The person we spoke with kept putting us on hold, was difficult to communicate with, and made the booking process way more complicated than it needed to be. The whole time, his behavior just felt strange and shady. After we finally thought we had everything figured out and were going to pay around $1,500 for our rooms, he asked for our credit card number. We were already suspicious about whether there would be additional charges, so we directly asked him, "Are you going to charge us another $600 when we get there?" He said yes. We were obviously shocked and asked why we would be charged another $600 after already paying around $1,500 for the rooms. He went silent for a while and then quietly said, "yes." At that point, we were absolutely not comfortable giving him our credit card information. The entire interaction was extremely strange and made us feel like we couldn't trust the booking process. We decided not to book. I would be very careful and make sure you get a clear explanation of every charge before giving this place your payment information. Based on our experience, we would not recommend it because it is SHADY!

I had an exterior facing room vs a garden courtyard, but honestly the noise wasn't that bad and I felt very peaceful in my room. There's a restaurant in the hotel, although I didn't order food, I did order a Shirley Temple (so nostalgic!), which was made w real cherry juice...so good! The bartender/waitress was very friendly, as were all the employees I interacted with on my stay. Everything was clean and comfy. Would stay here again!

We were looking for a somewhat close town to visit from Orange County, and Carpinteria was our stop. We stayed at Best Western and had a roll away bed and 2 queen beds for our family. It was a perfect one night stay. We faced the lovely courtyard. Our room was easily accessible by using the stairs to the 2nd floor. The room was clean and beds were comfy. The hotel is within about 1-2 miles away and the town is a nice 15 - 20 walk from Best Western. Ask the front desk for some fish food to feed the Koi fish.

It comes with a couple of beach cruisers and has a great out door shower to wash the beach off. If you want to go to Santa Barbara, or anywhere north or south, Amtrak has a stop about 100 yards from the house. This is our favorite place to visit throughout the year!!!!

Beds were super comfortable, the home was super clean, the gathering places inside and out were super cozy with a lovely fireplace and fire-pit for cool evenings. Will be back again! My mom books our room through their website, actually their website. When we go to check out she asks for a printout of the incidentals as usual. She looks it over and informs the guy at the front desk that this was not her bill because she paid $100 more for the room and the credit card shown was not hers. She also did not book through Expedia. The guy looks it over and says it was her statement and that sometimes Expedia makes their website look like the hotel's (if this is true it sounds illegal and if it is legal wtf). He also said the lower amount that was on the statement is what Expedia pays them and that's the card Expedia uses. All very weird! In the end we paid $100 more for the room, not sure how to get this resolved. The guy at the front desk seemed knowledgeable about this, yet wasn't too interested in helping. Also, room 25 had lots and lots of fruit flies in it; like 20+ flying around everywhere.

There is a table right at the window so you can enjoy dining/reading/sitting with an incredible and private VIEW! This time we got the only accommodation that has TWO rooms-- so it felt like a small apartment without a kitchen! It's extra spacious and allowed everyone to have their privacy. The rooms are SUPER cute! Yes, the furniture is old. Yes, it looks like grandma's house. But from someone who has stayed in luxury resorts most of the time, these charming and timeless rooms have a special place in my heart. I'm not even sure if this makes sense, but the ambiance welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel right at home. It truly feels like I came to grandmas house. It feels so familiar and I know for a fact, staying here is healing my inner child each time. Can't get better than that. You can go visit the shore during low tide or walk over to the pier that leads to an island! This hotel is tucked away from the city and I absolutely love the seclusion. Although it's right next to the highway, staying here feels like stepping into a peaceful parallel universe-- the world still moves on the other side of the wall, but you're suspended in your own quiet, dreamlike bubble until it's time to return to reality. There are enough parking spots for all of the guests, and all of the guests were very low-key and pleasant to be around. Although all of the suites were rented out we actually barely ran into everyone and it felt as if we had the entire area to ourselves. I think one of the biggest perks on top of all these amenities is that our dog was allowed to enjoy the place just as much as we were. We are looking forward to another reason to take a trip up to Santa Barbara/Montecito area so we can stay here again! I would definitely recommend this place.

And there is a train that comes by that is even louder. -Paid for an Oceanfront View but in the pictures you'll see that from the patio, those hedges are too high for an unobstructed view of the ocean so try to get a balcony room for a better view. -No WIFI -Rooms could use a refresh. They are a bit dated. *I would probably give this hotel a rating closer to 3.5 but the husband and I were the only guests this day so it was nice of the staff to still put out the complimentary wine and snacks for us. The tilework is beautiful, the fountain used to be beautiful, the outdoor spaces used to be cozy. Just standing in the lobby, looking at the bookshelves, drag racing model and old victrola, gives a glimpse of the owner's personality 10 years ago, but now there's a feeling of neglect and waiting for someone else to take over. Maybe the couple who put it together had a falling out, maybe they're living in another country or maybe it's a COVID business casualty that never recovered, but the place feels like it's in a slow death spiral. The front desk person is there for limited hours, the "breakfast" consists of cereal dispensers and cookies/muffins which were the same in quantity and distribution over the two days we stayed (implying that they weren't getting restocked) The room was suitably prepared with cute folding of the towels but the walls had damage and anchor holes where things had been mounted in the past but their prior location was not patched. No one made up our room nor changed towels and sheets. Honestly, the place fit the bill for our stay, filling a niche between the motel 6 and the countless air B&Bs, and with a little better management and some upgrades, you have the potential to really get it right with your original vision, but it looks like it's just not the right time for the current owners. I wish them well and if there are new owners, I hope they are able to carry on with the initial vision that is evident in the decor of the lobby.
