I came here to second a review left a few months ago. This food is BLAND. We went yesterday for Mother's Day and had an overall ok experience. I had the Croissant Egg Sandwich and a Belgian Waffle. My mom had the Vegan Cowboy with Seitan Steak and the rest of my party had the Traditional Breakfast. I gave this place 3 stars because the atmosphere was nice, our waitress was superb, and the food presentation was well done. They had good food combinations. All of the food items that they paired together would have tasted great if it would have been seasoned properly. Ironically, they did not have salt and pepper shakers on the table. The absence of salt and pepper shakers may have been because we were not inside though, we were on the back patio. Which brings me to another problem. I'm assuming the back patio must be near the trash cans or something, because once the wind picked up it would start to smell like garbage. The smell only reached us when the wind was blowing just right and that did not happen while we were eating our food, so it didn't have a serious affect on the experience. If I were ever planning on going back though, I would ask to not be seated back there. I have zero intentions of going back however. I should not have to re-season my entire plate. I've been binge watching Worst Cooks in America and I feel like siccing Anne Burrell on them. I spoke with the rest of my party, and they all agreed the food lacked seasoning and no one would like to give it a second try. The highlight of the visit was Layla, our waitress. She was a mom working on Mother's day and she was very sweet towards my wayward nephew. She was prompt and efficient. I have no complaints about her. To whoever responds to these reviews, your comments made it seem like you guys just shrugged off the other review I saw. Hopefully if you get enough complaints about the lack of seasoning you guys will do something about it. I wrote this review for you guys; and also to warn folks that like tasty *flavorful* food to try a different restaurant. If you're just looking for a chill place with decent food that you don't mind reseasoning then this is the place for you. read more

When I used to live on this side of town, Hungry's in their old location was one of my favorite spots. I was little when it was called Hungry Int'l - I thought that meant something along the lines of you were "hungry until" you ate there. Older, wiser, and with Hungry's Cafe in a new location, I still think it's as good as ever. When I eat here, it's usually lunch time, as opposed to their Rice location where I eat for brunch or dinner. I usually go for the Baja Chicken Wrap, with grilled chicken, avocado, and black beans. And on a hot day, the accompanying ice-cold iceberg wedge salad with jalapeño ranch is refreshing. Most recently I was here for lunch on a Wednesday, and I happened to notice that on special was a Ginger Honey Glazed Salmon Wrap for $9 instead of a normal 12. Expertly cooked salmon with a sweet glaze that perfectly contrasted the savory bacon in a wrap with lettuce and avocado, along with that delicious wedge. I highly recommend it. In a heavily residential part of town, this place is often packed with suburbanites, but it has a communal vibe, and you can order just as easily at the counter as you can sitting down with a waiter. I ordered from Hungry's yesterday for Mother's Day as my mom wanted something brought in. We've been eating and ordering Hungry's for over 20 years and in the past it was excellent! Unfortunately the last three times we've ordered from them has been a disaster!! Even our very kind driver agreed that the service is pathetic. It's very sad that we will NEVER order from them again. I will say that they are consistent...at screwing up the delivery orders. Now, with that being said, I do want to mention the food is great quality and dining-in is pleasant without problems. The Memorial location of Hungry's is very consistent. My office relies heavily on them for lunch (2-3 visits each week). Take-out orders are always quick and complete, and they pack everything just so. I'm kind of a fan of the soup and salad combo. Greek salad (dressing on the side or it will be swimming - but for take-out it's automatically on the side) and black bean soup with their light and fluffy pita bread isn't a bad mid-day ritual. Their sandwiches are pretty good, too, (the California especially) but much like Cafe Express I've heard mixed things about their enrees. The mint iced tea is mmmmmm. The guys at my office love their desserts, too - Hungry's tempts you with pre-packed slices that stare at you from a refrigerated case while you wait to pick up your food. Portions are reasonable, on the large side of being normal. Decor is minimal and sorta artsy, atmosphere is casual and a little dull. Went here on a Saturday night with a party of 8. Place was not really packed. One of my cousins and I got shammed! Don't know whether to give the waitress props for tricking us or be upset that we were tricked. I think I might have to give her props. We ordered Strawberry Lemonades, and after finishing off our glasses, the waitress came by asking if we'd like another glass. You'd assume that means refill, right? Nooo. Not free refills. There goes another $3 for another glass. Should have listened to my other cousin, who warned us that she used to word it that way at her old waitressing job and charge customers. In the end, we couldn't get mad or upset because it was pretty funny to us..and what's another $3? Our waitress was pretty somber. I don't think we saw her crack a smile even once. She seemed like she had no energy. Mopey and tired. She brought us dirty small plates when she brought out our Spinach Aritchoke Dip. I ordered the Penne Rustica and Wedge Salad. When she brought out my entree, there was no salad in sight. First off, I kind of expected my salad to come out before my entree, but it didn't even come out WITH my entree. I had to ask for it. After all of our entrees were brought it, she pretty much disappeared until we asked for our checks. My Penne Rustica was bland. I took a few bites and kept trying to push myself to continue eating it. I added tabasco, cheese, salt & pepper to try to add flavor. I finished maybe 1/4 of my dish. Initially I was not a big fan of this place. Quality of food and selection has improved tremendously. Good variety of sandwiches, entrees, salads and small plates. On a decent day nice patio to sit out to eat. Biggest downside to this location is parking. So if dining for lunch, I would suggest showing up at 11:30am to avoid the rush and limited spaces. Hungry's is one of my favorite West Houston neighborhood restaurants. It's one of the few cafe style places in the area. They serve great wraps, especially the baja wrap and the garden of eatin wrap. I rarely order anything else, because I usually go there when I am craving one of the wraps. I like the fact that the food tastes great and I still feel healthy when I eat there. Last Saturday I thought I'd try out Hungry's for brunch hoping i would find a that place i could take my friends. Not Happening! I ordered the crab cake eggs Benedict with herb roasted potatoes. The presentation was not bad. My first bite was the potatoes. They were cold, stale, and hard as if its been left out over night and heated up in the microwave insufficiently. I then asked to get some new potatoes, to which the waitress says its not allowed. She offered to take my whole plate to heat up the potatoes. Doing so would have cooked my eggs benedict. Enough about potatoes. The crab cakes were frozen - heated up to serve. So it seems like the only thing they cooked were the eggs. My girlfriend ordered the croissant french toast. Can't go wrong with french toast right? Except they poured the syrup in there for her already, leaving the french toast soaked and less to desire. Staff there was unwelcoming and unknowledgeable. The hostess was having a bad morning already or something. Our waitress seemed lost in her job. We asked her if we could have some jam. She looked confused. We asked what kind of jam they had. Such good food it's hard to try new things because you know what you like is amazing! The strawberry lemonade is probably the best I've had and the gyro is so good! The fries that come with it are fresh, hot and they give you a large portion. We always get the hummus too and you get lots of pita bread with it along with celery. I came here while in town for my boyfriend's high school reunion. We came for lunch and it was PACKED on a weekday. I was shocked and I recall asking my dining partners if any of these people had jobs, I mean, I know it's a bad economy and all. For lunch I ordered a veggie wrap with rice, and it was alright, not great. The thing that really sticks out for me about my experience here was the poor service. I have no complaints. I've gone twice with my business associates for lunch and both times were satisfying. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 because I want to go for dinner and maybe sit on the other side to get that experience but don't let that stop you from eating here. Everything is always fresh and seasoned well. They have roasted Brusell sprouts with.chili sauce as an appetizer. Omg so good. A meal in itself. I've had the crab cakes too. Don't expect a Maryland style crab cake, I'm very picky about that since I'm from MD but these weren't that bad, it do have a lot of filler but the flavor is good. I had the Anaheim Chile Grilled Chicken and mmm mmm good. The chicken was so moist and the sauce over it was a great compliment. I have had the steak and chicken kabobs previously and it was delicious. My lunch companions enjoyed their food as well, choosing the rainbow trout, the honey garlic salmon, nothing left on their plates. This place is a definite no go for brunch on Sundays. The service is pretty horrible, and dear god the food here is horrendous. Not to mention that they don't know how to make anything beyond a basic expresso or coffee. The girlfriend asked for a macchiato and they had no clue how to make it. She settled for an expresso and they didn't even ask if she wanted a single or double. Sad news. The food itself was pretty bad too, I asked for over easy eggs and seemed to get a fried egg without a runny yolk, loads of over fried (what looked like pre cooked) bacon, and old looking fruit. Great place for semi-healthy food in the Energy Corridor with decent cocktails. I'm a big fan of the Kale Salad (I know, I'm rolling my eyes at myself), with shrimp added on top. It isn't cheap, but really worth it because all of the ingredients are fresh and the shrimp is cooked perfectly. I usually pair this with a glass of their sparkling rose. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the outdoor patio is refreshing for a cooler day. They did a good job trying to mask some of the road noise on Memorial. There is plenty of parking in the back, but now it is all valet instead of self-parking, which is really annoying. It is worth mentioning is that sometimes the ladies room is a little messy and there is a kind of strange sewage smell like there might be a plumbing problem somewhere. read more

Both were okay, I liked the tacos better they had flavor. As for the salad it was bland not so good, I haven't went back but for drinks yes. Stephen Y and I hit this place up recently when we wanted to get a quick lunch before running errands. When we went it was packed since everyone was getting out of church, but we managed to get seated pretty quickly. We decided to split a gyro pita and an iceberg wedge salad...half unhealthy, half healthy. The gyro was stuffed full of meat, tomatoes, and onions, and sauce. The meat was juicy and soft...mmmm just thinking about it makes me drool!! The fries had a good seasoning on them as well. The wedge salad was fresh and huge! It came with pieces of bacon, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The feta cheese jalapeno dressing that comes with it is one of the better dressings Stephen Y. says he has ever had. I love the Hungry's in Rice Village so I thought this location would be good too. I was definitely wrong!! Our food was served room temperature at best. The pizza was not wood fired but baked...and in an oven that was not hot enough to make a crispy crust! I recently went there for lunch, on a cold Saturday afternoon. I