I've not had the best experience getting meals from bakeries, and Cafe Cocoro continued that trend. Don't get me wrong: the place itself is great (clean, spacious, inviting; it's the type of place you can lounge in for hours), so plus points for that. It's the food that was just meh. Stopped by for lunch and got: - Korean Pancakes: Prepackaged, it still was pretty good (i.e., didn't just taste reheated). The dipping sauce accentuated the sweetness of the pancakes. - Bulgogi Bibimbap: Bulgogi was really bland and a tad dry, so had to put a lot of gochujang on the bibimbap. - Bulgogi Japchae: Agaìn, band and dry bulgogi. The japchae was good - soft and sweet. Also, generous serving that is shareable. - Mango Banana Smoothie: A bit lumpy, and more mango than banana. But great for a hot summer day. Quarantine Day 3: I'm really a sucker for cafes with awesome drinks AND real food (although baked goods do well too). For lunch fare for 2, I ordered way too much food: 1. A medium-sized side order of kimchi 2. Korean pancake 3. Bulgogi bibimbap 4. Bulgogi japchae 5. Bagel with bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato And of course, 6. A small matcha latte. I thought that the medium was a pretty good portion of kimchi. Probably enough for 3-4 people to share it as a side dish. The korean pancake was very yummy, especially when paired with the dipping sauce. I liked that both the bibimbap and japchae had a good amount of veggies. I found the bulgogi just a tiny bit dry. The bagel was panini pressed which was nice but it did toast up the lettuce which wilted it. The rest of the toppings were really good. The one thing I really didn't care for was the matcha latte. It was so sweet I didn't think I'd be able to finish it. The other thing is that it hardly tasted of matcha. The latte itself was pretty much white. That kind of told me that it wasn't mixed well and just didn't have any matcha in it. I'd skip this on my next UberEats order. read more

Small, cute cafe with really nice baristas! This place serves not just coffee, but a wide variety of pastries, breakfast foods like bagels, Korean side dishes (I saw some kimchi containers), and even lunch. Service was very friendly and warm - I stood there for quite a while trying to decide which dessert I wanted, and the woman behind the counter just smiled at me patiently the whole time. Coffee was good and prices are reasonable. Also really liked the plants by the window and the overall decor :) Only potential negative is the lack of sufficient seating - I went on a non-busy afternoon and got the last available spot. One of my favourite places! The moment you come close to the store, you can see through the giant windows at the simple but elegant decor. It gives off a very comfortable cafe feeling. You have to move the curtains to get in (so that cold air doesn't blow straight into patrons' faces - this is a great idea, by the way, and more places should do this!). It is brightly lit, and the windows allow natural light to filter in. The menu is medium sized. Entree wise, there are a limited number of choices, but all of them are good ones. There are some choices for snacks, both sweet and salty that they offer to warm up (ex. Korean pancakes). There is also a fascinating choice of Gelato (Gelato and Korean food - who'd have known?!). Drinks are also a fairly limited selection. Still, all quite good. Service is super friendly! Once you get to know Daisy, she gives you the warmest welcomes and chats with you. She gives very warm welcomes if she doesn't know you too, but it's nice to get to know her. All the staff are kind and try to be as helpful as they can. The place is also very clean. The staff are good at cleaning up after people leave and regularly make sure the floors aren't slippery (particularly in winter weather). The washrooms are also clean! There is a washroom upstairs for accessibility, but also one downstairs. The atmosphere is wonderful. It ranges from quiet cafe (acoustic covers of pop songs through the years play gently) or a chatty cafe. Regardless of the noise level, the welcoming feeling stays. It's also very kid-friendly. Toys and books are available (as well as child-sized drinks). There are a limited number of outlets, though, if you want to charge your devices as you work. So far, I've loved the tofu soups (with bugolgi or not) because of the cold weather. I'm sure in the summer, I'll go back to some of the other options, though! read more

I was really excited to get Bulgogi (Japchae, no Bibimbap) here, anticipating the absolutely delicious, national dish of Korea that is served with Kimchee -- salted, fermented vegetables. Instead of juicy, flavourful beef that is satisfyingly divine, I was served tough, dried out beef that was devoid of flavour. It was nothing like any Bulgogi I've had in Korean restaurants in several countries. The café is known for butter tarts, also something wonderful when you get a really well made, authentic one. This was neither tasty nor authentic. Café Cocoro disappointed in poor quality, inauthentic food; and it was made worse by the disinterested young male server. I was also charged for a miniscule tablespoon of hot sauce. Clean loos was the only good thing. read more

