Fun gimmicks, and decent recipes, but not a ton to get excited about. Very basic sterile environment with a couple of freeze plates to make your ice cream concoction upon. To expect anything in the way of ambience. You're going to be eating outside or taking it with you to go anyway, as their recipes taste better after they start to melt a little bit. Staff seemed pleasant enough, but it's hard to rely give a fair shake at rating service from people rapidly turning out ice cream to a lot of young people until the middle of the night. On the other hand, if you finish up with dinner and you just need a quick place to go and smash some decent trendy ice cream type thing, then why not?
Great novelty ice cream place that's open late night. Love taking people here for the cool chopping, spreading, and rolling of ice cream. Each bowl is around $13 so it's not something for every day but a nice treat.
Icicles offers a unique made-to-order rolled ice cream experience where you can watch your dessert crafted from start to finish on a freezing metal plate. While the process was definitely fun to watch, I'm not sure the ice cream itself justifies the $13 price tag. Ordering is done at a kiosk where you can customize your ice cream by selecting a flavor and adding (free) toppings. Make sure to edit your item to include those toppings which are tucked away at the bottom. We opted for the cheesecake/flan ice cream and topped it with almonds, strawberries, lychee jelly, banana, and colorful mochi. Among the toppings, the mochi was a standout for its vibrant look and chewy texture, and the almonds added a nice balance to the sweetness of the ice cream. As for the ice cream itself, while rolling the ice cream is supposed to make the ice cream creamier and densor, I couldn't tell if the rolling process made a dramatic difference in texture or flavor. It was very cold from being made fresh, and it also was not overly sweet, but as we got to the bottom of the cup, it became a little too sweet and the rolls started to merge together. The portion for the ice cream is sizeable: we shared one cup among three people and were glad we didn't get a second. That said, I don't think I'd personally spend $13 on a cup again, but it was a novel experience watching the staff make it. Some thing to note is that there is no indoor seating, so you'll need to grab one of the outdoor tables and chairs if you plan to stay. It also looks like they used to have a self-serve boba option, but it wasn't available during our visit. Don't forget to add toppings!
I ordered the teas me (matcha + thai) but only got Thai tea ice cream there was a layer of toppings so I didn't realize at first but just disappointing..
The ice cream marshmallow bonfire was not good. The center texture is super strange. It does not taste like ice cream. It's way overpriced for $11.50. The service here was really bad upon entering. There is a young kid with curly hair on FaceTime with his girlfriend not even acknowledging our existence in the business and gave it to us while they're having a conversation on FaceTime. Ambience nothing special the inside and outside aren't clean (all the tables are dirty). Also, the bathroom has tons of graffiti.
The taste and the dedication they put to make the icicles is splendid thank you to Kevin for making my icicles just like when they started.I had stopped coming here because they where sloppy but definitely improved will be back and definitely recommend.Im a very satisfied customer.
I stopped by Icicles in San Jose recently and had a great experience.m The ice cream was really tasty; super fresh and full of flavor. I got the Strawberry Fantasy and definitely recommended. It kind of tastes like strawberry cheesecake. This location also has a boba machine where you can customize and make your own drink drinks. It's only two dollars per drink and I think this is the only location that has the boba machine. What stood out even more was the service. Hector helped me with my order, and he was awesome! Super friendly, shared suggestions and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. He even taught me to roll my own ice cream which is harder than it looks. Definitely planning to come back!
I haven't had Icicles since high school. This place is so good. I got the Oreo Blast with strawberry, banana, captain crunch, roasted marshmallow, and condensed milk. This combo is super yummy.
I love the ice cream, tasted yummy and was cool to watch but the lack of cleanliness and the smell of spoiled milk as I walked in was off putting. I questioned eating the ice cream after I saw how the tools were handle and the rag the use for sanitation was so dirty and smelly but they used it prior to making our icicles. This was a treat from a friend so I felt obliged to at least taste it in front of them but I couldn't stomach finishing it.
Very good but confused as to why my boyfriend got a full cup of ice cream yet mine was missing a roll in the middle. Not sure if I would go here again if they're skimping out on the ice cream while I'm paying $15 for a cup
Never had this type of ice cream before! Ordering was super easy at the kiosk but and our ice cream was given to us really promptly. However there weren't that many people and I can only imagine how long it would take if it were busy. The ice cream was really tasty, has a great creaminess to it that I don't think you really get with normal ice cream. I'd come again on a nice hot day!
I remember when this first came to the Bay Area. There were huge lines, and it was a neat concept of how they made their rolled ice cream. I had a chance to stop by again. Cool names and flavors. Nutella N' Chill: Bananas, nutella, & Graham crackers. Topped with mochi, strawberries, chocolate drizzle, & toasted marshmallow. The icecream was ok though a bit icy, but the toasted marshmallow was good! Oreo Blast: Regular Oreo. Basic, no frills, and simple.
This ice cream place is my favorite spot since Covid. I always get Tease me (match +thai tea) it so tasty and I like how the end and fill your cups with yummy stuff as many as you ask for. People are nice there and very clean. Their bathroom wasn't working!! read more

