Korean BBq chicken with a side of pickles.
Keith H.

Really good lunch joint. Loved the Korean BBq crispy chicken sandwich and homemade pickle side. So tasty with Gochujang sauce was so tasty and the crisp on the chicken was so perfect. Loved the homemade kimchi they also added to the sandwich. Got to try this place!!! Service was also great.

KOREAN CHICKEN SANDWICH

This part of Philly is rife with chain businesses that you can find just about anywhere (and definitely in Brooklyn). We were looking for more local flavor, and Huda has that in spades. This bright, welcoming, open air sandwich shop is staffed by great guys offering great service, and a tight menu with tasty treats. We opted for the shortrib grilled cheese, the Korean fried chicken sandwich, and some chicken fingers and fries for the tiny people I have to drag everywhere since my wife squeezed them out. The sandwiches have - if I'm nitpicking (and I am) - some very slight construction issues (not enough bun for the chicken, and the grilled cheese is too bready and overtoasted for my ideal), but the flavors are BANGIN'. I was not sad in the least about either choice, and we devoured every last bite. The chicken fingers are excellent as are the fries, although they did have a couple scallions which I appreciated, but made my four year old scream bloody murder and embarrassed us all thoroughly. Anyway, this is a great spot, and shout out to the sweethearts behind the counter who let us use their bathroom and served us with a smile.

SPICY CHICKEN SANDWICH

Small shop with limited seating but delicious sandwiches! We stopped by for late lunch and ordered the spicy chicken and chicken parm. Both were really good. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and tender. The milk bread was so soft and pillowy. Although, the sandwich became very messy to eat very quickly as the soft bread lost its structural integrity. Overall I'd 100% come back for another sandwich.

I tried the smash burger and it was messy but delicious! The pickled green tomatoes and milk bun really took this to the next level. I wish there was a bit less special sauce because i needed a bunch of napkins, but no sweat. Next time ill order the sauce on the side. Great burger, but be warned- food coma setting in!

Grilled chicken burger

Small sandwich/burger joint in center city. Was passing by and just wanted something quick for dinner. I was feeling like chicken, so I went for their grilled chicken burger. Perhaps that was not the right choice honestly. Should have just gone for their recommendation of the spicy chicken sandwich. Anyway I got what I got and the grilled chicken patty was just a salt bomb. Flavor was okay but just way too salty. I definitely needed to hydrate after that. If I'm craving a burger and I'm passing by, I might try this place again.

SMASH BURGER "HUDA STYLE"
Kinte C.

Huda has long been on my list of newer restaurants to check out. Amongst the many burger joints around the city, there aren't many that offer an elite smash burger. Huda seeks to change that narrative. ENVIRONMENT The restaurant is tucked away in a small location on 18th Street. It's quite easy to miss in the shadow of the larger Continental restaurant nearby. Despite there being only a handful of tables, I had no trouble finding a seat. Service was average at best as evidenced by the overflowing trash can which needed attention the entirety of my visit. The didn't take much away from the experience. FOOD The burger was tremendous! Juicy! Well-Seasoned! All on an incredibly soft potato bun! I enjoyed a salad as well but the burger is the main attraction at a place such as this(10/10). I didn't try the fries which is quite unusual by own standards but the smash burger trumped all of my expectations. Happy eats!

APPLE FROSTED CINNAMON BUN

Walking around Center City and urge for a good burger suddenly hit me. Friends had mentioned their smash burger before so I thought I'd try out Huda. LOVED everything about this place. Of course you walk in and they are playing some classic songs that are right up my alley. Don't think I've ever tried a burger with a milk bun before but this was a real treat. Well seasoned, cheesy, and smothered in a rich tangy sauce. Excellent. I'm trying to stay discipline with my diet (but the Eagles are going to the Super Bowl) so I tossed in one of the Apple covered Cinnabons. It was other worldly. Best of all not too sweet and bursting with goodness. Staff behind the counter were also great to chat with. Very clean establishment. Can't wait to try some of the other menu items.

Spicy Chicken Milk Bun: pickled chilis, southwest dressing, lettuce, tomato
Chi C.

Nestled on 18th, Huda makes for a great corporate lunch spot or site to pang that chicken sandwich craving. The house-made milk bun was delicious and I enjoyed their Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Being nitpicky, I would've personally liked it a bit spicier, but it was still very flavorful. There is the Nashville Hot alternative option as well, which I may try the next time to get the extra kick. I think there's just a tad bit too much sauce, but it was still a great meal. Fries were also crispy and seasoned well, and I appreciated the varied selection of sauces. You'll get a sizeable portion for your order, particularly for the fries. The folks working were also helpful in sauce suggestions and delivering the food to our tables directly. Overall, a great casual bite spot!

SPICY CHICKEN SANDWICH

Was in Philly and this was the top yelped restaurant in the neighborhood where I was wandering around. The guy inside was super nice, let me use the restroom and gave me good recommendations for food. The spicy chicken sandwich was excellent. Cool inside as well, was a high quality yet quick meal. Thanks guys!

MAITAKE MUSHROOM sandwich - the bomb dot com
Liz K.

