Good when you just want pizza Monical's is perfectly decent pizza. In a world where GREAT pizza exists, it doesn't quite make the mark, but it's quite respectable. I love that the location is convenient and that there's never a long line for ordering. My food is always hot and cooked well when I order. I met up with an old college friend, and she couldn't stop raving about Monical's in Illinois--so of course, we had to check it out for lunch! We ordered the 5 breadsticks and a 16" Deluxe thin and crispy pizza. The breadsticks were a fun surprise; they had more of a pretzel vibe than a typical breadstick, but they were still super tasty! The pizza was delicious--though a bit more time in the oven might have been nice to heat the toppings fully under the cheese. The chicken Alfredo pan style pizza is the way to go! The crust is cheesy and soft with the a great combo of chicken and cheese. They do individual size pizzas which are a plus. There is no doubt that Monical's Pizza is undeniable a great pizza. However, I am extremely disappointed in the delivery charge of $3.00. I assumed it went to the driver, like most, I'm sure, it DOESN'T. How do I know, I called Monical's and asked. Also, the tip you are asked to sign for when delivered the driver does not receive any of that. I thought the driver was getting that $3.00 and a percentage of the tip, he or she, is NOT! I don't know if they are paid hourly or receive some type of compensation for gas but I'm tipping cash so I am assured the driver receives the money. I think Monical's Pizza should disclose, that the delivery charges do not go to the Driver. read more

I absolutely love coming to this pizza place in the Trader's Point area especially right after seen a movie. So, I ended up going to restaurant on March 2nd after I watched a movie at Trader's Point AMC movie theater. I had the bake ravioli along with breadsticks, and my meal was just ok, tasted very blend like something was missing from that dish. Then, my friend ordered the bbq chicken pizza with different types of cheeses on the pizza..I had 3 slices of the pizza, and it was really delicious. I've been getting their gluten-free pizza crust every couple weeks for the entire year of 2021! It's literally the BEST gluten-free crust I've been able to find at a restaurant. Easy to order online, delivered to my door, delivery people are always super friendly. My only complaint is that the gluten-free crust gets stuck to the foil pan they cook it on. If they could spray that with non-stick spray or something, we would be good! I get a little annoyed when I have to dig my pizza out with a knife. But it's worth it! read more

Stopped here for the first time because we were in the area. Got a large cheese & cheese bread for $25 . The taste is not bad but nothing special, and borders on too salty. While it says thin crust I didn't expect it to be cracker thin like it was, and it left us not feeling full. Fully wheelchair accessible for both manual and power chair users. The staff are always pleasant. The food is consistently good. The quality is good. Inside it is very roomy and even when busy I find it always easy to maneuver no matter how busy it is. My family and I highly recommend this wonderful place. I do wish they would use shredded spinach or kale, or some other lettuce instead of iceberg witch has no nutritional value. Or have another option. Just a suggestion. read more

We were killing some time before a movie so decided to pop in for an order of breadsticks. Of course the breadsticks were warm, doughy and delicious and disappeared quickly since we love them and highly recommend. The reason for this review is twofold. One, even though we only ordered beer and breadsticks, our server, Amanda, was absolutely excellent!! She was warm, friendly and checked on us numerous times as if we'd ordered several pizzas. The other is the atmosphere and decor at this store is much warmer and cozier than the Avon Store. The Avon store feels like you're in a crowded, brightly lit pizza joint but 86th Street has a totally different atmosphere. The softer lighter, large booths and wall dividing the register from the dining area creates a calmer, warmer dining experience. Doesn't sound like much but it had us remodeling the Avon store and had us planning on visiting again before or after our next movie. read more

Bland food, boring selection, bad service. We went here after seeing a movie near by. That's about the only thing this place has going for it -- a good location. Salads were dreadful and mostly made up of SHREDDED LETTUCE (yuck!), we were served a buffalo pizza instead of the BBQ pizza we ordered, and our server was young and horribly awkward. He asked if we wanted refills finally and then never came back... Pizza is Little Ceaser's quality -- edible but forgettable. When it was time to pay up at the front, the girl had no clue how to split a check and instead of asking for help she stared at the machine for what felt like an eternity. No manager (or person over 20) seemed to be working. What a joke. Avoid. Sooooo many better options out there. read more

