IHOP - Undercooked pancakes - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - La Mirada, California

This IHOP is not too far from me but I always forget it is there. When I had a pancake and scrambled egg cravings recently I placed an order for takeout as dine-in was not an option during these COVID times. The app was not very helpful in my customized options so I phoned in my order. It was Memorial Monday Holiday and they had a curbside or pick up in restaurant option. I decided to not be lazy and walked in, with mask of course. There was only 3-4 people working that day and I am going to assume these were the bad ass hard working, non-COVID fearing employees who decided to return to work instead of staying home unemployed. This was definitely the IHOP A-Team as they were just cranking out all the orders. The hostess was nice and running inside and outside to make sure everyone was taken care of. The food was packaged neatly, was prepared quickly, and tasted good. Good size portions. I am very appreciative of hard workers who make the difference in restaurant experience. I was looking at older reviews from this place pre-COVID and noticed some people had bad experiences. Well, looks like those bad apples are staying home for now. Hope this place can keep up the good service after things return to normal. read more

The food was decent, although the service was terrible, and our table was often overlooked. The worst part was that it was my husband's birthday when we went and they wouldn't validate our coupon. Their reasoning was that we didn't have a physical copy of the coupon even though we had the coupon on our phone (the coupon doesn't even have a bar-code on it). The waitress didn't even check with the manager. Again, the food is decent, but due to the terrible service, much less on a birthday, I give this "restaurant" 1 star. read more

Took my mom for her birthday breakfast at IHOP. Our waitress Jeanne was so attentive and sooo pleasant. She is so great she brought a birthday treat and everyone sang Happy Birthday. This is the best IHOP restaurant. The staff n manager are very friendly. Food was delicious. Thank you Jeanne, you made my mother's birthday very special. read more

Smaller IHOP than others there is no waiting area. You'd gave to stand or sit outside. There is plenty of parking. The food is your regular IHOP kinda food but I appreciated that the temperature of the food was what it should be. The service was friendly and attentive. SYSTEM: Order from menu SERVICE: Really nice staff, friendly, and attentive. I came in on Christmas by myself and it was pretty packed, but I got seated right away since it was just me. I think I gave off a beezy vibe, which I feel bad for, because I was talking on the phone (forgot to call my family to say Merry Christmas...oops) and gave short replies. Never had to ask for anything since they did things before I even had time to ask. FOOD: It was ok. Nothing I couldnt make at home. The buttermilk pancakes were what I was craving for honestly, but I knew I couldn't eat more than two. So, I ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette with the buttermilk pancakes. Thought thered be cheese in the omelette since I'm used to cheese being in it from my past experiences at ihop. The pancakes were a good size but seemed pretty dry (like it'd been sitting out for a bit) so I drenched it in syrup... AMBIENCE: It felt homey. Really small but it didn't seem to bother me that other customers were in close proximity. Now, if they were an inch closer, it wouldve bother me. It felt pretty clean compared to other ihops and for the size and amount of people, I was surprised it wasn't so loud. VERDICT: System: Normal Service: Good Food: Average Ambience: Homey I guess my only complaints are that the cup of water I got was dirty and I only found out after taking a big gulp of it (I asked for another cup and the server apologized) and the syrup bottle I was using was broken so it was annoying to use since I had to adjust the cap so it wouldn't fall into my pancakes. Service was a little lacking. They told us to seat ourselves and no one came by for ten mins. Had to get up and ask for menus. Two couples sat after us and got their menus and drinks before us.I guess service is hit or miss depending on your luck. After that it was ok. Ordered the Big Steak omelet and Chicken & Waffle. Not eating meat, it can be difficult to find places that will alter their menu. The people here were nice about me subbing the ham out of my ham and egg sandwich for fried egg. It was a good choice! The first bite was full of flavor and the sourdough bread was toasted perfectly and with the yoke from the fried egg it had the right ballance of wet to dry ingredients. read more

Every time me and my family eat here. We enjoy the food and serve is great. Food was well seasoned, hot and freshly cooked. Waitress always wear a smile with a pleasant attitude. Worst to go experience. Been waiting for 30 minutes to tell me my name is not on the order list when I told them I am waiting for my food and told them my name more then 3 times. I use two name my native name and English name so I might be confused witch name I used but it take them 30 minutes to tell me my name is not there. They were asking for my order from my phone that I couldn't fine I show my yelp user name but they said they could not give. After I told them if I don't take it now I will cancel the order they gave me the food. I should just canceled the order because the food got all cold. Never ordering again. read more