guess during the week, you order at the counter and then find a table. On the weekend, they seat you, take your order and bring you your food. I ordered a Baja Chicken Wrap. It was served with a HUGE wedge salad with a jalapeno ranch dressing. Damn Yummy! The wrap had chicken, black beans, avocado, some feta and a great chipotle chili sauce. Great iced tea too. Solid lunch place, with a great variety of items. The portions are huge too. Well I have eaten at many places, and when I saw some one else post something about eggs Benedict, I just had to write something. While I do also love eggs Benedict, it's not the best I have tasted. While good, I felt that it needed more seasoning of basic salt and pepper. I have eaten it here in the past and let me say today was a far improvement. As many dishes at this restaurant they try to be so many things to so many people. I understand that is this competitive industry. The food is always good enough to eat, but always tends to miss something. Its like saying, " I can make this at home". But they do well for not really specializing in a particular type of cuisine. I've been eating at Hungry's for about 3 years now but had brunch for only the 2nd time yesterday and it was AMAZING. I wanted to go brunchin' in the Heights somewhere so I could sit on the patio and sip on a mimosa while watching football. However, my guy wanted to stay close to home so Hungry's we went (I just really wanted their Strawberry mimosa). He had the eggs benedict which was served with red potatoes and fruit. I had the quinoa kale patties (gluten free, veg) which was served with a side salad and fruit. Both were incredibly delicious and pretty much guilt free. They have a large patio area although it gets pretty packed on Saturday/Sunday for brunch. Drinks are a little pricey ($6 mimosa/ $25 carafe mimosa, $7 bloody mary) but worth it. read more

This location needs to step up its game service-wise. Food is mostly good, much like the Rice Village location. Appetizers here are almost as expensive as entrees, and they are nothing to write home about. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip...there was way too much spinach and not enough artichoke or cheese, it was impossible to dip the tortilla chips without them crumbling. I was more pleased with the entrees. The husband got his burger the way he liked (medium rare), and I really liked my meatloaf. It's all beef, and the chunky tomato sauce complimented it well, it wasn't too acidic or sweet. The meatloaf had the perfect texture too. And the sides! The garlic mashed potatoes were topped with a creamy mushroom sauce...it was delicious. The green beans were a little softer too, which I liked. We had a difficult time getting drink refills, we were without soda for a good fifteen minutes. It was not a busy night at all, but our server was nowhere to be seen. Husband and I came here for Brunch & really enjoyed it. The Chicken Apple Sausage is really good. Nice sweet mild flavor & not greasy at all. The Pita Bread that came with his entree was really good. It made me want to come back for a Gyro sometime soon. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict. The crab cakes were pretty good. Not as much crab as I would have liked & more breading that needed, but it had a nice flavor to it & the sauce was perfect & the eggs were poached just right. The potatoes had good seasoning & were cooked just enough, not to hard & not too soft. My Strawberry Mimosa was OK but I like a bit more Champagne. This is another place that few of my co-workers and I go for lunch on the weekdays. We always have to get here early because they have a limited spaces for parking. Although, they do have complementary valet service if you can't find parking. So, during lunch you have the option to either sit down and have waiter/waitress service or order your food up at the kitchen. We tend to just go up to the bar to order our food. Whenever I come here, I tend to always get their honey glazed salmon wrap with a side salad. Their honey glazed salmon wrap is always cooked perfectly and when you take your first bite into it, the salmon just melts in your mouth. Whenever we come here, I just know that i'm eating something really healthy and I like that feeling. The reason why I'm giving this place a 3 stars instead of a 5 is because of their lack of customer service. It just seems like when we get our food, they are hovering over us and seeing if we are finished so they can clean our table and we can leave. I'm not sure if they do this with anyone but it just seems that this has happened to us a couple of times either if we sit down and have waiter/waitress service or ordered at the bar first. We came for brunch and had no trouble getting a seat. My girlfriend recommended the burger since she had been here before and knew the burger was good. I ordered the 1/2 lb. smoke house burger medium rare. I'm pretty big on burgers, so to be fair I'm a little bit of a critic. It certainly wasn't the best burger I've tried, but it was tasty and evenly made. It wasn't overly cooked, nor undercooked. The presentation was an A. My problem was the bread to meat ratio. There was too much bread for what meat was available. The meat was good, but a bit dry. Some burgers get messy from meat juice. This one got messy from the condiments and tomatoes. The fries came with a nice seasoning. I would say overall it was about a 7.5 out of 10 burger. read more

If I could provide 0 stars I would. I visited this restaurant with my mother and sister on Sunday. We were seated and choose outdoor seating. We sat at the table for 20 minutes no one came to take a drink order or even ask if it was our first time. My sister went inside to ask can someone come an take our order and the waiter said he'll send someone. Not even 2 minutes later 3 young ladies came and sat outdoors as well. The same waiter she spoken to came outside and assisted the young ladies before they could even sit. I have never felt like my money was not good enough. I would not suggest anyone to visit this restaurant if you plan being served or treated like a paying customer. Lesson learned, the prior reviews commented on the same issue.
