I wish I had listened to other reviews and stayed somewhere else. It was loud the entire time but the hotel did provide complimentary ear plugs. And there is a train that comes by that is even louder. -Paid for an Oceanfront View but in the pictures you'll see that from the patio, those hedges are too high for an unobstructed view of the ocean so try to get a balcony room for a better view. -No WIFI -Rooms could use a refresh. They are a bit dated. *I would probably give this hotel a rating closer to 3.5 but the husband and I were the only guests this day so it was nice of the staff to still put out the complimentary wine and snacks for us. Also the next morning the chef pretty much just made breakfast for us and it was tasty.

You're within easy walking distance of State Street, great restaurants, and many of Santa Barbara's major attractions, which is a big plus. My main disappointment was the parking. I drive a larger vehicle, and the parking area is extremely tight and difficult to get in and out of. The spaces are so close together that you can literally be parked right up against another guest's door, making it difficult for them--or you--to get in and out of the vehicle. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel and really appreciated the convenient location, but if you're driving a larger vehicle, the parking situation is definitely something to consider.

My room was a little small but I was traveling alone and not doing much work in the room. Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained. It was a little tight for my evening yoga (had to move a chair and still be mindful of my space as I was tapping the door and a wall with my big wingspan) but no big deal. I sat outside and read later in the evening after I returned from a long stroll for dinner, drinks and some exploration of the area to the south called the "funk zone" which has some great local businesses - well worth the time to do an evening beer crawl or something through there.

We were able to host everyone at the rental afterward to celebrate, and we didn't have to worry about our kids being woken from their sleep, as each living space had doors we could close to keep it quieter. My husband had to work while we were in town and used the stunning library room while I ran around town with the kiddos. With temperatures over 90°F outside, the apartment became unbearably hot during the day. What makes this especially frustrating is that the host knew we were bringing a young child because we had requested a crib in advance. The lack of air conditioning was never clearly highlighted, despite being a critical piece of information that would have directly affected our decision to book. There is even a thermostat showing how hot the apartment gets, but no way to actually cool it down. During the daytime, the unit effectively becomes unusable and only begins to cool off after the sun goes down. The host tried to justify the lack of air conditioning as part of the apartment's "vintage" character, but most guests are not booking an Airbnb for outdated features. They expect basic amenities and a reasonably comfortable environment, especially during the summer.
