I was very disappointed when I went for breakfast at 8:30 am on a weekday and had to wait for the coffee to brew. Having visited IHOPs nationwide for years, I've come to expect a carafe of coffee. However, this time, we were served cups of rather tepid and weak coffee. Ironically, there were only a few tables with customers present so I doubt that a crowd had exhausted the coffee supply The venue could certainly benefit from a renovation or update, as some of the seating is in poor condition with noticeable tears. The entire interior appears quite worn and dated. The attire of staff could also use an update as t-shirts and jeans seemed a bit casual. Our orders of eggs, bacon, and hot cakes were satisfactory but found that this location didn't offer the normal array of flavored syrups for the pancakes that IHOP is known for. It is not my intent to be overly critical but I have found IHOP's typically maintain fairly stringent standards that this location seems to be lacking. Horrible Horrible Horrible! My family and I visited this location on 02/21/2025. When we initially went in no one was up front so we waited for a few minutes and was not so nicely greeted by a guy asking how many. We told him 2 adults and 1 child and he led us to a booth. He gave us in 2 adult menus (no kids menu) and asked what we would like to drink. After giving him our requests he went to the back then came back to the table to ask my husband again what he wanted to drink. When he returned to the table he gave us our drinks and we quickly noticed there wasn't any ice. I was hesitant to ask but when I did he took the drinks back and came back out with ice. He took our orders (didn't write anything down) and walked away to "put them in". Our booth faced the kitchen which was wide open so we had the chance to view everything that was going on. After about 5 minutes I saw another employee come out of a side door with a bucket full of ice. The employee pour the ice into the cooler which is directly next to the door. The waiter and another employee began picking pieces of the ice up and throwing them across the kitchen as if they were playing basketball. This was an automatic turn off. If they felt comfortable enough to do that it's no telling what they may be doing that you can't see. I called the waiter over told him we want to pay for our drink and leave. He could cancel the remaining food. He asked why and I told him because the same ice he gives customers was the same one he dug his hands in and through across the kitchen. He attempted to say that it was different ice that he did that with (even though the kitchen is wide open and I could see everything) He then had the audacity to bring me a check with the food still added. My momma and her friends went here for breakfast and the food was made wrong she asked them to take the sauce off or remake it please, so they scraped some off then microwaved her omelet which made it rubbery and nasty, when she spoke with the manager she called my momma a liar like what really. I went to IHOP to take advantage of the "kids eat free" and boy was I disappointed! Where do I begin..... 1. The coffee was as thin as water and for this to be a pancake house I'd expect better coffee 2. The grilled cheese sandwich that came with a kid's meal was severely undercooked, it was about 3 slices of cheap processed American cheese that wasn't anywhere near fully melted. 3. The biggest disappointment was with the Thanksgiving style meal that I bought for $12... it contained INSTANT MASHED POTATOES....WHO CHARGES $12 for INSTANT POTATOES! AND THEY WERE DISGUSTING!! 4. The kids chicken and waffles that I ordered had way more breading on the chicken tenders then actual chicken, sad! 5. No refills on Kids orange juice The only bright side was my mother's Philly cheese steak sub which actually looked pretty delicious. I was very disappointed at this IHOP. The food was fine. My friend's coffee had an awful aftertaste and she sent it back refusing it. My iced tea was also pretty awful but I am not a sending things back type of person. I just didn't drink much. The service was fine. Our waitress was nice enough and everything was brought out quickly and warm enough. Not hot, but whatever. So why the 2 stars? This location smelled awful. The foyer area reeked of cigarettes even though it didn't smell at all outside the doors. The restaurant itself stank of mold/mildew. It smelled like a damp basement. I definitely couldn't enjoy my food as my whole head got congested within 10 min of walking in there. I should have just left but live and learn, I guess. Not a single customer... now I know why. When we walked in, the host was on a phone call on her personal cellphone and told us to wait. After waiting for a few minutes we got sat. We ordered our drinks and one was supposed to be a milkshake but got a hot chocolate, a glass of milk that was spoiled and smelled like ass. And then ran out of sweet tea after we had ordered just one cup. After this horrible first experience with the server, she sat in a booth behind us and just watched us. No apologies were offered. We decided to get up and leave and left more than enough money ($25 for three waters, the wrong hot chocolate, and two sodas, one tea) for the drinks on the table. They tried to stop us and start questioning us for not paying, while we're trying to just leave this terrible experience. Want to the IHOP at Belair Rd with my son. Once again we had terrible service. Our waitress took our order quickly and brought our food when it was ready. That was the last we saw of our waitress. She never came to see if our food was OK or if we needed anything. We order the burgers that come with unlimited fries. Since she never came to check on us we did not even have a chance to turn down more files if we wanted them. My son ended up going to the bathroom to refill his water glass. In deference to the other reviewers..maybe Wednesday afternoon is a bad time to go to this particular IHOP location. That being said. You ever been in one of those relationships? You know what I mean, the ones that start out really special. There is effort and flowers and romance and clean clothes (tables). Then there is a subtle shift and it becomes