Went here this morning to enjoy a nice birthday breakfast for my daughter. Well the waitress working was sooooo rude!! I do not know what her issue was as I noticed she was only rude to me. As my daughter and I were walking in, she turned and looked at us through the window. But when we were standing right in front of her, she refused to acknowledge us. No hello, no good morning, no I'll be right with you, nothing!! To the point where the manager stopped what she was doing and let us know that she would help us... Then she comes over to take our order while we were still looking at the menu and talking to us as minimally as possible. And when she brought our drinks and food she let them hit the table so hard and then slid them over to us. Wthck!! I did my best to not let her get to me and even left her a tip, although I did not want to. As I am walking out, she was standing in the front and looked right at me. I smiled and said bye and she completely ignored me. When we walked out my eight year old daughter tells me, "That was rude." When I asked her what was, she replied, "She didn't even say bye." For a child to notice that lady's rudeness and lack of customer service, says alot. I hardly eat at IHOP but would have appreciated a much more welcoming experience just as she provided the other customers with. The manager and cook were very friendly, though. There was only one other small party when we walked in to the smallest IHOP ever. We sat ourselves and waited to place our orders. Three of us got breakfast and one ordered a burger. Simple enough. We waited about 25 minutes for the food and by the time it got to us everything was lukewarm. Waiter brought the burger last and what do ya know. There's a BUG on it. Just hanging out. Right on the bun. Dead. We called the waiter over and he looked at it, gave us a look like we had purposely placed it there, and just stood there until my friend asked if she could have another one. She didn't ask for a comp, just another burger. He obliged after staring at us blankly. Needless to say we won't be coming back to this or any other IHOP. Rude. read more

This is the worst Ihop I have ever been to. I ordered online, waited 15 minutes, drove over to this location, and then they made me wait another hour just to bring my food out to my car. When I got home I realized they made another mistake by leaving out an omellete I ordered. I had to drive back and pick up my order after I waited so long for them to even make my food. When I started eating my omellete I then realized they left out some ingredients I wanted as well. I was looking forward to a relaxing Sunday with some warm breakfast but instead was met with frustrating and time consuming issues with a restaurant who didn't even apologize for their incompetence. Save yourself the time and dissapoint and go elsewhere. This place does not care about how they treat their customers or performing efficiently. If you want a cold breakfast/brunch and astronomical time wasted by all means come to this Ihop, but if you are like me and value your time off and fresh warm food then I implore you to drive a little further to find better. read more

This is the closest location to my current house, so I come here often but don't do the check in. So food-wise, the portions are large and hearty enough to keep me filled up. I am 6" 175lbs. There is enough variety in the food to make someone satisfied. The waffles have gotten smaller though. I always get the lumberjack breakfast and it is very tasty and filling. Price-wise, it is fairly priced. Being a chain restaurant, thankfully they have enough business to keep the prices cheap enough to come every week. Environment-wise, I think this location is due for a renovation. The tables are starting to feel sticky even after wiping them down, and the crinkles in the seats are on the verge of becoming tears. The staff are great. You become accustomed to seeing the same employees everytime you go and they will start becoming your friends. read more

This place is super crowded on Saturday mornings. Went in a round 9:30 and had to wait about 20 min for a table. The dining area is super tight, but their wait staff is friendly. They are also pretty fast when it comes to serving food. I had the blueberry pancakes which are super good, but expensive considering they don't come with any sides. While this may be the closest IHOP to my home (right now), I will never return to or patronize this location. I AM FURIOUS! The Server was pleasant, but not very intelligent. When we sat down (Zachary, Savanah and I), I specifically asked her if a child meal was free with a paid adult meal. She said (and I quote), "every day after 4 pm". So Zach ordered his usual: Funny Face Pancake, I ordered Savanah the Silver 5 and I ordered the Tilapia dinner (which happens to be the Friday night special). Not ONCE, knowing that I had asked about the kid's meals when we sat down, did she let me know of the "fine print" where the free kid's meals did not apply with any other special. So, when I got the bill - I asked. Like any logical human being on a budget would do... Her answer? "You ordered the special". Duh! Yes, yes I did. And it was your ethical responsibility (since I obviously didn't know any better), to say something! This is why I have always gone to the Brea restaurant, who not only includes the kid's drinks with the kid's meals - but has logical, intelligent staff who would actually say something. Never again. Let me just start off by saying i've never felt more racially profiled in my life. First we wait 25 minutes to get a table which is normal. After we waited 45 minutes sitting at our table and our order was never taken we never got drinks or were asked if we needed help or anything. Me and my family were having conversations in Spanish and due to this fact we were racially profiled, the two (white) families who were seated after us were already about to get their food when we decided it was time to go.
