Great bacon maple bar. One of the best I have ever had. Worst coffee I have ever had. Don't serve luke warm dishwater coffee with a great donut. That's just lazy. Nope. Stale doughnuts covered in sugary breakfast cereal or gummy bears. If you aren't three bong rips past straight, there's nothing satisfying here. I made the mistake of getting cinnamon roll on my one and only visit...it was stale, bland and kind of awful. I threw it away after taking only a couple bites. The doughnuts my wife got for her and the kids weren't much better...they ate the candy off the top and the rest went in the trash. read more

Hurts offers gourmet donuts at Midwest prices--meaning the same donut in Portland will be $4 instead of $2. Getting a dozen is the way to go. I like the little timmy, my girlfriend loves their gigantic apple fritters, and we usually get a few to bring home (Andes Mint, Lucky Charms). They also have classic style donuts as well. Bring your own water as they don't offer cups of water. What they do have is an upstairs for consumption and a big window where you can watch them make the donuts. read more

Heard about this place for years, finally got a chance to take a drive down to Lincoln just for their donuts, which is my problem I guess. Not hard to find but parking sucks depending on what time of day you go. We went in excited because it looked cool and the donut choices were pretty cool. It was our first time there didn't know what to expect. The hostess looked at us like we were incompetent because we didn't know what we wanted. We told her it was our first time and just looked us and told us to let her know when we are ready. In previous places with specialty items, people with good customer service would welcome us and give us a brief story about the place or let us know what is popular and which is their personal favorite. She didn't do that, she turned away and start to talk to another employee. We were finally done and ready but she was into her conversation she forgot about us. We got her attention, she looked annoyed that we did, we ordered and she wasn't very friendly just looked at us after every choice, like "hurry up and pick" kind of look. So I got annoyed and just chose whatever because I wanted to leave. Then to my surprise she was starting to talk as we payed and found out why because she flipped the tablet for a tip. Oh okay so that's why she was nice at the end. Makes sense. So we leave and get home just to try these donuts. Honestly the are mediocre at best nothing special and kind of dry. Will not go back nor recommend this place. I work where people ask my opinion about Omaha and where to go, this won't even be brought up. THE BEST DONUT SHOP IN LINCOLN. The variety of flavors and atmosphere make this place amazing. It "hurts" me to just choose just one favorite flavor. Whether you enjoy the cake or yeast donuts or even gluten free, Hurts has it all. I would recommend trying the donut shake. Choose your favorite donut and turn it into one of the best desserts you could ever have. The maple bacon log is amazing too. Topped with mounds of chopped bacon, this donut is heavenly. Located downtown so you have to find parking but there are a couple of city garages with 1st hour free around. Came at 5pm on a Friday and the donut case was full. No shortage of donuts. Took a few minutes to read the chalk board. There I saw my 1st issue. $12 for a dozen "we pick" $15 a dozen you pick (paraphrase). They charge a $.25 fee per donut extra to pick the donuts you want. This is a 20% markup. They do the same thing for a half dozen. I could see maybe they had a bunch prepacked and ready to go buy that is not the case. They sit there and pick and fill the box with a random assortment of donuts. The first time you go maybe it isn't a big deal because you can try a bunch and decide what you like but I can picture on future trips getting a box of donuts which had some varieties you don't like. (Or paying the mark up to get what you want). On to the donuts. The donut itself was very good and would stand out on its own. The frosting on most of my assortment on the other hand was VERY sweet. Cake frosting sweet. So to me the best donut was wasn't Cookie Monster (but he was cute) or Cinnamon Toast Crunch or maple but a regular donut with sprinkles which was lighter in frosting. I may come back on a special occasion but I think I would more likely get LaMars speciality donuts if I was going to layout $15 for a dozen. But by all means check it out. The donuts are good. They have a lot of different choices. We got a dozen, kinda weird they charge you more to pick them out. At $15 a dozen it is kinda a novelty and I don't know that we will be back. It is in an old building. Staff was quick and helpful, willing to give recommendations. The go-to for a late night donut or donut milkshake. Staff is friendly and hardworking. My friends and I constantly go. The only problem I have is that I applied during a hiring period and the owner gave me an interview, but it was a huge inconvenience for her and she didn't even care about what I said. She wanted me to work 8-hour shifts 4 days a week but that is too long being a student. But, I do think that she is a good person, just had a bad day. read more

Wow, what a place! First it's difficult to find because the sign is small. The interior of the store is awesome with great signage about doughnuts. The doughnuts are over the top. Fritters & cinnamon roles as big as a dinner plate and any imaginable topping. We purchased a long john, lemon filled & Oreo & mint. The long john was the ok, lemon was great and filled full of lemon, the Oreo mint was over the top. If you don't like overly sweet doughnuts then stay away. I couldn't finish mine. Went In for a donut/milkshake combo. Decided to get 'the white and nerdy' which is essentially a white glazed donut with nerds candy. The milkshake that it comes with matches in flavor - vanilla milkshake with nerds candy. I was pretty excited to try this combo, however was disappointed upon trying the milkshake...it tasted like a blender that had been working too hard and burned up. Not sure how else to describe it, but something was definitely off. I've been in before and the donuts are good. Might give the milkshake another shot if I am ever in the area. read more
