Great experience at Casa Ojai Inn! I've actually been staying here for about 20 years, and I really appreciate the new manager, Larry. I will say that some rooms tend to be a bit darker since one side of the building has very small windows, and I'm not a fan of the corner rooms that face a wall. The plumbing is older and can be a little finicky, and the AC/heater units are definitely on the louder, older side. That said, the overall value for the price is still great compared to other places in Ojai. The pool and spa are super nice and relaxing, and I love that they offer bikes for rent--Ojai is such a perfect place to bike around. I'd recommend it and will definitely come again. read more

We stayed one night over Labor Day weekend (Sunday-Monday) in a two-queen room. The rooms are very dated, though clean. The staff, however, was extremely unaccommodating. The day before checkout, we asked for a late checkout and were told 12:00 noon would be fine at no extra charge. Yet on the morning of checkout, staff knocked on our door at 9:30 a.m. to "confirm" if we still wanted late checkout -- even though regular checkout isn't until 11:00 a.m. When I went to the lobby to speak with the so-called manager (who looked barely 21), I was told checkout at 1:00 p.m. would cost $30, with an additional $30 per hour up to 3:00 p.m. After 3:00 p.m., the charge would be the full nightly rate of $207. By the time I returned after discussing with my partner, the pricing had changed again. At that point, we decided to leave and checked in next door at the Hummingbird Inn -- where the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and updated, and the pool area was great. (for the room, minus one star for my disappearance) Overall, Casa Ojai Inn was fine. Cute property, relaxed Ojai vibes, nothing wild... until checkout, when I apparently became a ghost. I went out of my way to be polite and responsible and return the room key in person. I walk up to the front desk. I stand there. I make eye contact. I smile. I wait. And I am completely ignored. Not "we'll be right with you." Not a nod. Not even the classic "one moment." Just full-on you do not exist energy. I genuinely started wondering if I was invisible. Like... can they not see me? Did I slip into another dimension? Is this some kind of silent retreat I accidentally signed up for? Eventually, I had to speak up just to hand over the key, which felt awkward considering I was already standing directly in front of them holding it like a normal human being. It's a small thing, but it left a weird final impression. A quick acknowledgment goes a long way, especially at checkout when guests are literally just trying to do the right thing. My son and I have been staying at Casa Ojai Inn for over a year, since we evacuated from the Eaton Fire in January 2025. We've had a wonderful experience here! The staff have been unfailingly helpful and kind, and I feel that they genuinely care about how we are. It is a calm and beautiful place to be, with a nice swimming pool, jacuzzi, views of two mountain ranges, plenty of surrounding trees, flowers, and smells of lemon blossoms part of the year. The room is larger than what we stayed in at two other hotels prior to coming here, including one more upscale hotel. It's simple but refreshing, with easy access to lots of downtown services and events just a mile away. It feels like staying in the country with town benefits. I especially like that nothing smells of the toxic chemicals a lot of other hotels routinely use. Considering all the stressors in the situation of being evacuated from our home due to a natural calamity, this has been a godsend. People feel sorry for me when they hear I've been living in a hotel, but because of the staff and the ease of being here it's been a far better experience than it would have been. We will always be grateful to Casa Ojai! read more

The room was spacious , clean and had nice furniture. The bed was very comfortable. The surroundings were very quiet. The manager, Kaylee, was polite, charming and full of good humor. We had some issues with the new TV and she was knowledgeable and helpful. The main reason for 4/5 is because the TV is very difficult to figure out with no instructions in the room. Our stay here was wonderful. For me, having the room be clean is priority and our room was definitely clean. The towels may not be fluffy but they were clean. The walls may be thin and not smooth but the room was clean. The bed sheets were clean and so were the pillows. We booked the two queen room suite and loved the extra space. I also liked that we got the room next to the office. We had two little boys and it felt safer. There is no extra fluff to the rooms but what you do get is good. read more

In follow up to my review above, q manager called me after the disastrous customer service received and apologized, refunded, and assured me this was not the way Casa Ojai treated prospective guests. As we began planing another trip this winter, I thought perhaps I should reconsider and rebook, as well as remove my review and give them another chance. Then they jumped in to reassure (in response to my review) that they still blamed me and wanted to argue with me about the weather and that the earthquake that yes, karmically, hit them after the horrendous storm just to drive home my point! I stayed at this hotel for two nights, visiting Ojai with friends. Everything was great and comfortable.

