I remember when I first saw s video of a Thai street vendor making rolled ice cream rolls. It was like Cold Stone but starting with even more basic with cream. Icicles recreates the spectacle that is rolled ice cream, making for a great show for my kids. They loved hearing there name called as the store employee began to make their order. 1) it can get quite busy. Each order is hand made and is thus very laborious. They had two employees rolling ice cream but it looks like they can go up to 5. Be prepared to wait. 2) each order is $8.25, which adds up quickly if you bring your family. It's certainly not cheap but it's definitely a special treat. You can get various toppings but there really isn't much space to really load up like a froyo place. 3) eat it right away. One of the best parts about this is seeing the ice creamed rolled and then experiencing that unique texture. It's similar in some ways to the shaved ice cream at Frozen cafe. Pretty good but can get crowded pretty quickly. Food 4/5 - Probably could be a 5 star easy if there was a completely mind blowing combo, however if I do find an amazing combo and update is guaranteed. I like the fact that you can have as many toppings as you want and also the wide variety of toppings to pick from. Also they have milk alternatives so its enjoyable for everyone. Parking - Street parking, but if there is an event going on nearby hope for the best as spots fill up quick. Located in the heart of downtown Pleasanton, Icicles has been a really popular addition to the area. So after seeing so many people talk about this place and the massive line, I thought "might as well try it." The way it works is you order what you want and give them your name. Once that is done a person calls your name where they make your ice cream in front of you. Once they are done you go to the toppings counter where they finish putting a bunch of toppings on and you are good to go (you pay in the beginning. This ice cream shop is definitely different than your typical ice cream place and offers a cool experience, but it was just alright. I get it, rolled ice cream is IG worthy, but there are two factors that disappointed me. It is a bit pricy (over $7) for ice cream and it just tastes meh. Nothing really to write home about. I got a the coffee ice cream and again it was just alright. I can see myself coming here again if someone I know wanted to go, but I don't think I will ever have a craving to come. What a mesmerizing experience! I love watching them make the ice cream every time we go. It doesn't get old! The ingredients are real and chopped up and incorporated into the ice cream as they make it. I havent had a flavor yet that I haven't liked, but my favorite is definitely the Strawberry Fantasy (strawberries and graham crackers) or maybe the Nutella and Chill (bananas, nutella and graham crackers).... So delicious!!! And unlimited toppings!! The hubs thinks it is too expensive at $7, but for a special treat, I think it is worth the visit. This place was packed on a weekend! The line was out the door and there were tons of people inside. The service was friendly and quick. The ice cream looks really unique since it's rolled up and it's fun to watch the servers make it but it's pricey at $7 a cup. They do give you a lot of ice cream (around a large size at other places) but it would be nice to have different sizes. The ice cream itself was creamy and tasty. I got the Strawberry Fantasy which has strawberries, graham crackers, and condensed milk. If you want your toppings mixed inside then make sure to let the person know when you order at the register. Otherwise the toppings will go on top. My fiance got the Wake Me Up which was hazelnut coffee. The toppings they offer are really tasty - you can choose things like oreos, mochi, roasted marshmallow, cereal, fruit, nuts, etc. Overall I wouldn't get this too often since it's expensive but might be a nice treat once in awhile. read more

I've been wanting to try thai rolled ice cream from when I first saw a videos on Facebook. When I heard that Icicles replaced Yolatea (from whem I was in high school), I had to try it out. My first impression was that the high school kids that are employeed here get put to work! My boyfriend paid for my ice cream, and I had no idea that it cost so much! $7 without tip, and you should tip because these kids work so hard! Constantly making rolled ice cream after rolled ice cream. Overall, my ice cream tasted okay, and it was just shaped differently. Also my boyfriend's sobert rolled ice cream was kinda messed up. I went with the expectation that it would be fun to try this ice cream gimmick I've seen online and that I probably wouldn't return for the ice cream itself - but I 100% will. Although I expected the ice cream to be icey based on how they prepare it, it's super dense and creamy. The portion size was pretty big so you can definitely share. We didn't have to wait in line but after we ordered the line was out the door. Atmosphere/Service This place is much larger then the San Jose one. There are more seats and standing space inside! I think ordering is a bit hectic in that you really have to listen to your name being called out otherwise you can miss your order. I would suggest keeping an eye out for the cup that the cashier writes your name on when you originally place your order! The staff seems very friendly. Wait wasn't bad compared to San Jose, probably around a 15 minute wait. Dessert Ice cream is pretty pricey here, around $7 for one. They don't come in sizes, but its a good portion for two people to share! I got a cereal killer. If you've been to NYC, it's really reminiscent to the KITH cereal ice cream. Toppings are unlimited which is always a plus in my opinion! I think consistency was a bit flakey, but the staff who was rolling my icecream seemed new to the rolled ice cream concept. Finished lunch in downtown Pleasanton and our friend suggested stopping by Icicles. It was my first time getting the rolled up ice cream so of course I was excited! The place was spacious, clean and open. Plenty of seating and good customer service. I asked for the most popular flavor and it was mint Oreo cookies and cream. They call your name and you get to watch them make the ice cream rolls. There are also unlimited toppings you can put on top but I just asked for more Oreos. Cool experience and I'd get it again. Customer service is excellent every time the Mister and I stop by for a treat. After grabbing a bite in the Downtown Pleasanton area, this is a great place for some ice cream rolls. You pick the flavor and they hand make the ice cream dessert in front of you. Icicles has an array of flavors and toppings to choose from. I always have trouble deciding which flavor I want to try LOl. As if that wasn't hard enough to decide, you get unlimited toppings too!!! Don't let the long line intimidate you...it goes by soooo fast! Price is just right here. Note that there cups are one size and it's pretty big. When I can't finish one by myself, I usually keep it in the freezer for later. Overall shop is nice and clean.
