Getting ready for Sunday breakfast tomorrow. Mother called in and was put on hold for a little bit. Placed an order for the new minion banana pudding with sugar free maple syrup and an egg white garden omelet surf ham added. The worker was great and happy to sub the banana pancakes for the omelet side. The worker that took the order was Isabel. The restaurant is safe, clean and practiced. Masks worn by workers. The worker was nice and put everything mother asked for on the bag along with good night wishes. Sunday morning! Got everything ready per usual. The omelet half was absolutely delicious! Wow! On Friday 8/18/23- this place is infested with fruit flies, gnats, drain flies whatever you wanna call them. We could not even enjoy our food. I found 2 bugs in my food, one on my cup and one in my ranch. If I wanted to eat with bugs I would have ate outside on the patio! We made a complaint to our waitress who said " oh yea we know, our manager is trying to do something about it" y'all are aware of the problem and you're still serving food like this!!!!! If this is happening in the front of the house I can only imagine what's happening in the back! They DID NOT offer any form or discount or refund service. I hope y'all close down. I have a dementia client that I bring once a week to the restaurant. All of the staff are amazing, especially Kelly and Patricia. My client can't remember much, but these women have taken such good care of her while we're eating that any time I mention going to eat, she always wants to go see her girls at IHOP. Took my son there for his 16th bday breakfast. He throughly enjoyed it. The waitress was very nice and even called my 6 year old a "princess" which absolutely made her day. She smiled the whole time. Masks were being enforced and cleaned was happening very regularly throughout our stay. So disappointed in IHOP today. Brought my grandchildren in because they had their special $5.99 all you can eat pancakes. We eat at this restaurant at least once a week and it is usually really good. They have a happy hour starting at 3 p.m. with $6 choices. Today was awful!! Cheese omelet was so dry and pancakes were splitting in two pieces horizontally. They were very crowded with nine tables coming in within 10 minutes and only one cook, and they may have been overwhelmed .This was really a sad dinner. My grandchildren did not even eat another helping after the first one and this is really unusual for them. There was also only five tables in use because they had only one waitress and we waited for 15 minutes until the other waitress came on duty. We came here on a random night and were all pleasantly surprised. Everyone was in a very good mood and working well together. Our food was absolutely delicious! Zero complaints from all three of us. Our server was super sweet and very patient with us. There was a gentleman cleaning the tables and really took pride in how clean the restaurant was. Cleanest IHOP I have ever been to! Kelly is astronomically wonderful. She is the best waitress I've ever encountered in over 10 years. She is extremely talented, knowledgeable, and polite. She continually makes sure that you're doing well and even offered to reheat my waffle after I'd asked for more butter. The food is always hot and super fast, and I've never had an issue with a mistake. During my visit, I witnessed Kelly helping out another employee who I assume was new and never once did she belittle him for what happened, she was just trying to help him for in the future. Not the best breakfast place in Madera nor is it the worst. If you like pancakes this is the place since it has a wide variety of those. As for the food It is ok nothing special. Customer service, umm it can be a hit or a miss. I have had good service on some visits and not so good on other visits. The busser who has been working there forever is probably the hardest working person there, occasionally I have spotted him riding to and from work on his bike. If you go early when they open or after lunch there is not a wait usually but if you go when it is busy around 8am-1pm there is usually a wait especially on Sunday. Price wise I would say is average, for the same price though you have a few more options in Madera that have better food and service. If you are traveling thru Madera on the freeway it is right off highway 99 on the Cleveland exit by Walmart with gas and other shops including food close by. read more

Came here as a last resort. Empty building, one other family besides us. It's Father's Day. We waited over an hour and still no food. When we finally received food it was burnt. There was confusion with the plates. The waiters had no idea which plates went to what table. Literally we were only 10 people in the entire restaurant. Thats so embarrassing. Why are we waiting over an hour to get food. Honestly this place is a shit show. What happened? I would never dine here again. Me and the other family seated next to us both left. they were seated way before we were and we somehow received our food faster than they did. Ridiculous service. Staff said they were short staffed. Later upon speaking with the manager she said they weren't short staffed at all. We should've taken it as a sign not to eat here, as the place was completely empty. I don't know what has happened with ihop in Madera but it's gone completely downhill. And prices don't match the quality. I don't mind spending