Hard to believe that as the only customer in the store on a statewide-stay-home day, they would leave my cheesecake behind and tell me my order is ready to go. Especially after I left a larger tip than I normally would for take-out because of the lack of customers?!?!? Especially after I asked the guy to break a $20 just so I could leave the tip! Love this little corner coffee shop, its such a gem in the city of Arcadia. I came back and bought a breakfast iced coffee. I am delighted to discover the array of sandwiches they offered in this store. I am sure will come back at lunchtime for a delicious sandwich. I first fell in love with the location. Off the beaten path is always a good idea when in southern Cali so you don't have to fight with traffic and pay an arm & a leg for parking ;) As a non-coffee drinker, the 2nd thing I fell in love with was the menu. All the drinks were given creative, fun names & I appreciated the simplicity of the ingredients and how I could easily hone in on what I may like. I went with the MILKY WAY; Espresso, Dark Chocolate & Caramel. A true coffee drinker will say "That's not coffee" but to me it was the best cup of Joe I've had from Arcadia ... lol. Seriously tho. This was a great place to meet up & talk. Plenty of space. They even had a back patio seating area. If you are looking for fancy and modern this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for cool twists on coffee, good service and a place to chill or hang out away from the hustle & bustle - or if you happen to be anti-Starbucks & need to find a coffee home to land - this may be the place for you!!! Love this place! Great coffee. Friendly staff. Across the street from an absolutely hidden Gem bookstore called The Book Rack. Ample parking (though you need to be careful because it is Arcadia, and the drivers of Arcadia absolutely earned their reputation of being dangerous, selfish, and will run a stop sign just to ensure you can't back out of your spot). Make a great sandwich too. It's a fun spot to check out as a regular because they have new and exciting stuff all the time. It makes me sad that so many Americans would rather wait in line at Starbucks for 20 minutes to give soulless corporations their $$$ when they can park, support local families, and be out in less than 5 minutes. read more

We were around the area for an annual Subaru event at the Santa Anita Race Track and Hyper Coffee was the place for a good quick bite breakfast. I ordered a "Smoked Ham Wrap" ($8.00). Once it was served, I was surprised how small this wrap was for its price. Within the wheat tortillas it has a layer of lettuce and chopped pickles, tomatoes, and of course the meat core of smoked ham. Because it was a smaller wrap I thought I was eating a fresh taquito roll. It was neatly made and cut in half. It tasted simple and easy. Also, with this order you get a small bag of chips of your choice. I couldn't leave without having an ice coffee and I'm glad Hyper offers some pretty cool gourmet flavors. So I went with their "Snickers". They did a really good job combining different ingredients to make it taste close to the candy bar. I believe it was made out of caramel, dark chocolate, and hazelnut. It was creamy, sweet, nutty and I was happy with it. I got this in a 16 oz. size it cost around $5. There was a bicycle group ahead of us who were waiting for their orders, and there was just two people working this shop. So, I understood the long wait before we got our meals. I needed a strong pick me up, and this has the same strength as an iced coffee I'd get at a Pho restaurant, but with the strong hint of that espresso flavor I love. I came to meet a friend for a production meeting, and... Omg this is the cutest little place in Monrovia and the staff is incredible and helpful. The cashier helped me decide on food and a drink as a 1st tuner. I just let him know I was vegetarian and a huge fan of chai. He chose the perfect breakfast. A veggie bagel and it was sooooo good! Fresh ingredients are ALWAYS amazing! Also the chai latte was simple delicious and I tried it with oat mil for the first time and it was so yummy. I tried this coffee shop on a weekday during my lunch break. I ordered the chipotle chicken panini ($14.00) and the white cow iced espresso drink ($5.00). Waited around 15 minutes for my order to be ready. For the amount of money I payed, I was not impressed with the food nor drink. The side salad isn't much of a salad, but it's yummy, and I usually don't like spinach. The dressing is some kind of variation on balsamic vinegar. The combination of tomato, basil, and pesto was really good. Even the Swiss cheese tasted good (and I don't even like Swiss cheese). The prices are fair and it was very relaxing (no mob today). -- The Chicken Cordon Bleu is also delicious. The combination of the cheese and chicken is really, really good and the tomatoes make a great addition. -- The Italian panini is just okay. Hyper Coffee is a cute little corner coffee shop that offers good simple breakfast. It is located on south 1st avenue off Huntington drive. They have indoor and outdoor-front/back-seats and free wi-fi. Interior design was simple and plain with few table and shelves and a television. Similarly, its atmospheric vibe was welcoming, relaxing and warm. A good place to read the LA/NYTimes morning newspaper. Plenty of street parking. We came here to grab some bagels and coffee. They have decent selection of breakfast items on their menu, mostly bagels, panini, croissant and muffins. We ordered wheat bagel with butter and jelly, and roasted turkey-with tomatoes and swiss cheese on wheat bagel. It was soft, warm and tasty. Coffee was perfectly brewed. Staff was competent, nice and professional. Service was moderately fast. Prices were reasonable (e.g., start at $2.99/bagel; $3.30/reg coffee). Overall, we had a good simple bagel and coffee breakfast. We highly recommend this corner coffee shop and will definitely come back again. read more

