Have you ever floated in the sunlight with a glass of wine? Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird Inn! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and made check-in a breeze. The inn has a quiet, peaceful vibe that made it the perfect mid-week escape. We stayed in a charming bungalow with only one other room attached, offering just the right amount of privacy. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds were super comfortable. The stylish pool was a lovely spot to unwind, and the bikes available for guests made exploring town fun and easy. Ojai is flowing with wine. Pedal with caution. The Hummingbird Inn offers a lot of value at an affordable price. I'm already planning to come back for a girls' getaway soon!

I had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird Inn. In my opinion, the hotel was tastefully renovated. The lobby is cozy and curated and the grounds manicured. There is a lot of outdoor seating to soak in the sun and enjoy the serenity. The room smelled a little mildewy but that's understandable because it's an older hotel. Otherwise, the room was comfortable. I love the attention to detail: interior design/ color palette, dimmable and warming lighting, energy-efficient air-conditioning & heating, eco-conscious Plant Paper toilet paper!, and their very own line of bath amenities! I loved the body and hair care products so much so that I bought my own set. I enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee (Canyon Coffee) with the scent of burning palo santo. I look forward to my next stay! Other things to note: Parking is free. The pet fee is $40 per night, which includes pet bowls and a welcome treat. Pet relief lawn looks maintained. My only complaints are the lack of sound insulation and the outdated shower.

the living room area (with a tv and an armless couch)

My partner and I are pretty chill travelers and splurged on the king suite here for our anniversary trip. There aren't many photos of it online (I think because it was recently renovated) but it was kind of a let down and the room definitely isn't worth $500 a night. The tub is gorgeous but we had some issues with the drain and the front desk person on our first night told us no one could fix it until 7am the next morning and we could try to stick a hand towel in the water to unscrew the whole drain, which we did but it made the whole room felt kinda wet and gross all night. The sheets were also pretty scratchy which is a huge bummer. Would probably stay here again in a cheaper room but for $500 a night we've stayed at way nicer places with tons of amenities. Not trying to be a hater but I wish I'd known more about the room before we booked it!

Cute, quaint place to stay in Ojai, California. Still going through renovation. Desperately needs a couple more lights in the room.

The Hummingbird Inn is a quiet, quaint stay in Ojai. A minimalist design to update this Inn was warm and inviting. Comfortable beds, and delicious morning coffee.

Night time at the pool was lovely and it was open till 10pm!

What's not to love? I had a two day seminar in Ojai and wanted to stay as close to downtown as possible. After doing a bunch of research I landed on the Hummingbird, pun intended. This place is a gem! I couldn't believe what I was getting especially for the price I paid. The room was clean, the t.v. was smart, the pool was perfect, the staff was outstanding, and the grounds were so peaceful. There are places that charge three times as much and not half as nice as the Hummingbird Inn. Get an upstairs room if you can and just relax..

I was almost scared off from this place by the bad reviews, but I'm very glad I stayed here. I chose this place because it was the most affordable option in Ojai that allows dogs. Only certain rooms are dog friendly, but you can get one without paying the exorbitant rates that other places charge. I agree that the rooms are a bit sterile, but they're clean and comfortable, which matters more to me. And so nice and cool on the hot days! As many others have mentioned, they have renovations going on so it's loud during the day, but perfectly quiet at night. And free parking! The location is on the main street, but about a half mile east from the central shops. It was close enough that I could easily walk into "town" for meals and shopping. Overall, everything I need in a hotel.

i had the most incredible time here. the property is absolutely stunning, pristine and peaceful. i stayed in one of the casitas and would highly recommend! everything was clean and really aesthetically pleasing. beds are comfy, shower is great! didn't get to swim, but i hung out on the loungers for a while. towels are provided & there are floaties! there are picnic tables around the property to sit and smoke at too. the lobby is beyond stunning too! in the morning there is great coffee & tea too. honestly a great price for the space and amenities. for real, i could stay here for days - and next time i will!

