Hotbox Pizza has always been a solid local pizza chain, in my opinion. I particularly like this location because service is efficient, friendly, and orders are always accurate! Not to mention the quality of the pizzas and Stix themselves. You can tell that the staff cares about making a delicious pizza. Everything we ordered was hot, fresh, and high quality (e.g. evenly distributed toppings, even sauce coverage, nice bake on the pizza, and uniformly rolled breadsticks) Recently we ordered "The Deal" which includes one large one topping pizza, Stix, and two drinks. We elected to pay a little extra for an additional topping and ordered bacon and mushroom, as well as some extra sauces on the side. The original crust pizza is crispy outside and fluffy inside and cornmeal dusted. The flavor isn't particularly distinct but that makes it a nice blank canvas for the sauce, cheese, and toppings. If you're lucky you'll get a piece with a nice big crusty bubble. The breadsticks at Hotbox are some of my all time favorite! They're fluffy inside and have a crisp crust of tiny bread bubbles outside. They're not greasy or buttery, instead they are brushed with delightful little salt crystals which only make your marinara or cheese dipping sauce taste that much better. Pro tip: Stash those iconic reusable plastic cups because they're not only useful but the ever changing designs and colors are addictive to collect. read more

Happy with my service here! Walked in with no order ahead, only waited 15 minutes- probably less- for my pizza. Tasted great and was cheap. Nice little store if you choose to eat in but seems like more of a carry out place. Staff was friendly enough and seemed to be taking things seriously behind the counter. Ordered a pizza for delivery this past weekend and went with HotBox because it's close to my place. I will say, the website is pretty snazzy and easy to navigate which is nice. However, I was surprised when I nonchalantly typed in "hotbox" .com and shockingly found out that I was on the wrong website -- NOTE make sure you type in hotboxpizza.com or you too, will be surprised. Anyhow, we ordered a large pizza (half dixie chicken and half chicken ranch), breadsticks with cheese, and two drinks. The total with tip came out to $35, probably a little over priced, but if I wanted to save money I could have picked it up myself. The pizza itself was pretty disappointing. Bland in flavor, and the crust was overly salty for some reason. The breadsticks were alright. And for the drinks, well we got soda so that's hard to mess up -- and the cups are nice to re-use and dishwasher safe. I'd say a solid 3.5 stars for Hot Box I typically only order from Hot Box for the pie of the week specials. The pizza is a good quality and the flavors are good, but for the price point it is about like any other delivery pizza chain. It is good value when you get the pie of the week, my favorite is the Porky the Pie, the Cheese-sticks and the Party Fowl. My last visit, I took in the Girl Next Door. The GND was tasty. It had spicy pepperoni, pineapple and hot honey on a red sauce base. I was good, but could have used more hot honey. Now on to the negatives that exist now, that didn't when (Pizza Express) now Hot Box first came to Indy a long while ago and when I worked at the Broad Ripple store. The breadsticks used to be so much better than they currently are. The stick are not tender anymore and feel like they are always over cooked or cooked at too high a temperature. Once in a while, I get a craving for Hot Box Pizza. I received a post card in the mail for a free pizza because they "missed me" since I had not ordered a pizza from them in a while. I redeemed it one night to bring to a gathering to share with friends and everyone enjoyed it. I have enjoyed Hot Box Pizza for quite a while and always enjoyed their specialty pizzas. The meal deal is a great deal . You get a large pizza with breadsticks and two beverages. They provide Tootsie Rolls as a treat with every pizza, which makes them stand out among the competition. The pizza tastes terrific and is more unique among the other pizzas I have had with other restaurants. Hotbox PIzza has a great crust and they provide different spices and even a little garlic on their pizza. They produce a high quality product with every delivery or carry out order. The breadsticks are phenomenal and taste superb! Their nacho sauce and ranch sauce are excellent as well. The staff is excellent and gives professional customer service. The fact that they surprise their long commitment customers with a post card for a free pizza or free side demonstrates their ability to keep their customers happy and make good relationships with people for the long term. After a long hot run this morning I didn't have the energy to make or even go pickup food, so I decided to order pizza. I hadn't had HotBox in a long time and it sounded good and it had a reasonable delivery fee. I ordered one of the deals that included a large pizza, breadsticks, and two fountain drinks. I got a text message that my order had been delivered. I opened my door and did not find anything. Within a few minutes a neighbor called me and told me my pizza had been delivered to her house. This is not uncommon. I live on a street and she lives on an avenue of the same name. I called to restaurant to inform them of this delivery mistake and no credit for the delivery fee or tip or anything else to make this right was offered. For the food. The pizza was as I remembered it's solid pizza, yet not outstanding. I was disappointed with the ricotta cheese. I didn't appreciate any ricotta cheese. I was expecting a large amount. Maybe it was blended in or maybe it was just left off, I can't tell, but wouldn't pay extra for this topping again. The sticks were good and I like the nacho cheese. I also like the to-go cups that you can collect and use again. I have been trying to give grace to the service industry lately, but I have had a string of bad luck with high prices and poor food quality or service. For this experience the food was fine, but the delivery issue and lack of willingness to correct the mistake will dampen my enthusiasm for ordering from here again in the near future. read more

