Haven't been here in years. Gave it another try tonight and we were pleasantly surprised. Excellent food and drink and service was outstanding. Very cozy unpretentious environment with refined food and drink. Started with eggplant app which was great. And the bread. I couldn't get enough. For dinner had the chicken. Incredibly well cooked - Juicy tender and the skin was to die for. One of the best chicken dishes i have had. My husband had the pasta with short rib. He loved it. And from him that's a huge compliment because as a critical foodie he looks for complaints. We sat at the bar. Service was outstanding. Extremely attentive without being overbearing. Mary was our bartender and I can't say enough good things about her. The one word I would use to describe our experience is GENUINE. From the food to the staff to the owner, I felt as if I was in Italy. The food was simple but outstanding using only the best ingredients. The food...the cocktails...the atmosphere...the attention to detail...Boston quality in our backyard. This is truly a hidden gem. We know everything is of the highest quality and the combination of ingredients is so sophisticated, we have a hard time choosing what to order. I went here last night and stayed for two hours. The service is a little slower but I was okay with it. The food is lovely. My friend had a 9oz filet and said it was perfectly seasoned with simple salt and pepper. He ate the entire thing and it came with a small portion of greens and potatoes which were also eaten completely. You can order family style sides that are good for two people each. Broccoli and potatoes roasted in duck fat were gobbled up. I had the pasta with mushrooms and shaved black truffle on top (extra fee) and it was really delicious. It could have done for a bit more cheese as the saltiness really made each bite truly divine. Staff was professional and polite. They seem to specialize in their gelato but I was hoping for more than two dessert options (creme brûlée and a variety of gelatos). Maybe something simple like warm cookies or a light pastry for coffee? Oh I forgot the apps! The bread app is the best bread I have had in a while there is something about the thin outside crust that is buttery and a touch of salt and it's served warm and fresh. The mussels were also a hit for my friend. It was a very large app and eaten up entirely, he wished for more garlic but still really enjoyed them. Ipazzi was a long time favorite of my boyfriend and I. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is intimate, and the owners, Tanni and Anna are incredible. You feel like a welcomed family member the minute you open the door. So when it was time for us to choose our wedding venue, which was a second wedding for about 50 people, we asked Anna if they had have done this. An overwhelming yes and we were ready to go. I have been told by many of my guests, it was the best wedding they have ever attended. The restaurant looked beautiful, the food was nothing short of amazing, and the service was beyond spectacular . Tanni said to me I will make this perfect for you and, that he did.....and well beyond. Whether you are just dining out, or a special occasion, I can not think of any better place to celebrate. The food was very good, no complaints- the service however was just ok. After receiving the check we were told to "take our time", we promptly paid and then surprisingly we were asked to leave the restaurant as they wanted to turn over the table. Super rude and after spending nearly $800, I won't ever return. Full disclosure, having a party of 8, we spent roughly 2.5 hours at the table, we ordered apps, entrees, and plenty of drinks - while they were busy, there were empty tables in the restaurant already. I had high hopes for this restaurant based entirely on my high expectations of places at this price point. Unfortunately a few details prevent me from saying this place lived up to what I expected. Overall I'd call it a solid, suburban restaurant that *I wish* had finer details addressed. ----Good things---- -Walking in on a Saturday night at 8:45 and seated immediately. (next to the gas fire place!) -Our greeting was warm and our servers were very amenable to our style of ordering as we go and sharing everything - including glasses of wine. -We KNOW the chef cared - he watched us eat - waiting on any indication of our satisfaction. -Family owned atmosphere. Everyone was laid back and it wasn't a stuffy environment at all. -By the glass wine selections were better than average! ----"meh" things---- -Our server - while nice and clearly knowledgeable about the dishes we asked about - didn't posses the same level of knowledge about the wine list. When asked about certain by the glass selections he gave very generalized answers. (as if he was trying to give answers but didn't really have them) -The food....it all sounded amazing but overall each of the 4 dishes two of us shared were just kind of ordinary. Nothing jumped off the fork in terms of flavor or depth. ----Not cool things---- -During our 2.5 hours there more than half of the vacated tables remained un-bussed. Food and dirty linens were left on them. Servers were not slammed. It just isn't a priority there to bus tables immediately. Most probably don't care about this. I found it distracting. -The carpet was littered with food scraps as if a party had just vacated and the cleaning hadn't occurred yet. Again, for $22-30 plates I'd like to see a carpet sans food scraps. My dining partner said he thought the place was good for 'the burbs' but I had higher expectation regarding