I loved the crispy maitake sandwich and the fact that there's a sink station for hand-washing! You'll need it! The sandwiches are greasy, have sauces (mostly mayo-based), and all fall apart at some point -- lean in to the mess and just scrub up afterward. A couple of knocks: it would be nice to have more than one meatless option, the sandwiches were all very salty, and the beverage selection is limited to some really gross canned "performance" tea, soda, or water. Iced or hot teas would be a great addition!

CINNAMON BUN

I've been wanting to come here forever. Finally had the chance today. The French fries were the surprise hit! Perfection. Loved the Mott burger with the pickled jalapeños. The cinnamon roll was also super tasty. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

Not tough but a nice, soft seeded sub roll. Seeing it arrive was a little overwhelming but I kinda thought the thing was light and was easy to finish off 1/2. The Fig and Pig - the fig jam was outstanding. Great sweetness with the saltiness from the prosciutto and then to top it off, the crunch of the cutlets. Excellent. As I was leaving, I saw a cutlet, with mutz, broccoli rabe, and roasted red peppers. I WILL be back for that. That looked amazing. Service was very friendly, prompt. We sat down and within a few minutes, our sandwiches came out. Looks like they were working on takeout / delivery orders and I thought, oh crap, am i behind all of that. But I guess they were either done or they prioritize the tables. Place was small but at 2:30 or so, it had a couple of tables open. They had tables outside but a little warm and in the sun for that. They keep things relatively clean. I personally lean on the cheesesteak purist side of the scale, and so although this cheesesteak tastes pretty darn good, I am of the opinion that most things that you slap truffle on will instantly be above average good, just because it tastes like truffle. Otherwise, the cheesesteak here is pretty close to slightly above average-- and personally I'd spend my money elsewhere if it weren't for the novelty. Otherwise, the roast pork here is underrated and overshadowed by its truffle cousin. Grab that if you get overpowered by truffle flavor easily. To-go orders have been consistently on time and ready once I arrived. Would gladly order here again, but would definitely prefer something pure, ex. without truffle.

Hershel's Corned Beef Reuben was way better than any sandwich I ever had there. The cut of meat is thicker and the portion sizes are huge. My husband thinks he heard the guy say it was three-quarters of a pound of corned beef. I believe it because it definitely felt like there was at least 6 ounces on my half of the sandwich. I'm glad we decided to split it. It was totally worth the price that we paid for it. We arrived around 4:00 pm on a Thursday. It was busy at the market, but not as busy as it was on Saturday. We were tossed between the Reuben and the Rachel. The difference is that the Rachel has cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. I don't think you can go wrong either way. It didn't take long for the order to be ready. The service was great. They split the sandwiches and wrapped them individually. We each got a pickle spear. We didn't have to go too far to find seats. They have bar seating along the back counter that's specifically for their customers. The Reuben was very tasty. I even liked the pickle. I think they have desserts, but we had no room for it. I'd love to return one day to try their pastrami, and maybe even the breakfast. I wish we would have had more time to try one of these sandwiches on Challah bread. The menu has a little something for anyone craving a Jewish style deli experience. It's worth a visit when at Reading Terminal Market.

It's really hard to pick a clear winner for cheesesteak sandwiches in Philadelphia. But for me, this is THE PLACE where you come for a roast pork sandwich. With that said, their cheesesteak sandwich is also one of the top handful around town. I think my first visit to John's was back in the late 90's after some average sandwiches at Pat's and Geno's. It was eye opening because now I did believe the hype about sandwiches in Philly. Since then, I have gone through all the big names in Philly, yet John's Roast Pork is still in my regular rotation. Few days ago, I stopped by for a couple sandwiches and it did not disappoint as usual. After all these years, two huge sandwiches were still under $30. The large cheesesteak with onions and cooper sharp was about $16, while the small roast pork sandwich with spinach and sharp provolone was $12. As for taste, the Cheesesteak (9/10) was incredible. Well seasoned beef mixed harmoniously with the onions and cooper sharp for a terrible bite. The sesame seed bread is a bit firmer than what you'll find at Angelo's or Delassandro's, but it's still great. I know the locals believe that the Roast Pork Sandwich (8/10) is the true Philly sandwich. However, it's not my thing necessarily, but their version is quite delicious. The fluffy hoagie is dunked into the pork au jus, which keeps the sandwich moist and juicy. The pork is yummy, especially paired with spinach and sharp provolone. I keep saying that I gotta get back here to try their meatballs and chicken steaks, but it's hard to go away from what you know are consistently awesome. Maybe next time.

If you're coming to Philly and want to try an iconic local sandwich, you NEED to put this place on your list. The Roast Pork sandwich was phenomenal. The pork was incredibly juicy, packed with flavour, and you could really taste the quality. The brine they use is fantastic, giving the meat so much flavour without taking away from the pork itself. Even the bun deserves some love because it was excellent and brought the whole sandwich together perfectly. You can tell there's a lot of care and attention to detail going into the food here. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks and really enjoyed those, too! Another highlight was getting to see the owner and briefly chat with him. He seemed like a genuinely great dude, and it was cool getting to meet someone behind a place that clearly takes so much pride in what they do. Overall, John's Roast Pork is an absolute MUST when visiting Philadelphia. The quality, flavour, and care that go into the food make it easy to understand why this place has such a legendary reputation. Honestly, if you're planning a Philly food trip, John's Roast Pork and Angelo's Pizzeria near the Italian Market are the two spots you absolutely cannot miss!
