Avocado Omelette (with Chorizo vs Shrimp)

Flew to Houston on Christmas Day and arrived early morning. After checking into our hotel, we were ready for a late breakfast-of course most restaurants were closed but we found this diner that was about a 30 minute drive from the Med Center. We arrived around 11 and they were semi busy. Smaller spot in a mini strip mall with booth/counter/regular seating and black/white square flooring. Daily specials (M-F) are atavailable. We all ordered Omelettes with chocolate chip and plain pancakes to share. My Avocado Omelette (swapped Chorizo for shrimp-yes!) was delicious. And filled with slightly spicy Chorizo, mushroom, onions to name a few. The Meat Lover and Chicken Fajita were also tasty. Stuffed and generous portions. Pancakes were the perfect compliment and were also delicious! Our server and the entire staff were engaged and upbeat despite working on a Holiday. They were closing at 1 so we made it just in time. Make a stop at this Gem for some Diner deliciousness!

We visited I 45 diner last weekend after spending a majority of the day at hurricane Harbor not far from this location.. we decided to give this place a shot since the place we normally go was closed on Sundays. We were literally the only people there.. we were greeted right away and the diner was actually super cute like a 70s diner.. our food came out super quick. Plus .... IT WAS SO GOOD!!!!! Literally everything that we tried was so good. Just look at the picture of my food.. I got the grilled chicken dinner with green beans and macaroni and cheese. I was really surprised whenever it got to the table. Chicken was perfectly cooked green beans as well.. a lot of places have a hard time keeping those green beans looking green.. just saying these were exceptional!!! I didn't get a picture of everybody else's food.. but everyone said their food was great. Really the only complaint was the shakes could have been a little thicker. Next time, we'll just ask for that. Definitely worth a try.. we will be back!

This place is a little hidden gem. It has a diner feel. You walk in and seat yourself. It's not the best-looking place, but it is clean. The food is pretty tasty. It's comparable to Denny's. This is the only place that can get my eggs right. When I say soft scramble, I usually get overcooked brown eggs lol, but this place has gotten my eggs right the two times I have gone. The dish portions are very healthy. We will keep this place in our breakfast rotation. We also plan on trying the lunch and dinner items.

The old classic still makes my favorite.. food was great, service top notch and ambiance is all locals heavy. A good menu with many options.. breakfast served all day!! Yup!! Worth a visit for that small restaurant feel ..

Eggs benedict, unfortunately the poached eggs were of hard boiled consistency, I would just make sure to ask for runny poached.

Our first time here on a Sunday morning. we got right in without any wait time . Good looking menu a lot of choices, everything from Machado to eggs Benedict to a garden wrap. Several different Options for omelets, waffles, and pancakes. Looks really good. I'm not gonna lie, the prices seem kinda high, $15 for an omelet. $16 for chicken fried steak and eggs. They do have corned beef hash and eggs, which I love to see on a menu. . several different types of burgers which all look appetizing. But again, seems on the high side $16. For a double cheeseburger. I guess that's almost norm. love the different sandwich choices everything for a pot roast melts down to a grilled chicken breast with Chipotle sauce called the Cadillac. they have fajitas;, steak, chicken and sausage, not a normal option in fajitas as far as I know, but might be good. The fish tacos look really good. 3 of them for $14. The dinner entrees, again little on the high side. But maybe they're portions are really big. We'll see. pot roast dinner is $17. pineapple grilled fish, 15 meatloaf 15. . half a pound of steak tips 16.99. all the dinners come with 2 sides and a piece of garlic bread. However, if you upgrade to a baked potato, be careful. Doing that it's an additional $4.70. don't do it. not worth it. IMHO. they also have wings, cheese sticks, cauliflower wings. Fried shrimp basket, and 5 different salads, $14.29. Again, a really good looking menu. We order the eggs benedict, Machado and a breakfast sandwich, so I'll update after we get our food, with pictures. It has a nice diner vibe, booths, tabled and a big eat at counter area. Coffee is strong. Oh, one thing I want to note, first page, not very noticeable is the mention that parties of 5 or more, auto gratuity of 20% is added. Im not a fan of that anywhere , but especially not for a party of 5 plus. I understand the reason, I've done my fair share of serving and auto gratuity would have been nice a few times, especially a bold 20%. I also didn't notice a host stand, and nobody greeted us when we came in. We just basically sat ourselves, unsure if that was the intent. So we got our food, never know which to start with, the good or the bad. My husband got the sausage sandwich, and picked off quite a bit of hard edged cheese, like it had been sitting out for hours. I've been on the other side of the line in kitchens, it probably had been sitting out since open. He also didn't like the sausage. I'll try it and add my thoughts. My son got the eggs Benedict which looked good on the plate, but unfortunately the poached eggs were way overcooked, the consistency of a hard boiled egg. If our server had come by at any point, we would have asked for a fresh remake, with proper oozy poached eggs, but the 3bite rule doesn't seem to be a thing here. The 3bite rule, check on your table within the first 3 bites to make sure everything tastes as it should. Also, it would have been nice to b e offered a refill of the coffee, th as t never happened. The half order of French toast was good, and served with plenty of soft whipped butter, so high marks for that. My Machado was fantastic, and I'm the critic of the group. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. I had to ask for salsa, I got both the red and the green, green is the way to go. The red is kinda like Pace. Anyway, the Machado was delicious, Maybe a few too many sliced jalapeños but still delicious. The manager or owner walked by several times helping the servers run food and bus tables, but never stopped to ask how we were doing or what we thought, that's a shame. I'm big on table touches and this guy missed the mark. Before I forget, I did try the sausage from the sandwich, I liked it. I think he was just turned off by the very hard old cheese.

