Have been back a few times and the food is consistently good. I have a hard time not getting a burger, because they are always excellent. My fiancé got the Mac attack (which I've been wanting to try) and it was excellent as well. The garlic ranch is still fantastic. The Houndstooth, formally known as the Duck Inn, is an absolute gem! I am not opposed to dive bars with dive bar food, which is what the Duck Inn was prior to its new itiration. In fact the missus, friends and I spent many nights enjoying the mediocre food and copius amounts of affordable libations one might expect from a once-upon-a cool bar. We loved Duck Inn. As time oft' leads to, we moved out of the area and had not visited in the last 4 years! In that time an old bar found new life! At least in the food since you won't see much change in the atmosphere itself. The menu was well thought out with a variety of burgers, sammies, and appetizers. Many items you would see on a regular bar menu, but there were some atypical items as well, the made to order chicharrónes, smoked hot-wings, rusty sliders (sliders on smoked jalapeno biscuits), or crab cake po boi for example. I had the wings which came out nice and crispy with THE original buffalo sauce which is simply Franks hot sauce and butter. As a side I ordered the the chicharrónes and 1/2 a 6th Street Salad. the skins were still crackling when they arrived, and the slad was clearly NOT from a bag. Fresh cucumbers, carrots, and a great spicy ranch as dressing on the side. I skipped the pickled beets. The meal was excellent!! Especially since I am on Keto. The rest of the table marveled at the quality of their food as well, especially the burger ... well seasoned and prepared perfectly! Give them a try! I know I will return when in the neighborhood. After seeing the stellar reviews of houndstooth I knew I had to try! I called up my lunch buddy and we headed down there. First of all for those wondering like I was, it's across from Jack in the box on 6th between chambers and Garfield. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Becky . She was friendly and helpful and gave us a quick rundown of the history! It was kind of cool! Turns out the owner is actually the chef! The food was great! My friend and I split the bb king burger and the Mac n cheese. My only complaint which was a small one is that the burger needed some lettuce and fixings as well as it was a bit over cooked (not hockey puck but not medium well) but the flavor was spot on with well seasoned beef and yummy caramelized onions. The Mac was oowey gooey and delicious we had our with bacon I highly recommend! The Moscow mule was delicious and not too citrusy! read more

I see this place came highly rated, so maybe it was an off night. There was no table service. We ordered from the bartender. The food came out and while the wings were (spicy but) good and the tacos were OK, the macaroni and cheese that someone had raved about was inedible. It was just a bowl of gloppy melted cheese with some overcooked macaroni in it. I love cheese, and this was gross. My husband went to pay and was going to tell the bartender about the mac & cheese, but the bartender was talking to other people and paying no attention. read more

We entered the bar excited about the 5-star rating. There were people at the bar eating, including a woman with a dog in her lap. No one greeted us, so we took a seat at a table. After 5 minutes we moved to the bar, thinking we might not have the restaurant's routine correct. The bar tenders never acknowledged our presence. I have been here a couple of times for lunch and it has been great! The food is excellent and reasonably priced compared to other places in Eugene. It has not been busy when I went but is was around 11:30. The bartender was also the server. Service was quick and he did check in once during the meal. I plan to visit every time I am in town. Bubba Clubba - had it last night for the first time... and it was great! A heaping mound of tots in the middle, my sando 1/4 on the outside and a nice dill pickle cut in half. From the perfectly toasted sourdough bread to the bacon and garlic aioli - another tasty treasure from this place! We arrived at 11pm and got an hour of darts in, ate our incredible food and threw back a few of our favorite beverages! My husband's shroom burger was juicy and deliciou and fries were crispy My Mac and cheese was decantedly cheesy. And a literal bulletin to the heart with the added bacon as suggested by our waiter. Far from a fancy place but we wanted a good hamburger. The hamburgers were delicious as well as the onion rings & fries. They were short staffed it took a while to get waited on. There appeared to be two waitresses & they were busy with the bar but friendly service once she came to our table. If we go again we will order at the bar. I think that this place will surprise most people who walk in here. From the outside it looks like a pretty average location. Inside it looks to me a little like a time capsule back a few decades but once you order the food? Wow, what a surprise. My Husband and I recently got Houndstooth for dinner through delivery and its ok. My husband got the BB King Burger and I got the shroom Burger. Both were generous portion sizes with the size of the Burger and with the amount of Tots/Fries that were included. The burgers were both dry, which was sad since both did have sauce on them. The fries and tots were supposed to be spicy but had no flavor. Overall good portion sizes and good prices but mediocre meal. read more

Went here tonight for a quick bite with my dad. He was happy with their awesome IPA selection. The food was really good. I had the Duke burger which has onion rings, bacon, bbq sauce, and cheese. It was delicious as were the tots which I dipped in their awesome ranch. My dad had the OG burger and beer and cheddar soup. He enjoyed them both. They had a lot of TVs with sports on and Keno. In Eugene for one night staying at a hotel. Craving a salad of substance along with sandwich and that's exactly what we got from Houndstooth. The salad was beautiful field greens, beets, carrots, red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons and we chose the delish home made French dressing. A large size was huge and plenty for two to share. We also ordered the French dip and tots and YUM - delish bread, meat and horse sauce. I searched on yelp for a full hour plus before picking a place for our to go dinner. No plastic packaging is impt to me and they do not use plastics. Our order was ready on time and we highly recommend if you are looking for salad and a sandwich. The next time in the area we will try their burgers. Pricing is also very reasonable which is hard to find these days. Thank you yelp for directing me to Houndstooth!! This place is such a gem. The food is absolutely phenomenal, and much better than I can get in most restaurants around town. This place might be my favorite burger period. I never even liked burgers that much before, and I dream about this burger. The fries are fantastic, the salads are fresh, the Caesar salad comes with a poached egg...there are so many good things. Also the ambiance is great, lots of TVs to watch any game you like, a fun sci-fi channel with weird old movies, pool tables, and even some arcade games. The man over the pa said a terrible joke and I remarked "wow" which the bartender thought was directed towards her and she looked at me and said "you can't wait now" in the bitchiest attitude possible. I then explained how it was not towards her or her service, guess it wasn't good enough for her cause she then got more attitude and said "now you really gonna wait". And the. Proceeded to take everyone else's order before even coming back to me. She then referred me to as child and after she gave me my order she told me to "go away child".
