A cute cafe on Yonge and Sheppard that I've seen online a lot! I was quite excited to give this spot a try since the photos looked amazing. Strawberry matcha bingsu: Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The portions were much smaller than what I thought it would be. Generous amount of toppings but there wasn't enough shaved ice base to balance with the toppings. Visited on a Friday evening, it was quite busy but still was able to manage to get a spot. This cafe is cute and cosy. I appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. Didn't know there was also seating at the back of the cafe until we were leaving. We ordered the mango bingsu and the pistachio bingsu. Both were delicious but I had a slight preference for the pistachio, maybe because it was a cooler evening, so the warm, nutty flavour of the pistachio was much appreciated. High quality bingsu with a cute atmosphere! 4 out of 5 stars because I will admit it is a little pricy for the portion they give out but I'd say this is one of the better bingsu spots I've tried in the GTA. My brother and I ordered a strawberry matcha bingsu without red bean and we both really enjoyed it. Walked past this cafe and decided to try! Located on the second level, you are met with the coffee bar upon the top of the stairs. They have seating in the back near the restrooms and at the front as well but it was pretty packed on a Saturday afternoon. They do have a 2 hour seating limit but I did not see it being enforced super strictly. They have their wifi password posted on the walls. The menu is on the chalkboard but quite narrow hallway so hard to see. They do have paper menus at the cash. After ordering, you get a beeper to alert you when your items are ready. We ordered a flat white, injeolmi latte (not caffeinated and sweetened with condensed milk), and a dalgona latte (iced and large size only). The presentation was very cute. The injeolmi latte came with a small heart shaped skewer of mochi. All the cups are custom made and have KRAY on them and some decorative dots that may or may not trigger your trypophobia haha. My flat white was strong and I enjoyed it. The dalgona pieces were quite sweet but nice and crunchy and went well with the non sweetened latte base. Overall the prices are a bit higher especially for their food items like bingsu (super small size) and bungeoppang (fish shape pastry taiyaki) but everything looked delicious and the carrot cake looked super moist. My friend also got their yang-nyum chicken (which she said was pretty spicy). I enjoyed the mango binsu out of all three, the mangoes were really fresh and it was nice with the milk ice. The space is not accessible as there are a flight of stairs to navigate. Upon entering, if you are dining in, the staff will seat you to a table. There is a cute sticky-note wall for you to add your drawings or writings too which is nice. The space feels airy and bright, a perfect place to hang with friends or go on a date. We were not clear if a server would come to us to take our order or if we needed to go up to the cashier - we did ask staff and they were unclear as well where we could do both. We ended up just asking the server to take our order instead of going to the cashier. The water is also self-serve as well. Food and drink wise, we got the following items: - Dolce latte - Peaches and cream tea - Mango bingsu - Sweet potato bungeo-ppang I can only comment on the food items as my other friends had the drinks. The mango bingsu was delicious! The ice was shaved so finely it felt as if I was eating a cloud where it was soft in texture. The mango puree with the mangos was not too sweet. The only sad part was that the bingsu was not big enough! The sweet potato bungeo-ppang was also hot and fresh when it arrived at our table. The exterior of the bungeo-ppang was crispy and light while the inside was warm. Both items were delicious and you could tell they were made with care. Only complaint is that it is more on the expensive side. Service wise, staff were friendly and attentive. They also came by to check on us to make sure we were satisfied with everything. When my friend and I were looking for a cafe to study at, Cafe Kray seemed like the perfect place- with a serene and calm ambiance and a welcoming staff team to greet us, this was the perfect place for us to focus on our work. When looking for seating, the cafe as a whole seats about 30-40 customers in total. I've also noticed that reservations are allowed to be placed, which is also a plus. I love being the bearer of good news to say that yes there is free wifi, and for most of the seats there are outlet extensions underneath them to charge your devices. I ordered the vanilla latte and a confetti cookie, while my friend ordered an iced caramel latte, both of our orders for here. We were given a little buzzer for our order, so we were able to go and sit down until our drinks were made. Our drinks were given to us in reusable glasses and mugs (reusable!). The vanilla latte was not too sweet, you could tell these drinks had an Asian twist to it because it wasn't filled to the brim with sugar. The iced latte had just enough ice to chill the drink, not enough to make the drink not worth buying. The cookie was soft and chewy, complimenting the caffeine bitterness from the latte with its sweetness. Although the cafe does say they have a 2-hour seating/ wifi limit, the staff are not strict with the policy and will let you stay longer as long as you don't abuse the lenience. They also give out complimentary lemon water, which i think is a very nice touch. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about Cafe Kray, other than the fact that it is a little crowded at times. Their service and food/ drinks are worth the money, and next time we'll be coming back for their famous bingsu! read more

Menu comes with a little description and background of the food items. Our group ordered the matcha red bean Bing su and strawberry Bing su. The strawberry is refreshing but didn't quite get any strawberry flavours as the syrup is missing. The Bing su and the strawberries didn't quite mesh together in harmony, it's as if they don't know each other. The matcha Bing su was better. The matcha was blended quite well to the Bing su so you could taste the flavour in every bite. We also got the fish taiyaki in Nutella and red bean. Stumbled upon this cafe on a Friday evening. The sign for the place is quite small so it can be easy to miss and you do have to go up a flight of stairs. Upon entering, they give you the menu, you choose your seat, and then get up and order when you're ready. The menu had a wide selection from drinks to bingsu to korean nibbles such as tteokboki and bungeo ppang. I ended up getting the dalgona bingsu to split with my partner cause usually we never finish one on our own. Plus, I've never seen dalgona bingsu anywhere else. The portion was very small compared to what I expected for the price. I would say it's definitely not shareable compared to other bingsu places I've been. The bingsu had huge chunks of dalgona pieces on top, so they give you cups on the side to put those in. I feel like even tho the display was very asthetic, it was kind of inconvenient to eat. I had to remove all of the dalgona to get to the actual shaved ice at the bottom. The dalgona was too bitter to eat on its own, so I had to dig to the bottom and eat it with the bingsu in my little cup on the side. The shaved ice was also not as creamy as I would like, but that may be a personal preference. This review is purely for the dalgona bingsu as I didn't get a chance to try the other items, and those might be amazing. Been here twice and tried the choco bingsu and dalgona bingsu. Dalgona was definitely tastier, but both were delicious. I love the texture of the bingsu, it's so unique! It's about 15$ for one which is a little pricey but that's expected these days. The cafe itself is beautiful, but very small. It's also been very busy both times I've gone, leaving me waiting for a table or unable to get one. The staff are friendly and quick ! Overall definitely a must try read more

Ordered pistachio bingsu for takeout - be aware that takeout prices for bingsu are more expensive than dining in because the takeout portions are supposedly bigger. Would have been nice to know this before the bill being rung up. I had been looking at the menu outside earlier and saw that the pistachio bingsu was listed at $14.50 so you can imagine my surprise when the total came out to over $19. The bingsu itself was decent but nothing special - the menu description said it included mochi but there was only one piece of mochi in the whole container! The bingsu portion wasn't very large either, considering it cost almost $20. Staff there was quite friendly and happy to explain to me why the cost was more than what was listed on the menu, but needless to say, I won't be returning.