clear, slowly over time that one side or the other has checked out. You realize they are on cruise control or biding their time until something better comes along. I think IHOP broke up with me about three months ago and just can't bring itself to tell me...I guess it thinks I can't handle the rejection. That would at least be better than the cold indifference that this place gives me now. Walking into the door (with heavy construction nearby which is another turn off; dust on my clean car) I was greeted with four different , badly taped on (at least get them straight and neat) paper signs telling me negative things. Its like the notes that certain co-worker leave on the refrigerator. (What do you expect to happen if you put an unlabeled leftover chocolate cake in a community fridge?) That's followed by a staff of nice newly arrived citzenship seekers who either don't care or flunked out of customer service school (actual cell phone use while walking the dining floor!). The breakfast foods they still pull off competently, how hard is it to make a pancake. So maybe that's why I hadn't noticed all the other things that sprung out this time. My daughter and I went for lunch and it was just blah. She was smarter than I and stuck with pancakes. I ordered a turkey club expecting that piled high creation with the toothpicks in each delicious triangle just to hold that suckers structural integrity. What did I get? A school lunch would have been better. It was on a white sub roll, unevenly toasted, the turkey was barely restaurant quality (had a real lunch meat pressed mouth feel), the bacon was clearly from the morning, maybe even harvested off of a dieting pseudo models plate (the Baltimore county girls with those endearing muffin tops), lettuce must have been left on the loading dock on one of those 100 degree days, cheese, the scary bright orange of American rescued from individually wrapped plastic. The fries were hot but mysteriously soggy anyway. I am ashamed. I ate it all, I was really hungry and I've had worse (Army career including wars and FTXs) The floor was slippery and the table dirty. The manager was bored and badly dressed. What's with the loose top collar button and a tie? Why bother with the tie at all fella? Yes its clear that IHOP broke up with me and doesn't want me around anymore. I can take the hint. I don't need the abuse. I won't be back ( I declare shaking my fist). Unless there are real changes! Or some sweet lady takes me there for breakfast after a crazy night of unbridled passion and she pays. The inside, however, was impeccably clean, the service was awesome, and the food was good and served fast and well. I think we got the "happy pills and speed' waitress that the other poster mentioned. I always wish they had some better options for a healthy breakfast. My fears were quickly put to rest by the manager. I have been to many IHOPs, but I have never been greeted by a manager upon my arrival. Very good restaurant. I eat at many different IHOP's but this is one run like a restaurant. The omelets are beautifully prepared and the food is very fresh. Everything looks like it is put on the plate with pride. The service is excellent. The waitresses and waiters are not only nice but also get the food to you very fast. A must for inexpensive eating with a better restaurant feel. Make sure you ask for Mark as a waiter. He makes sure your dining experience is the best. All of the staff are great. Worst IHOP I have ever been to. They nickle and dime you on EVERYTHING. They do not allow any form of substitution even if they substituted item is of cheaper value, they only way they allow it is if they charge you the full cost (not the difference). Example, if you want turkey bacon substituted for regular, they charge you the full $1.49 (not the difference between regular bacon and turkey). I'm surprised they don't charge for ice in their drinks. They also have the slowest service. This is my 2nd visit here, and they took 10 minutes before a server came to my table. read more

My experience at this restaurant was just okay. The service was good! Our server Asia was friendly and quick with everything. She gave us enough time to look at the menu & checked up with us during the meal! The seating process at the front door was simple and well executed. The food was the only down side. I got two eggs, two slices of bacon, and hashbrowns plus AYCE pancakes for $6.99. I thought that was a great deal....Anyone else agree? This was my sister's choice for breakfast, I was better off going to Mcdonalds. 1st, it was a party of 11. We got seated right away. Once seated, we had to wait 15 minutes before a server came to our table to take our drink orders. Once we put the order in for the drinks, it was another 10 minutes before the drinks came and then we were able to put our food orders in... by then, every needed a refill (which we were not offered). As we patiently waited for our drinks, two of our guests asked for coffee. As a frequent customer of the ihop franchise, if i order a coffee, and someone else orders a coffee, you are supposed to get 2 pots of coffee and so on. No, it was one pot of coffee for 2 people!!! Now let's just say that all of us wanted some coffee, what were we supposed to do, share a sip of coffee?! By far the worst experience ever. Honestly, our entire meal should have been free. It took 45 minutes for my food to come out and it was still wrong. I asked for the banana fosters french toast, with no bananas. Well, I got that but my sauce that was supposed to be a buttery brown sugar glaze was nothing but sugar and butter. It wasn't even melted all the way. My other guest ordered the sweet peach praline pancakes, and they didn't add any sauce the first time, and then the server tried to argue that it didn't come with sauce...had to get a menu and show her otherwise. Had to return both orders. My other guests had to share one cup of soda, the eggs were cold when they came to the table. The manager was pleasant for the most part, but there were still meals on my check that should have came off. It would greatly appreciated if all of my money was refunded... but honestly, i wouldn't want to step foot in this establishment ever again!
