This is a delightful little hotel. We are staying in the Cardinal room and it is thoughtfully decorated and well provisioned. All the rooms are suites and seem well spaced out. The location doesn't get any better in Ojai as it sits about a block from the main strip. Our room has a lovely sitting area and the courtyard is tasteful and lovely. It is definitely pricey, but Ojai in general is pretty pricey right now as it serves as a nearby getaway for many communities of home bound Coronavirus battlers. It also doesn't have its own pool, which is not really clear on the website. You can use the pool at their sister hotel, but it's a bit far to walk and one of the best things about Ojai is that one doesn't need to drive anywhere. read more

Cozy, quant and quiet would best describe our recent stay at Su Nido (and our several prior stays there!). It was easy to relax in the guest-only courtyard that is encircled by the rooms/suites themselves. The main business district is fun and easily walkable but the hotel is tucked away about 2 blocks off of the busy main drag keeping the traffic noise to a minimum. Rooms are (again) cozy and well appointed. After hours arrival was executed seamlessly with key access as arranged. Manager Larry greeted us on the grounds during our stay. My husband and I recently stayed in the Sparrow Room at Su Nido Inn. The room was quiet, and the bed and linens were exquisite. The vaulted ceiling and beams made the room feel elegant and spacious. The Molten Brown bath and body products in the bath felt indulgent. The entire property is simply lovely with it's clay tile roofs and stucco finishes. My favorite touch was the Spanish tile on the risers going up to our room which overlooked the courtyard and the jaw-dropping, arched wooden door. At night we shared a bottle of chilled, local Chardonnay in the courtyard while relaxing to the sound of trickling water in the fountain. The twinkle lights in the trees created a charming fairytale ambiance. Ojai is a gorgeous getaway location and the Su Nido Inn is the perfect place to stay while in town. On this trip we enjoyed visiting the nearby missions, Soule Park Golf Course , and the tasting Ojai Food Tour. We will be back. read more

Due to covid there is no staff on the property, we had to go to their sister hotel to book the room and check in. Nonetheless, the help was very friendly. Beautiful room (stayed in the Peacock sweet) with fireplace. Cozy feel all around. Everything is in walking distance as well. Two big negatives for me: 1) The shower was lukewarm at best, not a big fan of cold showers. 2) WiFi is super spotty. I hate to sound like a "diva", but for $400 a night I expect basic amenities to work perfectly. read more

I would honestly give 3.5 stars, but I will round up due to the incredibly convenient location. This spot might be the best place to stay in downtown Ojai! The "main drag," as they call it, is two short blocks away and the surrounding area is quiet and very cute. I know hotel stays are tough during COVID, but there were so many little issues that cumulatively made elements of our stay problematic. We let them know we were coming in to celebrate our 20 year anniversary; no mention of that at all. Not a huge deal, but even just a "Happy Anniversary" on the envelope we had to retrieve with our room key would have been nice. The Condor Suite is one of the two rooms that isn't inside the gated courtyard, which did make us feel a bit exposed (not that Ojai isn't safe); it also means that our terrace looks out onto the parking lot, not full of ambience. Also, no housekeeping during this time, so we're taking out our own trash and trying to ration the coffee (it wasn't all that good, so it wasn't too difficult). We also had some issues with things in the room not working properly (or at all). We had to spend about an hour or so texting back and forth with the person on staff (since their office is 100% closed the entire time; there is literally no one on staff. they are at their 'sister' property) about the wifi. It was pretty clear on our end that they needed to reset the router; hard to do with no one on staff, lol! Eventually, someone came by and he basically took both our phones and our tablet and inputted his password so we could be on the private wifi, rather than the hotel wifi. A couple of the windows didn't open; the lighted makeup mirror in the bathroom was broken, we did not have any dish soap in the room to wash any of the glasses or cups, the fridge was perpetually freezing liquid (even after turning it down), and the bathtub could not draw hot water, even though the bathroom sink water was scalding. The decor was cute (though the room is certainly way smaller than the pictures suggest) and the gas fireplace on a timer was a nice touch. I think the thing that made it so frustrating is that it was not a cheap room. At around $300/night, we need the amenities you promise to actually work, not to mention some of the other offered amenities that are entirely unclear (how is there pool or hot tub access? there isn't one on site and no one is there to explain it. what are the specials a hotel guest can get at the Ojai Day Spa? again, no one is there to explain any of that). Overall, I guess this wasn't what we were looking for to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. read more