What a great little local coffee shop! I was out for a morning walk with my pup and decided to come stroll down this side of Arcadia and I am glad I did. I stoped and peeked in just to check it out, I walked in with my pup and decided I'll have a bite to eat and something to drink. Of course I noticed the front outdoor seating but as i ordered my food and looked around I notice a back door with tons of outside seating as well. I ordered a large glass of orange juice and the ultimate breakfast wrap which the price was very reasonable and the staff said they will bring it to me as soon as it's ready. I walked out back to see a huge space of seating and a patio cover which was perfect for this sunny Saturday morning. The pup loved the private back area, there were 2 others back there and they didn't seem to mind my dog at all. They actually asked if they could pet him and engaged in small talk so I let OBEY off his leash and he was having a blast. The staff was great, the food was good, the atmosphere was chill, defiantly will be back to hang out and relax over a cup of coffee or juice again :) Enjoy! read more

In this busy world, we all need a time out from life and technology. Before coming here, I remember reading my long trusted Yelp buddy, John T.'s review and knew this would be the perfect place to chill out. My goal for that morning was to enjoy a quiet moment with my beverage while working on a special art project. As you enter, you'll notice the menu on the wall behind the baristas. The variety of coffees, sweet drink concoctions, light bites and desserts were impressive. A few coffees which I don't mind trying next time include the Lavender Latte and the Milky Way (espresso, milk, dark chocolate, caramel). I ordered a hot Green Tea Latte 20oz. ($4.10) and enjoyed the sweet and slightly bitter taste of the matcha. The powder was thoroughly blended without any clumps in the bottom. The staff was cheerful and took orders promptly for diners to drink in the cafe and take out. This local establishment is in the heart of the charming downtown district and public parking is available on First Avenue. Even though they offered free WiFi, I decided not to take advantage of it and instead focused on my project and people watched. Funny how the name of this establishment made me feel the opposite. Came by again to give them another chance. This time tried the "Milkyway" over ice. I'm still not entirely convinced the name was representative of what I drank (no caramel flavor at all, the espresso was definitely there and in your face, chocolate was faintly noticeable). The best way to describe it was like a strong iced mocha with extra espresso. Not very reminiscent of the Milkyway candy bar in my opinion. Increased the rating because this one at least seemed a little more authentic and thought-out than the powder-mix frappe even if wasn't what I was expecting by reading the menu's description of it. Glad to have found a nice little coffee shop in Arcadia that's perfect for studying, reading or catching up with friends! Tables are pretty big and can fit a lot of stuff for those who need to get some work done. Wifi was pretty fast and there are a decent amount of outlets. There's also a cute seating area outside in the back for those who prefer to get some fresh air. Music is mostly peaceful covers and acoustics of popular songs. Menu-wise, there's a great selection of coffee drinks as well as teas, smoothies, frappes, and hot cocoa. One thing that I loved about this place was how you can customize your coffee drink to almost any taste you can imagine (e.g. skinny, soy, decaf, iced etc). I also thought the price was super reasonable as well compared to some other coffee shops. They also have a nice variety of food items from bagels, paninis, and baked goods. I ordered a grande soy cappuccino and it came out to be $4.35 including tax and tip (NOTE: an extra 40 cents was charged to my order because all I had was credit card and I didn't reach the credit card minimum). Workers were really nice too. Every time I needed something, they always had a smile on their face. And when I asked for a cup of water, the barista sent over a HUGE cup of water to my table. They don't have a RESTROOM AVAILABLE! It's 'out of service' which we al know it's not true bc the workers need one, it's prob covid and I get it but COME ON! I had a coffee and obv needed to use it, I was going to order some food but I couldn't bc I had to go find the closest Starbucks to use the restroom, when I asked them if they knew any they just said to maybe try 7-Eleven mmm okey!? If you sell beverages, you need a working bathroom, it's not a luxury it's a necessity. Needed coffee, was nearby. It was around noon on Saturday, it's kind of on a busy block, across the street from Boiling Point and a book store. There's limited parking in the area but I'm sure if you park a block or two away, it's fine. My husband and I ordered the White Cow latte hot, and it was supposed to have dark chocolate, vanilla, which were the unique points. I asked for half sugar which they obliged and that latte was PERFECT. I took one star off though because it took 10 minutes ish to get one latte and I also overheard a guy complain to them that he's been waiting over 15 minutes to get a cup of drip coffee that he had ordered. They had plenty of staff (at least 3 people) and while they were nice enough, they clearly had issues with operations of the business. There was a breakdown of communication between the staff, who was doing what, who was delivering, etc. If they tightened up ops, this place could be phenomenal. read more

