The food here is amazingly delicious! As you walk in you can smell how good the food is going to be! The owner Los was so friendly and accommodating. He let me taste the chipotle sauce. Then we ordered the fresh tea which was served on the table and the Aroma was so nice smelling! I will definitely be coming back and telling everyone about the garden deli! The potato salad was so GOOD!!! So good!
The Chipotle Chicken Salad Sandwich was absolutely delicious! Whoever thought of putting grapes in chicken salad is a genius -- it adds the perfect little touch of sweetness, and everything blends together so well. Seriously, the flavors are perfect! I'm definitely going back to try more of their sandwiches. If you haven't tried this place yet, you need to -- I guarantee you'll want to go back too!
A small mom and pop joint in a packed strip mall that also services a coffee le shop, so it might be best to park by the Target and walk over if you can't find parking. The menu is limited, but offers the essential deli items. The icing on the cake was the great service and vibe. I ordered an oven roasted chicken with a side Italian salad and was really impressed by the quality and serving size. I will definitely be ordering from here again.
First visit. I stopped in for lunch while serving jury duty (close to El Monte Courthouse). The staff were friendly, and my sandwich was amazing! It wasn't fast, but it was worth the wait. Limited table seating and a small window countertop that seats four. Most customers took their orders to go. I tried the El Montero Sandwich combo ($16.99), which comes with a bag of chips or pasta salad. A bottle of Coke was extra ($3.50). Ingredients were fresh and flavors were extraordinary. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items.
Finally a good sandwich spot in El Monte that you NEED to try! This sandwich spot is in the same shopping plaza where Tierra Mia is. I called to make a to go order and was told that they were waiting for their carnitas. I loved the honesty and that they reached out with an ETA so I wouldn't waist my lunch time. When I arrived my order was ready and all the staff were extremely nice. Good food and great customer service is what everyone loves! Everything that I ordered was super delicious and so fresh! I got the Montero with a side of potato salad with some chips. I'm looking forward to try other stuff.
We decided to try Garden Deli after my brother kept seeing it all over social media. We took our dad out for lunch and figured we'd finally check it out. It's a family-owned and operated spot with really friendly service. They do have indoor seating, but it's pretty small and intimate, so depending on when you go there might be a bit of a wait for a table and your order. My dad ordered the Garden Feta sandwich with chips, my brother went with the recommended roast beef sandwich and a side of potato salad (which was made fresh that day), and I ordered the tuna salad on a croissant instead of sourdough. The vegetables on both my dad's sandwich and mine were fresh and crisp, which was nice. My brother really enjoyed his roast beef sandwich and the potato salad. My dad said the Garden Feta sandwich was pretty good, and I thought the tuna salad on the croissant was good as well. Service was great and everyone we interacted with was super friendly. The selection is a little limited, so I'm not sure it's somewhere I'd go back to regularly, but it was nice to finally try it and check it off the list. They also have a shared parking lot with the surrounding businesses, and we didn't have any trouble finding parking.

So special that it will have you coming back the next day for more. Am I speaking from experience... absolutely! Do I have any regrets about coming to grab sandwiches two days in a row... never! I ordered a tuna sandwich with the Italian pasta and it was one of the best I've ever had. The tuna is simple and made to order. Topped with avocado, sprouts, and tomato sprinkled with pepper! Pure deliciousness! Now let's talk about the Italian pasta... amazing! I'll take a whole tray! Couldn't get enough. The flavor is spot on and super light. The next day I tried the egg salad sandwich with potato salad and again one of the best I've had. Made to order egg salad is always the best. The flavor was great paired with bacon and a croissant. Truly took this sandwich to another level. Simple yet packed with deliciousness. The potato salad I hear is a family recipe and it's truly made with love. It's light, fluffy, and flavorful. All the qualities that make potato salad delicious. Lastly, I had the Montero. If you want a hearty sandwich this is your jam. It's really really really good. I've never had anything like this, but I'm glad I did. It's one of those sandwiches you didn't know you needed in your life. The carnitas are so good paired with the caramelized onions... yum! Definitely a sandwich worth trying and telling all your friends about. Overall, this sandwich spot is truly an excellent experience. They have perfected the art of sandwich making and I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the sandwiches! Thank you again for the wonderful service and the delicious sandwiches. My friend saw something on social media about this place and suggested it for lunch. I work in the area and never knew about this place. We tried it today and it did not disappoint. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. Super friendly service, the owners are so nice. One of them suggested the garden feta with turkey and bacon. My friend ordered that and I ordered the oven roasted chicken. The bread comes from Homeboy Industries. Pickles are made in house, so good! The ingredients are super fresh. I wanted a soda but they were out of diet sodas. The guys recommended their teas. My gosh, I have never had tea like that. The whole experience was fantastic and we have already made plans to return next week ( June 27). They are going to be offering tri tip sandwiches for one day only. I have never been so excited about finding a new place to eat.

