Holiday Inn Express in Carpinteria is not a bad place to stay. It's not the Ritz Carlton. But what…read moreis it, is a comfortable, clean, and safe hotel that is reasonably priced for the area. It's near the freeway, downtown Carpinteria, beachs, and a suburban shopping plaza with a grocery store ( eateries, Starbucks, fast food). Pros: + Complimentary breakfast. This was quite a spread and the egg and protein hot items rotates. Eggs one day could be a cheesy omelette patty and the next scrambled. The protein was bacon strip, pork sausage or turkey sausage patty. They had a pancake machine, very simple to use, just press a button. There were cinnamon rolls, bagels, bread slices, muffins, three cereal offerings, yogurt, and fruit (bananas, oranges). Coffee, tea, juices, milk, and even had almond milk. The women working the breakfast were amazing. Cheerful and helpful, adding to a great start to the day. They were taking care to refill hot food trays and tidying the area. + Outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. + Fitness center. + Free WiFi. + Free lending library in the lobby. + Complimentary 24/7 coffee and tea station in the lobby. Other: - They leave a printout of your receipt on the floor outside your door the early morning before checkout. I'm not a fan of this practice. Because we all know, people are noisy. I asked mine to be left at the desk. - The sole elevator is super small. Barely large enough for the bellhop cart and one person. - One of the two washing machines, in the guests laundry facility, was broken during our visit. - Not enough USB ports, for my liking, in the room. - The room's mini fridge temp was on the fritz. It froze my items even on a low setting. - Microwave was not cleaned. Still had the previous guests cheesy blob in it. Yikes.

Summerland Room #5…read more Pro: -ample parking -Room size is decent compared to other hotels. It as fireplace and an AC system window unit. (It is pretty loud though. Had to turn it on in short bursts because of how loud it was.) -Mini fridge gets drinks nice and cold (very rare these days) Pillows are VERY soft but hold their shape Cons: -Right next to the freeway. I wish I had listened to other reviews and stayed somewhere else. It was loud the entire time but the hotel did provide complimentary ear plugs. And there is a train that comes by that is even louder. -Paid for an Oceanfront View but in the pictures you'll see that from the patio, those hedges are too high for an unobstructed view of the ocean so try to get a balcony room for a better view. -No WIFI -Rooms could use a refresh. They are a bit dated. *I would probably give this hotel a rating closer to 3.5 but the husband and I were the only guests this day so it was nice of the staff to still put out the complimentary wine and snacks for us. Also the next morning the chef pretty much just made breakfast for us and it was tasty.

They also have nice extras like complementary breakfast, afternoon happy hour (wine and cheese and crackers) and later dessert, as long as you book directly on their website. Walking distance to all the cute boutiques Cafés and shops in Summerland. It is very close to the freeway, and you hear the freeway noise throughout, but they have a white sound machine playing in the room, which was actually very thoughtful. They have a nice Jacuzzi too. Totally recommend and will return!

Location : Very convenient and walkable to a lot of restaurants.Which we love. Parking : If you stay on the queen suite side there are limited spaces but they do have permit for you to park on Bath St. as well but if you stay the other side of the property which is King suites. Those rooms came with 1 parking space per room. Rooms : First time we got room No.7 which was a queen suite.Man oh man that bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept on in a hotel rooms. The room came with full stove and kitchen utensils,Coffee maker and ground coffee. If you decide to cook yourself some food they pretty much have everything you need. The second time we stayed on the king suite side at room 118A. The front door facing the street,So it slightly noisy than the other side of the property. The room was spacious,Basically it's like a studio apartment. They have everything you need. Vibe : It's very clean property. One of the cleanest property I have ever stayed.Cozy warm,Charming.Overall such a lovely place. Staffs : Every single one of them were nice and friendly.Check in and check out process went very smooth. They offer you a free snacks in the office as well. We're already booked our next trip with them to celebrate our anniversary and 4th of July in Santa Barbara. If you looking for a place to stay in Santa Barbara.Come here to Harbor house inn.You won't be disappoint.

