Begbug bite

Stayed 2 nights, came back with bedbug bites. Called to notify them and they asked me to "call back in the morning and speak to a manager". When I explained that bedbugs are an immediate concern and that they needed to get on this NOW, the person on the line hung up on me. Stay away!

He came up to Ohio last minute and found a wonderful place that is pet friendly and would highly recommend this location and if you have a pet, I would suggest getting a larger place with a patio and yard such as the Casita del Sol room. The pool is a bit small and can get crowded if you go at the wrong time, but it is a charming place and the staff is very friendly at night. The place takes on a magic of its own. It's enchanting and quiet and romantic keep in mind that this is not near, the downtown Ojai area so you will need to drive a few minutes to frequent the restaurants and shops.

A must visit destination ever since it came on my radar ages ago. The whimsical titular sculpture caught my heart and finally made it out there. It's just two miles south of Ojai and across the street from the Ojai Valley Trail. Arrived on a Thursday afternoon after 4 pm so able to check in immediately. It's just two miles south of Ojai and across the street from the Ojai Valley Trail . Cute front desk lobby had it all. We reserved a deluxe king room that had a small semi-secluded patio set for our use but time got away from us and it was too chilly to use til check out day. The room was so cute with rustic whimsical touches throughout. A DVD player(DVDs available at front office). Very clean and well-appointed with a fridge, microwave, kitchenette setup to prep coffee(Gaviña-for the snobs), hot tea and cocoa. Additional sweet treats and drinks are available to enjoy for a fee. If you want housekeeping, it's available if you inform front desk by 11 am. Two robes were available to use which we did to make use of the jacuzzi (tile work surrounding it is beautiful). We could hear kids on the property but the environment was tranquil for all to enjoy(the sister property, Emerald Iguana, is 14+ I believe). The property is beautiful, serene, lush... everything I could ask for.

O quintessential Ojai California! Offered everything great service, location, price, and really beautiful accommodations. Want to come back sooner than later and don't forget to locate the upper deck area which has an entire.

Living room of our bungalow!

This hotel ROCKED!! We absolutely loved it and will be back without a doubt! We were in total heaven from the moment we pulled in to the moment we very reluctantly left! Could've happily stayed a week lol! We took a little impromptu overnight hiking trip up to Ojai last week and scored a great deal for our night here! We got the two bedroom bungalow- it was fantastic!! It's MASSIVE!! It has a large living room with a gas fireplace and a gorgeous, cozy, fenced in, private patio right off it - it was perfect!! It had a huge kitchen with everything you need to cook anything pretty much and even had a dining table seating area!! So huge! The two bedrooms are found right off the living room. They both join onto the full bathroom and one of them has its own half bath (it only has a sink and toilet - so you'll be sharing the tub/shower - not at all an issue for us). The bedrooms both have their own doors closing off the bathroom for privacy. The sides of the bathtub were quite high - so be aware if you have any issues getting in and out - felt like I was climbing a mountain haha! But it was absolutely spotless and had great water pressure - and excellent quality toiletries! One bedroom had a king bed and one a queen. I believe the couch folds out to a bed as well if you should need it. We got a great last minute deal with a discount code on CheapTickets - literally booked it around 12-1230pm and were settled in by dinner time!! Staff were super nice! Check in was a smooth process - no issues at all - even though I realized I had left my purse at home!! So I had no ID or anything lol! But they accepted my confirmation email and I had already prepaid. Parking is gravel lots all around the grounds with plenty of spaces. And the grounds - wow!! Gorgeous huge grassy park-like areas with fire pits, strings of soft lights, and cozy seating. They even rent bikes!! Which is awesome Bc it's located right next to the Ojai to Ventura bike trail! Not to mention all the amazing hiking in the area! And their pool - WOOOOWWWW!! I can't wait to come back and hang out there - it's a sublime area! Huge hot tub up on its own little platform overlooking the well kept pool and grounds - and full of fun art pieces! Incredible ambiance! Total relaxation and joy! It's currently by reservation due to Covid so be aware and plan ahead. They also have DVDs to check out if you want to have a movie night!! The location is perfect too - within short/easy driving distance to Ojai shops and attractions and all the hiking trails - but far enough away to be quiet and calming. Be sure to pay attention though Bc the entrance is sooo unassuming that it will sneak up on you!

We love this place, the staff is always amazing and on point. The WiFi is good and the greenery is nice , my wife and I have stayed here twice and are planning on returning on Thanksgiving .. the beds are pretty comfortable also... Thank you Staff

We rented the King Patio suite for 3 people and the experience was relatively nice. The environment and surroundings are beautiful and we had a pretty good experience. We stayed in the suite for one night and it included a full kitchen with everything from pots to pans to utensils and cups included. They also have a microwave and stoves. The kitchen was great and very convenient. The suite had a king sized bed which was nice but a little small for 3. The bathroom is clean and has a bathtub/shower, a sink, and includes some basic toiletries like soap, moisturizer, conditioner, shampoo and makeup wipes. The only complaint I have is the TV, which was kind of small, and doesn't have any Netflix or channels like that, only TV channels. Furthermore, when we tried to play a movie that we rented from the front office (they have a huge selection to choose from for free!!) the remote didn't work. The TV is also kind of small but there are two, one in the bedroom and one near the couch. The patio was great and they have candles to light. It was a little cold when we went so it was too chilly to sit outside for a long time. However, the seating and surroundings, as well as the greenery, really complete the vibe of this inn. Overall, an amazing experience.