the smaller details. I have been dining at I Pazzi for over 4 years now and I can honestly say that it is just as amazing as it was when I first visited this cozy little restaurant in Danvers. My boyfriend and I love this place more than I can say on here- I would give it 11 stars if I could! The waitstaff is vigilant , knowledgable, and hospitable. The chef truly cares about the meals that he creates and often walks around to make sure patrons are enjoying their food. I have never had a mediocre meal at I Pazzi, never mind a bad one. I would definitely pay attention to the specials menu, as they have often have really amazing things on there. My boyfriend and I have had scallops that were to die for, perfect tuna carpaccio, impeccably cooked bison topped with black truffles, heavenly venison ... I could go on & on. The standard menu is great and, as far as I'm concerned, you can never go wrong with the gnocchi al pomodoro or the lamb. On our most recent visit, our phenomenal waiter informed us that they recently began making their own gelato in house. There were 5 flavors to choose from that night: tiramisu, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, and hazelnut. We chose to have 2 scoops of tiramisu and 1 scoop of chocolate to share (the scoops are golfball sized). When I tell you that this was the BEST ice cream/gelato/dessert I have ever tasted, I swear I am not lying! It was so great that we ordered 3 more scoops to try the remainder of the flavors. You can even get gelato to go! I don't know what kind of miracles they are performing in the kitchen at I Pazzi, but I LOVE this place. read more

I Pazzi is exceptional and a true find on the North Shore. The owners and staff are hugely attentive, and then there is the food! I was first there on the night of one of our huge snowstorms in January, but dined before the flakes began to fly. Business was light and we ate at the bar, which enabled us to interact with the owners. We had the pure luck to be there on such an evening because when we asked about something on the menu, we frequently received a sample. This enabled us to try many items that would otherwise have required multiple visits. But no worries there - I will (and have) make multiple visits to i Pazzi. Everything - and I mean everything - from the bread to the salad to the sea bass, the pastas, the desserts - was fresh and delicious. As others have said, the portions are not huge, but you don't want them to be. As a culture, we are over-conditioned to massive amounts of food (which is why the Cheesecake Factory simply disgusts me - waddle up to the trough, America!) when what we need is freshly prepared, delicious opportunities to dine. And here, i Pazzi excels. All pastas are freshly made on site, and the seafood portion of the menu reflects what was available that day from local vendors and fisherpeople (look at me being all PC!) In short? Run, do not walk to i Pazzi. You'll soon be singing its praises to your friends. One note - the restaurant has one of those weird Massachusetts things (sigh) - a cordials license. This means that the alcohol they can serve is delineated by its sugar content. They can only serve alcohol with a minimum level of sugar, and to reach that level, all of the vodkas are flavored, etc. It puts limits on the cocktail opportunities for the evening, but the bartenders are creative, so ask. Had high hopes for this place since it's down the street from our house, but was extremely disappointed. The service was absolutely terrible, for the price we paid I felt like I'd get better service at McDonald's. We got seated in the worst table, and got ignored because of all the bigger parties. The age limit to this place is 60+ so if you're younger don't bother!!! You'll get looked at like your poor. The waitress didn't speak English very well, didn't explain anything in the menu, she took 20 min to bring our drinks, my husband got his second beer AFTER he was done eating when he ordered it before we got our meal!! We ordered calamari for an app and it was absolutely disgusting, it was grilled but the rubbery texture was something my dog wouldn't even eat. Will never go back, or recommend to anyone. I have driven by this restaurant numerous time and not wanted to go mostly based on the childish graphics on the sign. Figured it must be a "kid friendly" American Italian restaurant. Boy was I surprised! This is a genuine Italian restaurant. I had pappardelle with cinghale (something I have not seen anywhere except Italy) and it was excellent. One of my tablemates had the sea bass and it was very clean and fresh tasting. One of our group commented that on her last visit they ordered the calamari and it was a whole squid. For me that is exciting news, but I guess if you are a fan of big-plate-cheese-laden-Italian that would be a scary serving. Can't wait to go back next week! read more

