We came on a Saturday early afternoon and started at one of their restaurants. The food was amazing, but service was definitely on the slower side. The resort is huge and has so many activities tennis, golf, bike rentals and more. After that, we headed over to the spa and spent the rest of the day relaxing by the pool. The vibe was so calm, mostly women just chatting, unwinding, and enjoying each other in this peaceful little paradise. We ordered smoothies poolside and omg...so fresh and refreshing. Service at the spa pool was great, everyone seemed to be working together seamlessly and checking in often without being overbearing. Definitely one of those spots I'd come back to anytime I need a reset from LA.

It took a long time to receive our food we had to ask for refills and rolls. People that arrived after us received their food in a more timely manner. The food wasn't that exciting! Normally the menu is so inspiring I found it to be generic. In the reservation I mentioned it was my sister's bday nothing was done or acknowledged. The bathrooms needed servicing even another guest mentioned it. I'm really so sad normally this is my go to place! The grounds were beautiful as always. The shuttle driver was a very attentive & kind young man I'd give him 5 stars. I give it a maybe because I know they can be better I've experienced it several times before. Hopefully just an off day. Additionally, the check-in process was notably efficient and friendly, setting a welcoming tone. However, several areas presented challenges during our visit. Firstly, the persistent noise emanating from the downstairs bar was a considerable disturbance, making it difficult to achieve restful sleep throughout the night. Our room offered a partial view of the beach from inside, there's a balcony with chairs to hang out at. We discovered that multiple electrical outlets, particularly those conveniently located at the center and bedside tables, were non-operational, which proved to be a significant inconvenience for charging devices. The air conditioning unit's vent was positioned too close to one of the beds, creating an uneven distribution of cool air and preventing proper circulation across the entire room. It also became apparent that the room's layout, despite being a 2-Queen bed configuration designed for up to four people, felt cramped and better suited for a single King-sized bed, as evidenced by the lack of adequate space and amenities such as only one luggage stand. The bathroom also presented its own set of issues. The bathtub drained remarkably slowly, which was both unhygienic and inconvenient. We also noted the absence of sufficient amenities, with only one hook available for towels or garments, and a semi-transparent door that offered inadequate privacy. Finally, there are the additional costs associated with what we typically consider standard hotel services. The requirement for paid parking, whether the $10/day self-parking option in a dimly-lit adjacent public building or the $18/day valet service, added expenses to our budget. Similarly, the lack of complimentary water bottles and the paid breakfast option, while not uncommon, detracted from the perceived value of the stay.

There was also complimentary breakfast that was delivered to our room. The only downside that I found was our room was underneath the staircase and could get noisy when trying to sleep in. There is a table right at the window so you can enjoy dining/reading/sitting with an incredible and private VIEW! This time we got the only accommodation that has TWO rooms-- so it felt like a small apartment without a kitchen! It's extra spacious and allowed everyone to have their privacy. The rooms are SUPER cute! Yes, the furniture is old. Yes, it looks like grandma's house. But from someone who has stayed in luxury resorts most of the time, these charming and timeless rooms have a special place in my heart. I'm not even sure if this makes sense, but the ambiance welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel right at home. It truly feels like I came to grandmas house. It feels so familiar and I know for a fact, staying here is healing my inner child each time. We all know the views are absolutely incredible-- I mean... breakfast buffet overlooking the cliffs AND you can watch surfers and dolphins in the distance while you enjoy your food? Can't get better than that. You can go visit the shore during low tide or walk over to the pier that leads to an island! This hotel is tucked away from the city and I absolutely love the seclusion. Although it's right next to the highway, staying here feels like stepping into a peaceful parallel universe-- the world still moves on the other side of the wall, but you're suspended in your own quiet, dreamlike bubble until it's time to return to reality. The service is too notch! She has gone out of her way to accommodate us and never made any request feel like it was too much or an inconvenience. If you thought this place couldn't get any better, it DOES-- they have a Restaurant that serves lunch and dinner!!! Let me stop before I write a novel. This has literally become my favorite hotel.

