We rented 2 rooms for my husband and 2 teenage kids and this hotel delivered on all my must haves for a relaxing, restful and wonderful stay. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, well appointed and spacious. Check-in was easy and the concierge was nice even offering to give us adjacent rooms. Parking was also free. Over all, we had a pleasant stay and I'd definitely stay here again when I'm in the area.

So dirty and disgusting

This location is comparable to a Motel 6. It feels unsafe, dirty, and noisy (neighbors and train). This is definitely a 2 star hotel and I would not recommend it to families with small children. Please read my Trip Advisor review in the pics. The staff are cordial and polite. NEVER AGAIN! Such a disappointment.

Dirty tub

My tub looks filthy, with no toilet paper on the holder. It looks like someone splashed coffee on the bathroom door. 9 o'clock at night, bistro closed (closed on Sunday too), no alcohol in vending. Bed had so many dips and bunps that i couldn't sleep comfortably. If work did not force me to stay here, I wouldn't.

Ants and even a stray hair on mattress. My son is blond. So gross.

My kids had ants in their beds and they couldn't get their room changed or even clean sheets. They had to sleep on stripped mattresses with no sheets. They were each given one scratchy, brown, camping blanket. The hotel said they couldn't refund us because we booked through Orbitz. Orbitz then asked for a refund and the General Manager Betty Amezcua refused. My son was bitten by ants and we paid over $600 dollars for my son to get bitten by ants one night and both kids to sleep on bare mattresses the 2nd night. Check your beds and the walls behind them if you stay here. The ants were climbing up and down the walls and onto the beds. I never do bad reviews but this place truly earned one. The only positive is the night clerk, that wasn't allowed to do anything to help, was really nice. I felt bad for her.

Hosted my overhead 360 booth Here for Hueneme High reunion.

Excellent staff, clean hotel. I didn't stay here, I attended the event. The food was excellent, and the service was excellent. Drinks were very expensive, though.

desk inside the room, plenty of room

Is there a fridge in the room?

Yes there was a mini fridge, coffee, and microwave. And the lobby had snacks n cup of noodles :)

Does anyone know if they do onsite steaming or pressing? We are headed there for a wedding and have not been able to get an answer from thr front desk.

I don't think they do. There are irons you can use in your room. But I'm sure housekeeping can help you out if you ask them. Good luck hope they can help you!

One of My Favorite Hilton Properties, and Almost Too Good to Share!…read more I've been coming to this wonderful beachfront resort for years, dating back to when it was an Embassy Suites. Even then, it never looked or felt like any Embassy Suites I'd ever visited! When Hilton introduced its Curio Collection, this unique property was a natural fit. Following an extensive top-to-bottom renovation, Zachari Dunes at Mandalay Beach has become something truly special. Located directly on the beach in Oxnard, near Naval Base Ventura County at Port Hueneme, the resort offers an absolutely spectacular setting. Beautiful grounds, a large swimming pool with plenty of shaded and sunny seating, an enormous Jacuzzi with a waterfall feature, and easy access to a gorgeous beachfront walking path make this place feel like a true getaway. The renovated suites are fantastic, featuring tasteful tropical and nautical touches throughout. Each offers a separate living room, spacious bedroom, two bathrooms, a dining area, microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. There's plenty of room to spread out and relax! My only minor criticism is the dining/work table. The newer seating isn't particularly comfortable for anyone needing to spend several hours working on a laptop. As someone who frequently travels for business, I do miss having a proper desk. Another nice touch is the availability of filtered water refill stations throughout the property. Dining options include Ox & Ocean for a proper breakfast or a charming, vintage Airstream-style food trailer for coffee, pastries, and lighter morning fare. As a Hilton Diamond member, I've also been fortunate to receive occasional ocean-view upgrades during the quieter winter months. Waking up to those views never gets old! I absolutely love this resort. The location, accommodations, amenities, and overall atmosphere make it one of my favorite places to stay anywhere along the California coast. In fact, I'm almost reluctant to write this review. The last thing I need is everyone discovering my little beachfront secret and making it harder for me to get a room! Five stars, without hesitation!

The room was ready before check in time. The kids were looking forward to going swimming after our afternoon in Ojai. We were warmly greeted by the staff upon check in with quick excellent service. The room was extra cleaned with a small fridge and microwave. We were bummed later to find out the swimming pool was under renovation, but the front desk called their sister property next door so we can use their swimming pool. It was an absolutely much bigger pool so we got extremely happy. The best part, we had the whole entire pool to ourselves. Then the weather shifted to a colder evening, but luckily the swimming pool was heated. Our evening became even better due to happy hour. My friend and I enjoyed $5 tequila sunrises. The bartenders were so generous with their heavy hands pouring mainly tequila in our cocktails. They do have a great happy hour menu! We really enjoyed our stay and this trip was a memorable one.