The pizza has changed some the ham was diffrent and seemed a bit low quality. The sauce taste had also changed but I actually liked it better. Breadstick and cheese still a hit. Our server was friendly and attentive without being annoying. The restaurant is in serious need of some TLC. Paint scrapped off the walls in every booth. I LOVE MONICALS! I am from urbana, IL and Monicals is one of those treats from childhood that I always enjoy. I've been ordering from this location for a couple of times now. I have no complaints. My food is always hot and ready when I pick it up and they have never gotten my order wrong. My fiancé loves the seasoning and I love the thin crust. It is on the pricey side for pizza and it being thin crust makes it not too filling. But I look at this more of a speciality pizza than the typical serve for a party type food. Sudden and serious hunger pangs during Saturday morning errands found us scrambling for a place to chow on the northwest side of the city. The usual chain restaurants didn't sound appealing and the situation called for something more than a mere sandwich. Then we spotted Monical's in Traders Point shopping center. Yum! Pizza crust so thin you could read a paper through it - okay, not really but it was as crispy as crispy gets, which factor makes all the toppings really stand out. We had the Spicy Italian - sausage, onions, green olives, mushrooms and pepperoncini - and though we assured each other that the 12" was a good idea because we could take some pie home, it was so good, we devoured it! Alongside, we shared a small tossed salad, mainly because we wanted to try the much-touted Monical's sweet & tart dressing. Strange thing, it looked like French dressing and my initial reaction was "...hmmm, yeah, this is not bad." By my 2nd slice, I was squirting the stuff onto my Spicy Italian - as if it didn't already have enough flavor! I don't know what's in the dressing, but I just couldn't resist...even bought a bottle for home. Our server, Mo, was cheery, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. Also, it was a nice day and we were able to sit outside on Monical's patio - definitely a bonus for a pizza joint. The only downside - and I hope the owners change this - was that the house salad was made with shredded (as in sandwich lettuce) iceberg, a bit of tomato and some cheese and was a bit on the small side. Monical's Pizza is cheating their customers nation wide!!! When you add "Xtra" of a topping they charge you for a FULL second topping while putting on less than 1/3 of the normal topping amount. I had this policy confirmed to me by the manger's of multiple stores! The normal amount of peperoni is 30 for a medium pie, they add 10 when you ask for double, while charging for a full extra topping! This is FRAUD, being directed from the corporate level. I would not recommend the breadsticks, the atmosphere was a little off (they keep the lights off in about half the restaurant when not busy), and the ladies room was out of toilet paper (one of those annoying things that ideally staff keeps an eye on). However the Italian pizza was pretty good, they have great kids meals, and staff was really nice. So we'd probably be back. read more

Horrible service. We waited for them to get our table ready and after about 5 minutes the guy came back and looked like he had forgotten we were still waiting for our table. This should have been a warning. We should have left. But we stayed. The food was tasty but after they dropped off our pizzas we never heard from anyone again until we went to the counter to ask for our bill and a box for leftovers. We must have been waiting for 30+ minutes with our plates stacked and finished and not so much as a "how's it going" from anyone. No refill for the drink that sat empty for 45 minutes. I'd like to preface this review by saying that if someone said, "I love Pizza more than ANYONE!" I would fight them for that title, and probably win. I love pizza that much. Monical's Pizza did not impress me whatsoever, and neither did the restaurant. From my impression, it seemed as if it were targeted for children, only, as if Children could come there and eat alone. As a graphic designer, the menu also let me down. It was not design well and the photos of the food almost made me want to leave immediately. The price for the pizza wasn't too bad, but an order of 2 stale and chewy breadsticks was something around $3. 2 adults and 2 kids dined here last night, and the experience was just forgettable. We started with the breadsticks, which were rather bland and a little to doughy for my taste. The kids ordered their own thin crust pizza with bacon/pepperoni, the adults tried the buffalo chicken pizza. The pizza crusts were a bit undercooked in my opinion. Cheese, sauce, and toppings were adequate. The buffalo chicken pizza was just standard chicken toppings with hot sauce drizzled on top, which just overpowered everything else on the pizza. My biggest complaint is the beer menu. If you are going to go to the expense and effort to obtain a liquor license, why waste it by stocking the most bland and unoriginal beers possible? Bud Light/Coors Light/ Miller Lite (there is some great variety there!), Budweiser and Corona? No thanks - I ordered a Coke. I'd rather poke myself in the eye rather than drink that crap. And the wine list was just as bad - Gallo, Turning Leaf, and two other jug-bottle labels. Service was good, very attentive and efficient. But it couldn't save this place from meh pizza and the worst beer/wine list I have ever seen. read more

Unfortunately we will never go back to this location the crust was incorrectly cooked without the cornmeal on the bottom as well as thick and salad was old.
