I stayed here for a couple nights. I was working in the area. My room was very clean. Bed was amazing. Had a great night sleep every night. I was in the back of the hotel so I was able to park in the back of the parking lot and come in through the side door and just go up to the second floor very easy. The fun thing was there was an In-N-Out restaurant right across the street. There's other restaurants down the road too. Very close to the beach, staff was super nice. The rooms here are decent, but the overall layout of the property is a bit inconvenient. Breakfast service was surprisingly slow, even though it was a buffet. The staff seemed to be trying hard, but it felt like they were either understaffed or not properly trained. The biggest issue for me, however, was the lack of service in the M Club Lounge. I arrived Friday night and checked out Sunday morning, and during that entire time the lounge was never properly restocked, refreshed, serviced, or even cleaned. As a Lifetime Titanium member, that was extremely disappointing. At that point, it makes you question why you chose this Marriott property in the first place when the key elite benefit isn't being maintained. I honestly would have considered another Marriott property -- or even a Hilton -- had I known. I brought the issue up to the front desk, but they seemed somewhat oblivious to the fact that this is a core guest amenity issue, not just something reserved for weekday corporate travelers. The hotel definitely has potential, but it needs stronger management attention and better operational oversight to deliver the level of experience expected from the brand. read more

Stayed here for a two night stay and it was a solid option. Pros: 1) Solid breakfast, included for 2 people with Platinum status or above. They had your typical eggs, bfast meats (non pork would have been nice though), potatoes, fruit, oatmeal, etc. You can also have omelettes, pancakes and waffles made to order. Tip: go early bc they get slammed and it will take a while to get seated and you'll have to work really hard to flag someone down. 2) Room size: we had a king and the room was spacious and also had a small sectional. There was enough room for two people to spread their stuff out and still have room to move around. 3) Front desk: Great service, friendly and very responsive on the messaging service through the app. Cons: 1) Beds: Nothing compared to Westin beds. There was a mattress topper that was too small so it kept moving around, pretty annoying. Pillows were lumpy and not firm. 2) Bathroom: Small and no exhaust fan so the entire hotel room would get super humid after a shower. Thankfully it was cool outside so we opened the window to get air circulation. The shower sliding doors were hard to maneuver and water pooled at the bottom of the shower after a few minutes. 3) Musty smell - self explanatory Overall it's a solid option, minimal frills but definitely sufficient. Some reviews said there was a lot of construction noise but we didn't hear it at all. 4) Parking fee - The fee was $16 so while that's not an exorbitant amount, I really don't think suburban hotels should be charging a fee to park. read more

Unprofessional staff at front desk and M Lounge. This Marriott leaves a lot to be desired. Very little snacks and beverages available. Coffee espresso machine was out of order. Room was not available until after 3:15 pm and front desk never called to meet me know. Clearly the staff at this property are not service oriented or client focused. I have traveled 77 nights in 2025 with Marriott and the Ventura Beach Marriott is very disappointing. We went to a Christmas party at this location. The event was beautifully decorated. It was very elegant, with the winter feeling and the table scapes were just delicately decorated. The food that was catered was actually quite tasty. The charcuterie tables looked very delicious and pretty at the same time. The drinks served were ok, I was surprised that the bar didn't have Bailey's Irish cream, or amaretto liquor on hand. Over all it was an elegant event attending this location. read more

This hotel is all about location, location, location..:.:The hotel is just down the street from Ventura Beach. A short walk to Ventura Pier...and just a couple of miles from downtown Ventura. Beyond being in an ideal location, the hotel has had a major rehab from when I last stayed. The bedroom decor and furnishings are all new. The bed affords comfort that a Marriott should have in their rooms. New bathrooms exist in rooms too! Although, After all this money, a big miss was that Marriott did not invest in soundproof windows. The windows are still original thus you can hear highway and outside traffic. And the rooms are not soundproof so you can hear guest next to you as well as above you. With that said, if you are a light sleeper then this is not the hotel for you. As for breakfast; platinum members and above receive a complimentary breakfast buffet on weekends. Unfortunately the breakfast is horrible and bland. Supposedly breakfast buffet for two is 52 dollars. The coffee was even bad. During weekdays, breakfast is in the M club. Parking is a minimum of 16 dollars per a night for guest. read more

