We ordered the Girls Just Wanna Have Flan (vanilla based with cheesecake bites, condensed milk, and caramel). We topped it off with more cheesecake bites, strawberries, toasted marshmallow, and mochi. Delivery order review: Ordering ice cream on a hot day could go terribly wrong. I honestly was 50/50 whether our order would arrive a melty mess but despite being 15 min from Icicles our order of 4 arrived fresh, well packaged and not melted at all! Each order was packed in a container in a separate and sealed paper bag with a spoons napkin. The boba topping was in its own cup which was genius since it was still warm and would have melted the ice cream. Along with the impressive delivery packing, the ice cream itself was delicious! We had two orders of the Fruit Roll Up (tart and perfect for our non dairy eaters) and an order of Wake Me Up and Nutella N Chill (very tasty but not overly rich). The $12 per cup price tag on Door Dash was a little higher than expected but one cup was more than enough for some of us adults to share. I came here last night for rolled ice cream after dinner with friends. I enjoyed my ice cream but I wasn't wowed. I think I had high expectations and expected lots of flavor, especially for the 10 dollar asking price. Instead, I experienced more cream and little flavor. For example, my ice cream was called Oreo Blast. It only had 2 oreo cookies and was mixed with ample amounts of cream over a freezing metal dish with what looked like a paint stripping tool. It was pretty bland even though dusty toppings were poured over it. My wife and friends also experienced the same issue. Mostly cream and barely any flavor as minimal berries were used for a berry flavor or minimal ingredients used for the Reece's Peanut butter banana flavor. Too me, the rolled ice cream here seems more like a trendy gimmick and not worth any more of my money due to the lack of flavor and hefty price. I'd stick to Coldstone if you want decadent flavor or a local gourmet ice cream. read more

This was my first time at Icicles. IMPORTANT: Parking is very tough on Fri- Sunday in this area so should just park a block or two,away and walk. Many businesses have signs that heir lots are private and there is no after hour parking so be careful. Fortunately when I arrived the line was only about 10 deep. When you enter you can see are the workers busy as their stations making your creation. You can order anything you want on the menu and they give you unlimited toppings at no charge which is good considering it's 9 bucks for an Icicle. I was greeting with a big smile from a nice young woman and ordered the Reese's with chocolate waffle bites, toasted marshmallow, chocolate chips and toasted coconut. I then moved over to the mixing station and watched my creation turn from a liquid mash to my curled up Icicle in a few minutes. The curls of ice cream are arranged end on end inside a cup to make them look like a nice design. You then get to put more toppings on top and as many as you like. I got mine to eat there and sat down inside to enjoy my creation. It was really good. My back was to the door eating but when I was done and turned around (about 8pm) the line went outside and down the building! Probably 40 people deep. Extremely bad experience I had at the store. I've been coming here for the past 1 month almost regularly and they have customized a drink (I can't have sugar), it's quite simple just needs milk. The folks at the store I met this afternoon -lied to an extent by suggesting - they never have milk at the store!! Whereas every single day I've come here to grab the drink with milk! The guy also mentioned - he's at the store everyday so maybe I'm lying. STAY AWAY from this store - this is customer experience at its WORST. I won't be visiting again - don't want to deal with Bad attitudes. EDIT: Please see the review posted below by the owner to see how good of a customer service you can get at the store. I did visit the store again- and the staff told me that they were briefed "just that day" to stop providing milk. So yes, they did use milk and randomly 1 day, because of my post stopped serving it. Some of the employees here are definitely not friendly. It seems as if you're supposed to treat THEM as if THEY are the customers and you the employee. I went in and asked for my to-go order. The lady at the to-go line told me "it's not ready yet" after I gave her my name. I checked 10 minutes later, and she said "in 5 minutes." Many other people were getting their orders with no problem, even after they arrived after me. I wondered if she understood me, so I asked again for my order about 20 minues after it was supposed to have been ready. She asked someone else who brought it out from the freezer right away. I asked if it had been ready the whole time, and the other lady said "yes." As any customer would, I was upset and asked if the lady who kept telling me it wasn't ready spoke English since she clearly didn't understand me. That's all! That simple sentence. For that simple little phrase, the head employee (an older man) there reported me to Doordash. To be honest, HE is the one that escalated the matter by acting as if I was attacking his own daughter. I guess Doordash doesn't believe in getting two sides of the story. Very poor customer service. It seems like I'm not the only reviewer who's complained about the poor customer service. Little M wanted to try the latest frozen treat trend. They look really cool, and the options are fun. I would have preferred to share one if we could have agreed on flavors. For some reason, I expected them to be sort of light and fluffy. They were quite dense, which is not a bad thing... I like dense ice cream. But not when they're serving you what seems to be close to a pint, with no smaller size options. And I get why there are no smaller size options. A lot of time and effort goes into each individual serving. I just didn't think the novelty of the rolling, which is cool, was quite worth the time, effort, and expense. Flavor was good. But I think I prefer a tiny scoop of good gelato over this mammoth, beautiful creation with unlimited toppings. I'm a minimalist, I guess. read more