The potato salad was well balanced between the creamy texture and flavor (no pickles used according to the owner). Nice touch on grilling the sandwich bread with butter. This is a family owned business. The owner recommended trying their Garden Feta Sandwich. I am a big fan of feta and told him I would try it the next time I am in the area. Service was extremely friendly and prompt.
Food was beautiful, delicious and the staff were so hospitable! The sandwiches really do look professional in person! No sad fast food burger made here, no sir. Their food is made with love and care and it tastes that way too! Flavors were well rounded, the amount of food and quality was great! Make sure to come early or at least before 1:00 or 2:00 because we came around dinner and they ran out of the ingredients for one of their popular sandwiches and they were out of their freshly made sides, too. I'm not mad, that's just how small local businesses run. Please give them a try and I might visit early on a weekend to get their popular items before they run out

First time visiting and I can immediately tell these guys put a lot of care in their food. I had the El Montero and the Al Bundy (this one of their special menu board, not on the standard menu). A friend got the roast beef and another a ham & cheese sandwich The El Montero was delicious but I didnt expect it to be as "cured" (tougher on the chew than I expected). But flavorwise its fantastic. The Al Bundy was on their side menu and the chef said its only for this month of October. Its basically a Thanksgiving dinner sandwich, which has turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. The chefs pushed it and looked pretty excited when I ordered and man, it was a fantastic choice. The turkey was moist and juicy and the sandwich as a whole was just delectable. I would highly recommend giving this a try before its off the menu My friends also gave high praises to the roast beef and ham & cheese sandwich; the former I will try next time. The sandwiches are well crafted and balanced, and the portions are generous. The chefs are very friendly and excited to talk about their food. Each order also comes with a small side. Excuse the photo, it doesn't fully capture how well this Avocado Toast was crafted. I couldn't help myself and took a bite. It's just the right amount of crunch, savory, and spice to make every next bite more interesting than the last. The chefs I met (Los, Toai, and George) are really chill, true El Monte locals. They struck a warm conversation with many of the guests who felt social today, including myself. I commented on their tasteful street art on their wall, and Los invited me into his world by playing some of his favorite old school hip hop and funk songs to accompany my morning reading. You can tell the staff truly have a love for LA, El Monte, Chicano culture, and for making not just delicious sandwiches, but a truly stand-out, authentic, community-centered third space for us to rally around. The decor is cozy, modern, tastefully rooted in chicano and LA street culture - classy and elevated while staying true to the community it serves. And despite all I just said, I'm impressed that the menu is reasonably priced. If you have time, do yourself a favor and stop by to check out The Garden Deli for yourself. First time stopping by with my husband. We tried their cold brews, the lemon chicken pesto sandwich and the Italiano sandwich with the side pasta salads and man was everything fantastic! To top it off the service was incredible, welcoming and friendly. This place definitely made regulars out of us! read more

My first time coming and I will absolutely be back. I got the Spanish Breakfast Sandwich and it was delicious though a bit messy. The vanilla iced coffee was good but not too sweet. The only thing is that they only have regular milk so keep that in mind if you need an alternative. Everyone here was very friendly and the dining area was clean and comfortable. read more