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend as we were attending a Weekend to Remember event. Our hotel experience was great. We checked in easily and went straight to our room (4th floor) to drop off our luggage. The room was clean and tidy. There was a safe available, but no fridge or microwave. The bathroom and shower were clean and well lit. There was also closet space and drawers for storage. To be honest, we didn't spend a whole lot of time in our room. I mean who wants to stay in a hotel when they can go to the beach and check out LA?! By the way, the beach is within walking distance of the hotel! There is an In N Out across the street, McDonald's about a block away , and gas stations nearby . The only thing we didn't pay much attention to was a $30 parking fee per day. I wish we would've caught this when booking the hotel on Hotels.com Also, while walking down the hall to our room we could hear other people in their rooms. My husband and I loved our experience at the Ventura Marriott over the 4th of July weekend. Parking was easy and we were able to check in a couple hours early. Our room on the 4th floor was clean, modern and had a great bathroom. Service was friendly with every person we encountered. They have a small snack store and a nice bar to grab a drink before or after heading out for the day. We will definitely be back. read more

Me and my family have been coming to this Marriott for a while now and while it might not be the nicest and while it's under construction there are no rooms close to the pool, I still very much enjoy it here. It's walking distance to the beach as well as walking distance to delicious local restaurants. It has decent size pool where my kids enjoy 90 percent of the time. My kids prefer to swim all day rather than be at the beach but it's a nice walk for us to be there and spend a good 20 min before heading back to the hotel and continue to swim. They have plenty of seating indoor and fire pit outside for the chilly nights. All the furniture updated and clean, don't mine coming for a weekend every year for just to sit by the pool and walk to a delicious dinner. read more

My wife, our puppy, and I, spent a few days in this hotel and it was so nice. The room accommodations were wonderful as the design was well thought out ! Space utilization was matched with the correct size / placement furniture and indirect lighting while giving enough of a widened traffic pattern to not be claustrophobic or overcrowded. The balcony, surprisingly, had only one small chair. However, it was a rainy stay so no loss there. The bathroom was well designed with a beautiful and larger walk in shower coupled with great water pressure. Sliding doors on the shower, as well as, the bathroom assisted with space management. Color coordination and room design was simple, yet location appropriate. The bed was firm, yet comfortable, and the temperature control worked well. There was secure parking and plenty of spaces, despite the convention that was happening. Room service was prompt, food was fresh, and served on actual porcelain plates and metal flatware brought on a tray by a well dressed waiter with a food cart. I know that sounds silly but I have not seen that since before the pandemic. Thank you .. It was so nice to encounter that again !! Please keep up the great work !! This review is for the dining area and the bar. The breakfast we had was delicious and our waiter, Manual, was polite and efficient. The hostess, however, was incredibly disastrous! She was SLOW, forgetful, and generally inefficient. She had very long, gray hair pulled into a ponytail with no name tag in sight. On a brighter note, a young man at the bar named Mark was fantastic! We are done with this hotel. They cleaned up front but property is aging. The property GM is extremely unprofessional. She called and yelled about motorcycle parked upfront and when I said we will move bike after unpacking...she disabled our keys! Perhaps bike worth more than her salary and that got her unstable but frankly I wouldn't hire her in any customer direct customer interaction role. I attended a conference here and found facilities amazing. I'm guessing there were probably 500-800 attendees (maybe even 1000? I don't know. I'm not good at estimating attendance numbers. The point is, the conference was big). The common areas were beautiful and comfortable. During lunch it was easy to find somewhere to comfortably eat. The bathrooms were well maintained. There were a variety of conference rooms to accommodate all of the sessions and it was very easy to navigate. Oh, and this one is of importance-parking! For as many attendees present, they have ample parking! So, it was very easy to get in and out! I usually hate large conferences because exiting feels like waiting in a Disneyland line. Not so here. This is a nice basic Marriott with unhappy, bad service. Looks recently upgraded but the furniture they chose has worn quickly. The floor shakes as you walk around the room which is unsettling. Tiny balcony good for drying beach stuff. Small fridge. We had a suite which had 2 TVs, 2 closets and 2 full baths. Close enough to everything but you need a car. Our elevator smelled like grease and oil the whole trip. Babies/unattended children in the hot tub with alcohol/glass every time made us not use it. You would think security checked on things once and awhile or any of the staff, but not so much. Gym looks nice. The staff from "security" to the front desk to breakfast was all really unhappy. No good notes there. The staff being rude and unhappy can really ruin a vacation. Overall, we expected more but it was fine. read more