We spent one night at Su Nido for Mr R's birthday. We thought it was a good way to try out a small B&B type of hotel and see if its something we'd like to do for multiple nights in the future. Su Nido was beautiful and features a gorgeous courtyard. The rooms were so comfortable and large. They are really like small apartments - even including all the little, tasteful decorations. We had a little bookshelf in our suite that had little frames, birds, wooden games, etc on it. Many nice little amenities such as the Molton Brown toiletries and snacks/drinks in the room. WiFi is included, however it was very slow and would drop in certain rooms of the suite. The property is very nicely located and you can walk easily to shopping and many restaurants. It wasn't a particularly warm reception. Considering there were only 2 other couples staying at the property that night, you'd expect something more welcoming than, "Checking in? Last name?" Oh! Hello to you too! Overall, Mr R loved the place much more than I did. I still did very much enjoy it and after checking out another Ojai property next time, I would return to Su Nido. read more

I've stayed here for several years. A friend and I would come to Ojai once a year. It was a charming place and we loved the innkeeper. We ended up staying other places the last few years because of availability. This year we came back to Su Nido. We were very disappointed. There was no housekeeping. Two coffees and bad creamer! We had to call for more towels and coffee. The sink didn't drain well and they never fixed it. We will go back to The Lavender Inn or The Hummingbird Inn. read more

The service was friendly and efficient - they suggested so many great things to go do and see, including helpful maps and brochures. Yes, great location for walking in town, but the shower floor and door was not clean and at these prices they did not even come to make the bed, much less clean the room! Spent a week here for something work related. This quaint little 12 room spot allowed me some ambiguity while the rest of the group stayed at the colossal (yet beautiful) resort and used their free time for golf - borrrring. I arrived here on a Sunday afternoon and it was so peaceful. I was shown to my suite and told there were bikes available to borrow. Awww:) The awesome view and adorable decor in my apartment-style suite, along with the yummy snacks and tea and coffee made me want to stay forever. I wasn't able to make any of the poolside yoga sessions offered at their sister property but I had my travel mat and plenty of room on the tile in front of my living room fireplace. The good: Su nido Inn is located behind the old town, it's easy to walk over to the restaurants/supermarkets. It's very quiet. The staff are friendly Nice toiletries They topped the snacks and the fruit juice/water everyday. The fireplace is very useful during the winter time. Comfy bed, it's firm, yet very fluffy. The maid is doing an excellent job. The cons: "Norma, are you home? Where are you, motherrrrr?" The room looks old. Bates motel-ish style from the inside. The classic vanity sets, the jewelry box with birds/flowers in the bed room and bath room, the round wall, shower transfer bench and tons of stainless steel grab bar makes you thinks you just enter a senior nursing home. I had to turn floor mirror with wooden frame onto the other side, because it looks really freaky. there is no place to hang your cloth, the closet in the bed room is a tv stand and that's the only closet in the entire room. There is no place to hang your clothing at all in the entire house. There is not much space to put shower gel/shampoo in the shower as well. The fan in the bathroom sounded like mini helicopter and the heater sounded loud too. There is price tag on everything. Slippers, the bathrobes and hand soap/lotion all comes with a price tag. I didn't want to use the slippers in the beginning, because they charge it for 4 dollars a pair, I'm not so sure whether the price is for sell or to use it. It's very confusion and it's also disgusting to know, even your slippers looks new, but they are recycle from other people, the slippers aren't open toe, so I wonder how clean are they. In the end, I used my own slipper. You will get street view or courtyard view. Courtyard is charming, but tiny. The gardener works constantly in the courtyard, you might want to closed your curtains for the privacy. You may want to closed the curtain in the living room or bed room as well, because it has a street view and the windows are literally right on the street. When you closed the curtains from the both side, the room become very dark. The curtain in the bed room is very thin, the room is bright around 6am. The gardener came back around 8-9am and start to use the leaf blower/vacuum. It's loud and too early. Don't even try to call them for the service. "Sorry, we can't pick up the phone right now and our voice message is full, please call some other time" The staff was inside the office, there were nobody else there, she just don't want to pick up the phone, so all the calls goes to a useless voice message. She is friendly when we walkover to the office and ask her directly what we need. What happens if you need service after 3/5pm? There is toaster/microwave/coffee machine(Keurig) in the kitchen, but they have little utensils and everything comes in two sets only, they don't provide dish washing and sponge, even tho the maid will help you to clean the dishes, but she will only come once a day. read more

