We first enjoyed sweets form ID-Eclair when it had a spot at Vegan Sundays and was sooo excited when it opened a brick and mortar. From the croissants to the macarons you will not be disappointed. Every single item we have had has been impeccable. The jalepeno cheese is one of my favs if you're looking for savory, and the eclairs are absolutely divine. Vegans (and those with dairy allergies) can now rejoice because ID-Eclair by chef Romuald Guiot is nothing short of AMAZING! Their classic plain croissant (get it when they release a new batch in the morning) tastes as good as a real, butter croissant, except it's vegan! Flaky, crispy, it's total fire and delish! They are known for their eclairs (it's in their name ID-Eclair). They have so many interesting flavors! And it rotates every week i think. The Millefeuille / Napolean, Paris Brest and their seasonal French Currant eclairs were totally fire and worth ordering! Great pastry shell that tastes like the real eclair shell (but with no dairy used), creamy filling. Their mushroom danish was totally a must order as well. It tasted flaky, cheesy, full of umami, but again, it was dairy-free. Amazing. Their radicchio salad with walnuts and vegan blue cheese (wut?!) tasted just like actual blue cheese! Totes crazy. It's about time an all vegan bakery opened up in Pasadena. Located on the edge of old town, this vibey and modern cafe offers a variety of vegan pastries, food, and drinks. There were quite a few people on a Sunday afternoon, but no wait since I ordered for pickup. Unfortunately, the chocolate eclair, which they're named after, was quite underwhelming. One of my new favorite spots in town! I drove for an hour because this is the first place I found that serves vegan eclairs! I'm so excited they finally opened. Their food is delicious as well (I had tomato soup) and coffee is pretty good too. Not to mention great friendly service that I experienced: despite the location being busy their staff members took their time to help me make a choice, recommended their favorite soup and cleaned the table for me. Update: Rather than take honest feedback in stride, the owner accused me of spreading "fake information"--when in reality, I simply described what I experienced as a paying customer. If something tasted off, or the process looked unclear, I'm allowed to say that. The chef clearly stated in his reply that he pre-makes the matcha mix every morning. That means the matcha they serve you is not fresh. It's been sitting and settling in that mix for hours, until they serve it to you. That is atrocious considering they charge $9.00 for a matcha. No wonder my stomach didn't feel great. Matcha lovers beware!!! I don't understand why he felt the need to tell me that he paid $20,000 for an Eversys Cameo espresso machine. If you read his reply, he expected me to ask about how expensive his machine is. No, this is not what makes a coffee shop. A great barista and great coffee beans make a great shop... not an automatic push-button espresso machine. If the owner is so defensive about his coffee (that I didn't even try), then maybe it's just like his matcha. read more

This review is overdue. I've been vegan for 10 years and I've tried many vegan bacons... and the BLT I had here a couple months ago was one of if not THE best I've ever had. It was the sandwich du jour but I hope it's offered as a regular menu item. SO GOOD that I ate one there and ordered another for takeout. We tried many different things. Although we were going to another stop, I couldn't try everything I wanted. We tried a few sweet and savory things. My favorites were the jalapeno croissant and the pistachio elcair. The jalapeno croissant had a great amount of spice, speaking from a person who loves spicy food. The service was so amazing, they were friendly and helped us navigate the menu. The ambiance was great, too. I would normally get things to go but there was an open table and we just wanted to sit, enjoy and slow down before going about the rest of the day. Loved, loved, loved! Such a fun time at this delicious bakery! Vegans and non-vegan will agree! Super yummy! My sister and I came here after a co-worker brought her a pastry from this place. We saw that they offered lunch, so decided to try it out. Once there we were so excited to see their beautiful display of desserts and pastries. I noticed that they had a tea for two ($70) which included a shared pot of tea & a beautiful tier of savory and sweet treats. The (very talented) chef brought out our tower, too, which was a treat! Everything there is vegan, which my sister was thrilled about. I'm not vegan and have suffered through some disappointing vegan places with her in the past (but I've made wonderful vegan dishes so I know it's possible). Anyway, this places gets it right! I enjoyed the cabbage soup, "egg" sandwich, all the French pastries were delicious, and their tea (blue mountain?) was so good! We bought more desserts to take home and they were all a hit except for one (but it was still a cute design of Cousin Itt). Also, I'm not a giant macaron fan, but I did like the lemon & the chocolate. The pumpkin and lemon tarts were so, so good! The napoleon was wonderful. We have been serving hot dinners at our church in East Pasadena to folks who have lost homes and/or can't drink or cook with the water due to contamination from the wildfires. The first night we served dinner ID-eclair dropped by 3 huge boxes of their delicious vegan pastries -- both savory and sweet. Some of the best food and pastry in LA. It's plant based, but there hasn't been a single dish that I haven't loved from their menu. Visit once a week and have been 10+ times since we discovered this gem. Today I got their soup of the day (mushroom and asparagus) and it arrived topped with savory Chantilly cream. The depth of flavor, richness, and nuance of this soup had me saying "I don't know how I'll be able to not get the soup du jour every time I come here." Also got their tomato sandwich on their homemade baguette. This is the stuff of dreams. Perfectly seasoned tomatoes with fresh herbs and deliciously nutty sharp cheese that paired perfectly with the juicy tomatoes. Even their side salad is full of flavor. The staff are all wonderful, the vibe is immaculate (outdoor seating? people watching? very Parisian). This is our favorite place to dine now. We used to go to different restaurants, but now we just come here. Breakfast, lunch, dinner at La Cave next door... you won't be disappointed. In fact, you'll wonder why you haven't visited sooner. (Pro tip: their chocolate almond croissant is so good the next day. Buy one after you've eaten your fill, take it home, and thank me the next morning. I asked if they can turn their popular pistachio eclair into a cake for my wife's birthday and they assured me it could be done. I sent them a picture of a Paris Theme cake and Chef Romy executed to the T on this cake!! The exterior of the cake was carefully detailed with multiple colors, drawings, and macaroons!! Cake on the inside was light, fresh, and moist, to top it in off it was not super sweet. pistachio flavoring on the inside was perfect!!