We stayed here for my husband's work party and I thought it was beautiful. The check in process was very easy and they even asked our preference of floor level which was nice. We got to the room and realized they gave us 2 queen beds so we called down and asked if we could get a king. They said no problem come back down and we will switch it out which was awesome. They said the pool and spa were heated but the pool was definitely not heated. The spa was nice though and I spent an hour in there. The room was beautiful, the gym was very nice and the employees were great. It was a bummer that the ice machine on our floor was broken but not a huge deal. We were on the ocean which was wonderful and I would definitely be back! read more

Stayed here to celebrate 2024 new years, we left to venture out in downtown Ventura. The pros, the room was reasonably priced. Check out was at 12pm, although my bf insisted it said 11am the night before. Maybe it did say that? The jacuzzi and gym room were nice. I liked the modern feel to the room and how there was a bar available. The cons, at check-in, we had to sign a paper saying we won't have a party here. I found it interesting that they also had the prices for missing items listed in our room . That's the first time I ever saw that in a hotel before. The walls are not exactly soundproof, I heard footsteps in the morning from the room above me. I would honestly invest in some theft resistant items at this point to avoid having this price list in the rooms. But I guess, what can do you do right haha. It's pretty average room for the price you get. it was alright. I don't think I would come back to this place unless there were no other options though. So why the 3? They did not upgrade the staff we had to deal with. We had no hot water - none. Called down and was told they would let engineering know. We went out for a long walk and tried again an hour later, still no hot water. Called down again and was told "let it run". After 20 minutes running - still no hot water. Went to have a face-to-face with the front desk - dead eyed totally unconcerned response. Called the Brighton Management office, the franchisee, @ 5:30 and got the message that their hours are 9am to 6pm and then it went to voicemail box. ???? What started out as a great visit ended up a great disappointment. We drove down from the Central Coast to attend a performance at a Comedy Club in Oxnard. As we were planning to head down to LA for the weekend, we decided to stay locally in Ventura. As a Lifetime Platinum Member, we were told that two of the three of us (my husband, his sister, and me) would receive a free breakfast. The next morning we preceded to the restaurant. We were asked if we were Elite and I answered affirmatively. We were told that we would all be charged for breakfast, but we could go to the lounge. So we went to the lounge. There they would only admit me and 1 other person. I offered to pay for the 3rd person. Not possible. They wanted me to choose between my husband and my sister-in-law! As a long time guest of the Marriott Corporation, I have often been given breakfast vouchers. In fact, we are at another Marriott right now where we go to the restaurant for breakfast in the morning. The refusal to let the 3 of us into the lounge or to honor our benefit at the restaurant is a sign of bad customer service. For me it is not about the money. It is the principle! I will certainly never be a guest there again and will steer my friends and family away. read more

Second time staying here. The first time was back in march of 2017 and now march of 2023! Marriott has completely renovated this place. It looks nothing like before! It's so modern now! Def. Growing with the times! Our stay was was pleasant! Our room was great!! Spacious and super clean! I love Marriott products! Specifically their shower gel!! Wife and I spent 2 nights here, this last weekend. The room was nice, faced courtyard. Wish the window had a screen so we could open it at night for fresh aire. A/C it works, not well, the 2 nights room did not cool off til 2 or 3 in the morning. Would not hurt to clean the windows on the building, they need it. Had outstanding service in the bar from Nicole, great drinks and the food was delicious. Nicole deserves a raise, her customer service was outstanding, and so pleasant. Wife says she makes the best margarita! The elevator to our side of the building was out of service, so, they graciously gave us half off the parking fee, frankly, should have been waived completely. I arrived in the afternoon and spent a wonderful evening and morning before I headed up to see a client in Ojai. While it was a very short stay. I appreciated the very nice and clean room with an ocean view on the fourth floor outside my balcony. The staff was nice and helpful, and perhaps most of all the fact that the pool and Jacuzzi stayed open until 11 PM. After a wonderful dinner at the Ox and Ocean not too far on the Oxnard shore, I had the jacuzzi to myself for almost an hour. The bed was more than suitable and in the morning I had the buffet that was included in my room. Being gluten intolerant I'm not fond of buffets but there were plenty of choices for me to be more than satisfied. read more