Just came back from a 3 day stay this past President's Day Weekend. The bf and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and it was just what we needed. Not too far a drive from LA but far enough to not have to deal with the sights and sounds of big bad LA. I loved every minute of it here. Check-in was quick and easy. The innkeeper was as sweet and friendly as could be and I couldn't ask for anything more. She was informative gave us maps to the local shops, eateries, and ideas for activities to do during the day. The weather was perfect. It was nice and cool during the day and a bit chilly at night. The bf and I made great use of the fireplace in our room at night. What a delight!! I never used a fireplace before. It was a very relaxing weekend. We stayed in the Heron Suite and had access to the only jacuzzi on the grounds(woohoo! achy muscles begone!) and on top of that we had our own little deck to soak in the sun, drink some wine, and just relax. The king size bed gave me the opportunity to sleep diagonally and not kick or hit bf as always. I am seriously still smiling from the experience there. It was great. Maybe next time, I'll go for the day spa and massage but considering that we spent a lot of time just walking around and enjoying the sounds(hear that? exactly. silence!) there might not be a need for it. BF and I didn't use much of the internet or rent dvds like everyone else so I can't say much there. We pretty much just laid low and enjoyed the time here - On top of that, we rarely saw our neighbors or people in the complex so thumbs up. Private time for all! This is a beautiful property and just a couple minutes walk to shops and restaurants . We were excited when we arrived to see how nice and what a great location, but issues started immediately..no cleaning, a rat, keys not working. There is no office on site, but is a mile down the road at their sister property, Casa Ojai. We rented a suite and two rooms for 8 nights, with one of the rooms that will connect. Our keys were left in the late arrival box, but we couldn't get into the one connecting room. They dropped of the keys at 10:30 pm, but they didn't work, so we couldn't even get into that room the first night. No offer to credit us for that. Then the third night, we had a rat in the hood over the stove and it was trying to get through the hood filter into the room. We called and they came down, but were unable to get it. They draped a plastic bag over the filter opening and said they would send maintenance down in the morning. Well, the rat got through and we had to trap it before we could go to bed. They did come the next morning and cleaned the stove and kitchen area and said they would let the owner know, we never heard from the owner and issues continued for the remainder of the week. Keys stopped working to open rooms 4 different times during stay, Rooms should have been cleaned every 3 days. We had to ask after 4 days, and they didn't even go into one of the rooms, against day 6, I had to ask for cleaning service again, and they never came for a 2nd cleaning. Finally, the night before we left, we were locked out of our room again, so I went to their sister property to get keys and complain again. They said owner would call within 30 minutes. No call, just an email apologizing and jokingly thanking us for catching the rat, and offering to waive our amenity fee and 25% off next visit, I insisted on a call. He seemed to have excuses for most of it and said he had to discuss all of this with his staff and would get back with me. Well, no call, just an email itemizing all our issues and his interpretation of them, as if he were discussing all of this with his staff. He offered to refund the one night that we had to catch the rat, which was one of the cheaper nights and $200 off for the lack of cleaning and the key issues. This is what he thought was appropriate after our spending $6,200 for our stay, and he hasn't bothered to respond to my email or call me. I really wanted to like this place and be understanding, but I will never be back mainly because of the owner's attitude and handling of this. read more

Came here for a relaxing weekend getaway. Very charming, artsy little country inn with luxury amenities and designer touches inside and out...kind of like the town itself. Early check-in 12pm no problem thanks to innkeeper Michael, a most pleasant and accommodating fellow. Also beware the place requires 2 nights mininum (again waived by Michael in my case). PROS: All 7 suites in 'Su Nido' (Your Nest') named after birds -- Peacock, Condor, Raven, etc. and I LOVE birds. Exceedingly comfortable living room chairs and ottoman in my Robin Suite (only a couple of suites have a sofa/loveseat so be sure to ask if that's important to you). Decorative electric/gas fireplace 2 large LCD TVs with built-in DVD player Separate shower / deep tub Feather-soft bed Soothing interior paint colors and lighting scheme 5 minute walk to downtown, Libby Park, farmers' market. Free DVD library for inn residents CONS: Lots of night traffic noise if you leave windows open to let in fresh mountain air, but near complete silence if closed. Pretty fireplace is all show and puts out little heat. Pricey but you get what you pay for FINAL CAVEAT: Call for availability. Online sources (Kayak, Hotwire, even the hotel's own website) will tell you it's not available on your requested dates. In my case, I called anyway and two suites *happened* to be available for 1 night only. So ALWAYS call. Definitely will come back, but get a suite in a quiet corner. read more

The Su Nido Inn was incredible! We stayed for one night while visiting family. Our room was very clean and cozy with a fireplace, soaking tub and an amazingly comfortable bed. The location was perfect. Walking distance to downtown restaurants and bars. We used the on-site bikes the next morning to ride to breakfast and then out toward the East End to check out the fantastic views. One of the best places we've ever stayed! No complaints at all! I can't speak to "my stay" because my husband tested positive for COVID and we were unable to make the trip. I called ASAP (30 hours prior to check-in). Instead of their understanding we were charged $340.00+ for the first night of our stay. I understand hotels have cancellation policies, but in this case, the decision was not ours. We were not permitted to fly nor travel. You would think the hotel would have more of an understanding (we all lived through the same pandemic, right?). Instead, the their supervisor informed me the cancellation policy "did not make exceptions for COVID." So not only did we miss our best-friends wedding, but we also were slapped with $340.00+ for an unoccupied room. To be clear, their cancellation policy states that reservations must be cancelled by 3:00 PM two (2) days prior to the arrival date... convenient they don't also add - No exceptions, even "COVID is welcome here." Apparently it is frowned upon to follow CDC guidelines. Just something to keep in mind prior to booking... read more