I went here around 2:00pm on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy. The space is bright, clean, and there are large tables where you can work. The barista was in training, but very nice. Staff seem to be ESL, but that wasn't a barrier to service, as they could communicate effectively and were very kind. Their special bar is amazing! It's this coconut bar that is so moist, fluffy, and almost creamy at the same time. It made me think of banana bread, but different. It's definitely worth trying. The Americano was standard flare. They don't advertise their WIFI password, but the staff put it directly in my phone for me - a little different, but I got connected. The music is quite loud, so It's not ideal for a work space, and moms with bucket loads of kids kept coming in. I almost want to say it's a young white mom hot spot, but hopefully that was only due to the time of day. It's one of a few new coffee places that seem to be opening up in the area, which is nice because this area is lacking in them. read more

I came here for lunch a ordered the Bulgogi . It was so tasty and I was so hungry I did not stop to take a photo. For dessert I had a coffee and a Bahamian (I think) version of pain-perdu, or Spanish budding , or like Martin B. Review shows banana bread but much lighter with coconut. I think it's their special bar. It is worth trying and reordering next time I'm close by. As others have mentioned, Cocoro is a real gem! A coffee shop, they also serve up delicious Korean dishes and gelato. Everything goes here: stop in for a coffee and dessert while studying, a coffee to go, lunch with friends, a smoothie for that afternoon burst of energy. The Korean dishes were really tasty, especially when compared to the standard cafe fare of sandwiches and salads. I had the bibimbap, and while no, it wasn't served in the traditional clay bowl, it was still really good! When we first came in and were deciding on lunch my son became enamoured by the cupcakes on display. We told him if he behaved and ate his lunch, we'd buy him a cupcake. That was a great incentive, so sure enough I kept my word and bought him a cupcake (and it was an excuse to get coffee for myself). I managed to sneak a bite of the cupcake: delicious! The coffee was really good too. The place is really welcoming. Everyone working was friendly and courteous. When we came in there was a table with a few adults and a bunch of kids, and our group had two kids. Excellent place for a good coffee or a big, hearty, spicy lunch. Loved the kimchi fried rice; very filling. Friendly service, good light, very clean, decent amount of seating, and even when it does get busy (mid-afternoon) it is still fairly quiet and doesn't feel cramped. Good place to get some work done, too. The one exception is December, when they play the most annoying Christmas music ever. Otherwise the soundtrack is quiet and unobtrusive. read more

Very nice new café in the area that specializes in the usual baked good but also some excellent Korean dishes. We had the Korean pancake for the kid, and the vegetarian Bibembop for us. All very good, but my wife noted that the dish was served in a regular bowl as opposed to a more traditional heated stone pot which helps to crisp up the rice. It was still good though. Coffee and cookies were tasty and fresh. The place is bright and spacious and very welcoming. Daisy the owner is very nice and helpful. We will go back. read more

If I'm not mistaken Cafe Cocoro opened a couple years ago and my wife and I really love this place. Although some of the food they serve is not home made and provided by a separate supplier, some of their food, and their hot beverages are just downright great. We love the atmosphere, the decor, and Daisy (who I think is the owner) is always friendly. This a great Cafe with some interesting and tasty Korean dishes. Popped in here while exploring the neighbourhood and was met by the lovely owner who was extremely welcoming. Most of the food is made in house, including the bagels, with the exception of some of the pastries which are brought in. We sampled two of the butter tarts (not made in-house) and they were delicious. We also took some Korean Beef Gyoza to go, and enjoyed that very much. I was so excited to see a new coffee shop/Korean cafe open in the neighbourhood and had to give it a try. My husband and I ordered the bulgogi, kimchi and semolina cake. Bulgogi was tasty, but not the best in the area (IMO the best bulgogi in the area is at Yanagi); the kimchi was a bit bland; and the semolina cake was pretty good. The cafe is very nice and the owner is super friendly. We will be back and will try more of the menu next time! read more

Combing an Italian cafe with a Korean restaurant may seem unusual, but they pull off both flawlessly. Their coffee is fantastic - far better quality and value than any chain. They have great little takeaway boxes with gyoza and noodle dishes so you can pick up lunch along with your morning coffee. Their hot food options are also delicious (the bibimbap and bulgogi are both amazing), but be warned that portion sizes are extremely generous. Great value for your money! Very child and baby friendly - we often see young families in there. Definitely our favorite cafe! read more