My friend who lives in Pleasanton took me to this place because it was a MUST to try! And I'm so glad we had ice cream here! Not only is the freshly-rolled ice cream interesting, they have AVOCADO ice cream that couldn't be fresher. Before my eyes--a fresh avocado chopped, sliced, rolled into ice cream, a flame, marshmallow torched--the creation happens so fast it's like what just happened but a delicious concoction. Yes, you can get a toasted marshmallow as a topping. These guys are professionals! Avocado, strawberries, and marshmallow. OMG. This is my first time trying rolled ice cream and it was so amazing. The line was long, but given that it probably takes 5 minutes or so for each creation, it was understandable. There's about 5 ice cream makers and 2 of them are for nut allergies. When they're ready for your cup, they call out your name. Watch and be dazzled. To start off with, two of us paid around $15, which is a little pricy. You are really paying for the experience, the effort and show because they make it in front of you. Once in a while is just right for this novel ice cream experience that resembles ice cream made like this in Thailand. You get to pick a flavor- there are pre-made dairy and non dairy flavors. My friend got the avocado and I got the strawberry lemonade flavor. Then the process begins. They flatten on the liquid on a frozen metal plate, then once frozen, they will make curls of ice cream and arrange them neatly in the bowl. After that, you get to add any toppings you want, much like froyo places. I like the wide array of toppings possible such as pretzel, chocolate drizzle, popping boba, fresh fruit, and more. The ice-cream was rather good on a warm day, but next time I wouldn't get graham cracker with the strawberry lemonade flavor because it got all soggy.(My bad.) I absolutely love this spot. It's a tucked away gem in downtown Pleasanton. They offer hand rolled ice cream that is made right In front of you. You select your flavor, it is put onto a cold plate where it's is worked until it is cold enough to roll into their signature delectable ice cream rolls.... then you select you toppings. I always go with the coco-nanas, which is a coconut, (dairy free), based ice cream and it's delicious! I finish it off with mochi, toasted coconut, and condensed milk for the win! I hate to give a bad review but this was not the rolled ice cream experience. Daughter has been begging to get rolled ice cream forever. We found this shop in downtown P-town so we were excited. I always love getting the "Nutella and chill" flavor and always get no bananas. I've had it happen a couple of times where even though the person at the register put no bananas, the person making my ice cream was still about to put some in there and I had to let them know not to; today I didn't watch them make my ice cream and once I tried it, you can taste the strong banana flavor and I even bit into a squishy piece of banana as I was having it. I went back and told the person who took my order and he kept saying no there's no banana in there and he watched and made sure the other person didn't put any bananas. Well it tastes like banana and I told him he can try it to see I'm not just saying that for no reason; then he says maybe it's cause of our tray since we make ice cream on it everyday!!! Shouldn't the trays be cleaned?? My dad ended up having the ice cream and he even found pieces of strawberries in there. If I'm ordering something that's not supposed to have fruits, I really should not be tasting different flavors in there! This place was so cute! It is the little rolled ice cream and it had tons of options as toppings! We happened to just eat by there on Father's Day and of course the kids NEVER say no to ice cream. I got the Strawberry (it was graham cracked and condensed milk I think) with strawberries, marshmallows and other sugary delights lol! Super friendly staff and relatively fast. It was hot that day so we just hung out in the shade on the bench outside until our ice cream was ready. This place has some of the best ice cream around. Their flavors are top notch and with Door Dash, the ice cream doesn't melt despite the delivery time. It may actually be beneficial to get it delivered so the ice cream has a little bit of time to soften so it's perfect to bite into when you get it. However, the caveats to the taste is price. Each cup is a little over $12 with tax. You can get a pint at a grocery store for about $6 which is about twice the volume. The secons caveat is that for the price you think you get more toppings, but unfortunately they don't quite give as much as you would hope. I counted 6 mochi balls in mt icicles last time. But despite the issues with price and topping quantity, the flavor is really solid and I have already had it twice in a week. read more

Even though the kids working at the shop are rotating every time I visit, the quality of ingredients and the way the end result turns out always is sooo good. I think Icicles makes sure that they train their employees really well so the customers enjoy their ice creams every single time. I remember when I first saw s video of a Thai street vendor making rolled ice cream rolls. It was like Cold Stone but starting with even more basic with cream. Icicles recreates the spectacle that is rolled ice cream, making for a great show for my kids. They loved hearing there name called as the store employee began to make their order. 1) it can get quite busy. Each order is hand made and is thus very laborious. They had two employees rolling ice cream but it looks like they can go up to 5. Be prepared to wait. 2) each order is $8.25, which adds up quickly if you bring your family. It's certainly not cheap but it's definitely a special treat. You can get various toppings but there really isn't much space to really load up like a froyo place. 3) eat it right away. One of the best parts about this is seeing the ice creamed rolled and then experiencing that unique texture. It's similar in some ways to the shaved ice cream at Frozen cafe.
