Cute cozy vegan cafe on Green St. Pasadena. They also have their wine bar/restaurant next door. Stopped by to check out and tried their pistachio financier, matcha tart and their 7 citrus black tea. I was advised that the financier was gluten free. They also have macaron that's very lovely as well and gluten free. I tried the lemon! Please do let the staff know if you have celiac. I have gluten intolerant and I was fine after consuming their pastries. The financier is lovely and not so sweet. Matcha is very much present and the cream on top is not sweet, great balance and lovely companion to the matcha itself. The tea is great to drink with the sweets, you can taste the orange citrus and grapefruit flavor comes in to balance it out. It was about after 8:20 pm and they said they are extending their bakery hour for people to come in and enjoy. It was very lovely to sit and enjoy the dessert, in a nice quiet night. Alfredo, one of their staff showed their tea menu and also let us smell the different tea buds scents for us for later time. He also mentioned about their tea set with the chef's choice of pastries. He's very friendly and helpful and very welcoming. Certainly will go back and try their other pastries and tea. *Meter Parking is available on street and there's also a parking lot on De Lacey Ave between Green and Colorado, which is $1 for 2 hour parking. Be careful on being good feeding those meters if you're staying long and parking on street since Pasadena is pretty strict on their parking regulation and they have parking officers constantly monitor it. read more

Absolutely phenomenal pastries, look at this case! The Halloween treats were bar none. We had the macarons which were surprisingly fluffy and light, very flavorful. Oh my god! Thanks to my good friend Rosette for introducing me to this amazing French (and vegan - although you would never know) bakery! Emily and Albert at the counter were super friendly and helpful and Chef Romy too! Had the chocolate croissant (ohhh sooo good) and green tea (very nice). I have been dying to come here for a while and it did NOT disappoint! My friend and I shared the afternoon tea and it was amazing. All the food as well as the tea, were delicious. The lemon meringue tart was so good. Best meringue - vegan or otherwise - that I've ever had! And their Dubai chocolate bite with the chocolate mousse is addicting - I took a few home for later. I want to start this review by saying that I really wanted to love this bakery but I was honestly let down. The baked goods in the window looked beautiful and is what drew me in. I ordered several items: Focaccia, Vanilla Eclair, Paris Brest, Butter Croissants and a Baguette. I happen to snag the last focaccia which was a bit dry around the edges but very flavorful, fluffy and moist once I took a few more bites towards the middle. The vanilla eclair was delicious and had great vanilla flavor but the Paris Brest was a bit of a let down. I liked the creme mousselline but the choux was soggy and did not include any almond (at least none that I could taste) which I had enjoyed in the Paris Brest I had in the past. Maybe the almond is optional. I don't claim to be an expert but this is just what I recall from my past experiences. The baguette was great. It is everything you want in a beautiful baguette. It was crusty, soft inside, tasted and smelled delicious. The 2 of the 4 butter croissants I bought were obviously over baked. I feel like if you charge $4.50/croissant the quality should be higher. I came here after hearing about the vegan tea service. And it did not disappoint. The service was well presented and included tea, scones, sandwiches, soup, and desserts. I can't believe it was only $35pp. The chef came by our table and brought my cousin gluten free sandwiches when we realized that they had gluten. Just came back from France and this cafe hits it right out of the park! The French onion soup is the best I've tasted, but you have to call ahead to see if that's the soup du jour. I hope they make it a regular menu item. The jalapeño danish and jalapeño croissant are amazing. Then there are his delicious desserts. The eclairs are excellent, as are the pain au chocolat. I can't say enough good things about this place. I don't even live close and I go all the time. My daughter had their desserts for her birthday party. All the kids loved them and the kids ages ranged from 2-9. The adults also loved them. E everyone was silent while they ate. Everything is so good, I easily spent $80+ every time I go in. The stuff isn't even expensive. I just buy a lot. The chef also likes making new things and then I have to try them like the pear eclair in the picture which should be a regular item in my opinion. When I get married, these are the deserts I want. When I die, I want these served at my funeral. I'm so grateful I live 20-30 minutes away or I'd be so fat. We tried many different things. Although we were going to another stop, I couldn't try everything I wanted. We tried a few sweet and savory things. My favorites were the jalapeno croissant and the pistachio elcair. The jalapeno croissant had a great amount of spice, speaking from a person who loves spicy food. The service was so amazing, they were friendly and helped us navigate the menu. The ambiance was great, too. I would normally get things to go but there was an open table and we just wanted to sit, enjoy and slow down before going about the rest of the day. Their classic plain croissant (get it when they release a new batch in the morning) tastes as good as a real, butter croissant, except it's vegan! Flaky, crispy, it's total fire and delish! They are known for their eclairs (it's in their name ID-Eclair). They have so many interesting flavors! And it rotates every week i think. The Millefeuille / Napolean, Paris Brest and their seasonal French Currant eclairs were totally fire and worth ordering! Great pastry shell that tastes like the real eclair shell (but with no dairy used), creamy filling. Their mushroom danish was totally a must order as well. It tasted flaky, cheesy, full of umami, but again, it was dairy-free. Amazing. Their radicchio salad with walnuts and vegan blue cheese (wut?!) tasted just like actual blue cheese! Totes crazy. It's about time an all vegan bakery opened up in Pasadena. Located on the edge of old town, this vibey and modern cafe offers a variety of vegan pastries, food, and drinks. One of my new favorite spots in town! I drove for an hour because this is the first place I found that serves vegan eclairs! I'm so excited they finally opened. Their food is delicious as well (I had tomato soup) and coffee is pretty good too. Not to mention great friendly service that I experienced: despite the location being busy their staff members took their time to help me make a choice, recommended their favorite soup and cleaned the table for me. This review is overdue. I've been vegan for 10 years and I've tried many vegan bacons... and the BLT I had here a couple months ago was one of if not THE best I've ever had. It was the sandwich du jour but I hope it's offered as a regular menu item. SO GOOD that I ate one there and ordered another for takeout. Update: Rather than take honest feedback in stride, the owner accused me of spreading "fake information"--when in reality, I simply described what I experienced as a paying customer. If something tasted off, or the process looked unclear, I'm allowed to say that. The chef clearly stated in his reply that he pre-makes the matcha mix every morning. That means the matcha they serve you is not fresh. It's been sitting and settling in that mix for hours, until they serve it to you. That is atrocious considering they charge $9.00 for a matcha. No wonder my stomach didn't feel great. Matcha lovers beware!!! I don't understand why he felt the need to tell me that he paid $20,000 for an Eversys Cameo espresso machine. If you read his reply, he expected me to ask about how expensive his machine is. No, this is not what makes a coffee shop. A great barista and great coffee beans make a great shop... not an automatic push-button espresso machine. If the owner is so defensive about his coffee (that I didn't even try), then maybe it's just like his matcha. read more