Looked at reviews thought I would give them a try hours posted on website said they opemed at 7am well arrived at 710 and door was locked. Sat around saw someone open doors at 715. Place was completely empty. There is no sign on there door with posted hours. Only saw 2 employees actually in the place working. 1 cook 1 waiteress. Asked for lots of ice in my drink,was not alot of ice! Got about 9 tables and 12 booths.5 counters chairs. Food came fairly quickly. Ordered french toast eggs with sausage link and bacon. Strip of bacon waa not crispy,maybe i should have requested crispy. Got only 1 small thing of sryup ! Didnt see the male cook wearing any type of hair net. Waiteress never stopped by to check on refills or if i needed anything,like a refill and more sryup!! Food isnt anything special. Only time she came to my table was when saw i was done. Not likely to return. I will stick with Dennys or Ihop Only 1 other person came in. So theres the real deal They are right across from Spring High school.

Just 2 days after giving them a 5 star review... I normally come here with my starbucks drink. Yes, there's a sign that says "no outside food or drink," but all I ever bring is my coffee--and I never leave it behind. I always take it back to my car when I'm done eating. Well today i came in with my drink as usual and they said I have to leave it in the car because they're under a new management. I always prefer to support local businesses but it's not my fault yall dont have the drink i want. I totally understand the no outside food policy, but drinks too? Come on. I love the food here, but that's one quick way to lose a loyal customer. Lemme tell you something, dont you everrrr come between a girl and her starbucks. I left and went to Denny's down the street instead. Bye

Yes, this is your classic diner with friendly service and some good cooking. You're welcomed in with a friendly "sit anywhere you like." As soon as your seated someone is there to get you started on drinks. Once our orders were placed, it seemed like the food was out in front of us piping hot. Everything was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. Whoever was in that kitchen was doing a great job on the day I was there. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are large. Definitely highly recommended if you're looking for a good hot meal.

Didn't have a good experience at all! I took my kids. My oldest wasn't pleased with the tasteless beans so she switched her meal. My french toast was burnt around the edges, but I didn't complain. I got my ticket & was still charged for the plate we sent back. The rude, unprofessional "manager" told me she couldn't take it off, it was their policy BUT had it NOWHERE posted up. Made no sense! Then told me she will take it off but we can never go back there lol that was never my plan to go back! The service & food was terrible! I ride past there often & it's never busy. Now I know why! The highlight was the server Ashton was awesome! We tipped him extra! read more