It's Spanish inspired architecture matches the artistic and eclectic vibe of Ojai. The staff were outstanding! They also have bikes for free to rent out during the day to explore the downtown area. Our first time staying at the Su Nido and couldn't have been a better experience. We stayed in the Blue Jay Suite and it was great. We will for sure stay here on our next trip. To start, the receptionist took us on a quick tour of the property and our room. She was very helpful in explaining the various amenities which include a small kitchenette area with a refrigerator stocked with 3 bottles of water and 3 cans of juice. This is a simple and inexpensive touch that many other hotels need to take into consideration. I can't believe how it's come to the point of most hotels charging for bottled water. Also, they had two pods each of coffee, decaf and tea for the Keurig - as well as several varieties of granola/breakfast bars - and yes all FREE! The rooms have a living room area w/ fireplace that contain a sofa and lounge chair. The living room opens to a patio containing a table and chairs. Behind the sofa is a nice size desk and small round dining table with chairs. The kitchenette area is on the wall across from the dining table, with a walkway into the bathroom and bedroom area. The bathroom is very large with a large walk-in shower, sink and small makeup station w/ a chair. The bedroom is around the corner from the bathroom and it includes a cabinet with a tv inside and several drawers for clothes. There's another small desk/chair area (this desk is more like a makeup station that's in the bathroom). I believe the property has 10 suites with all but one opening to a large courtyard with a fountain and several patio table/chair sets with umbrellas. Entrance to the property and courtyard is secure as there are two large metal gates as entrances/exits to this courtyard with each opening with your room key. The property is located about 1 1/2 small blocks from downtown. If you look on the map these blocks consist of only a few buildings - you're basically just off the main street where you'll spend a majority of your time shopping, eating and drinking. We stayed here for new years and were very excited. However, a couple of days after leaving we saw a charge for $50 on our card. We called and were informed it was for the 2 soaps that were missing from the room... That we didn't take. After us pleading with them telling them we didn't take the soaps, they said "we're not calling you liars, but the cleaning lady reports missing items". The cleaning lady whom we tipped, mind you. They assured us they would investigate and call us back. We never heard from them again. Side note, we picked a movie from their DVD library. After we got back from dinner the movie wasn't in the room, and the office was conveniently closed. We resorted to renting the movie online since we had gotten excited to see it, but it took 4rs to download due to their slower-than-dial-up wireless. Never going back, never recommending. They would rather take and keep $50, while tarnishing their name, instead of providing good customer service. read more

Great little place to stay. Beautiful architecture. Loved how close it was to everything! We would definitely stay there again. IMPORTANT ADVICE: If you've selected a particular room/suite in advance and obtain written confirmation of that particular room/suite, pick up the phone and call them to confirm! Our choice of suite was switched without any explanation 'why', no advance notice or written confirmation of such. They opted to let us know right at check-in. We were sooo bummed because we had done so much research online and selected the suite we wanted for a reason! This is a horrible and hope it isn't their standard business practice. This lovely inn was deserted mid-week, so we had this oasis of calm to ourselves. Very clean, well-maintained, and a great location. We especially loved the colorful Spanish tiling in the courtyard, and shower. Comfortable, firm bed and luxurious linens. The Keurig coffee-maker in the room, and Molton Brown products were a nice touch, as was the ceiling fan, and screened windows for a cool cross-breeze at night. There is an ice machine (great) and snack machine (?!) in the courtyard. Su Nido is a few minutes' walk to shops, restaurants, and the quaint arcade, where we happened upon a fantastic, soulful three-piece band. The only negative was Su Nido's personnel--the same woman from reservation to checking in/out. She was not personable or friendly on the phone, and upon check-in neither greeted nor welcomed me, and didn't thank us for our business, as we departed. We'll definitely return to the town of Ojai. But darn it, that distinct lack of hospitality and appreciation, will keep us from returning to the Su Nido Inn. read more

This is my second time staying at Su Nido. Very nice. Spacious room, lots of little snacks and water, plus good coffee in the room. It's peaceful and private. I didn't hear any of the neighbors. It was walking distance to all the local restaurants and wine-tasting rooms. Trilby was the concierge. She gave me lots of tips on where to go and where to eat. It will definitely be the next place I stay when visiting Ojai. read more
