to $17 with diverse menu items and I chose #7 lamb and chicken on rice salad with lots of mixed veggies for extra carb and lean protein and service has been great no complaints. As I was leaving more people were coming in for take-out orders not too many dine-in customers. This surrounding area is pack and busy parking is a real challenge even on a Wednesday afternoon can't image what is like on the weekends. Would definitely come back for the falafel platter perhaps a baklava or two for $2.99 each.

Okay... so, this place might not look like the fanciest place in the world, but their gyros are incredible. I've eaten here twice, and both times I've eaten the food so quick, I forgot to even take a picture for the review haha. Don't forget to pour the orange sauce on your food generously. It'll be a tad spicy, but absolutely worth it.

They are located in a little strip mall on Alma Ave a few doors down from The Giving Pie. The parking lot is not huge but it we were able to find parking with no problem. The inside is nicely decorated with pictures of famous places in Greece. It's not huge inside but cozy with several tables for inside seating as well as a patio outside for outdoor seating. You can scan the QR code at your table or order at the front counter. We ordered from the front counter. We ordered the highly recommended Mousaka, the 3 piece plate with a side of green Greek salad. We chose the chicken skewer, pork skewer, and bifteki for our 3 meat choices as well as an order of Spanikopita. Our food was delivered to our table promptly. I grew up eating my Mom's Mousaka and I've eaten it in Athens, Naxos and Santorini. Let me tell you, their Mousaka was excellent. The eggplant, potato, meat filling and béchamel on the top were perfect. It's definitely a must try. The three skewers of meat were so flavorful and juicy. Both my husband and I loved it!! The pita bread it came with so warm and soft. The Spanikopita was fresh and hot. Delicious flaky phyllo dough with a savory spinach interior. The salads that came with each dish were also wonderful. Their feta on the top was so good and I loved the Kalamata olives. Customer service here was great. The young lady that helped us when we ordered was very friendly and helpful. It started getting busy inside while we were eating and I can see why. This is delicious homemade Greek food made from the heart. We will be coming here more often, now that we know about this place. There are many other things we are looking forward to trying.

She told him "okay, hold on" and made him wait almost 10 minutes. She ends up giving the order to the wrong person, and when confronted about it, she wasn't apologetic at all. Her excuse? "I didn't hear what he said, that's why I said to hang on." There was another older woman on expo floor who was extremely rude too. After telling her they gave my order to the wrong person, she looked at the other girl and said "you deal with it" and proceeded to ignore us. She also had the audacity to look at me and say "well we didn't do it on purpose." Again, NOT APOLOGETIC AT ALL nor did they take any accountability for their mistake. Neither of them apologized at all or offered to make things right. They completely ignored us and didn't care that they made a mistake. They had no idea what they were doing on expo. They were mixing up orders and getting confused when packing the containers of food. No matter how good the food may be, the extremely rude service and lack of attention to detail prevents me from ever returning here. If you ever order to go, whether it's in person/over the phone/online pick up, MAKE SURE you have the right order before you leave; if you don't get the right order, they won't care to make it right or acknowledge their mistake in the slightest.

The ambiance inside looked really nice, but they didn't want our dog (we don't claim ESA) in the main restaurant. The patio out back was also nice, with a water fountain. Our dog was able to sit under the table and take a nap. The restaurant is BUSY, so the crowd volume was loud, but we could still have a conversation. Behind me was another table and I could hear pretty much their whole conversation. The food was all very good. We did family-style, where we shared all the dishes amongst us. All the while smiling:) I ordered via yelp because we were starving and easily this restaurant has their menu in organized and visually appealing. Their descriptions and the variety of selections and customizations on point. My husband said he wasn't hungry but then saw the food and we scarfed it all down. He gave it 8.5 and said would come back. I ordered pickled vegetables which I thought was going to be onions but I think it's actually cabbage. Not my preference so I will take that home to the parents. Did order yogurt dip- husband was a fan. The chicken thigh and filet were so tender. I had put a note on the order for medium rare. I wouldn't call that medium rare but it was tender nonetheless. I'm sad I had to pay extra for a half of a Roma tomato, salad and lavash- the lavash I saw it in the add-ons menu so I assumed it wasn't in there. Ended up with so much lavash. No need to buy extra. The entire thing came up to $63-ish. The food was 4/5 but service was 5/5! I know this economy has everyone struggling. This was probably the most I have spent on Mediterranean food. I would have expected $45-$50. We just came back from Turkey so this would have costed us $15-$20 USD. Portions for rice and meat were good though! All in all- would come back!

I ordered it on top of a pillow of rice which was fluffy and buttery textured. It was delicious. There are sauce bottles to pair with the meats which is my favorite part.