We were invited to go by another couple on Saturday. I was told the food was in great but it wouldn't be fast. I can't say the initial ordering was the waiters fault as there was a very pretentious lady in the corner who seemed to have something really important to tell him sbout every time he went to their table. Her arms would wave around and it appeared there was always a lecture. So we did wait. But when we did get the food I can't say it was exciting. The gnocchis were very large and doughy and the sauce was like that out of a can. The salads were interesting but I'm not sure the arugula enhanced anything. I usually like arugula but this was annoying. The swordfish was decently prepared but nothing to write home about. I guess for the price I'd expect more. Joe V. was correct in his review that the food at I Pazzi is not cheap and the portions are not huge, but I definitely did not leave here hungry (in fact I was so full that I slipped into a carb induced coma by 10:30 on a Friday night). However I did wish I had leftovers for the next day. The bread basket was great with the combination of oil, balsamic, Parmesan and red pepper flakes. We tried a shrimp appetizer (only 1 shrimp) that was stuffed with prosciutto and cheese, wrapped in some kind of dough and fried, and served in a red pepper sauce. It was delicious, but while the shrimp was large, there should have been at least two for the price. I had the penne matraciana which was delicious and smoky with tons of pancetta. Mom had the puttanesca with delicious olives and capers. She thought her pasta was a bit too thinly coated with sauce, but it had a nice flavor. We both wished our dishes had a bit more spice and homemade pasta would have been a nice touch. Chocolate mousse was nothing special, didnt even have the texture of mousse - more like cake. Came here for a team dinner while visiting Gloucester on a business trip. The place had a very cute vibe. It's small and the staff is very attentive. They specialize in italian with a meaty twist - they serve exotic animals for their entrees like basin, rabbit, and etc. I don't know about the animals, but I ended up ordering a sea bass entree inwhich I thought was prepared/presented very well. It was very good. Would have packed my leftovers if I lived in town. Definitely a good place to have dinner and order the sea bass if you want something light and good to eat. read more

Family owned and operated since May 2009, I Pazzi is located on 50 Maple Street in Danvers Square. Boasting simple but elegant Italian fare, the owners Irtan and Arbana Bleta, known to customers as Tani and Anna, surprisingly are Albanian. Tani sharpened his skills while working and living in Northern Italy for 12 years, cooking for some of the most refined palettes in the world. Found it interesting our server offered to refill bread for another table but not to us. We normally would have ordered an appetizer, but nothing appealed to me. We had ordered (4) sodas, which were not even that fixxy or large and were amazed to see $10 charge on out bill, $2.50 for each soda. If you are going to charge for soda at least get a high end bottled soda to servce. I am always amazed to see servers pretensious about working in a restaurant, seriously. Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. Entrees are very thick, you will be filled up. Seems to be a popular spot since many of the items we attempted to order were sold out. Food is outstanding....Chef Tani has magic in his hands when he is cooking. His tripe is the best I've ever had outside of Italy. First with his wonderful sauce and beans then another time served white with truffles! Dinners are equally outstanding. The duck breast, fish or any of the pasta dishes are recommended. Cannot go wrong with anything on this menu. The wines are also outstanding and the prices are extremely reasonable for a restaurant. My husband & I went for dinner and quite enjoyed our meals. I got an excellent risotto (they'll make it however you want with whatever you want in it...I just wanted a vegetable risotto) it came out to me in a skillet, it was HUGE and delicious!!! And my husband got the tagliatelle & pancetta, he normally doesn't finish a meal (just not a big eater) he ate the whole meal and loved every bite!!! We stopped in on a Friday night, discovering it to be of moderate size. It was decently busy but not packed initially. By the end, packed. We sat at the bar and had a really nice bar tender, who let us try numerous samples of various things. Quite great. Downside: we waited a really long time for the food. So long it seemed like a practical joke. Even dessert took forever. My girlfriend and I had a great experience here. Although carpaccio is on the website they no longer offer it which was a bummer. We shared a caprese salad that was delicious. The fresh bread was good and served with a little dish with options of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and red chili flakes. High quality Procuitto and Gorgonzola transformed these aromatic figs into a plate fit for the most elegant of dinners. For the entree, tender and succulent long bone in rib eye was served with roasted potatoes and asparagus. The meat was perfectly cooked to a juicy medium rare. Especially enjoyed the the gin/lemon/ginger beer drink on the cocktail menu (its name escapes me). Not as harsh as a Moscow mule, and a delicious pre dinner cocktail option. The espresso martini was darker, more sophisticated, less sweet, and less creamy than they usually are. Again, highly recommended. Ipazzi is a quaint restaurant in downtown Danvers. Serving authentic Italian-type cuisine, Ipazzi has absolutely excellent food. We have been there several times and highly recommend it. The owners are wonderful people and they employ a great staff. We've never seen a grumpy person serving there. Hands down, Ipazzi makes the best chicken I have ever had. It is boneless, with skin. I went here last week for a dinner party. I have never eaten octopus before, and quite frankly I wish I hadn't, for the one fact that it was probably the most amazing thing I've ever eaten. Perfect cooked. The flavor was out of this world. I can't stop thinking about it and am already trying to plan a date night just to go back for it! The Riesling was also the best I've had.
