What a beautiful place to stay! We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed in the tree house room which was perfect for 2, one caveat was that this room had a shared bathroom. Everything was super clean and the rooms had all the amenities needed. We opted for one their specials and loved the flowers and champagne, such a great touch! The breakfast was asp perfect, they have a different sweet everyday day and the food when we were there consisted of hard boiled eggs, lemon loaf, banana bread and all the fixings!! Can't wait to come back and stay here again.

I've passed by The Lavender Inn whenever I stop by Ojai for the day and bookmarked it as a possible place to stay if I ever decided to overnight. Well, I saw they had a package deal and I called to ask for it, that's a good enough reason. Unfortunately, that deal had already been taken up but I was given a discount code for a later time. By that time I had a dog and while they are dog friendly, the cottage was already and they only have one room in the house that allows pets. Fortunately, that was available so I pulled the trigger on it. First the location is great, it's right in the middle of downtown and they let you park there before check-in and after check out so you can walk around comfortably. They don't just allow pets, but they're pet friendly. What's the difference? Well they provided a water bowl, treats as well as some individually wrapped poop bags, a thoughtful and surprising touch. They also let my pup go around their yard space which is bigger than it seems with a couple of quiet nooks that seem to appear. I also used their onsite spa for a massage in their gazebo. The massage was great with focus placed on the problem areas I mentioned. Really the only minus was during my visit the breakfast was pretty limited, basically some pastries but that banana bread was terrific.

Beautiful inn! Small with only 6 rooms but wonderfully decorated with lots of common spaces! They have wines during the evenings and complimentary breakfast in the mornings! Will definitely return next time I'm in ojai!

I haven't checked out yet and I'm already writing this review because it has been such a positive experience. The grounds are gorgeous, the cottage is gorgeous. Ojai and The Lavender Inn are just lovely, peaceful places. I already can't wait to come back! Highly recommended.

Quaint, quiet, and comfortable here, and the location could not be a better one. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and what I would expect from a cottage bandb a setting for relaxation for sure

I just loved this place and want to go back. It's an old house that they made into a B&B. Not a ton of rooms. We checked a few out, they were all decorated so beautifully. And had great little balconies. The grounds are peaceful and so pretty, lots of places to sit and relax, read a book or have a drink. The location is perfectly situated, easy walk to everything. Free, convenient parking right in front. Super easy check in and out. We didn't get breakfast, which I think they served pre-covid? Great place to stay if you want an awesome getaway in Ojai. There are a lot of places to stay in Ojai, I'm so glad I found this one, overall great experience!

And at least for some rooms, the views are phenomenal! So one star for the service, one for the view - if you pick the right room - make sure to ask! Unfortunately, the grounds really, really need a landscaping overhaul. Similarly, the room interiors and window coverings seem tired. Their "European" breakfast seemed no better than a Holiday Inn Express. A lot of it is prepackaged stuff. The "assorted cheeses" are identical to the pre-sliced packaged stuff from Vons as is the bread and bagels. The only effort put into appears to be the hard-boiled eggs (unpeeled, of course). They could easily step it up several notches by sourcing pastries from locals, making oatmeal to serve, and getting a decent cheese and meat selection, but after the second disappointing day of the exact same thing we headed to town for breakfast. For us, the most off-putting thing was all the ridiculous signs everywhere! We counted 22 separate signs from driving in the entrance to opening the door to our room - four or five were helpful. And then there's all the signage IN your room (did you really need to label the ice bucket as "Ice Bucket"???). It seems like someone just went to town with a label maker and laminator. Maybe just us, but we felt it was tacky, unnecessary and detracting.

From the initial call to book, to the welcoming, through our stay and check out, the staff was excellent and the accommodations were super comfy. There was a crystal clear pool surrounded by trees to provide shade from the sun. The pool area was clean and well-stocked with towels. The jacuzzi was powerful and the chairs and lounges were comfortable. Old Spanish charm, lush gardens, plenty of different suites to choose from, quiet, and only a short car ride to the main street area of Ojai (or bike ride as there are bikes to rent and the bike path into town right out front!). I loved the patios our suite had on both the front and back sides. We used them both during our stay. I purchased the Breakfast Basket, which we enjoyed having in the morning with the coffee and tea that is provided for free in the rooms. The bagels and assorted items in the basket were fresh and convenient. There are also snacks in the room for purchase, if you get the late night munchies. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils for meal prep. The only thing I'd change is to have no pets allowed (or to have one specific pet-friendly unit), but I'm sure many others disagree. That being said, the Inn appeared very clean. I will definitely look forward to visiting again!