The name "HotBox" turned me off initially -- it conjured visions of pot smokers eating cold pizza in a messy living room, or under-the-blankets farters (or both). But I had a coupon for a free pizza with the purchase of breadsticks, and I'm not dumb enough to turn down free food, so HotBox Pizza it was. First the good: 1) My order was ready super fast. 2) The people who work here know what they're doing and take their job seriously, but are friendly and really nice. Now for the mediocre: 1) The breadsticks were just alright. I ate one in the car on the way home from picking up my pizza, and it was good because I was really hungry and pretty much anything tastes good when you're really hungry, but once I got home and the breadsticks had time to cool down, they tasted bland and got hard quickly. 2) The pizza tasted like Little Caesars or some of those other cheap pizzas. It was like, "Yes, this is pizza because it is bready and has sauce and cheese on it, but it's not good pizza and I don't really like eating it, but I will because it's here and I'm hungry." Their breadsticks are way to salty and get hard and cold fast so i never order those. But tonight i went to pick up a pizza and found long hairs in it. 3 of them. As an IU graduate, Hot Box (or Pizza Express) is a favorite--especially their famous breadstix. Finally, a location in Carmel! This is probably the nicest Hot Box location and it offers beer, several big screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. The breadstix were awesome as usual (we of course got the trifecta of sauces: cheese, marinara, and ranch). The pizza was better than usual--maybe its the new ovens? The downside is the 'deal' has continued to go up in price (not at $16) and an order of breadstix has been reduced from 8 to 6. I see there is a location in Texas. Keeping my fingers crossed that one will open up in the Chicago area. read more

I've never been to such a disappointing pizza restaurant. First off, let me say this: I understand that every restaurant/ delivery/ take out place, ETC- I understand how they all do things a little bit differently. With that being said, I'm no fan of how HotBox Pizza runs things so I thought I should make my voice clear. Let me also clarify: I've had HotBox Pizza a lot of times. If there's anyone experienced in giving this establishment a review, it's me. Let's all be honest, Most adults praise Pizza Hut and crap on Papa John's.... But anytime pizza restaurants are the center of the attention, you don't hear HotBox Pizza being mentioned whatsoever. I think that's a good thing, I don't think HotBox Pizza is in my top 100 fav pizza places. The crust is typically always old and trashy. While the toppings aren't the problem, the dough has got to go! Personally Papa John's will always be my fav pizza restaurant unless that changes which I doubt it. read more

I totally understand the lack of help these days in the service industry. Not sure what all these non working people are doing, but anyways, we put in an order for breadsticks and cheese sticks the other night. Once an hour rolled around, I mentioned the fact that our order had yet to be delivered. When we called, the woman who answered the phone had informed us that they were short staffed with one delivery driver. The driver was out delivering orders, our order was at HotBox and once the driver returned, they would get our order to us. We waited. Then it became 45 minutes since the last call, so now an hour and forty five minutes. This was when I said, "well our order has been sitting at the place for about an hour and a half, so I guarantee it will arrive like it's been sitting for that time". Once the two hour mark rolled around, which was 10:00pm by now, our order arrived. It was exactly how i thought it would be, breadsticks cold, cheese sticks cold and dried out. Needless to say, I was not happy at all! Like I said, I totally understand the shortage of help, but this was unacceptable!! At some point, maybe instead of expecting the one driver to kill themselves trying to deliver each and every order around town, someone from the shop could jump in and at least help get some out in a timely manner. Another real bother to me, is there was no "we are so sorry your order arrived 2 hours late" or "let me take some off your order, etc" by the woman on the phone or the delivery driver. Went at lunch time no pizzas where ready. Had to wait for pizzas to cook. People are on a limited time schedule when you go for lunch. Terrible follow up I received an email after contacting their website and writing my last review on 5/1/16. They apologized and said they were going to send me a certificate in hopes I would give them another try. Which I was willing to do since the response was fast and appropriate. But alas the follow through was terrible. It is now 7/29/2016 and I never received a certificate or anything past the email. I'll be honest, I am addicted to Hot Box Stix! I can't deny it any longer. Their pizza I can do without, I don't find it any better than the average chain-type pizza. Oh, but those breadstix!! I always get them with ranch and cheese sauce. Dip the stix in cheese 1st, then into the ranch. Wonderful. I typically head there for the "Box Lunch" which is a choice of 2 of 3 items: a slice, a salad and stix. As you might have guessed, I skip the slice for the salad and stix. It's a great deal. It is so much food for a very affordable price! Also, I am a huge fan of their ranch! It is delicious! I love this HotBox! It is in a great location, close to downtown Carmel and it's usually easy to get in and out of the lot! The staff works quickly! Pulled over to stop at another restaurant and ended up detouring to blaze. Wasn't sure what to expect but was overly pleased on the whole experience! I was immediately greeted by Paige who was friendly and, thank goodness, genuine. Who got me all set up and passed to Megan who guided me to build one of the best pizzas I had cause it was my own creation. Finally Jai finished the payment, which at under 10 bucks is a steal! The rest of the staff, Jonathan and Eric (and more I'm sure I'm spacing), was relaxed, positive, and most importantly seemed to really enjoy their jobs! I like Hotbox pizza alright. It's a step up from your regular chains; however, there are gourmet pizza joints that still blow it out of the water. The spicy pepperoni is good. actually, I like "The Hotbox." It's spicy pepperoni and banana pepper. They have items like fontina, ricotta, and Wisconsin cheddar cheese. It's much like a mix between Dominoe's and a gourmet joint that can put fancy stuff on your pizza; however, they charge you the high specialty prices. I ordered mine deliver, but just a forewarning, the parking lot is a pain in the ass, and it's pretty impossible to get in and out of, depending on which way your going (most ways). read more

Whenever I'm in town for business I make it a point to stop in here...I don't know why exactly as it isn't the best pizza but I do. Every time. =P Their dough is pretty good but the sausage is the little shredded kind that is normally on cheap frozen pizzas. Not saying that is bad, just not my preference. Perhaps I'll try something different next time but I can never make up my mind so I always get the supreme. What I do really enjoy here is their breadsticks and liquid cheese. LIQUID CHEESE SO GOOD!