They have a garage that opens around 8 or 9 AM (they don't open it too early because the garage door is loud for guests) and has free stuff for you to use including beach cruiser bikes, beach lounge chairs, towels, beach toys, umbrellas, and more. The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. The palm trees in the middle of the parking lot are nicely lit at nice. The water pressure in the bathroom was super strong. I liked that the bathroom had a window as well as the kitchen. Some rooms have a small patio door in the back. From our kitchen window we could see plants and flowers. Outside of our room there were cute tables with lots of flowers as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! The bathroom is on the small side. The interesting: The parking lot is small so they don't allow big trucks/vans. If you check-out before 7:30 am (like we did) then you will leave your keys in the mailbox out front by their office.

And the mattress... wow. It took everything in me to get out of that bed! It felt like it just embraced you, and waking up to those top window views made it even harder to leave. The food was incredible--both breakfast and dinner were beyond amazing. Enrique, Rafael, and the entire team (I wish I could remember every name!) made us feel so special. The level of care, attention to detail, and overall service was easily 1000 out of 100. Kat, thank you for everything--you truly made our stay unforgettable. The stables were just as impressive. Jack and all the handlers were not only knowledgeable about the ranch's history, but you can clearly see the love and care they have for the horses--it meant so much to witness that. I'm a little timid around horses, but Russell made the experience so comfortable and special for me. He paired me with Tator Tot, and I can't even describe the connection--he could sense when I was nervous and responded so gently. It was such a beautiful, unforgettable moment. My husband rode Big Elvis, and let's just say... the name fits perfectly--what a character! This ranch is truly one of a kind. An unforgettable experience from beginning to end. We will absolutely be back--this is now our home away from home.

He gave us welcome drinks along with a tour of the property. There's a game room with a pool table, plenty of outdoor seating areas, a full bar in the lobby, outdoor pool area with lounge chairs and hot tub. Amazing amenities!! We stayed in a canyon cabin, highly recommend, plenty of space, no shared walls, has a great porch with seating to enjoy the views. Breakfast and dinner is included in the stay, we loved every meal. It's exactly what you'd think you'd get on a ranch, chicken ribs grits greens for dinner and eggs sausage bacon pancakes fruit for breakfast. They even reserve a table for you throughout your stay, a lovely touch! We also booked a horse ride during our stay, we did the earliest ride to avoid the heat. 10/10 must do, my first time on a horse and they made me feel very comfortable. We loved every second of the ride. Thanks Bobby! The very least to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the years to come! Thank you to everyone at the Ranch

The hot, homemade breakfast prepared by Adriana each morning far exceeded our expectations--so much more than the standard continental breakfast. Every dish was made with care and felt truly special. Both Adriana and Jim were exceptional hosts--warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. They made us feel less like guests in their own home and more like part of their extended family. Their charm and genuine hospitality set this place apart. While a bit of light maintenance could be done in some areas, it's easily overshadowed by the outstanding service and the overall experience. Jim was there to meet us and show us our room. We got The Cowboy Room on the second floor (no live cowboys included! ) which we selected so that we could have separate beds. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. There were no other guests, so we had the whole floor to ourselves. It was super quiet and peaceful. I imagine it would be different if there was a house full guests. Jim gave us suggestions on things we could do and places to visit. He also gave us the code for the door, the wifi password, and warnings about bears. We opted to walk around the area and enjoyed a fantastic dinner at The Perch restaurant just a few minutes walk down the road. Coffee was available at 8 the next morning, Adriana made breakfast ready by 830am. We had eggs in hash brown cups, sausages, maple scones, toast with a variety of spreads, and fresh orange juice. Everything was delicious. Sorry I didn't take pictures, I was too busy eating! I was able to eat everything on the table. I had mentioned our list of food allergies upon reserving online and also emailed the list closer to the date. The communication was excellent. I would love to stay at Old Bear B n B again. Thank you, Jim and Adriana, for making us feel so comfortable and welcome.