Not greeted when you enter, hostess/waitress doesn't seem like she wants to be there, and I somehow felt rushed when ordering (they close in 45 minutes) Ordering food to go but still tipped because I've worked in the restaurant industry before. Once food is received I'll post a pic and update review of the food quality Update: 13 minutes later still no food but the cooks are chatting amongst themselves. 30 minutes to closing while guests are still eating, a waitress comes from the back with a mop bucket and proceeds to mop. Bucket has bleach and it's really strong. Cleaning should be completed after all guests are gone or at least once closing time has approached. read more

1st time! I chose to pick up the order. The taker was very polite and repeated the order before ending the call. Open the containers & presentation of the prepared food. You get a large portions of food severed. Green beans very flavourful. Hamburger w/ cheese - mouth watering & butter / moist bun. Well done. French fries - can't go wrong. A lot of good things have been said about 45 Diner, and after our experience.....it's all true!! Our family of five had one of the best breakfast experiences in a long time. Our first choice was Toasted Yolk but the wait was almost an hour, Yelp brought us to 45 Diner. My machacado was amazing, best I've ever had outside of El Paso TX. The food was ok. but It is what it is, it's definitely DINER style food. The Service was ok but could be a little better.our server kept taking too long to take our order or refill our drinks but he was very nice. I like the menu options. The bacon wrapped sirloin needs more seasoning. I noticed our food sat under the heat lamp for a while before It was delivered and the Appetizers should have come out first. CLASSIC DINER FOOD! We stopped here for lunch on our way to the TGR Exotic Wildlife Park. The menu was extensive and the food delicious. We each had a specialty burger cooked to perfection with super fresh garnishes. My sister had the crinkle fries/onion rings combination and I had the home fries as a side dish. Both sides transported us back to childhood, when going out to eat was a special treat. Fast and friendly service added to this memorable experience. read more

This is indeed one of the best hidden gems in Spring! I absolutely loved everything about this place. The service and food is excellent. I don't think I will ever go to IHOP or Denny's again after being sorely disappointed from multiple locations of both of those establishments! Kudos I-45 for getting it right read more

My husband & I stopped in for a quick breakfast on our way down to the NASA museum this morning. We were delighted to find this locally owned diner. The menu options were fairly standard nothing too exciting jumped out at me. I had a fit/ light shrimp & avocado omelet. Boy they were not stingy with the shrimp! For a fit omelet, it was a Texas-sized portion and very VERY filling. My husband had a waffle w/ the usual bacon, egg, hash brown. This restaurant serves good good, but their water is disgusting. The chemical content and sewage taste was enough for me to have one swig and that's it! I won't be coming back until they put a filter or something on this. This can't be safe to drink. Yuk read more

Friendly staff, fairly clean, great food. Went here on a late Tuesday morning so it was on the quiet side, but there were at least 5 or 6 tables eating the whole time. I don't live too far from here I've been wanting to try it forever. Finally stopped in today. Ordered a short stack and, the skillet with a strawberry lemonade. The Pancakes were absolutely terrible! They were a little hard not sure why. (Had to request syrup) The Strawberry Lemonade, didn't taste like lemonade at all! The Skillet was a seven out of ten. I won't be going back. read more

I came to this diner and wanted to order an omelette. All the omelettes come with peppers and onions. I don't eat peppers and onions. Because I didn't notice it on the menu the waitress told me it was on me and that I would have to pay for it even if I didn't eat it. I then asked for the manager. The manager came and said that she would be willing to take it off because I'm so nice, but if i want another one I would be charged. So I clarified with her that that was fine I don't want to pay for something I will not eat. But I am willing to pay for something that I will eat. Then she said No I will have to charge you for TWO omelettes! Ridiculous!!! They have lost my business for a simple mistake and bad customer service! Perhaps it was because I am a cultural minority. read more

The place is very wholesome, the waiters were super nice. My significant other ordered Breakfast Egg Combo #4 and it was average at best. The eggs were watery and the pancakes were dry. I bought a patty melt with a side of macaroni and cheese and to that solidified the difference between this restaurant to Whataburger. If you want quality meat, this is the place to go!! read more