money where it's deserved, something needs to change or I fear this place might be shut down. That's how bad our service was today. I can't help it ... I love The IHOP. Especially out in the country. But some places are slower than others and have loooooong lines because everyone and their mothers love The IHOP too. While this particular place is quite popular, we didn't wait more than five minutes before the three of us were seated. Our waiter (wish I got his name!) was very good. He was quick, friendly, and got our orders out exactly how we asked! I had the quick two egg breakfast and I'm quite particular about it. Over priced Poor quality food Service is whatever Employees 'hanging out' by your booth. Do they NOT have a break room? Visited after church on mother's day just me and my four children. When bring seated I asked if children eat free (with a purchase of an adult plate) - hostess responded "oh that just ended yesterday" really? Ok. Another family sat down a bit after us. They were approached first to order. Oh well. With just a few feet from us a group of sometimes two, sometimes three employees were standing/sitting around. One messed with the silverware. Others looked like they were on break. I wasn't trying but could hear their conversations about other employees etc. When I ordered asked for a meal (for my graveyard working husband) to be prepared later so I can take it to go. She said ya she will have them start it when our food arrives so it will be done and fresh as we are ready to go. Im pleased. Food comes, kids NO complaints. They all loved their food. Im starving and shoveling my steak tips in my mouth - eating while the kids are haha. I get 1/2 way through the meat portions and realize the meat its bloody. Did it kill me? No. But at that moment I realized the waitress never asked how I wanted it, maybe it just came like this - regardless I spit my bite out into my napkin and gag. I considered sending it back, but honestly by the time I saw my waitress I decided to just take home and reheat myself as the kids were getting antsy. I asked for the check and a to go container. She brought the check no container. When paying the almost $60 bill I was told I didn't pay enough. My husband's order wasnt charged. Ok- I pay more now with tip bill about $80. Whenever I come to Madera, I have a bad habit of seriously over eating. Saturday morning, I woke up in this godforsaken town and decided to go to IHOP. Well, actually, my friends kids decided we were going here. I have been to this IHOP a few times before and have never been disappointed. My turkey sandwich was perfect. I also tried the new Corn Cake Pancakes which were surprisingly good. They were a little sweet for my taste, but nevertheless, they were good. The service was a bit slow... but it was probably just because they were busy. Although it was breakfast and I had ordered a turkey sandwich, I decided that me and the kids needed dessert. (I'll sure make a great mother some day!) I ordered us the Crispy Banana Caramel Cheesecake a la mode. This my friends, was complete heaven. Stopped in after a long day driving the family up the 99 thinking I was going to get the standard chain restaurant fare, and was blown away with how good the food was and how nice the staff was. I'm originally from the mid-West, and now I'm a grumpy old guy with two young kids, so I'm not going to be won over with a fake smile and rehearsed greeting. I can't express enough how good the people that work at this store were to me and my family. It reminded me of home. The hostess gladly got us two high chairs (yes, I am THAT guy with two toddlers), and even though the place was slammed (clearly, it is a popular place to the locals), we had drinks, menus, and some things for the kids to play with while we waited for our order. The waitress was very courteous and even suggested items the kids should try that had less sugar! That might just win her "waitress of the year" in my opinion. The food came quickly and although our waitress was busy, another server brought it out to us seeing it was up in the window. I've waited tables myself, and it is rare to see a place that cooperates like this. It is a testament to the people and the management. They really do care about making this place somewhere you would want to return. The food was very good. Best IHOP food I've ever had. Cooked exactly to order, and they took care of the little things. For example, the balsamic-glazed chicken came with sauteed mushrooms, onions and diced tomatoes, and all were as fresh as you would get at a 5 star restaurant in the Bay Area. The desert was fantastic as well. You should definitely try the banana caramel cheesecake. (homer simpson drools). My only regret is that my kids went nuts in the place and made a huge mess. We had been on the road too long and they had crossed that very fine line into insanity. Well fed, and juiced up, they started throwing every thing they could find on the floor playing some game where they challenge gravity, thinking the next object won't fall and make a mess, but if it does, they lose and receive a pleasant visual. Next, they simultaneously loaded diapers, forcing my wife and I to go double barrel and tie up the men's and ladies' room for several minutes. My apologies to the customers that day and to the staff. We did make it a mess. We paid up our check and promised we would write them a yelp review.
