I tried one of the advertised iced coffees on the table, and it was great. For entrees, I ordered the savory Caprese crepes (thanks to a previous Yelp review!), and they did not disappoint. My husband ordered the Machaca--he was a bit skeptical since it's a chain and not a traditional Mexican restaurant, but he was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! The kids devoured their standard eggs, bacon, and pancake breakfast with zero complaints. Even though it's a chain, the experience was easily 5 stars. Wait. Five stars for an IHOP? How can that be? Well.... We were seeing a show at the La Mirada Theatre and it got out late and we were hungry. We saw the IHOP across the parking lot and walked over. It wa 940pm. The open sign was on. We got there and we saw they closed at ten on and we are not the kind of couple that makes anyone work just before closing. We told the waitress we would leave as we didn't want to stop them from going home. She was gracious and told us to stay, so we did. I had the three stack of pancakes and my boyfriend had the avocado toast. Both were coooked well and tasted great. We told the server and she said the cook they had that night really knew how to make good food and she was right. We left a super generous tip as a thank you for the hospitality and left was truly appraciative of Their efforts. Place was clean and we could not have expected any better service. Myself and my daughter caught a late dinner last night at the La Mirada IHOP. Now usually you get sub par service so close to closing time, but not last night. Our server Elizabeth R. was AWESOME! She was so professional, attentive and most of all she seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help us. Her customer service was A+ top notch. I went to this restaurant because my granddaughter and I wanted something quick before going to the La Mirada Performing Arts Center. Parking is not a problem because it's a rather small restaurant. The restaurant is very small and very narrow. You enter the restaurant and you see the kitchen toward the left as you enter. The restaurant is a bit shabby and in need of upgrades. The service was excellent and we were quickly seated. The menu was a little abbreviated, not the typical iHop menu. My granddaughter felt rushed when she ordered as the server hovered over her. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and my granddaughter ordered the BLT. The food was okay but not great. The fries were a bit overdone and the grilled chicken was warm but the coffee was fresh and hot. The service overall was good...we got our bill and was finished in less than 30 minutes. IHOP has always been one of those places full of memories for me. Growing up, it was where I'd go with family, friends, or even for a "date" back in junior high. Yeah, a date--because when you're a broke middle schooler with zero clue about romance, IHOP is basically fine dining. Besides, it's not like we had Instagram-worthy brunch spots back then. You either went to IHOP, the mall food court, or tried not to look awkward at the local hangout. Today, my wife and I went to the La Mirada location after an oil change. I didn't have super high hopes for the food, but I was hoping for decent service and that cozy, old-school diner vibe. Unfortunately, it didn't totally deliver. There was a little mix-up with our order--I asked for pancakes but got hash browns instead. They swapped it out when I mentioned it, but the servers didn't look too happy about it. I ordered the T-bone steak and eggs, asking for over-easy eggs and a medium-rare steak. But what came out was a well-done steak. You know that feeling when you're expecting a warm hug, but you get a cold shoulder? That was this steak. My wife had the spinach mushroom omelet and seemed to enjoy it, so at least one of us had a better experience. The coffee was probably the best part. Nothing fancy--just that classic diner coffee that's simple and comforting. Sometimes you miss that in a world where coffee has become all about lattes and art. Will I come back? Maybe, but mostly for the nostalgia. I might start checking reviews before picking an IHOP location next time. I usually like to go in without reading reviews, but this visit has me rethinking that. On top of that, the refillable orange juice, something that has brought my family to ihop locations, has been blocked out with a piece of tape from the menu. Jesus was our waiter and delivered our strawberry and whipped cream waffle combo breakfast to our table. See actual entree photos from our table and their website for comparison (ATTACHED). We have not eaten here for awhile so this morning we decided to visit this location. Not many customer when we came. The crew seems short handed. After we got seated it took awhile to get our orders in.. suddenly the lady customer beside us yelled "my bacon is cold and taste different" go figure! so we ordered big steak omelette this steak was chopped into small pieces (should be strip) badly burnt same as the hashvrown. So I have very mixed feelings on this location. I will start that I wouldn't generally recommend going here with more than a group of 4. It's one of the smaller locations without a lot of seating options for groups. That said we had a group of 6 of us that had just finished working out at the UFC Gym across the parking lot so we stopped in for dinner. The waitress was nice enough but the service was really slow. She kept forgetting things...like not putting in an order for someone's toast. We had one person's food take so long to come out the rest of us were mostly done! They did end up comping that plate and our drinks. And the food that did make it out was all really good. I had the Breakfast Crepes and they were wonderful! So rich and cheesy with a slight sweetness to it because of the crepe itself. Another at our table had the Pesto Crepes..she also said it was excellent. I find that this place is usually pretty slow. We get into this part of town more often and she has her pancake cravings so we come in a couple times in the month. We've found the food and service to be quite good. Her food allergies limits many of the places and she's done well to not have a reaction after eating here. (There are some