    Dog friendly!

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience here! Hummingbird Inn is perfect for an authentic experience in Ojai. It's simple and quaint, clean, nice rooms, and in a great location. When going to Ojai it's all about being a part of the simplicity of the culture and this was perfect for that. It's nothing fancy it's just cute and charming. I loved the minimalist renovated style of the bathroom and bed. The porch in back of our room was adorable with the most spectacular view of The Valley. The staff were really friendly.. it was such an easy process to get in and out with just a punch code. The hotel was really quiet and I felt like we had privacy. The pool was adorable. The inn is right near all the best stores and restaurants so that made it easy for us. Most importantly for me, everything was perfectly clean. Would definitely come back.

Super cute hotel! It's getting renovated right now but we had an awesome stay. Super friendly staff, comfy beds, and close to the downtown area. Would definitely stay here again!

I booked a room in October of 2025 for a wedding in May 2026 (May 21-May 23). I just received an email this morning letting me know I did not have a room due to construction going on in my particular room which began in January and will not be complete by the time I check in. Not only did Julia not give me any suggestions of where to go, she actually had a room available at a higher cost which she a) did not offer to me for the inconvenience b) did not offer it to me at a discount. Before she emailed me this should have taken care of. Julia's bad planning basically caused me to have to spend a lot more money or cancel the much anticipated wedding of a very close friend. Julia kept silent after apologizing (not profusely btw) for the "inconvenience" she caused. I should have not even heard from her until check in with a "i'm sorry but your original room is under construction so we gave you this better room" I gave the name of this hotel to 2 other people and booked so so far in advance. She did refund my money but it is Memorial day weekend and prices have skyrocketed and nothing is available. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated fairly. She had the nerve to tell me the room that was available was a lot more money with no discount nothing. This woman has ZERO business acumen and I can not say enough bad things about her in this one post. It was such an "Oh Well" attitude ...She had so many options to give a) offer me the room b) offer me the room at a discounted rate c) find me a room during the most crowded weekend and offer to pay the difference d) offer me a coupon to come back with a free night ........awful awful awful .....I hope the other people in the party cancel and find something else but they are probably stuck here because nothing is available.

It is very clean and the renovations were clearly very intentional with design in mind. It is an incredibly cohesive property. The rooms themselves are comfortable and I loved that the temperature was very adjustable. The bathroom was a bit bizarre. I will never understand the appeal to the shower design. It's the kind of shower that is only separated from the rest of the bathroom by half of a glass wall. Which just means, no matter how careful you are, the entire bathroom will be soaked. In terms of property amenities, the ample free parking was a huge plus. And the complementary bikes seemed great, thought we didn't get a chance to take advantage of them. There is a nice large field in the back which would be a great place to stargaze at night. We did check out the hot tub on the last morning, and I was very disappointed that it was hardly warm. The rooms come with a unique selection of snacks for purchase, but I was shocked to see they were charging $4 for the packet of instant coffee next to the kettle. I'm glad I noticed they were charging for that, because I would've assumed it was free. No chance that's worth it. There was decent coffee available in the lobby for free. When looking at a map, it showed it was only a 10-15 minute walk into the main stretch of town, so we planned to walk daily. Unfortunately, there is just enough distance on the road between the hotel and the downtown where there is no sidewalk, to a point where we felt it would be unsafe to walk at night. So we had to drive 2 minutes down the road instead. If they were able to create a path with a street lamp or two, that would make a huge difference! The staff was incredibly nice and I was glad they were able to help out with anything we needed! I did find it a bit odd that the hotel is only staffed 8AM-10PM. Apart from offering an equally bad room the next day (after the smell had started to wane), removing the refrigerator and replacing our towels, there was essentially no effort to make this right. Staff explained door keys often fail if they're placed near a cell phone -- as though that is normal!
