My daughter and I stopped in for a cup of coffee while on a shopping excursion at around 11 am on a Saturday. We were the only people in line when we arrived, but the indoor seating was already pretty full. I ordered an iced latte and she got an iced vanilla latte. We hadn't planned to sit, so we headed back out to continue shopping. We noticed there was plenty of outdoor seating, but mostly in the sun. We both liked our coffees!
Cute little coffee shop in the Domain. Great place to hangout with a few friends. Service is quick and friendly. I got the lavender latte and quite enjoyed it.
Went to Houndstooth this Friday for wfc! And it turned into a great surprise. Got a lavender latte which was smooth, lightly floral, really well balanced. Also picked up a tall buckwheat-based muffin after chatting with the barista (was hesitant at first), but wow! it was amazing. Perfect sweetness, super soft, and honestly better than a lot of regular flour bakery stuff. Definitely coming back for that again.
I like houndstooth a lot! They make good coffee and have wine and beer in the evening. The staff is always super quick at this location. They have a nice outdoor section and cool aesthetic inside.
The best coffee spot in Domain, Austin. Quick service, nice and airy. I picked up coffee for 3 consecutive days from Houndstooth once I found the place (recommended by a coworker). The peppermint mocha is amazing, and so are the breakfast tacos that they offer from Tacodeli. I just discovered Breakfast tacos and I am pretty impressed, they definitely beat the breakfast burritos which I never seem to ever be able to finish. The pumpkin yogurt granola was another mind-blowing find here. Pretty quiet in the mornings so it makes for a good working/relaxing with your cuppa coffee spot.
Houndstooth is a small coffeeshop chain which has locations in Austin and Dallas. The shop I go to most, is the one on Rock Rose at the Domain, as my wife works down the road from it. I've been going to this place on and off for just over a year. The staff are really nice and the place is kept clean and tidy. It has a simple, modern design which works, plus they also sell merch if you want a cup, hat or t-shirt! The location isn't very big, but there's plenty of seating inside, as well as outlets to use if you're going here to study, browse or just relax. They also sell a range of beer and wines, so you can get a lil chaser of your favourite tipple, which is great because it's open from 7am-9pm, so you can walk right out onto the main road which is full of bars if you want to keep the party going. The coffee is rich and tasty, plus they do a small selection of pastries and breakfast tacos (Tacodeli) in the morning. Warning, the Tacos go QUICK if you're looking start with the handheld bundles of joy. Overall, it's a great coffeshop for the coffee itself, its atmosphere, placement, and selection of drinks.
Houndstooth is in all likelihood the best coffee shop at the Domain. Specializing in high quality beans and offering a rotating selection of single origin espresso, the baristas working there are usually knowledgeable and, so far, after several years visiting, have never messed up a coffee order of mine. The overall ambiance is casual and the staff is a special kind of blasé hipster you almost exclusively find working in third wave coffee shops. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because you can usually count on these individuals to do their job well. Just don't expect too much enthusiasm and you won't be disappointed. The location on Rock Rose Ave is convenient and the shop stays open a bit later than some other businesses around. Kudos. The only thing missing to Houndstooth is a soul. It could be more cozy and welcoming. But if you're just going for the coffee, it's great.
I've come a couple times with friends to study/hang out. It's not terribly busy on the weekends, especially if you come early around 9am. Their menu looks pretty solid but I've only had their matcha latte and it hits the spot. The default is unsweetened but you can ask for honey/sugar and the latte comes out warm. If you like your drinks hot, def let your barista know.
I met a new friend here and absolutely loved it. My chocolate chai latte was made to perfection and incredible! Probably my favorite in Austin tied with Patika. The bean n cheese taco I ordered also hit the spot and was from Taco Deli. Highly recommend that too. The baristas were nice and answered my friends questions. The atmosphere was chill with a mix of college aged and CEO type folks. I'll be back for sure!
The good: really good coffee. I tried the coffee and lemonade combination and it tasted pretty good, I don't think there's a place that can pull off this combo well The bad: The wifi, even when connected, was so slow that I had to use the internet from the Sweetgreen next door. Also, all of the charging ports were for USB outlets, which meant I couldn't charge my laptop while working.
We had a matcha latte and an americano (time piece blend). I was surprised on how fast both drinks were made, which made me a bit doubtful about their quality. The matcha was OK, nothing different from any other place. The americano was smooth but the water added was too hot, had to ask for ice to bring it to drinking temperature. Service was polite but my daughter saw the barista pull something out of his teeth with his fingers right before making my coffee ... The space is small, modern and quiet enough for study or to have a conversation.
I came here with a friend while in Austin. We were in Domin, looked for local coffee places and found this one. Super cute and cozy! Coffee was really good. Service was also great! I highly recommend it
I work around the area, but I rarely come to Houndstooth because I love trying new coffee places. My boyfriend and I stopped by before my work to grab a coffee, and I was really impressed with their classic iced vanilla latte. The flavor was perfect, and it was just as creamy as I typically prefer it. I will definitely keep Houndstooth in mind the next time I'm in need of caffeine and at the Domain. Their staff is really friendly too, and I ADORE their chocolate chip cookies with sea salt.