I love diners. I happened to see a sign about the diner, on the way to another food location. I pulled up the menu online and decided the cost of the food was very reasonable for the amounts offered. When I got in, I found some people were very welcoming and some not so much. I choose to engage the nicer waiter. I ordered a #3 to go, but I meant to order a #2. No big deal. I live 5 minutes away from the diner. When I got home 10 minutes later, and tasted the food, I wasn't impressed at all. Everything was bland. My pancakes were hard, hash browns unseasoned and standard, sausage was ok, bacon was good, and the eggs were folded instead of scrambled. read more

Great place for traditional American breakfast. Servings are huge but prices have increased (then again what hasn't). I enjoy coming here and pick up breakfast ever since I moved around this area and is definitely better than ihop or Dennys. read more

Honestly, I can't understand why people would go to any of the "chain" places around the area when you have this gem! Cheap, yummy, fast breakfast/lunch place! Everything myself and my family/friends have had we really enjoy! The coffee is always strong and fresh (which is more than I can say for the chain place down the road). The staff and manager are always friendly and accommodating. read more

I've gone there around 4 times and the food is really great. The only thing is I am not 100% on how sanitary the place is... Last time I went I sat facing the kitchen and was not thrilled on what I was seeing... A lot of NO-gloves going on. I even saw one of them pick up a raw chicken with no gloves *cringe* and wipe his hands on his apron!!! The terrible thing is that I still ate my food and it was super yummy!!! Don't know if I will return just because of what I saw... But if thats not a priority for you I definitely recommend... Just don't sit facing the cooks!!!! :-P read more

So this place is pretty cute. I would say try it if you're in the area! Pros: huge portions for the price. The wait staff was friendly to the customers for sure. Coffee was super fresh. The syrup is served warm! The bacon is amazing Cons: the pancakes were super dry. They took every drop of moisture out of my mouth. It tasted delicious but holy hell it was so damn dry. The sausage was obviously the prepackaged type. My eggs were undercooked, although my lovely waitress asked if I wanted them cooked longer. When you walk in you seat yourself, but no one tell you that, so you can stand the and look fool. Long story short, everything was pretty good not amazing but pretty good. You can judge for yourself. I think there's better breakfast places but not with crazy menu. read more

I drive by this place every day on my way to work or school, so eventually I knew I was going to have to go in and give them a try. There isn't really a whole lot to write about when it comes to I-45 Diner, it's one of those places that doesn't really try to do anything new, it just does what it's supposed to do correctly. The service is speedy, the wait staff is friendly, sweet, and attentive, the manager (that's who I assume he is) comes around and makes sure you have a great experience during your meal. The place is clean, the decor is simple and neat, and it's quiet, it's a good place to come sit down and have a meal with friends and family. I've been here twice and while I'm the type of person who likes to try everything, I have a thing for breakfast so I kind of lean towards it when I visit diners like this. I do have to say, I love a cook who knows how to make a proper Over-Medium Egg. The yolk isn't too loose or too firm, it's just right, perfect with hashbrowns. Their pancakes are nice and fluffy, and their hashbrowns are crispy (although I would prefer them a little crisper, but that's just personal preference). The food comes out hot and fast and everything tastes great. Last time I went my sister had an omelet and it was GIGANTIC. It was stuffed full of meat, cheese, veggies, and they put their hashbrowns inside the omelet, I definitely know what I'm getting next time. I tried to take a picture of it, because it was gorgeous, but she started destroying it as soon as it hit the table. Next time maybe! I can honestly say that I don't have any real complaints with this place. It's simple diner food for a good price, every neighborhood needs one of these places. The service is wonderful here no matter who our server has been. And the food is always good. I do prefer the breakfast menu item more, but it's all good at a reasonable price. It's definitely a mom and pop feel atmosphere. read more

Our food came out cold and mirrored i-hops menu and presentation. wouldn't be surprised if this place is like the whole hardy s/ carl's jr thing. other than my food being cold it was not right. I had given specific instructions to the waitress and wow nothing like i asked. the manager never came by to offer if he could bring me what I wanted to take it off my ticket. I decided to eat it. Unfortunately my expectations are too high about this place, food with nice presentation but no flavors, coffee are weak and bitter we order a orange juice and was sour ;service was ok, place feels clean.