Lovely pool and jacuzzi area

Really unique and beautiful hotel and property, with variety of rooms and cottages available. We were just in town for a quick 1-night stay, so just opted for one of the simpler, 2-Queen rooms (#9), but was still very nice with pretty tiled floors and bathroom, original artwork, comfy beds, and good air conditioning. The property is beautifully landscaped with mature trees and lots of flowers and decorative tile sculptures. The pool and jacuzzi area is very inviting, with comfy lounge chairs, little tile side tables, and grass and flowers. It does have a bit of traffic noise, since the main road runs right behind it, but did t notice the traffic noise from our room. Lovely stay. Might try their sister property, the Emerald Iguana, next time.

Great rooms and a perfect location. Check in was great. Rooms are spacious and clean.

Not sure any of the pictures taken of this place do it justice. I was expecting a true motel, but this place is GORGEOUS. The beds are deliciously comfortable, they had lovely gifts waiting for us in our room, and the staff was beyond accommodating. Upon arrival, our room had a small flaw that needed professional work on, and they instantly accommodated us to a suite. Both rooms were equally aesthetically beautiful, but their response was very impressive and made us love it even more. There are a few things to the inn that could use updating as it has maturity to it, but nothing that affected the enjoyment of our experience, especially for the incredible value that they provide. Jump on it, get here, go have dinner at the Dutchess, and live like your royal self should.

We came on a Saturday early afternoon and started at one of their restaurants. The food was amazing, but service was definitely on the slower side. The vibe was so calm, mostly women just chatting, unwinding, and enjoying each other in this peaceful little paradise. We ordered smoothies poolside and omg...so fresh and refreshing. Service at the spa pool was great, everyone seemed to be working together seamlessly and checking in often without being overbearing. I booked a room in October of 2025 for a wedding in May 2026 (May 21-May 23). I just received an email this morning letting me know I did not have a room due to construction going on in my particular room which began in January and will not be complete by the time I check in. Not only did Julia not give me any suggestions of where to go, she actually had a room available at a higher cost which she a) did not offer to me for the inconvenience b) did not offer it to me at a discount. Before she emailed me this should have taken care of. Julia's bad planning basically caused me to have to spend a lot more money or cancel the much anticipated wedding of a very close friend. Julia kept silent after apologizing (not profusely btw) for the "inconvenience" she caused. I should have not even heard from her until check in with a "i'm sorry but your original room is under construction so we gave you this better room" I gave the name of this hotel to 2 other people and booked so so far in advance. She did refund my money but it is Memorial day weekend and prices have skyrocketed and nothing is available. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated fairly. She had the nerve to tell me the room that was available was a lot more money with no discount nothing. This woman has ZERO business acumen and I can not say enough bad things about her in this one post. It was such an "Oh Well" attitude ...She had so many options to give a) offer me the room b) offer me the room at a discounted rate c) find me a room during the most crowded weekend and offer to pay the difference d) offer me a coupon to come back with a free night ........awful awful awful .....I hope the other people in the party cancel and find something else but they are probably stuck here because nothing is available.

It is very clean and the renovations were clearly very intentional with design in mind. It is an incredibly cohesive property. The rooms themselves are comfortable and I loved that the temperature was very adjustable. The bathroom was a bit bizarre. I will never understand the appeal to the shower design. It's the kind of shower that is only separated from the rest of the bathroom by half of a glass wall. Which just means, no matter how careful you are, the entire bathroom will be soaked. In terms of property amenities, the ample free parking was a huge plus. And the complementary bikes seemed great, thought we didn't get a chance to take advantage of them. There is a nice large field in the back which would be a great place to stargaze at night. We did check out the hot tub on the last morning, and I was very disappointed that it was hardly warm. The rooms come with a unique selection of snacks for purchase, but I was shocked to see they were charging $4 for the packet of instant coffee next to the kettle. I'm glad I noticed they were charging for that, because I would've assumed it was free. No chance that's worth it. There was decent coffee available in the lobby for free. When looking at a map, it showed it was only a 10-15 minute walk into the main stretch of town, so we planned to walk daily. Unfortunately, there is just enough distance on the road between the hotel and the downtown where there is no sidewalk, to a point where we felt it would be unsafe to walk at night. So we had to drive 2 minutes down the road instead. If they were able to create a path with a street lamp or two, that would make a huge difference! The staff was incredibly nice and I was glad they were able to help out with anything we needed! I did find it a bit odd that the hotel is only staffed 8AM-10PM. It's not small enough to justify such limited staff hours in my opinion, and I had never encountered that before.

Handrails also provide security in the dark and rain. It was so quiet and peaceful. I felt completely safe and secure. No traffic or airplane noise. No TV! Apart from offering an equally bad room the next day (after the smell had started to wane), removing the refrigerator and replacing our towels, there was essentially no effort to make this right. Staff explained door keys often fail if they're placed near a cell phone -- as though that is normal! I booked a month ahead, and I want to stress that this was with the front desk, not with an outside travel agency. Confirmation of the price was sent to me via email. In April, I checked in and paid at the price they gave me and confirmed in writing. When I got home from my trip, there was an extra $50 dollars charged to my card. When I inquired as to the added charge, they simply said that I was undercharged for the room, that they had mistakenly given me the wrong price. However, I stressed that the price I paid was the price that they had agreed to. Also, they never mentioned anything about undercharging me when I paid for the room; it was only after I returned home that they took the liberty of charging me extra. This didn't matter to manager Jennifer. This is very unprofessional, and simply put, just a stupid and unethical thing to do from a business point of view. It appears that they have financial problems: the sink in my room was plugged and the mattress is old; also oddly, there is no one on the premises until 3pm and no one there in the early morning, so does that mean that they have no night clerk? They cut corners and overcharge customers that are not regulars. This is low-class, third world treatment in an upscale town. In my opinion, new management is in order if they want to stay in business.