If you're craving rolled ice cream, Icicles is always a fun stop. Watching your ice cream get made right in front of you is half the experience, and they do it fast without sacrificing quality. The texture is super creamy, and there are tons of mix-ins and flavor combos to choose from, so you can get creative or stick with a classic. Portions are generous, and the presentation is Instagram-worthy every time. read more
Nice spot in downtown Willow Glen for rolled ice cream. The menu has a lot of different options for flavors and toppings. When I came it was kiosk ordering only. Each of the ice creams is ~$13 but they are pretty large. They have a summer special right now too, a build your own boba for $2 which is a great deal. Not sure if they rotate the toppings & tea options, but they had jelly toppings (no tapioca), and majority milk tea options. You can choose your own sweetness, ice levels, and how much toppings you add. The milk tea taste is average but for $2 you can't beat that price read more

The customer service absolutely sucks, rude and disrespectful to my 83-year-old mother-in-law. Ordered a Boba drink and after paying for it then they tell me they don't have a certain type and I have to make my own and it tasted like crap. The ambience of the place is low class tables outside that are all busted up. Just nasty. I'll have pictures to show. I do not recommend this place at all. Take a look at the bathroom pic this shows how they care about their company. read more

Came here on a typical Monday afternoon and though pricey, it was worth the rolled ice cream run. It honestly reminded me of the time where they first opened and had booming business. Though the business is more reliant on automated systems rather than face to face interaction, their consistency on making ice cream has never really changed. The rolled ice cream is creamy -- if not, even creamier! The toppings were the cherry on top -- even in the literal sense too. Ambiance wasn't too bad -- although I wish there would have been more light and cleaner, but they can manage to do that better eventually. I'd come back to this location once more -- not even a long wait at all, and i was in an out of there in 10 minutes! read more
Since I was craving ice cream and was already in the area, I thought I'd get some Icicles after so long. When this place first opened, it was so popular and made people recognize Willow Glen haha. When you go inside, there's an ordering machine. They also have this cool futuristic looking boba dispenser but it's not functioning yet and takes up a lot of space in the already small store. Their menu is full of creative combos. Normally their ice cream is $12.50, but their deal of the day had plain vanilla and cookies + cream for $6. Happy that I got my favorite flavor for 1/2 price but wish I could I have tried the other flavors. For novel ice cream, it's expensive and the price has gone up significantly over the years. After you order, you can see the workers scrapping together the ice cream through the glass. Then you can get toppings and drizzles. Mine covered my ice cream so you can't really see the rolls haha Outside, there's a few seating and a cute elephant mural to take photos in front of! read more
We dropped by Icicles since we wanted a change in scenery from the usual milk tea. Such a blast from the past since we used to go back in the day when it first opened up. Surprisingly even though it was late and super cold in the night, there was still a crowd of people grabbing ice cream. The inside of the shop is quaint and mainly a waiting area. There was no cashier but rather a kiosk that everyone can order from. Not all the ice cream options were available! It wasn't specified if it was sold out or they don't serve those flavors later in the night! There are also tables outside for anyone who wants to have a seat, but beware - depending on the weather/time - it could be quite cold so I would recommend to bring a jacket. The prices are definitely high but the portion size is big - definitely shareable size - and it is unlimited toppings. It's also an experience watching the ice cream get prepared. Even the texture of the ice cream is different from the usual stuff you get from the store. I got the ube ice cream with coconut flakes, mochi, lychee jelly, and rainbow jelly and loved it! The only change I wish could be made is how sweet it is. Surprisingly a pleasant experience and this place will be our go to if we wanted a change in pace! read more