There is a popular and excellent restaurant that is open to the public. It's just over one hour to arrive there from my home in Los Angeles. However, the room itself is rather small and could use a renovation. There were no grab bars in the shower or by the toilet. The tiny refrigerator froze everything, including an injectable medication. But the magic of being on the water and hearing waves makes it worth the costs.

I was in the back of the hotel so I was able to park in the back of the parking lot and come in through the side door and just go up to the second floor very easy. They had your typical eggs, bfast meats (non pork would have been nice though), potatoes, fruit, oatmeal, etc. You can also have omelettes, pancakes and waffles made to order. Tip: go early bc they get slammed and it will take a while to get seated and you'll have to work really hard to flag someone down. 2) Room size: we had a king and the room was spacious and also had a small sectional. There was enough room for two people to spread their stuff out and still have room to move around. 3) Front desk: Great service, friendly and very responsive on the messaging service through the app. Cons: 1) Beds: Nothing compared to Westin beds. There was a mattress topper that was too small so it kept moving around, pretty annoying. Pillows were lumpy and not firm. 2) Bathroom: Small and no exhaust fan so the entire hotel room would get super humid after a shower. Thankfully it was cool outside so we opened the window to get air circulation. The shower sliding doors were hard to maneuver and water pooled at the bottom of the shower after a few minutes. 3) Musty smell - self explanatory Overall it's a solid option, minimal frills but definitely sufficient. Some reviews said there was a lot of construction noise but we didn't hear it at all. 4) Parking fee - The fee was $16 so while that's not an exorbitant amount, I really don't think suburban hotels should be charging a fee to park.

The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. The palm trees in the middle of the parking lot are nicely lit at nice. The water pressure in the bathroom was super strong. I liked that the bathroom had a window as well as the kitchen. Some rooms have a small patio door in the back. From our kitchen window we could see plants and flowers. Outside of our room there were cute tables with lots of flowers as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! Not up to Marriott quality…read more... At the last minute, we decided to stay over in Ventura. We booked this hotel through the Marriott app. Upon arrival we were greeted with friendless on a Sunday night at the front desk. The front desk provided us a wealth of information for our stay. We are long time Marriott members- we have the highest level of status with Marriott- and our status paid off during this hotel stay. We were offered room 326 which must be one of the most elite rooms on the premise. On the top floor, floor three, tucked right behind the elevator we found the room 326 with a double door. As we entered the room we were greeted with an expansive greeting area/hallway which opened up to two rooms- one of the rooms consisted of a massive family room/eatery area whereas the other room was the bedroom. Both rooms had sliding doors that lead to an expansive patio area that consisted of two patio tables. The view overlooked the marina area. Unfortunately, the view was distorted a bit by the street behind the hotel and the maintenance area for the hotel. The suite also consisted of two full bathrooms. The suite was clean. The bed was comfortable. Although, the hotel in general is very outdated. If Marriott was to sink some money into this hotel, I believe this could truly be a lovely resort on the marina. As mentioned, the rooms are outdated as well as the resort amenities. The hotel consists of multiple tennis courts that have been left unmaintained, a small pool that is also outdated in appearance, and elevator that has seen its days. The elevators smell like mechanical oil and the floor numbers can barely be read. The landscape around the hotel, the floor pot areas, are left to weeds. The floors in our room had multiple spots. The tissue paper holder was falling off the vanity and rusted. With that said, this hotel is all about location- if you want to be on the marina, then this hotel may be for you- just don't expect a modern hotel.

It was clean, spacious and had everything I would need. They have done some updating. There is a desk & chair along with two charging outlets on the desk and dresser area. They have an ice machine that was always full alongside a vending machine. The only suggestion I would make is to provide a plastic bag for the ice bucket, for sanitary reasons. Luckily, I had one with me. The balcony was very nice with two comfortable chairs and a nice size table. The views were spectacular of the beach. It was very foggy during my stay so no sunset but that happens sometimes. There are several restaurants within a very short walk from the hotel and beach access is easy. It was quiet at night and the sliding door to the balcony had a security bar so you could leave it open a few inches or all the way if you wanted to. The sounds of the waves crashing on the shore made for such a peaceful and restful sleep. They have a good size refrigerator in the room that kept everything really cold and a coffee maker with the regular & decaf pods along with powdered creamer & sugar.
