Yummy! I came here for breakfast with my husband and the options were endless. I loved seeing all the vegan/vegetarian options available in both the breakfast/lunch and dinner categories. The customization is also a nice touch for almost everything here. They also have alternative milk available too for their chai tea lattes and such. Their parking lot is a bit too small so you may have to park on the street if non is available. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We started off with the mimosa which served for two. It was delicious and refreshing. I made my own omelette with their veggie bacon, mushroom , spinach & vegan mozzarella. I got the side of their potatoes which was seasoned nicely, cooked perfectly and crispy just the way I like it. The omelette itself was also very fluffy and tasty. When my plate came, it was hot and steamy so you know it was cooked fresh. I also go a side of their cinnamon twist french toast for an additional $3 and it was delicious. Freshly toasted, crispy and sweet. However, it was a bit too sweet for my liking even without the maple syrup. I really enjoyed my experience here and unfortunately we came a bit underdressed because we had just came from our hike but the atmosphere and ambiance felt very boogie lol. Hugo's doesn't carbonate their sodas! I've been there twice in the last year and both time the diet cokes were flat--not just low on carbonation, but totally flat. The first time this happened they offered me lemonade instead. Last night I had them take it off the bill and just had water. The server said he was aware of the problem but that the manager didn't correct it. If they can't figure out how to serve fountain sodas they should either warn customers, take them off the menu or resorts to cans/bottles of soda. If McDonald's can master this shouldn't Hugo's? read more

I used to go to the Agoura Hills Hugo's and tended to like the food very much although it does have that "healthy" taste if you know what I mean. It would often be my preferred date-night spot for myself (vegan) and my carnivorous spouse. All Hugo's menus are big and they allow for so many substitutions to accommodate allergies/food intolerance and preferences. Very cool!!! However, anytime I've tried this location the food has been meh or made me nearly physically sick. I'm not talking contamination (everything is clean and presented nicely). I just mean lots of stuff is drennnched in oil, or the flavor is just off. I'm sorrrrey, I really want to like it and support vegan businesses but it's just been a letdown multiple times. I need the chefs to eat vegan food at O'cado, Gogoku, Jinya Ramen, The Vegan Joint (pancakes) etc Obviously these aren't all cuisines that are served at Hugo's but like... This is a terrific restaurant! I have eaten at the Hugo's in Studio City (they have another in West Hollywood) on several occasions. The service is friendly, and the food is always excellent. I have also had their food delivered to me at home, and it comes beautifully packaged and presented, hot and delicious. I especially like their Chicken Carciofi with artichoke hearts, spinach, cherry tomatoes and Kalamata olives in a lemon white wine sauce - absolutely yummy - as well as their Mexican salad and their Rosemary Potatoes. Great vegan options and super friendly staff!!! Molly and her staff at Hugos are absolutely delightful. I always have great, quick service there, even through the pandemic. Yesterday I tried the vegan Mac n cheese and it was delicious! Crispy onions with mushrooms and peas on top gave it so much flavor and texture. I like Hugo's, I really do, but they can and need to do better. The place is cozy, well situated with pretty good parking. The drinks are good. Staff couldn't be nicer. However, I have a really big issue with a place that charges 22 for a burger, features it on the menu and then doesn't deliver. O.K. So you can choose three items to go on the burger like goat cheese, bacon, even...plantains (good ones). These sides are actually great. It's the burger that is really so so poor, so what's the point? Yes, it's says it's "6oz" on the menu, (hello, a 1/4 pounder!) but it's cooked into the dead zone. Ask for medium rare, never happen. It was tougher than my shoe bottom. You can put all that good stuff on it, but the meat just ain't chewable, literally. Hugo's...go to 8 ounces, or even a half-pounder, offer two sides and fries (charge for the others if ordered), it will cost you the same and have a chance with your cooks, because it's fatter and may have some juice left in it when they are done with it, maybe. 