The room was very spacious, although it could use a bit more natural light. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was how clean everything was. The room had no unpleasant odors, which is always a big plus. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, professional, and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Overall, I had a good stay. The only downside is that many things in the room feel outdated, including the air conditioner, carpet, and bathroom door. Some renovations and updates to at least a portion of the rooms would make a noticeable difference. Still, considering the price and location, this motel offers good value for money.

The other only dining location that was better than this one was a hotel we stayed at in Dubai. My wife had requested a 2nd floor unit because we wanted a kitchenette but initially they put us in a ground level unit. The gentleman at the check in desk was more than happy to give us a 2nd floor unit with a kitchenette since it was there mistake. The room was very spacious and the kitchenette was awesome. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy as described in other reviews but we had no issues at all. This establishment is near restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores so you can pretty much get anything you need. I was also very impressed with the Ice Machine, you have to actually use your key card in the machine to get Ice. There is a CVS across the street and please be advised there are railroad tracks about 100 yards from the motel. Traffic could be a slight issue because actual freight trains do come through the area. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, my Friends!!!

This is something I wish hotels would do. The "excellent" rating stated is untrue. Our room was like a dingy motel room. The furniture was all scuffed, paint was peeling, the table top finish was poorly done. We asked for a room away from the construction, instead every morning we woke up to constant beeping from a tractor backing up. Since it is a residential complex. There was also the early noise of people starting their noisy cars to go to work. Overall it was the worst stay of our week-long journey.

I reserved a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath apartment that comfortably accommodated three of us, and it could easily host a family of six thanks to its spacious layout and a convenient pullout couch downstairs. The amenities exceeded my expectations--shower pressure was excellent, making quick and refreshing showers easy especially if you're a big group. The condo includes utilities for four people, with plenty of towels provided (Thanks Tina). While there's no air conditioning, the ocean breeze just a block away kept the unit comfortably cool throughout our stay. A nice bonus was having a hot tub in each unit, perfect for relaxing evenings. Parking was also straightforward, with one dedicated spot included. A heads-up for warmer months: if you're sensitive to heat, keep in mind that summer temperatures can get quite hot, and the unit might feel warm without A/C. Additionally, because of the communal setup, it can get quite loud--sounds from neighboring units are audible--so don't forget your earplugs if you value quiet. Off-season, this spot is ideal for friends' getaways or a quick romantic escape. Overall, a charming and practical choice that offers great value and a fantastic location near the ocean.

Hospitality is not simply a service offered here--it is the very heart of the culture. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth, welcoming smiles, and a level of kindness that immediately made us feel valued as guests. Every interaction with the staff reflected a sincere commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. It is evident that caring for others is not just part of their job description; it is something they genuinely embrace. We would especially like to recognize and thank Bridgette, who welcomed us upon our arrival. Bridgette went above and beyond to ensure we knew our way to our room, had everything we needed, and felt completely comfortable from the very beginning of our stay. More than that, she made us feel as though we were home for the night rather than simply guests checking into a hotel. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care exemplify what exceptional hospitality should be. Her guest service is truly stellar and deserving of recognition. Beyond the outstanding service, the location is ideal. Hotel San Buena is within walking distance of the heart of the city, providing convenient access to a wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Whether you are looking for casual dining, upscale cuisine, or something in between, the diverse selection of nearby restaurants offers something for every taste and preference. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Rich in historical architecture and character, Hotel San Buena offers a unique experience that blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to another era. The attention to architectural detail, charm, and preservation of the building's history create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and memorable. Perhaps one of the most refreshing aspects of our stay was discovering that the hotel is exactly what it appears to be on its website. In an era where photos can sometimes overpromise, Hotel San Buena exceeds expectations. The beauty, character, cleanliness, and ambiance showcased online are an accurate reflection of the experience guests receive upon arrival. Simply put, it is beautiful. An additional feature we greatly appreciated was the secure, guest-only parking. Knowing that parking was safe, well-maintained, and reserved exclusively for hotel guests provided an added sense of comfort and peace of mind throughout our stay. The team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable stay. Their attentiveness, positive attitudes, and genuine care create an environment that feels welcoming, personal, and authentic. For anyone searching for accommodations in the area, my husband and I wholeheartedly encourage you to make Hotel San Buena your first choice. Whether traveling for business, leisure, or a special occasion, you will find a property where exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, historic charm, and heartfelt hospitality come together seamlessly. In an industry where genuine hospitality can sometimes be difficult to find, Hotel San Buena stands as a shining example of what it means to make guests feel truly welcome.
