Finally a good sandwich spot in El Monte that you NEED to try! This sandwich spot is in the same shopping plaza where Tierra Mia is. I called to make a to go order and was told that they were waiting for their carnitas. I loved the honesty and that they reached out with an ETA so I wouldn't waist my lunch time. We decided to try Garden Deli after my brother kept seeing it all over social media. We took our dad out for lunch and figured we'd finally check it out. It's a family-owned and operated spot with really friendly service. They do have indoor seating, but it's pretty small and intimate, so depending on when you go there might be a bit of a wait for a table and your order. My dad ordered the Garden Feta sandwich with chips, my brother went with the recommended roast beef sandwich and a side of potato salad (which was made fresh that day), and I ordered the tuna salad on a croissant instead of sourdough. The vegetables on both my dad's sandwich and mine were fresh and crisp, which was nice. My brother really enjoyed his roast beef sandwich and the potato salad. My dad said the Garden Feta sandwich was pretty good, and I thought the tuna salad on the croissant was good as well. Service was great and everyone we interacted with was super friendly. The selection is a little limited, so I'm not sure it's somewhere I'd go back to regularly, but it was nice to finally try it and check it off the list. My friend ordered that and I ordered the oven roasted chicken. The bread comes from Homeboy Industries. Pickles are made in house, so good! The ingredients are super fresh. I wanted a soda but they were out of diet sodas. The guys recommended their teas. My gosh, I have never had tea like that. This place is an absolute vibe that's hiding in plain sight. My fiance has tried it with coworkers and insisted I try it as well, she kept saying that potato salad is like yours. Mine was this absolute masterpiece of a torta, perfectly cooked carnitas, some of the freshest veggies imaginable and a bollio that took my back to the days of stopping at the panaderia while walking to school. The croissant sandwich that my fiance had, ohhh ohhh ohh. I actually ate all of mine and finished hers, while I'm on zepbound, these sandwiches made me forget that was even in my system. The Mexican fanta, the house made pickles and pickled jalapenos. This is the epitome of a neighborhood spot, in my case the neighborhood happens to be 20 miles away but worth the drive. The pasta salad that came in the side was also really well done and not overpowering like most other places. They've got Boar's Head product so the quality is fantastic.