Recently renovated and they're still working out the kinks but overall an excellent experience. Rooms were modern and clean. I was there for a conference. Wi-Fi was excellent for video calls. The bar area was really comfortable. The gym was greatly improved with lots of options. My room didn't have hot water. They tried to fix it but the fix lasted about five hours. They had to give me another room. A little annoying as the maintenance person confessed that the room hasn't been working. Thanks. The location is still the major selling point. A huge 'thank you' to the Hotel Manager, Pearl, and her staff for their professionalism, understanding, and service while my elderly father-in-law was staying because he was displaced due to work on his home. What was a reasonable Marriott hotel cannot be described this way due to declining service over the past year, where top management has made it clear to at least this customer that customer satisfaction is a far second priority to profitability. While at this juncture the hotel is undergoing an external remodeling effort, my rating is not affected by something that likely should be considered prior to booking a stay at the hotel at this point in time. The courtyard is totally blocked off at this juncture and inaccessible while heavy equipment is working in this area. Outside the hotel all of the plantings have been removed where there is nothing but bare dirt. In short really ugly at this point in time. But that said a typical week is to go days without soap for the shower, asking multiple times only to find out that the hotel had run out of shower gel where finally a tiny amount of residual in another bottle was delivered after begging for help. Perhaps I shouldn't expect towels and shower floor mat to be replaced daily, but at the cost per room night this is conventional for a hotel. Unfortunately you can't count on this occurring where standing on a wet floor after showering is an option or complain until someone delivered a floor mat. Replacing paper goods such as Kleenex which might very well have been partially empty when you arrive for you stay apparently is a problem for the hotel. With regards to the inside of the hotel, one should note that fire doors are propped open which in turn means if a fire occurs they will NOT close automatically. This is likely a fire code violation and a huge danger for what appears to be a building substantially built from wood (e.g. you can tell given the building creaks and shakes when people are walking around). Otherwise the hotel is an older property that had undergone a remodel in the past decade but is now showing its age where the rooms are just ok but slowly showing wear and tear. That said the beds are comfortable. The hotel isn't on the beach, but it is walking distance from the beach. With regards to food there is nothing wrong with the restaurant, but much like many hotels in the post Covid era the menu selections are very limited and never change. Should you book at this hotel at this point in time? To be blunt the probable fire code violation should make this hotel a hard pass. If I'm wrong, then it comes down to how much you want to stay at this Marriott perhaps because of loyalty to obtain Marriott room nights and/or points. All that said the principle issue is the fact that the hotel's top management simply doesn't care about their customer base making it obvious to the customer. // Two weeks later failed to provide service for the room. Parking on their lot is not free and upon looking at my receipt was $16 per day. Also breakfast is not free and not included. The décor is sleek and modern. I had a view of the pool from my room. I also could hear a baby crying next to me on one side and a man on the phone on the other side of me which tells you that it's not very soundproof. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were fairly nice. They are dog friendly here and we did meet a couple of French bulldogs in the lobby walking around with their owner. I never ate on site at the hotel. There's an In-N-Out literally across the street, McDonald's was a good option for a quick breakfast while on the go, and we went to Downtown Ventura and the pier for dinner. read more

We spent one night at this hotel (using a free night/year service by Bonvoy), and I found the hotel to be better than what I expected. Location: Right across from Inn and Out, walking distance from the beach, walking distance from restaurants. You could walk to the Pier even, but it would be a long walk. Decor: Looks like it was a more casual hotel then they recently renovated. The bed was super comfortable, and the bedroom was spacious, even the bathroom was pretty good sized. Service: Very attentive during check in and check out. Answered all my questions. Noise: So if you're looking to stay in and lounge, the noise might bother you since we could hear everything from our surrounding neighbors, toilets being flushed, doors closing, etc. Pretty thin walls. Overall, not a luxurious, super romantic hotel, but if you're going to be out and about and will be spending minimal time at the hotel, this hotel should do the job. Very convenient and efficient. I liked that they had self parking, I hate hotels that only have valet and you have to wait every time you need to go in and out. My wife and I stayed here one night as a weekend getaway. The location of the hotel is ideal for its proximity to highway 101 and within walking distance to the beach. The lobby is spacious and the check in/check out process is very smooth. The mattress and pillows were way too soft which made it difficult to get a good nights rest. The room was adequate and the shower had good pressure but a soft bed ruins everything. We did use the fitness center but noticed it needed a good wipe down as several machines had dry sweat on them. They could clean the gym better and provide additional machines for the lower body. Jacuzzi was sufficient but nothing special. read more