Okay coffee, laid back vibe, great service. Overall would come back for networking or meeting friends, not so much for the coffee. read more
Super cute coffee shop in the domain! The hot chocolate was immaculate and the vibes were good. It's not the best place to study though, because there's no outlets and the tables are a bit small, but still good if you're not gonna be there for long, reading, or catching up with friends. Overall, solid recommendation! read more

Pretty coffee shop in the trendy Domain. We were wanting to stroll around and have an evening drink, so we stopped in Houndstooth for an Irish coffee. Irish coffee has hot coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar, and cream. There's no need to stir it, you simply sip the coffee through the cream. It was delicious. If you've been to the Buena Vista in San Francisco where they are famous for their Irish coffee, I would say you can't compare the two. I like my Irish coffee in a glass mug rather than a ceramic mug, and you can't beat the rustic, historic atmosphere of the Vista at the end of the wharf. All that said, simply close your eyes, sip away, and the drink is just as good. Check it out. Tell me what you think. read more
Love this place! The staff is so helpful and friendly, they make you feel at home. The coffee is always amazing and the ambiance is wonderful as well. This would be a fun place to be a regular if we loved in the area. Bright, charming, friendly. Such a great spot in the Domain. read more
I have been visiting many coffee shops around where I live and Houndstooth was the next one I needed to check out. And, let me tell you, I was very happy with my visit. Houndstooth Coffee has some of the best coffee I have had in Austin. I have tried their Iced Lattes, hot lattes, and their Iced chai. All three drinks were absolutely delicious. Their chai latte is the best one I have had in ATX, it was deliciously sweet with cinnamon but not too overpowering. The lattes were very good and not too sweet. Houndstooth coffee is located in the domain, so I was able to find parking. I had come to houndstooth to get some work done and was able to until my laptop died. There is a lack of charging ports throughout the coffee shop and even the ones on the floor were not working. The tables are also a little small to co-work with people so it is not a great place to get work done. I think if you want to catch up with a friend or bring your book, it is perfect but if you need to get work done on your computer it might get more difficult. I went one time when it was very busy and the internet was also very slow. I will becoming back to grab some of their coffee again, but not to work on my computer. read more

Came here after a horrible experience at Coffee & Crisp Cafe around the corner. Friendly, engaging baristas and bright, open interior. Lavender Cappuccino- mmmm, rich and delicious. Very happy things worked out the way they did or I probably would've missed this gem before ending my Austin visit. read more

This is a pretty decent coffee shop relocated in the central Domain ATX. The store is a bar + coffee + tea combined concept and they have plenty of coffee tables/working stations in addition to the bar seats. I like how they blend a lot of wood elements into the store design. The warm hues and lightings have made this cute coffee shop cozy and homey. It's usually not too loud during the daytime so it's also a good spot to work/study. I ordered black coffee and hot latte today and their unique taste of honey-processed beans really stands out. read more

Every time we visit Austin, we always come to this coffee shop at the Domain. It's a delightful place to stop by and get a drink. The place looks spacious, and the decor is very modern. Sadly it's still covid time. We can't sit inside and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. So we just ordered to-go. If you like, you can sit at one of tables right outside. I got a pour-over Guatemala coffee upon recommendation of the barista. It was very smooth and not too strong with a nice nutty flavor. We also got a cold brew and a latte. For the latte, the barista made latte art. I thought they would do it only in ceramic cup. But covid has changed things. We also ordered something we don't normally do, which was popcorn. Instead of the regular butter flavor, we asked to sprinkle with salt and pepper. It tasted really good. It is a good substitute if you don't want a sweet pastry to go with your drink. I've visited a couple of other Houndstooth cafe shops in Dallas and also another location in Austin. We always enjoy the drinks and the friendly service. P.S. They welcome dogs. Our dog got a surprise treat. So everyone walked out happy. read more