menu items she cannot have so those are easy to avoid.) I particularly like their weekday lunch specials for $5.99 with purchase of a beverage. The other IHop's don't have this so this is nice that this location has this available. There have been a couple instances of the pancakes being under cooked so we'll let the table staff know and they remake them. Other than that, the food comes out hot, nicely plated and of good quantity. There are multiple chefs so each of them may do the plating a bit different. I don't mind because I can get in a bit of photo practice in with the variations. Timing of order to on the table is good during our weekday visits from the 2-6 PM slot. Shout to Unique, Rosa and Kristie. They are friendly, pleasant and they are attentive to guests while dining. A consistently good visit that we enjoy coming in. We have eaten breakfast at this restaurant a few times. It is a cute, little, limited seating chain restaurant in the same complex as the La Mirada theater. Pros: Abundant parking since the Gym was closed a few years ago. Coffee is already present at your table in a flask. You do not have to wait for someone to pour it to you. (+1) 4 different kinds of syrup for your pancakes preset at your table. (+1) Cons: Expensive compared to Polly's Pies, Denny's etc. Most of the items are $10 or more. (-1) Dishes that were brought to our table did not resemble the presentation picture on the menu during our most recent visit. (-1) Tiny restaurants like this are usually mom and pop shops, or are found in pricy rental areas like downtown's etc. It is unusual for this area. There is not much space between adjacent tables. (-1) This would be a really appealing restaurant if it was a mom and pop place. Unfortunately, it is a Chain restaurant. So, our visits are infrequent. read more

Came here for breakfast because we had a $50 gift card and was craving for a good pancakes and french toast. Food was decent and the service was ok/our server was friendly so no complain about the servers. However, when we gave our gift card, they said we can't use the gift card at this location due to having a wrong system or the system is down ‍‍‍ WTH!!! Can't they input it manually??? It seemed like they only want to except cash because the gift card is already paid for. What ever the reason was we find this very unacceptable and they didn't have any notice posted anywhere in the restaurant. We didn't wanted to argue because we were in a hurry to get back. If I had enough time, I will probably had called the number back of the gift card. If you are trying to use your gift card, call the restaurant before visiting so you don't get surprised. Got my order pretty quickly since I was literally the only table. I guess on weekdays this place isn't really busy since many people have jobs and everything. One of my least favorite IHOPs. It seems like I often get slightly less or smaller food at this location compared to others. Had to keep re-grabbing their attention in the middle of ordering because they'd walk away without asking if I was done. Don't care for the layout. Small, crowded aisleways. I love IHOP but I avoid this one if I have the time to go further from home. It's not awful, just not one I prefer to go to. In general, it's typical diner food. I often try to order from their seasonal menu since it has really good deals compared to the regular menu price for the same amount of food. Definitely my favorite type of pancakes. I was beyond dissapointed with the service that I received by our waitress Jonette and the manager whom I didn't get his name but he was older and bald. Going in early for breakfast into this tiny tiny restaurant we had higher hopes. We were greeting by the manager who then brought us to our booth and left our menus. Everything was fine. Our server came over and took our drink order and left since we were not ready. While taking our drink orders my daughter was telling her what she wanted at least 5 times because she was not listening, she just kept looking at me so I was bothered by that. When it was time to place our orders we flagged Jonette down and told her what we wanted. Again she just didn't seem interested in listening to my daughter place her order. I could tell she had regulars in there because she was chatting away with them and standing around. I felt because we were not her usual customers she paid no attention. She brought our food and then we never saw her again. I got the strawberry banana french toast and it was terrible. I took about 4 bites and didn't finish it because it was watery and flavorless. I was surprised that it had no flavor. I never got to tell my server because she was no where in site. Never came back to bring us napkins or refills. I had to ask the bus boy for napkins, so sad. Finally when she came to give us our check I told her that I didn't like the French Toast (because she didn't ask how our food was) and she said oh I'm sorry and left the check with us and walked away. I was shocked that she didn't ask if there was anything she could do. When we went up to pay I told the manager about the service and he just looked at me like he didn't know what to do and said oh ok sorry and handed me my receipt. As many times as I've come here, this place has always been consistent with food and service - both excellent. GMIT is my IHOP buddy. She will always come along when I ask her, and she will always eat as many pancakes as she can hold (which is really about 1 or 1.5). Pancakes are yummy, Hash browns are delicious. Eggs are tasting better - I think they're using more butter. GMIT asked for her bacon extra crispy. I thought IHOP's bacon was already crispy enough, so I figured they'd just bring her the regular bacon. But they did it - they made that crispy bacon even crispier. I could tell by looking at the fat parts. I didn't know bacon could look that way and not be burnt. Oh, oh, oh, I ate the chocolate chip pancakes. Aye yi yi! They were a taste treat, with just enough chips and sweetness. They were covered with a mound of whipped cream studded with more chips. It looked so pretty! Then GMIT took her spoon and attacked my whipped cream before I could take a picture. And that's why my pancakes look the way they do in my pic.