What a labor-intensive task! I will gladly pay this kind of price just to support the workers. Kudos to them. There'll be a line because it takes time to make the rolls. As far as the ice cream goes, it just wasn't too impressive. They provide different flavors. Alas, we couldn't discern them. Pina Colada tasted just like vanilla. Where was the mango in Berried in Mango? Quite a few of the items listed on the wall could not be found in their computer ordering system. read more

I visited this place with my family last night. The handmade rolls of ice cream are very good. The kids that made my ice cream were very fast and provided good service. The only thing I would suggest here is that they need to do a slightly better job cleaning the outside tables since you guys charge a fee for dining in. Thanks read more

Huge shoutout to Hector at Icicles! Super friendly, patient, and really took care of us. My ice cream came out perfect give that man a raise! read more
It's different I must say. It tasted like sorbet but the taste was unique and refreshing. It's interesting to watch them make your rolls. At $14 I think it's expensive. Seriously everything is overpriced these days. You can get gourmet dessert in sit down restaurants at this price. I don't mind it once for an experience. Not sure if it's a place one can afford to frequent often. read more
As Barbie sings in her Title Sequence for her series on Netflix, "So much to see, so much to do Let's share a dream, make it come true Don't hesitate, just take my hand Anything's possible, take a stand". Icicles is doing just that as they've integrated a "DIY boba system" which has so much to see as barbie would say. Once you ask for a cup to begin the cup is iced. There are several automatic dispensers providing a broad range of all sorts of toppings. My friend was so stupid that he filled his entire cup with strawberry jelly... at the end you are given the only option of green tea to choose from, and making your drink into.a milk tea you must ask the employee to fill your cup with one scoop of custard. Overall, not bad at all! I chose the matcha boba which kind of disappointed me. The only kinds of toppings provided are all low maintenance refillable and have a long shelf life. I was hoping that the matcha boba would have been like the green boba that tastes serves, but i took one for the team. The only thing that i don't like is how the inside of Icicles is no cafe to hang out and chill with your friends as the inside has no open tables or chairs while waiting for you order. Now that the boba machines have been introduced, it just creates a wall like the great one you can see in china.. but this one not so great. If you haven't watched ,"All of Us are Dead" where in order to keep the zombies away a furniture barricade is made.snd this reminded me of just that. I can safely say that i survived the apocalypse thanks to icicles boba machines lastly, before i forget, big thank you to the beautiful Kylee for being so sweet, friendly, and patient with us walking us through the whole process. Keep up the good work and don't forget to tip! read more

I had Nutella N Chill with Lichi jelly , Rainbow Boba balls, chocolate fudge etc added to our ice cream. I make a point to visit this place on the weekend to have their delectable ice creams. It takes care of my sweet tooth and I am addicted to their ice cream. They have lot of options to pick from and every time I am savoring a new flavor. This outlet is located in one of the prime location, which is well lit up and is quite happening even in the night time. read more

Can someone tell me why this ice cream is so good? Can someone also tell me why he told my friend Kardin "tease me" but little did we know he was talking about ice cream. Silly mistake! ice cream was great but there is a male worker who has long hair and glasses, who was complaining about being busy out loud making sure he was being heard by the customers and said how he wishes everyone would just go to ben and jerry's or safeway to get ice cream. I worked in ice cream before and I know how insane it gets but that's unprofessional. Complain all you want when you're closed. Also the music there is insane they play some wild songs which use disgusting words. read more

There is no phone number listed on any site. Do they have one?
Jimmy that number is incorrect and I also can't find one anywhere, is this intentional?

Can ownership do a better job at getting customers to wait in an orderly line? The crowd is taking over the sidewalk and pedestrians can get by.
Of course! We have dividers and signs to ensure people don't crowd the sidewalk. Thanks for asking!