To begin this place is very charming my husband arrived first then I came shortly after. The first evening I noticed I woke up with itching but didn't think much of it. After the next morning we woke up to major yard work cutting of the palm trees and a whole lot of noise without notice just a knock on the door that if our car was parked near by we need to move it. The final day I woke up to being bit by a bed bug I jumped out of bed and noticed I had one crawling on my night gown and panicked I went thru all of our luggage and woke him up to get up and on the bed we seen another 2 crawling on the bed. I was dumbfounded trying to figure out what it was since the office doesn't open until I don't know because I had to leave for work at 7am and Noone was there so I let my husband take care of the situation. By this time we still didn't know what those were. Once my husband decided to check out he said he went to the office and spoke to an office manager/owner and he showed her the bugs and her response was she had no idea what they were with surprise on her face so my husband being as kind as he is believed it. Now we come here and see this is not the first time this cause for concern of bed bugs is brought to their attention and it's clear there isn't anything being done about it. It hardens my heart to leave a review in this manner as we really loved this place but to find out this is an issue never addressed is cause for concern their return policy didn't take care of all the belongings we had to throw away because we are not sure we didn't bring any home with us. !!!PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS YOU HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE THERE IT WOULD BE A SHAME IT'S NEGLIGENCE WILL CAUSE FOR IT TO CLOSE DOWN. For many years, Ojai Valley Inn was one of my favorite destinations. I have stayed at the resort…read moreseven or eight times and always considered it a special place to celebrate important occasions. Unfortunately, after my recent experience, I do not plan to return. For Father's Day weekend, I booked what I hoped would be a memorable getaway for my husband and me. I prepaid $5,364.45 for a two-night stay in a Deluxe King with a View Room. In addition, I made dinner reservations at the resort's fine dining restaurant, scheduled a golf outing for two because my husband loves golf, and booked a couples massage. I was genuinely looking forward to a special and relaxing weekend. On June 5, I searched for Ojai Valley Inn on Google and called the phone number that appeared online. Unbeknownst to me, I was connected to a third-party reservation company called Hotel Reservations rather than the resort directly. I received a confirmation email that included Ojai Valley Inn's name, a confirmation number, an itinerary number, and proof of payment. After driving nearly three hours from Newport Beach to the resort, I was shocked to learn that Ojai Valley Inn could not locate my reservation. I presented all of my documentation and confirmation details, yet after nearly an hour of waiting, the issue remained unresolved. I contacted Hotel Reservations while standing at the front desk, and they confirmed that a reservation existed in their system. Unfortunately, the third-party company and the hotel were unable to reconcile the discrepancy. What disappointed me most was not the reservation issue itself, but the hotel's response. The front desk associate assisting us was kind, empathetic, mentioned they will have a room available for us, and appeared genuinely committed to finding a solution. However, when the front desk manager, Morgan Giuseponi, became involved, I felt that very little effort was made to accommodate us despite our circumstances. Given our longstanding history with the resort, our prepaid reservation, and the fact that we already had dining, golf, and spa reservations on property, I expected some attempt to help us remain at the resort. Instead, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and were advised to seek accommodations elsewhere. Whether the issue originated with the third-party booking company or elsewhere, I had hoped Ojai Valley Inn would demonstrate the level of hospitality and problem-solving that luxury resorts are known for. Rather than allowing the situation to ruin Father's Day weekend, we chose to stay at Rosewood Miramar Beach instead. Fortunately, the experience there was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and proactive. The contrast in customer care was impossible to ignore. Luxury hospitality is not measured by how a property performs when everything goes according to plan. It is measured by how it responds when something goes wrong. In this case, I left feeling that Ojai Valley Inn was unwilling to help a loyal, repeat guest during a difficult situation. This experience was deeply disappointing and has permanently changed my perception of a resort I once loved. While the reservation issue may not have been entirely the hotel's fault, the lack of effort to find a solution certainly was. For that reason, I will not be returning.

It's perfect for time alone to write, paint, think, meditate -- or -- romantic time with your special someone, walks around the property, etc. Additionally, you should know that no smoking, or meat, is allowed on the property -- veggie only. Just part of what makes this a different, yet special, experience. I stayed for 2 nights, and perhaps experienced the best sleep I've had in a very long time. Extremely quiet location! This is also encouraged, and made possible, by prohibiting TV, radio/computers (with headphones it's okay), and alcohol -- no getting drunk and loud here! It is very clean and the renovations were clearly very intentional with design in mind. It is an incredibly cohesive property. The rooms themselves are comfortable and I loved that the temperature was very adjustable. The bathroom was a bit bizarre. I will never understand the appeal to the shower design. It's the kind of shower that is only separated from the rest of the bathroom by half of a glass wall. Which just means, no matter how careful you are, the entire bathroom will be soaked. In terms of property amenities, the ample free parking was a huge plus. And the complementary bikes seemed great, thought we didn't get a chance to take advantage of them. There is a nice large field in the back which would be a great place to stargaze at night. We did check out the hot tub on the last morning, and I was very disappointed that it was hardly warm. The rooms come with a unique selection of snacks for purchase, but I was shocked to see they were charging $4 for the packet of instant coffee next to the kettle. I'm glad I noticed they were charging for that, because I would've assumed it was free. No chance that's worth it. There was decent coffee available in the lobby for free. When looking at a map, it showed it was only a 10-15 minute walk into the main stretch of town, so we planned to walk daily. Unfortunately, there is just enough distance on the road between the hotel and the downtown where there is no sidewalk, to a point where we felt it would be unsafe to walk at night. So we had to drive 2 minutes down the road instead. If they were able to create a path with a street lamp or two, that would make a huge difference! The staff was incredibly nice and I was glad they were able to help out with anything we needed! I did find it a bit odd that the hotel is only staffed 8AM-10PM. We were told we'd receive a credit and were helped over the phone the next day to rebook for April. During that call, we agreed to a small price increase (under $100) to stay at the inn, and I have a voicemail confirming that conversation. Two days before our trip, I called to confirm - only to be told they'd need to call me back. That's when we learned we were not booked at the inn at all, but instead in an ADA unit at the Bungalow, at an additional $400 cost. This was the first time we were told about either the location change or the significant price increase. We were also never informed that the inn was under construction. When I spoke with the manager, he admitted (somewhat reluctantly) that our reservation had only been entered into the system three days prior. However, because we didn't have an email confirmation, he refused to acknowledge or take responsibility for the fact that they failed to properly book what was agreed to over the phone. Instead, we were offered a 10% discount, which did little to offset a 150% price increase - and were told we had effectively been "upgraded" to a more expensive room, without our consent or prior notice. The entire situation felt dismissive and evasive. Rather than owning a clear mistake, management deflected responsibility and left us paying for it.