Decent hotel located close to town. Ojai has a great bike trail that runs though the town and this hotel offers bikes to rent free for guests. You must check them out at the front desk. Front desk manager was friendly. Spa and pool are heated and my kids really enjoyed both. Rooms are clean and comfy. Walls can be a bit thin, so turning in the HVAC fan will create a nice quiet sleep at night. Shampoo, soap & conditioner dispenser mounted in the shower offers a more earth friendly alternative to all those tiny plastic bottle that guest end up taking home. No restroom located close to the pool. Also no continental breakfast. Decent place to relax and stay. read more

This is Ojai on a budget. Casa Ojai is, for what it is, very cute. Suburban Spanish-style architecture. A nice, heated pool and spa, framed by a comfortable pool area with gas fire pit. Keurigs in the rooms. Comfortable, firm queen size mattresses. An easy walk into town for all the hipster food Ojai has to offer. Very clean and relatively new inside the rooms. Cute patios out in front of some of the rooms. Decent wifi. It's not perfect, so if you're looking for a frictionless Ojai experience, spend more money. It's right next to the highway, and walls are thin, so you can hear traffic passing by and your neighbor flushing their toilet at 2AM. No breakfast. It's a cute motel, but at its heart, it's just that -- a motel. Under ordinary circumstances I'd give this place four stars. Why two? Because I was stranded outside of my room for almost an hour in a state of relative undress. I went out for a run at 6:30am, and when I returned at 7am, my key had stopped working. I went over to the office and it was locked, with a sign on the front that says "Closed from 9pm-8am." The "emergency" phone number went to a voicemail. So, there I stood in my gym shorts, on a sinking ship with no captain, radio, or lifeboats. Whaaaat? Eventually the housekeepers showed up to work in their Chevy truck, and I successfully begged them in Spanish to let me into my room. I got a call five hours later from the office asking what they could help me with. This is a HUGE operational blind spot that this place needs to fix ASAP. NO HOTEL should allow a guest to get helplessly locked out of their room. Not even a $30 per hour, bring-your-own-sheets No-Tell Motel would allow this to happen. read more

Nice little get away from LA. Walking distance from town and everyone seems really nice here. They loaned be their bike to run an errand. Parking looks right but there's lots of space around the back. Our room did smell of cloreen but overall I enjoyed this cosy little cottage. read more

So I walked down to office and they came up to change the bed. By the time I turned it down again there was no top sheet. Too late office closed. I had to stay 2 nights and they never fixed my bed or bring up the ozone machine I requested. They also charge you for amnesties whether you drink their crummy bottled water and cheap pack of snacks. I almost hate to write this review because I don't want the best kept secret in Ojai to get out....but I love this place so much I have to sing its praises. We live in Santa Barbara and take little 'staycations' to Ojai JUST to stay at this little spot. Beautiful pool, nice hot tub, high quality rental bikes and comfortable rooms within walking distance of town...what's not to love!? The staff is always super kind and the rooms are very clean. My only complaint...I wish they would bring back the cookies/coffee/breakfast. Covid restrictions are lifted enough now that most hotels have all their amenities back....hoping Casa Ojai follows suit soon. That would be the icing on the cake :) read more