In short: Pretty decent cappuccino, not so friendly service and pricey, it's $6 + tips for a 5-6oz cappuccino. read more
Super friendly staff and quality coffee! And I always, always respect baristas that throw in some good latte art. I've tried to learn how to do it and it isn't easy! It's usually pretty busy but their efficient. The weather was cool so we enjoyed the patio. It's a great spot for people and dog watching! read more

decent latte - good place to catchup with friends; multiple indoor and outdoor seating! not so much of a location to work unless your laptop is fully charged! The only outlet they have are usb ports and there aren't any other plug :( read more

What a great concept of place. Coffee with cocktails. I loved their Americano strong, yet smooth. And couldn't leave without trying the Danish. Of course my husband had the red eye, something interesting with tequila and other good flavors in it. Pet friendly and also casual. Can't have a lot of the lattes since milk is not my friend for a while now. But I'm curious about their cocktails. May have to come back to try some more. read more

Great coffee shop in the area whether you're taking to go, looking for a space to study or get work done, or meeting up with friends. They have espresso drinks and drip coffee, chai, matcha, etc, just no pour-overs. Their espresso machine is super cool- it's made by Seattle company Mavam, and is totally under-counter except for the group heads sticking up, it's cool to be able to see shots being poured from the customer point of view. Great selection of beans, and they are all freshly roasted and really nice flavors. They also sell beans whole or ground, I bought beans from them and would again, making some great coffee at home this week. They also have a liquor license and are open til 8pm! Only got espresso shots and drip coffee, so I can't say how their drinks are, but I would definitely come back to check out their menu. Dog friendly! One good boi was taking a nap while his dad was getting some work done read more

If you want the perfect cup of coffee every time, chill vibes for days, and outstanding customer service- Houndstooth on Rock Rose is the place to go. I often go to this location for business meetings, or my Saturday morning fix. During warmer months Houndstooth has a lime iron or Arnold Palmer that is like a coffee meets tea masterpiece. It is by far my favorite drink of all time. If you see it on their menu - order it! It's by far the best drink of all time. read more

I love me some Houndstooth. And now with this one in the Domain, it's the closest one to the house. I came in for some togo coffee early on a Sat morning. Easy to find street parking and pretty close to Red garage if you prefer garage parking or if street parking is filled. If you come early enough, it's a rather quick in and out. Picked up a vanilla latte for myself and a chai tea for the wife. They also carry pastries and Tacodelli breakfast tacos. The inside is nice and beautifully decorated with a lot of natural light coming through. The coffee is a little expensive but you are paying a premium for a great cup made with the best beans. They were quire overwhelmed with only one employee working behind the corner on a Sat morning taking orders and making drinks. But he had a super positive attitude even though he had quite a decent line. I love this location, will be back and stay longer next time. read more

Came to houndstooth on a weekday afternoon for a coffee and to get some work done, and I think this something I want to bring into my weekly routine! Of course the coffee was great, but the indoor space as well as the patio were great areas to get some work done! There is some light music playing, but it's quiet enough to not be distracting. The majority of people inside were working on laptops, and the patio was dog friendly. read more

I love coffee! Every time we are on vacation or venture out Im yelping local favorite coffee shop and try their signature drink. So Houndstooth has been one of my favorite coffee every time we visit our old hood in Austin. You don't even have to add any syrup, flavor or fancy milk. The coffee's aroma, deep flavor, the added sweetness to the coffee beans with fruits makes you want to toss all your coffee beans at home and never ever go to another coffee shop! If you come here please be patient as they. As you are about to get your first hand drip coffee! I just had a simple coffee latte and this was as good as my Kona coffee in Hawaii (which I absolutely indulged). Upon the baristas recommendation I purchased some of their coffee bean and I was wondering if it taste almost the same as when I purchase a coffee from the store. I was not disappointed. As soon as I grinned the coffee bean (the aroma in my kitchen!!!) wow.. soo good! And then freshly brewed in my espresso machine with milk. Best morning coffee ever! The only deduction is the price! it is quite pricey! 6$ for a simple latte and 18$ for a small bag of coffee bean! But if I am ever in the area again of venture to Dallas downtown, I will make another stop for sure! read more