6 ounces at your place doesn't have a chance. Oh, and the fried papas are good without that weird brown "fries powder" you put on them. Maybe ask before you serve that on them as a regular thing? Otherwise, Hugo's is a casual 4. I love that use all high quality ingredients. Most of their items are organic and they don't use seed oils. They use olive oil. They have Himalayan sea salt in their shakers at the table. The experience at Hugo's Studio City on the evening of April 4, 2026 has left me shattered. It was the absolute most disturbing experience I have ever had in a restaurant, and it was the doing of a manager who had absolutely no idea of how to do her job. Completely un-proffessional, mentally and emotionally hurtful and disturbing. The women bated my table of four into a heated and inappropriate conversation only because one of our party was not pleased with the service. Short staffed or not, the staff was not doing their job, and though in the long run, yes, it is a minor thing, and was a minor complaint, the supposed manager purposely escalated it into a heated confrontation which disturbed the entire staff and patrons. She purposely had a goal when she approached the table to take our payment (which was not really her job) to lecture us and bate us into a confrontation, offered no apology for her staff's poor service that night and stood their lecturing and berating all of us for daring at all to have a complaint. She also loudly announced that the staff is paid below minimum wage. This is either a lie or Hugo's is not following correct employment procedures as restaurant workers in CA are to be paid minimum wage. That was extremely unprofessional to announce to the entire restaurant. I have been coming to this restaurant for 5 years on a regular basis, and for some 20 year to the West Hollywood location. Of course, one of her staff made sure they said to never return as he hid behind her skirt, and why would any of us? Apologies from our party to the patrons. This manager should have gone to each table after and apologized. She may have been having a bad day, but you don't take it out on and lecture partrons, particularly when her staff were not doing their job, and she most definitely was not doing hers. Was here last night because we were staying across the street at the Mariposa since staff recommended it with a 10 percent discount. Nice to see a variety on the menu. Lots to choose from plus a nice kid's menu. The reason for the disappointment was first we ordered beer. Food came out and beer was never brought out. We had to ask about it half way through our meal and she finally remembered. The salad I ordered said it had chicken but it was maybe like 3-4 slices cubes so for a $20 salad, I expected there to be more. I would probably for my money's worth at Whole Foods across the street. Also, when we mentioned we stayed at the hotel for the 10% discount, she only gave us a discount off the beer, ($10 beer, only a $1.00 discount) the hotel staff told us it would be 10% discount off the total bill so to take a 10% discount off an item was shocking. I've visited this location a few times per year over the last twenty years. I stopped off yesterday (Tuesday) at around 5:00 with two friends. I am always impressed by their menu. They have a wide assortment of choices. Not quite as vast as a Cheesecake Factory's menu but pretty close. They also seem to be more health focused than your average restaurant. Service was great. We go to Hugo's every month or so. The food has always been good. Tonight, I had the turkey meatloaf, which was as tasty as always. I might be wrong; however, the portion size seemed smaller than the last time I ordered the turkey meatloaf. My other had her general go to: the veggie burger. Right or wrong, she believes that it was smaller than when she previously ordered it. She also thinks that the quality of her burger was not on par with previous times. I think I'm being nice with the three stars because my experience was two stars 's but other people in my group had a four-star experience, so I'm giving the place the benefit of the doubt. Putting aside it took around 40 minutes to get our food, the food was cold and the order was wrong. The menu was eclectic which is up to each person to judge. This place is cute and the service was good our waiter was attentive and nice, he even offered up suggestions and was able to ask the chef about our allergy concerns. I had a pan roasted salmon with a house salad and mash potatoes, all of that in my opinion was fine not mind blowing but fine. My wife ordered fried pickles which she could not eat because she said they tasted weird, and she also ordered the carbonara vegan and that honestly didn't have much taste. Every year, I take my mom somewhere special for her birthday. It will never be the same place twice nor a place that we've visited before. However, my mom and I lived in the San Fernando Valley for most of our lives. It only took 30 some years later to find this restaurant which was literally behind our back yard. I and many of you have written reviews for places that you barely tried when you move away. Well, we are always being schooled. For a restaurant that has been around for 40 years, this is Year 1 for me and I hope to come back for more! Let's have some breakfast at the simple, but sophisticated, Hugo's in Valley Village in the San Fernando Valley. Located on the northeast corner of Cold Water Canyon and Riverside Dr., you will find a green diner, home of Hugo's Restaurant. At one point, I can see this being a simple coffee diner where all the cool cats hung around. Well, it still is! The parking lot can fit about a dozen cars, but can fill up quickly in the morning and evenings. My wife and I had reservations