The Garden Deli is a true hidden gem tucked in a high-traffic area--tricky to reach, but worth every turn. The cozy ma-and-pa vibe radiates good energy and welcoming charm. I brought the family and ordered the Guajolote Sandwich (oven-roasted turkey, pork belly, romaine lettuce, tomato, raw red onion, provolone cheese, avocado, and signature chipotle aioli on a croissant) with Italian salad; the turkey was perfectly moist, and the sandwich was to die for. My husband got the Roast Beef with Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard aioli, tomato, caramelized onions, and arugula on sourdough bread--juicy, flavorful, and a total standout. The place was empty when we arrived, so they kindly put on Mickey Mouse Playhouse for the kids. The girls loved their ham and cheese sandwiches while watching. Service is great , food is fresh and made to order, you get choice of chips , pasta salad, and potato salad ( if they don't run out it's popular) but this time around we were able to get some and it did not disappoint, atmosphere is good and the play good tunes ! I really don't know where to begin at this place. It's one of the best kept secrets and El Monte. The garden feta add bacon ham sound is one of my favorites. The sandwich breakfast way or lunch way is to die for I recommend the cheese jalapeño bagel with the breakfast one. My other favorite el Montero but I really drive 2 hours for the chili, hand down the best chili I've EVER had, kiss the cook for me! Beautiful artwork on the walls great vibe always has good music. The service is outstanding. You're literally cannot find a better place. read more

Delicious. I ordered the Oven Roasted Chicken sandwich with a side of the Italian pasta and their signature iced coffee and it came out to approximately $23. The sandwich had a great flavor and their Italian pasta was a refreshing tasty side. The iced coffee had a subtle nice cinnamon flavor and was not too sweet which left me pleasantly surprised. The people are friendly when you walk in and they seem to be happy to have your business. It's a cool spot for a casual low key date, to go sit and relax and eat by yourself or for a to-go order in my opinion. Wow! I wanted a sandwich I found this little gem. I got the chicken salad sandwich and WOW super tasty. This is a cool little hip place. They play great music. All the guys were great. I even was able to taste some of the chili they were making. I will definitely be back. 10/10 across the board. read more

Awesome sandwich shop. This is a quaint little place, completely unassuming but some fantastic sandwiches. Vibe of the space is really cozy - one of those great community spots. We got the hand and cheese, tuna, and egg salad. Everything was prepared fresh and incredibly delicious. The pasta salad that came in the side was also really well done and not overpowering like most other places. They've got Boar's Head product so the quality is fantastic. I was happily surprised to see they served egg salad, which I feel is a sign of a good sandwich shop. They add some nice, thick slabs of bacon on top. The ham and cheese was also great and had a delicious jalapeño spread. Not too spicy but packed with flavor. Great spot. Definitely worth checking out. Owner was incredibly gracious and welcoming. I love finding other food options.... I love a great sandwich. This place is A1..... The set up is a small lil shop you could miss if you didn't know it was there. The inside is very welcoming ...like your OG uncle opened a deli shop ITS NOT GHETTO just very chilled... Nice music playing... The staff was very cool thanked me for deciding to come and check them out ( shout out to both of you guys) I ordered the roast beef sandwich NO MAYO ....don't judge me lol the sandwich was a nice size on sourdough...I did not eat the sandwich there ( WHICH I REGRET, BECAUSE WHEN IT CAME OFF THE GRILL BABYYYYYYY IT WAS LOOKING BEAUTIFUL).... But the taste was great. All ingredients were fresh, loaded with nice cuts of roast beef. This time I got a picture y'all.....Go check it out another gem in El Monte!!!! Found this place after seeing a few videos of it on social media. It's a great find! Every time I stop by the workers are super nice and friendly. I like to get The Garden Feta with the potato salad. Super yummy and never had a sandwich like it before. I have yet to try the other sandwiches because it's that good and my favorite. One thing to note is the parking lot is a bit small. read more
