We dined here for our anniversary and were seated right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant had a pleasant Asian ambiance with soft background music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server warmly greeted everyone at the hibachi table, engaging with all groups in a friendly, lively manner. The chef delivered an entertaining show, complete with classic hibachi flair--catching veggie bites, an onion volcano, the "Choo Choo," and the playful "pee pee man" to douse the flames. My chicken and shrimp hibachi and my wife's steak and shrimp were delicious, though the meal was a bit pricey. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and interactive experience.

I hadn't been to Ichiban for years, but I was pretty impressed! Service was good, but VERY slow to get a table even while having a reservation. The hibachi was quick for those who ordered it and the veggie rolls were fresh and tasty!

The food here was pretty good. We ate at the bar and ordered the filet and shrimp. It had plenty of flavor and was enhanced by the Yum Yum sauce. The side of fried rice was a standard small sized bowl portion and I liked the ginger dressing on the salad before the meal. The lycheetini I drank was sweet and potent and came with a lychee garnish. Franco, our bartender/server, was fun and engaging and working super hard to make all the drink orders for the tables on a busy Saturday night. Tip these servers well. They are hardworking and so nice! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The booths with curtains on them looked cute and cozy too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Food is amazing. I sat in the dining room and the food was served quick. The drink was strong and was worth the money. I was able to share it with a friend. Server was friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place is clean and nice![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I give them 10/10 due to the food, the customer service and the drinks! Came here to celebrate with my sorority and the dinner was excellent from beginning to the end. We were blessed to have a cook that knew what he was doing because the food was so flavorful and filling. The filet mignon I got was very tender and he was not afraid to add any extra garlic butter. If you ask me, Ichiban is better than Benihana by far and I love this location. Can't wait to go back!

We came here and were seated right away. We chose to sit at a booth and not watch our food being cooked in front of us. There were several booths and private areas with curtains located inside of the business. There is also a bar inside. I ordered the hibachi salmon that was served with fried or white rice, vegetables, ginger salad, and soup. Sauces were also served on the side. Everything was really good except the salad. The ginger dressing on the salad was watery and unlike any ginger dressing I've had in the past. The portion size of my meal was large and more meat than you get at other hibachi restaurants. Our server was attentive and nice. I would def come back.

Ichiban is a good place for both hibachi and sushi. You'll always have plenty of leftovers! Restaurant is set up typical hibachi style, with multiple seats around each grill area. They do the usual hibachi entertainment and staff is always super friendly! This time we ordered take out, and it's never as good as being in person, but all the items we ordered were correct. When you order hibachi, it comes with both miso soup and a salad. Yum yum sauce is always a must!!

I used to go to Ichiban quite regularly when I worked over at Saint Joe's. Some of my coworkers really loved the grilled items. I have always been a sushi girl. it's been a while since I've been to Ichiban so I decided to give it a whirl. The Did Cora look pretty much unchanged since the last time I was there. I ordered a carry out for two pieces of salmon nigiri, one piece of scallop and a rainbow roll. The salmon was tender, the scallop was tender and buttery. I was not as happy with the rainbow roll. Some people may like it this way but I like my California rolls and rainbow rolls to have crabs salad in them. I think that the krab stick alone is just too dry. But that's my tastes you might like it other ways. It was a carry out order so I can't comment on the beer selection. But it was a solid meal and I would go back again.

I definitely loved this restaurant. We definitely will be going back. The food was phenomenal. I recommend the salmon and vegetables with rice.

Wow. This place has it all…read more Sister and I went on a Friday night- quick service, quick food, AND the ladies who served us were so sweet, attentive, and absolutely the best. The inside is so cute and the plates are so pretty too! Not only are the physical dishes cool, but the presentation of the sushi was too! I got 2 orders of the simple tuna, and one New York. My sister got an order of the California rolls and 2 shrimp tempura orders. Presentation was fantastic, and the sushi was divine. The salmon was so tender and almost buttery in consistency, and the veggies inside the rolls are so fresh and crisp. I always find sushi so refreshing and it hit the spot. I'd also like to mention how fantastic they are about dietary restrictions. Tons of vegan/vegetarian options PLUS GLUTEN FREE SOY SAUCE, APPS, AND A MENU. For the celiacs out there: I didn't get glutened! They took it seriously and I had no issues! If you're not sure where to go, go to Kanbu. The entire meal was around $65, and we had a lot of sushi plus a massive pot of tea. Sushi can be so expensive and I find this place to have great prices, especially for the size and quality of sushi! If you want to support authentic, local places in Ann Arbor, go to kanbu! My only regret is that I didn't take pictures.

The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.

It came with a salad which I really enjoyed and was packaged nicely. The workers are lovely and try hard but need to be educated more. To be clear I am blaming this on the owner/manager. They should do a crash course on sushi for everyone that works there. Regardless I would happily go back, it's really excellent sushi and the rice is perfect.

I even visited twice before writing this review because I wanted to be fair. Both times, I ordered the bento box (tried the chicken, salmon, and beef). The sushi (California rolls), however, was the highlight : fresh, generous, and delicious! I really appreciated that part. For improvement, Some small details could make a big difference. For example, they didn't have yum yum sauce, and the salad portion was quite small and it is just cucumber. The service could also be more attentive ( though the owner personally checks on guests, which shows her genuine care and hospitality.) The restaurant is clean and cozy, with a nice atmosphere. I love that they use a digital menu, but a little more explanation of the dishes would help guests choose more confidently. Overall, with a lot of work and effort, this place has good potential and a lot of heart behind it for a small business.