for my mom's birthday. It was more of a surprise for my wife than for my mom because of the offerings Hugo's Restaurant probably want to spread. **At the time of this writing, Vaccination Cards are Required to eat INSIDE, otherwise, you can eat the patio area** We sat in the corner section of the patio with a view of Riverside Drive. We were introduced to our hostess, Hayley. She welcomed us and took our drink orders: My mom had a Cappuccino ($4.75), my wife had a Hot Chocolate ($4), and I had Hugo's Green Tea ($4). These drinks weren't just in simple cups, they were in large cup/bowls. Well worth the price you pay for. With my Green Tea, I had a brew/tea kettle type thing I have never used before. I guess I pump and try to get the Green Tea extracts out, but I loved every sip of the Green Tea. If you come in a Brunch Time, you can some of Hugo's Specialty Drinks from their famous Mimosas, Mojitos, and Spicy Michelada. Hugo's does offer soda, but with a place like this, go big with their smoothies, teas, or their lattes. With us coming at a prime time of 9am for breakfast, Hugo's brought out their big guns for their menu. From pancakes to Avocado Toast to oatmeal to breakfast scramble. It's time to digest all of this. My wife was super impressed to see VEGGIE BACON ($6) and had to order it! Hayley came back and my mom knew what she wanted to order because of her favorite musician, Bruno Mars. She ordered the Bruno Breakfast Scramble ($15.75), my wife ordered two chocolate chip pancakes ($10) with a cup of Rosemary Potatoes, and, of course Veggie Bacon ($6). Whoa...Whoa...Wait...she wasn't done....and she ordered a bottled Root Beer ($3). As for me, I ordered the Breakfast Burrito ($13.75) with organic fruit as my side. The wait for our food would be about 18-20 minutes as more and more guests arrived. As our food arrived, the sun decided to go hiding behind the clouds. We would've had instafamous food. Everyone's meal looked delicious. All I remember from my wife was: SHE WANTED TO ORDER MORE VEGGIE BACON! If we only knew who manufactured the veggie bacon, we can have some at home. Her two chocolate chips were pretty big and powdered with sugar. My mom's Bruno Breakfast Scramble was eggs scrambled in spinach, mushrooms, avocado, and bacon. As for me, my Breakfast Burrito was pretty simple, but had spice in every bite. It had eggs, bacon, cheese with a wheat tortilla. My meal came with it's own sauce that kicked the spice up another notch. Glad I chose the organic fruits (grapes, apples, strawberries), it helped calm my tongue just a little bit. I think I had the healthiest of them all with the Green Tea. When you pay, you can with your card or you can scan via QR Code and be done right away. Keep up with the times! 40 years is a long time that Hugo's has been hiding from me and now the secret is out. I didn't think Hugo's was so close to my previous home that I had it go undetected. When you keep low key, it happens, but my wife and I have a spot to have breakfast when we are in the valley. I know my mom had a special birthday meal with her loved ones. The food & service have always been amazing at Hugo's. Why I'm upset & aggravated & giving 3 stars at this current moment is because of their lack of transparency with additional hidden costs that make the customer look like an asshole. There is now a 3% surcharge added for back of house/kitchen staff on your receipt. Supposedly it's stated on the menu BUT it's not stated clearly or in big apparent letters to let you know BEFORE your bill comes at the end of the meal. In which it states AFTER you have been given the bill, if you want this charge removed you can have it removed. Additionally, I ordered a side of ranch 2x for various reasons and purposes not realizing I would be charged xtra for dressing to my meal. The waiter didn't let me know up front about these additional costs. I might sound like I'm quibbling & I might be however- transparency from an organization that charges $22 for a burger would be nice. Also- it would be advantageous to let your staff have a taste of new menu options such as the passion fruit sorbet. When I asked the waiter if he had tried the desert & if he likes it, he hasn't a clue because he hadn't tried it. This is lame. Your wait staff should have a taste of everything to be able to let the customers know their personal experience and to make it a great one for the customer. Also- taking the churros off your menu was a big mistake. They were some of the best in town. Dumb move. I recommend putting them back on your menu. Thank you for your consideration of having more transparency within your organization. Having your waitstaff being more transparent. Having charges be more upfront. We came here for reservations for a party of 10 & It was already loud in here but of course it was Sunday , they got mimosas but not bottomless. They sat us right on time and ordered our drinks. I got the horchata latte hot, I recommend ! For my food I ordered the huevos rancheros and we're not spicy at all, so ask for a side of jalapeños. As for my rice and beans they didn't have much flavor. I will definitely come back again to try another menu on the item.
