This place was so super busy on the weekend when we came in. My friends has some ice cream & I had a choose your own ingredients crepe. I chose to have nutella & peanut butter in mine with some banana. It took a while for me to get my crepe because they were so busy. I will say I think they tried their best. I think they need more staff there especially on the weekends! As for my crepe it was pretty average. The batter wasn't that flavourful & the crepe itself was overstuffed. This dessert spot is a great place to hang or chill out while you're waiting for your favourite dinner spots. There's a nice parkette outside that can see the hub of the plaza . Where people can ice skate or the pets can walk and kids can play. My gf wanted the waffles so we immediately got them. She was craving one of her alltime favourite waffle ice cream places in her hometown . And she said it's very close but not that one. Waffles are my weakness, whether they be sweet or savoury. At Ice 'n Cake, there are plenty of choices for both and you can even customize your own. Besides waffles and crepes, they also have other desserts such as cakes, macarons, and of course, gelato. It's located right in the middle of the Shops at Don Mills and they are usually pretty busy. I can never choose between sweet and savoury so my friend and I got one each to share. The Nutty Professor ($9.95) was so good. They put a lot of almond slices and it paired so perfectly with the Hazelnut gelato and toffee sauce. For the savoury crepes, you can choose up to three toppings for ($8.95) or + 95 cents for additional toppings. My toppings of choice were turkey, red pepper, and eggs. Again, everything went so well together. The crepe itself had a small hint of sweetness to it that complimented the savoury ingredients. The prices are standard and I think that it's also a pretty good portion size.. we were so full and weren't able to finish either dishes. I would also recommend the Affogado. You can choose any flavour of gelato to go with it but they recommend either Vanilla or Hazelnut. It was soo good. They use Illy coffee which is a quality brand. This review is only for their gelato. My husband and I have been coming here for good two years now and my favorite is anything "yogurt" there. They often have yogurt+figs, yogurt+berries, etc, and since I am not a huge fan of ice cream that's too sweet, their fruit+yogurt gelato hits the spot real nice. If you like bit of the tangy flavor with bit of sweetness, I highly recommend that.y husband's favorite is coconut, Nutella and hazelnut. I must admit their coconut is quite nice. They do get really busy on hot days and also on weekends, so be prepared to wait in line. It's a nice place to hang out with family or friends any day until midnight. So a 3 star, but the drinks offered are just so poor. We had tea and hot chocolate. Hot chocolate as they named it "real hot chocolate" was like luke warm milk with a hint of cocoa, was terrible. Tea was fine. The dessert portions are exceptionally large, but taste is just average. This place is unique 'coz it's a place to go when nothing else is open and you don't wanna go to a bar. There is a lot of sitting space, both indoor and outdoor. It's located @ shops at Don Mills and the store is facing the garden square, which is a social hub. It doesn't help that you line up to pay, and then you have have to line up again for the gelato counter. So expect there to be a wait between your need for gelato and actually getting something sweet in hand. I opted out of the gelato line and got a large square of Nonna's Tiramisu instead. It was delicious but light enough that I could easily devour the generous portion with little issue. If you are going with a few people it is best to order several scoops in a bowl instead of every individual getting one scoop. The pricing for additional scoop is only $1-$2 more while getting the first scoop is ~$5. Don't hesitate to ask to try each flavour before picking, the servers are more than patient in helping you decide. For gelato my top picks are pistachio, ferrero rocher, stracciatella as these are commonly served in most places. Pistachio - Not bad, the pistachio taste doesn't stand out too much but its there Ferrero Rocher - strong hazelnut and chocolate flavour, a little sweeter then the chocolate Stracciatella - milk based dessert that is simple in it's taste, hard to mess up Stracciatella is my personal favourite and always compliments any other gelato. I do not suggest, if your getting 3 scoops, strong flavour combinations because it will be too overwhelming and not the greatest when eaten together.
