Great corner French patisserie in Pasadena The quiche I ordered was delicious! Fluffy, perfectly flavored, and the pastry crust was firm and crisp. This was my favorite item we ordered. Also got a chocolate croissant, macarons of various flavors, a pistachio eclair, Paris Brest (hazelnut eclair), and two drinks. The chai latte was a bit milky but okay. Wouldn't order it again. Also tried the pistachio eclair at the cafe/bakery and it was sweet but not overly so. The service was quick and prompt. Everyone is friendly. They have seating space available inside and outside. If you order a pastry to eat there they'll serve it on the cutest vintage looking china. The to go boxes are nice. It shares space with another French looking business (La Cave). They also do custom order cakes and have a monthly macaron masterclasses . They have a tea for two that's $70 ($35 for every extra person) which might be worth it if you're ordering a bunch of stuff. Chef Romy's quiches are wonderful. Their buttery pastry crust is layered and crisp and baked perfectly. The heart is creamy but firm and delicious, and suspends its mushrooms, or spinach, or bac'n (or other treats that I haven't --yet-- tried). 100% wonderful. I really liked the Palmier. Theres a sweet clear coating that makes it really good. I wasnt a fan of the pistachio eclair, although i know its a popular choice. The fruit tart was really good, the fruit was fresh, the cream and crust, all of it. I passed on the one w a red crust bc he said they use red food dye, which has been shown to be carcinogenic. There was a pastry with hazelnut filling that looked really good, id like to try that next time, its called the paris or something like that. And im getting that sweet coated Palmier again. Run or drive, but don't walk to this beautiful French Cafe/Bakery in Pasadena! We were so graciously greeted in French with smiles all around. Alfred and Carly were very welcoming! This cafe/bakery offers coffee, tea, food, and a variety of enticing baked goods, including vegan and gluten-free. Usually, when I ask for gluten-free pastries at other establishments, I am offered only one or two, but not here at ID Eclair! Alfred was more than gracious with pointing out the numerous pastries they offered. He was so well-informed and was sincerely happy to answer and tend to my many inquiries. My eyes and heart opened wide with such joy at all the options! The ultimate treat was when we took our first bite. Oh my gosh! I have never tasted gluten-free this good anywhere! Even my husband, who is 'allergic' to any healthy desserts, commented (with his happy eyes), "This is awesome!" That was his first bite of the Strawberry Tart. I followed suit, because it was gluten-free, and WOW! The perfectly glazed stawberry with the creamy custard and buttery crust all blended so nicely in your mouth like a beautiful melody! It wasn't at all overly sweet, but so perfectly balanced that it made you want more. Oh did I mention it's gluten-free? Can't wait to try the other tarts! Then it was my turn to try the Canneles. This very simple-looking and unassuming mini-bundt-cake-looking pastry was the most delicious surprise I didn't know I needed! It was like unwrapping a gift! The outside was superbly caramelized and crunchy with a mochi-like and tender vanilla custard center. All my favorite things in one! And gluten-free! I also ordered a decaf latte with coconut milk...this dairy alternative was another win in my book because I am also dairy-, oat-, and nut-free. Again, very difficult finding many cafés offering this. It was a delicious blend and perfect boldness. It wasn't just sweet milk, like other major chains. I'd also like to note that Alfred was a superstar! We initially thought we were going to order and go, but his hospitality and helpful attitude made us want to stay to enjoy our treats and learn more about what this Bakery had to offer. When I asked about their tea selections, he immediately gave us a menu and had us smell each tea jar...I wanted to buy them all! Then he showed us their gluten-free bread loaf and the different custom cakes they offer. We left there with a loaf of gluten-free bread, some gluten-free chocolate cookies, two tea pouches, and the best experience with a promise to return for their tea party and as lifetime patrons! Cute cozy vegan cafe on Green St. Pasadena. They also have their wine bar/restaurant next door. Stopped by to check out and tried their pistachio financier, matcha tart and their 7 citrus black tea. I was advised that the financier was gluten free. They also have macaron that's very lovely as well and gluten free. I tried the lemon! Please do let the staff know if you have celiac. I have gluten intolerant and I was fine after consuming their pastries. The financier is lovely and not so sweet. Matcha is very much present and the cream on top is not sweet, great balance and lovely companion to the matcha itself. The tea is great to drink with the sweets, you can taste the orange citrus and grapefruit flavor comes in to balance it out. It was about after 8:20 pm and they said they are extending their bakery hour for people to come in and enjoy. It was very lovely to sit and enjoy the dessert, in a nice quiet night. Alfredo, one of their staff showed their tea menu and also let us smell the different tea buds scents for us for later time. He also mentioned about their tea set with the chef's choice of pastries. He's very friendly and helpful and very welcoming. Certainly will go back and try their other pastries and tea. *Meter Parking is available on street and there's also a parking lot on De Lacey Ave between Green and Colorado, which is $1 for 2 hour parking. Be careful on being good feeding those meters if you're staying long and parking on street since Pasadena is pretty strict on their parking regulation and they have parking officers constantly monitor it. read more

Is it possible to go here too much? I find excuses to come over here just to grab pastries and or lunch. As good or better than your local patisserie in Paris. The lemon meringue tart was so good. Best meringue - vegan or otherwise - that I've ever had! And their Dubai chocolate bite with the chocolate mousse is addicting - I took a few home for later. I want to start this review by saying that I really wanted to love this bakery but I was honestly let down. The baked goods in the window looked beautiful and is what drew me in. I ordered several items: Focaccia, Vanilla Eclair, Paris Brest, Butter Croissants and a Baguette. I happen to snag the last focaccia which was a bit dry around the edges but very flavorful, fluffy and moist once I took a few more bites towards the middle. The vanilla eclair was delicious and had great vanilla flavor but the Paris Brest was a bit of a let down. I liked the creme mousselline but the choux was soggy and did not include any almond (at least none that I could taste) which I had enjoyed in the Paris Brest I had in the past. Maybe the almond is optional. I don't claim to be an expert but this is just what I recall from my past experiences. The baguette was great. It is everything you want in a beautiful baguette. It was crusty, soft inside, tasted and smelled delicious. The 2 of the 4 butter croissants I bought were obviously over baked. I feel like if you charge $4.50/croissant the quality should be higher. Just came back from France and this cafe hits it right out of the park! The French onion soup is the best I've tasted, but you have to call ahead to see if that's the soup du jour. I hope they make it a regular menu item. The jalapeño danish and jalapeño croissant are amazing. Then there are his delicious desserts. The eclairs are excellent, as are the pain au chocolat. My friend and I weren't enjoying the flan very much as it reminded me of the texture of agar jello. I'm glad they've expanded their hours to later in the evening. I'll be there more often. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I don't even live close and I go all the time. My daughter had their desserts for her birthday party. All the kids loved them and the kids ages ranged from 2-9. The adults also loved them. E everyone was silent while they ate. Everything is so good, I easily spent $80+ every time I go in. The stuff isn't even expensive. I just buy a lot. The chef also likes making new things and then I have to try them like the pear eclair in the picture which should be a regular item in my opinion. When I get married, these are the deserts I want. When I die, I want these served at my funeral. I'm so grateful I live 20-30 minutes away or I'd be so fat. Everyone who works there is super nice too and answers questions. This is the kind of restaurant that needs to exist and become a community cornerstone.
