I stopped in here for late lunch on sunday with my son. Service was awful. From what i can see, the restaurant was fairly empty but everything was so slow. I had to ask for someone to take our order. And same for getting the check. When the check came, i immediately put my card in and the server still didn't return in a timely manner to pick it up. The food was fine. I got the pizza with pepperoni, goat cheese, and honey- it was a bit overly crispy for my taste. My son's pepperoni pizza was pretty good. Oh how I love Howell's let thee count the ways! My sister introduced me to this gem for the first time after we saw Moulin Rouge at the Fox Theater a couple years ago and it's been a place I frequent when visiting the Atlanta area. It has an excellent food score, great ambiance with indoor seating as well as an outdoor courtyard perfect for those hot Summer nights! We always start with an order of the pub fries which are fried to perfection and covered in grated Parmesan cheese yum!! I get the Cesar salad and my husband and I split the Bee Me Up Scotty pizza which is so very tasty!! Pepperoni, arugula, and cheese topped with a hot honey drizzle so good!! My sister gets the heirloom pizza which looked so good today when it came out! My kiddo got the fettuccini Alfredo which was chefs kiss I would 100% order it again. Also, weird side note they have fantastic iced tea. If it was dinner I would have gotten a glass of The Crossings Sav Blanc because I just love it. First time here, really wanted to like it. Very surprised that it took so long to get our food. Restaurant wasn't that busy, waited much longer than anticipated to get lukewarm food. After sending the burger and fries back because they were cold, it appeared that they just tried to warm it up and send it back out. The manager never came over to check on our experience which was another disappointment. Had we just had someone check in to say sorry about the service, that would have made a huge difference. The patio looks like it would be nice on a warm day but today was to cold. The parking lot was full due to construction so it took a while to find a spot. I tried the shrimp and grits, man mosa, ice toddy, chicken fingers, morning glory pizza, and the ice tea. I recommend the drinks, morning glory pizza (with pepper and salt) , and chicken fingers. As for the shrimp it came out overcooked. The sauce was great and the grits, not as creamy as I wanted them to be. Warning, you must start the parking session and then get the code to comp. the time. Stopped in on Saturday after a few hours at Bobby Jones. We must have been the first few customers for dinner service, we were seated quickly. Big shout out to Josh, our server-he is fantastic! So patient and considerate with our first time questions. Started w cocktails: Mango Margarita(sans spicy), and an Old Fashion. The smoked mozzarella sticks were a hit with our teen! The smash burger and tavern burger were also very good. BYO Pizza was decent, a lil pricey when you add up the $3 per item charges. Save room for the chocolate lava cake! UPDATE!!!! I received a reply from Howell's Kitchen & Bar soon after my review posted. Manager, Ryan, asked me to detail my experience. (Also, I reached out to Uber Eats - no refund & said they are "working on drivers not canceling so often". Not holding my breath.) Ryan & I corresponded a few times and I wanted to update my review to reflect that he was kind, helpful & made things right. I will definitely be back! Usually, I love this place. I've taken out of town guests; I've gone alone and with friends. I ordered the tavern burger thru Uber Eats on Valentine's evening - to treat myself. CAVEAT: Uber Eats' original driver apparently canceled (a trend that realllly pisses me off!!) and a new driver was picking up order which, all told, took way too long. However, despite the burger being cold, there were more disappointments: the "slice" of tomato was terrible. Very small, not even a slice; barely a sliver. The red onions? Could barely see them they were so tiny. I added my own tomato & onion. When I tried to cut the burger in half, one side of the bun literally fell apart, making a big mess. First time checking out Howell's Kitchen and Bar. We came for brunch to celebrate my mom. The interior is beautiful. Very spacious and open. Our server Dre was great. My family is full of talkers and Dre did a great job of popping in to be helpful while being respectful of our conversations. The food was really good. I enjoyed the hangover hash. Did not enjoy my experience there last night. Pros: venue is nice. And free valet Cons: Our waitress. Not sure of her name because she never introduced herself but she had maybe braids or locs? She seemed to have a bad attitude from the start and made our time there unpleasant. I ended up skipping the desert I was going to have just because I didn't want to continue to deal with her poor service. Service: was slow. I was almost finished my meal before I got my drink. I'm writing this review for the pizza and the pizza only!!! OMG the Philly cheesesteak pizza is the BEST pizza I've had probably in my life. The flavors were so unique (there's spicy mayo drizzled on top) and blended together so well. It was light and refreshing but still filling. Creamy as well. I had to go back 2 days later to have it again. This was a seasonal pizza but I pray to the Heavens above that they make this a regular menu item. I got the chicken cordon blue pizza which was on special, my sister got the herb grilled chicken, and my friend got the Tavern burger. All of the food was delicious and very well priced. The total for my meal after tax was $13, it is so rare to find a well portioned lunch for under twenty dollars. Additionally, our server was very attentive while not being overly imposing. As we approached the restaurant, we noticed the parking lot was very small. Thankfully, they offer overflow parking nearby--located by the McDonald's and the post office. We had to do a quick U-turn when leaving the main lot, then made a left toward the overflow area. It's just a short walk from there to the restaurant. From the lot, the door we saw looked more like a side entrance, but we gave it a try and were able to walk right in. Inside, we were a little confused about where to check in, but we eventually found the host stand located near the center of the space, close to the bar. I let the hostess know I had a reservation for 