Extremely disappointed with the service. We have been staying here almost exclusively when my husband golf's nearby. Today was checkout and I called the front desk to ask for a late checkout which I would have gladly paid for. I was informed they could not offer it due to the hotel being completely booked tonight. I went to their website and there are at least 5 types of rooms available tonight. The front desk lady blatantly lied to me which is unacceptable. I will never be back, I will stay in nearby Ventura at either the Crowne Plaza or Marriott where I have never had a bad experience in all my years. Over my 2 night stay the room never saw any type of service, why bother??? Though the woman working the front desk was very nice, and the pool was salt water, everything else about this place is mediocre motel (perfumery soap/thin towels/lumpy pillows) except for the price, which was deluxe resort. 350 a night plus 10 dollars for a cot that has been in service seemingly since the Korean War. It was all springs, like a cartoon bed. Only when we folded it up did we see the coppery stains all over the bottom of it. Blood, urine, coffee? Who knows? All I know is that the Casa needs to improve their amenities or lower their prices. read more

When we first arrived to the inn, we felt very welcoming. The parking area was spacious and pretty quiet around this inn. There was a pool and a jacuzzi by the entry. The staff there were super nice and friendly. However, the room itself was so-so. First, we spotted some light black stains/marks on the top of the duvet, then the light wasn't turning on properly. After we got back from dinner, we found a few bugs on the bed. We switched to another room; glad all apparatuses worked fine, but the floor squeaks, the toilet got clogged when we flushed down the toilet paper. read more

Room was a good size; AC and wifi worked really well. Ample and brightly lit parking. There is a keurig coffeemaker, separate sink area, fridge, safe, iron and board. They provide 2 bottled waters and free tasting at Ojai Beverage company. Use of bike with basket , helmet is included. Not very close to the main strip but who cares if there's free parking all over the small charming town. The afternoon cookies were wonderful and chewy! Breakfast wasn't appetizing though. Casa Ojai is a traditional motor court hotel, with two floors of basic rooms looking out onto a parking lot. Their accommodating service and flexibility, however, will raise your stay to the next level. For a small surcharge, you can bring your dogs (provided they remain with you at all times). You're also less than a mile from everything residential Ojai has to offer...bars, restaurants, sage. Ojai is not an inexpensive valley to visit but the Casa has reasonable rates around $118 a night in Spring. Breakfast and parking are included, although I wouldn't expect magic from waffle mix and scrambled eggs. Just down the block, the Ojai Rancho has more Southwestern character and a cute on-site bar, but you'll pay extra for the eclectic buzz. I was initially nervous about bringing my dogs here, but many local eateries--The Nest, Ojai Brewing, etc.--allow dogs on their heated patios. The managers are both kind and patient with frazzled guests--just a few minutes away for repairs and billing questions. All told, a solid, middling choice for Ojai visitors who'd rather be out on the trails. read more

When my boyfriend and I go to Ojai, this is where we always stay. The location is great. This hotel is reasonably priced since all hotels in Ojai are pricey. If you want more savings, there's a AAA discount or online deals like Groupon offered. In our recent trip, we took advantage of the Living Social deal which was 50% off and included a bottle of wine and two wine tastings nearby. They're clean, cozy, and eco friendly rooms. There's continental breakfast served each morning. It's just what we need since we don't stay in our hotel room all day. The staff is very nice and accommodating. So if you don't have an Ojai Valley Inn & Spa budget and just want to enjoy a nice trip to Ojai, then I recommend staying here. Such an awesome inn, check-in was a breeze and when we discovered we forgot our toothbrushes, they happily provided us with some. Room was very quiet and comfortable. There is a tv with direct tv in the room, nice opaque shutters to keep the light out, and comfy beds. Great breakfast with bacon and eggs, excellent coffee. Stayed here the night before my wedding and it was awesome! Got the room with 2 queen sized beds and in hopes that the rooms were big enought for about 10 of us to get ready and they were! We weren't cramped and the beds were comfy! In a great location us girls went downtown drinking the night before and everything was close enough to walk and our venue the next day was super close also! My husband and I have been coming here for years. We love the staff. It looks like a motel 6 but once you're inside it is a lovely clean place. However we were disappointed with our recent stay because the bed mattresses are old and need to be replaced. They are not the quality they have been in the past. We both had back aches. Also the Keurig coffee makers in the rooms make the worst coffee we have ever experienced! I hope they make those changes and we'll be looking forward to coming back! read more