Hyperspace Coffee is a quaint coffee shop that does a great job at providing coffee. Sound redundant and surprising? Hopefully not. I'm being serious when I say Hyperspace Coffee does a great job. So to start, they are a very considerate coffee shop in that they are VERY quick to consider your needs and correct any errors made in your order. A friend of mine got the wrong coffee but they quickly fixed that by making her the original order immediately AND letting her keep the wrong order. The coffee itself is very cheap and good quality. Aside from regular coffee, I enjoyed their hazelnut coffee. Additionally, they also serve teas and other unique coffee flavors, you really can't go wrong if you decide to point at a random item on the menu. I've enjoyed Hyper Coffee for many years. I make it a point to support local independent businesses. I used to be able to walk from home to Hyper Coffeee but now I live a couple of miles away so I visit less frequently. The owner (??) has always been very rude, especially to non-Asians, but I let that slide. This morning around lunchtime I was on First Avenue and I decided to drop in at Hyper Coffee for lunch. I ordered my usual combo. Expecting to pay the cutomary $11, instead today FOR THE EXACT SAME THING the bill was $19. Oh yeah -- served on a paper plate instead of a china plate. And like another Yelper commented, the serving person behind the counter put my sandwich on a table near the counter and then walked out to the patio to tell me the sandwich was ready. Really? He couldn't have brought the sandwich out with him? Yet charged an extra $8? Same number of steps. In days gone the staff at least was helpful. What happened? Dark roller shades are now covering the windows and casting a gloomy atmosphere on the formerly cheery place. Sadly my Hyper Coffee days are in the past. read more

Sadly, I don't recommend this place at all. They have horrible coffee, and yucky tasting lattes, they serve them in those old-school Styrofoam plastic leaching cups (odd). Visited this place because my friend and I were looking for a nice study place and all the reviews said it was the perfect place. And all the reviews were right! I love the staff and their service, they're all so sweet and very nice. There's a $10 minimum and we were short 30 cents and she gave it to us with no extra charge. Loved how they take the drinks to you rather you going to the bar to pick it up! The barista was a really nice guy. My friend had the 20oz iced green tea latte with soy milk and in her words, "it's the perfect mix of matcha and soy milk -- it's tastes like Urth Cafe!!" She was also given the option of having it iced or ice blended! I got a 20 oz iced lavender latte and it's the perfect amount of lavender! It's not too sweet and if you like it more sweet, they'll gladly add more lavender to it! There's a cute patio area outside and plenty of tables inside. Parking out front. The food is always great, I love pretty much every single panini on their menu. The house salad in my experience is always crisp and fresh with a tasty dressing. Hyper Coffee has been around for ages, since I was a student at First Avenue and one of my mentors took us there for lunch as a treat. I ended up coming here on a Friday morning to grab some caffeine and answer a few emails. It wasn't crowded at 8:00am but around 9:30am it started getting packed. I snagged a corner seat near the window. They have wifi and outlets and a wonderful little outdoor, covered seating area. There were some smokers in the outside patio so I opted for inside; otherwise, I would have enjoyed the open air. I ordered a hazelnut latte (half-sweet) and for the medium size it came out to be a little under $5 bucks. They also serve paninis, salads, sandwiches, and a few baked goods. They remind me of an indie panera bread :) I do wish it was a little cleaner. For some reason, I feel like the cafe is a little bit on the dingier side. The table I was at was a little sticky and the window sill seemed just a tad bit grody. If you're staying in the cafe, they serve your drink in a cute little camping cup! read more

Wow! I'm so happy to have found this hidden gem within Arcadia. I was just driving by on First Ave. And was like, "I'm thirsty. I need something to give me a little kick." I was lazy to drive to my usual boba places or Starbucks. But, I saw this. And I was like, "Sure, why not?" Boy oh boy! I'm glad I made that stop for a quick drink on a whim. When you walk in, it looks like a mom and pop kind of coffee shop. They have tables and seating in the front, inside the shop, and at the back underneath a canopy. I personally prefer tea over coffee. But, the coffee here was amazing. I ordered a Decaf Lavender coffee. I never tried Lavender with coffee before. Unusually drink it as is or as a milk tea. The drink was frothy, delicious, and hit the perfect spot for the energy boost I was looking for. :) The staff are really nice, professional, and they help provide their customers with an uplifting atmosphere. :D This seems like a good place to just relax, wind down, and have a quiet space with yourself, your thoughts, and your drink. The beans were really burnt and the drink was over-sweetened. If I finished the whole drink, I would have upset my stomach.