11:30. Although we arrived about 30 minutes late, she was incredibly accommodating, acknowledged the reservation, and led us through the dining room. We were stopping in for a quick bite before heading to a beer festival and requested an outdoor table. They had plenty of patio seating with a well-thought-out layout. We were seated in a great spot--ample shade provided by a large umbrella, perfect for the warm day. Our server, Brandon W., greeted us promptly and gave us time to look over the menu. He mentioned he'd be happy to answer any questions we had. The drink menu featured several specialty cocktails, an unexpectedly solid beer selection, and some creative food options. Wifey ordered the Margherita pizza and a Howell's Lager, brewed by SweetWater. We ended up sharing the lager since we knew there were more beers to come later . I went with the Clucker Chicken Sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a water. The food came out quickly. My sandwich was delicious--crispy chicken, great flavor from the mayo-mustard blend, and nice texture from the slaw. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy. Wifey really enjoyed her pizza--the crust was crisp and well-executed. Brandon W. was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and clearly knew the menu well. Can't believe I haven't reviewed this business yet! I've been to Howell's numerous times and every visit has been pleasant. Ironically, the last time I had food from there was after ordering via UberEats so these are the only pics I have for now. The menu consists of elevated bar food and delicious pizzas, beyond your ordinary options. The cocktail menu is also well thought out. For my delivery order, I kept it simple with a Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders. I always come here for my mozzarella stick fix because I like the slight smoky flavor and how these are more like logs than little sticks. Really, all the food is solid. We live in the neighborhood have been coming to Howell's for a couple of years and used to love it. But I think management or ownership has changed and now when we go the host acts like he is doing us a favor to find a table for us when we don't have a reservation (& they no longer allow day of reservations). Also, they have been chronically understaffed which makes service slow. It wasn't just a one evening thing... which to me that means people are quitting because they don't like working there any more. Also we have had major delays with one persons dish in our party the last two visits (to the point that last time the rent is had finished). There was an apology, but nothing was comped, not even our one dessert. That also indicates to me that staff are affraid to go to management when there has been a mistake. We will no longer be going there. Which is a shame since it's so close. read more

Love the different specials every month and usually service is 10/10 depending on who you get. Very cheesy and creamy. Definitely a dish I'd like to make at home! Upon seeing the menu I already knew I had to try their Tavern burger and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. The manager Curtis stopped by several times to see if we were doing well which was very much appreciated. We have a larger dog and sometimes the atmosphere is not welcoming, but they were so kind. Went on a Sunday afternoon around 2 with my kids. I live right around the corner and was recommended by a parent who raved about the chicken tenders. Seated fairly quickly and the place was clean including the bathroom. The bar was full and ppl seemed to be enjoying themselves- made a mental note to come back without the kiddos and sit at the bar next time. Food was a 10 out of 10. Portions were good. I hate feeling like I paid so much for some food and only got a little bit of food. The nachos were really good it stood no chance tbh. They didn't not skimp out on the chicken, cheese and chip ratio. When we arrived (we had reservations), we were quickly seated in a spot inside that was right by the opened windows so we also got to experience the fresh air dining. Stopped here for the first time for a quick lunch after work and I was thoroughly impressed. It did take us a while to be greeted when we walked in even though the restaurant was almost empty but when we were seated the experience was turned around. Very spacious and they have both indoor, outdoor and bar seating. We started off with the nachos with chicken and even though they didn't arrive with chicken on them they were wonderful. Even though they were covered in queso, the chips were still crispy, and you got all toppings on every chip. For my entree I got the Nashville hot chicken pizza and OMG. I was going back and forth between this one and the spicy festival but the waiter suggested the hot chicken as it was a newer menu item. It came with smoky Howell's hot butter, fresh mozzarella, pizza cheese, Nashville hot chicken, coleslaw and pickles. It did not disappoint at all. One of my worries was that the coleslaw and pickles would be piled on top and overwhelm the rest of the pizza but there was a perfect balance between everything. Great low-key spot to have dinner! Our waitress was very polite and service was very efficient. We ordered a few basics because we weren't super hungry, and we were definitely not disappointed. The grown-up chicken tenders were well seasoned, and the chicken was very juicy. Probably one of the most disappointing lunches I've had in a long time I ordered fish and chips and my friend ordered a Cobb salad. I alerted the server that the the fries were greasy and the fish had way too much batter on it. There was very little fish. Unless this was an unusual situation. My husband and I love going to Howell's. The food is always great, the servers are friendly, the drinks are always superb and even the valets are nice. We did have an odd experience tonight, however. We came in later on Sunday night, about 9ish. We sat at the bar. There was glassware all over so we had assumed that a lot of people had just gotten up. The female bartender was at the far end of the bar talking and laughing with a man. We waited for a bit and before we could get any service we clearly saw her consume a shot. They did not have a happy hour menu, but they did have specialty drinks and items you could choose from the menu. Appetizers are right up my alley, because they always serve large portions to share.