My in-laws stay here EVERY time they visit, unless (very rarely) Casa Ojai is full. They love it and as such I've spent a bit of time here too. The staff is friendly and professional and the rooms are always clean and well maintained. They feel modern and comfortable. I haven't slept on the beds but they're easy to rest on and I appreciate that the rooms have mini fridges. The front desk also bakes fresh chocolate chip cookies for their guests. A highlight for my mother-in-law and me! They have a pool and are conveniently located just outside the main part of town, as you drive out towards the mountains. Driveway has a steep entrance so be careful or you'll scrape your car. Quiet area. Even though it's next to a fast road, the road isn't particularly busy so it's not noisy. I highly recommend this as a place to stay in Ojai! read more

You fell into a hole just sitting on the edge. Requested new room but inn was full. Worst night sleep x3. Had to pay extra nightly fee for WIFI (unsecured) site and COVID cleaning after breakfast was discontinued. Spending over $200 a night there should not have been additional costs. The jacuzzi was nice first night and next 2 was not hot. Bikes included was a plus unfortunately staying for a wedding didn't get to use. Unfortunately no discount was offered. This was our first family vacation since COVID, and I was looking forward to having a great time. I thought that the price was steep for a motel-like setting with limited amenities, but was happy to support a local business. The first issue was the shower. We walked in and the water was full-on running (not dripping) from the shower faucet. I literally had to move the shower handle for a minute or so to get the water to turn off. That is abhorrent especially since CA is in drought. Even then, I didn't report it to the front desk because I just wanted to relax, and have a great time. I took my son to the pool, and when we got back to shower realized that there was only either cold water or SCALDING HOT water due to the faulty shower lever. I managed to shower my son at that point. When I went to the front desk to ask them to repair it, they TRIED to gaslight the problem, as if it was user error. There were no apologies, nothing. I asked to be moved, but they were unwilling to move us to a room with one bed and a roll-away, even though I specifically paid for a room with two queen beds. The manager came in to fix the shower, so we decided to eat our dinner at our outdoor patio so we can socially distance. He was there for almost 30 minutes! There was no sign from management to give us a discount for their failure on the most basic level. That first night, as we unfurled our duvets to prepare to sleep, I noticed blood splatter on not one, but both duvets! It was after the front desk closed, so we couldn't get new ones without it being a big hassle. So we slept under thin sheets that, at that point, we were unsure were clean. The very next morning, I walked the duvets to the front desk where the attendant agreed that it was disgusting. She asked housekeeping to get us new ones, which they did. I waited for them to make it right by offering us a discount on our room. NOTHING. The morning we were checking out, I finally addressed the problem with the front desk person. The manager subjected me to my SECOND experience of gaslighting by saying that it was impossible that there was blood splattered on the duvets because he inspects the rooms himself. I showed him the pictures I took, thank goodness. At that point, he proceeded to ask us if the problem was resolved. I said yes, eventually. Then he asked if it affected our stay negatively. I said yes, because we were cold that very first night. Then he proceeded to offer me only a discount of $25 for only the first night. He said that I was already getting a discounted rate, so he couldn't give me a better offer. FYI, I paid $150 and $180 for the nights we stayed. That is hardly a discounted rate for a glorified MOTEL. At most, this establishment is only worth $90. I have stayed at better chain motels, with a little less condescension. read more

They are very professional and very mindful of being safe during this time. You can check in online through an email or text. The place is very quiet. The room was very spacious and clean and there is plenty of parking. There is an additional parking lot behind one of the buildings, too. One big plus for me was the immediate hot water that would come out when we needed to shower. Checkout was very simple, I could either return the keys to the lobby or just leave them in my room, which we did. I would love to return! read more

Do not stay here if you want to get any sleep and relaxation. The walls and floors are so thin. You can hear the neighbor's toilet flush, their AC unit on, water from the shower and sink, even the sound from the light switch. I requested top floor but didn't get it.