Can I just say any hotel that is across from an In n Out and less than a mile from the beach can't be all that bad. We where in Oxnard too see THE OMG George Lopez comedy act and we figured we might as well stay the night since our drive home is close to two hours away. The lady whom checked us in was very sweet and was able to provide us with an accessible room with a large shower and chair, it was perfect. We started to get ready to attend the show and we decided to grab a ride and noticed their is no real transportation around (lyft/uber) one of our drivers was from Riverside and the other from Santa Barbara. Good to know for the next time we return to just take our own car wherever we are going. When we returned from the show I wanted to enjoy a cocktail since the venue was serving drinks I wouldn't normally consume, however when we enter the hotel is was very quite, and the only person at the bar was the bartender so we skipped our night cap and decided to retreat to our room. My husband and I usually have a hard time sleeping in hotel beds since we are just so used to ours. I woke up some time in the middle of the night with my outfit still on and my husband asleep with the TV and his glasses still on. We had the best sleep ever, I don't think we even moved once and I always dream every night and nothing. I was so impressed I asked my husband to take pictures of the brand of mattress it was. As per every morning I wanted coffee and I'm sorry but I can't stand when hotels provide you the Keurig and the coffee but no water. My husband ventured out into the lobby where it was breakfast time and obtaining two coffees with pastries took him over 20 mins when he was the only one waiting; between the breakfast crowd and providing us coffee it was just bad timing. As we sat in bed enjoying our coffee we kept feeling a slam against the bed headboard, I know there was no room next to us so I assumed maybe it was the linen room, so I asked my husband to go out to ask for my wipes, as he exited our room and returned empty handed he told me their was just a wall! Okay , strange but even stranger because now the banging was every few minutes and getting stronger each time. That was the moment I said okay time to get dressed and check out. Once we checked out by the same lovely lady whom checked us in I asked her if we needed a room key to renter the hotel since we wanted to go see the Koi fish at the pond. We did not so off we went to venture out to see what else we didn't have a chance to utilize. We saw the lovely Koi pond that was quite large and enjoyed watching them follow us, they also had a lovely waterfall, the pool and hot tub the gym and strangely the ice machine clear across the courtyard. Lots of patio seating just to enjoy the fresh beach air and a fire pit to enjoy with a nice glass of red wine. We will return and stay at the Marriott when we visited the beaches close by too see which would be the most fun for our son. Next summer will be finally a lovely beach day followed by a good night sleep. read more

Stayed at the Marriott this weekend. The room was basic but adequate. When we checked in I was told that parking was $16 a day but I would receive a credit because I was a Marriott Bonvoy member. then I was told breakfast was included because I was a Marriott Bonvoy member. Neither were true. I received o credit. When asked why it was because I wasn't at a certain level. The breakfast for two people came to $52. It was just a basic continental breakfast and no drinks were provided. They were vey disorganized. Definitely not worth $52. I felt like the hotel lied about being included. I didn't find out the breakfast wasn't included until after we ate. If I had known we would not have eaten there. I would not recommend this Marriott for this reason. Beware! read more

We came here for drinks once when friends were staying here years ago but didn't recognize the lobby since a complete makeover has rendered it fabulous by Ventura standards. Why stay here when we live here? Because it is raining, my husband broke his ankle two days ago and needs an accessible shower, and why not try something new? We never do staycations, but if we do, this will be my first choice. I am a Bonvoy member, so checkin was easy, walked down the hallway to check out the easily accessible shower with a seat, and proceeded to the lovely 'The Channel' lobby bar, with countless comfortable couches and chairs. We drowned our sorrows with a delicious cosmo and Manhattan accompanied with house made potato chips, which are the best I've had to date as the rain came down and he rested his poor foot in its cast on his scooter. Life seems so much better now. Rooms have nice bedding, lots of plug-ins, a fridge, and 48" tv. A good choice if you are visiting the Ventura Beach a block away. read more
