Horrendous service. Female employee named "Wheeler" or however it's spelled, with a red shirt on 3/25/26 evening was of no help at all. Wanted to return an item I recently bought and she didn't even want to open the store bag that it was originally packaged in. She proceeded to refuse to refund my item. I paid with tap and therefore it should be refunded on tap. She was rude and didn't want to get behind the register even while I was waiting in line. We happened to be at the mall and stopped here to see what they had. We were greeted when we first walked in and were pleasantly surprised to find such a large selection of t-shirts and sweatshirts, and especially happy about the amount of Billie merch. They had quite a few shirts from her newest album and a few others that had images from some of her older albums. Some of the hoodies and sweatshirts were out of reach, but that was okay because a super nice employee by the name of Child helped get them down and was very attentive our entire shopping trip. He helped find additional sizes too, and mentioned the sale they were having too, which was super appreciated. The other employee, Juliana, helped us at the register and was very helpful as well. This isn't a store I typically shop at, but I would definitely come here again and that's mostly due to their awesome customer service. read more

Went shopping on Saturday and can i just say how the whole time one of the employees was stalking me while I was checking out the clearance section with my two kids. Whole time she kept her eyes on me like i was going to steal and my mother noticed too. I didn't even realize it when i caught her stalking me in the most obvious form I also had a Miniso bag wide open where they can obviously see my items and put it on the floor while i looked. The only reason it's a one star is this wonderful guy was very kind as my daughter who has autism went in the back of the counter and he was so nice about it . I had ordered a Kirby shirt online because stores were only showing 1 in stock and with the current gas prices, I didn't want to be driving all around town. When I got it, it was WAY too big. I called my local Hot Topic and spoke to a very nice and helpful gentleman named Curtis who had found a smaller size in store, so I drove over for the exchange. Luckily it was only a 5 min drive. I came here to browse and I am the type of person that doesn't want to be bothered when shopping. A lady came up to me it was hard to avoid since the hallways were so narrow. A lady with curly hair came up to me and asked if I needed anything twice after I said no. She then proceeded to kinda follow me or check up on me but it felt like jump scares. I felt like she thought I was tryna steal because I tend to browse along the edges where there is no people as I get anxiety, I don't like people around me or bothering or following me. If felt like she was trying to make sure where I was the entire time, I started having anxiety and couldn't finish shopping and left. If someone says they don't want help, please leave them alone! Christine is amazing! I had a horrible experience with Lime Crime hair dye and my hair was GREEN when I wanted PURPLE! I went in to HT to find manic panic dye (since that's the one I was used to) and Christine convinced me to try the Arctic Fox dye and I LOVE it! I'm so glad she convinced me! there is so much darkness in this type of hot topic stores. smh. i have prayed for their souls. as is my duty to pray for all. store manager, robert is awesome!!! the moment i walked in, i asked him if he can change the music to luther vandross because i couldn't stand the death music prior lol. he didn't have so i knew he would have cool and lots of people's favs, linkin park. ha asap linkin park turned on, i can see some customers bopping their heads to the music lol and way after that, i overheard another random customer say outloud to himself, "i like this song!" me: you do? haha that's great! better music goes a long way! ;) robert happily and very nicely helped from music changing to getting the dressing room set up for me to finding another spirited away dress in my size (i ended up purchasing 2 dresses) and to finding a spirited away pin (which would've taken me forever to find in their clear bowls lol). i ended up purchasing 4 pins. i very much adore all the items i bought tonight. the dino pin, squirrel pin, stitch pin, and spirited away pin were cutely funny. :) i wouldn't have spent my money today because i'm only partially frugal lol if it weren't for outstanding help from rad store manager, robert. changing the music convinced me to buy big time. lol read more

I came in looking for specialty tights not normally found in regular department stores. Well, they didn't have much of a selection and I actually found more crazy tights at stores like Nordstorm's and Urban Outfitters. I guess Hot Topic has gone mainstream. They were selling the same Twilight jewelry found at a local bookstore. Harumph. I did however, buy some hot pink and black plastic bracelets for under $5. Walking into a Hot Topic is like playing Russian roulette. You may or may not get a good sales rep. Luckily, I walked into a good store. I came to Hot Topic in search of Dragon Ball Z vynil pop collectable. Albert said that they were out but he did try finding one in the system and in the back. He made my wife and I feel like he was really trying. He came back from the back carrying what he could find. We bought two and Albert even offered to keep an eye out for a specific figure. Excellent customer service! The store itself is a bit small and it felt cluttered. I will attribute that to restocking issues for Black Friday. This place is a hit or miss. A simple pickup with a damaged pop turns into an interrogation. I got 2 pops and 1 of them was damaged. Asked to get another one sent to me. The associate had the nerve to ask me repeatedly so you don't take your pops out. What does it matter if i do or not? I don't want a damaged box. Then proceeds to do the return and come to find out, they didn't have the pop online. Couldn't you have checked before doing it? NOPE. Just stay way. Go to Arcadia or Glendale. Flat out messiest store ever. Product stacked mile high just looking for an accident to happen. Sensor pins everywhere, fingerprints all over glass cases, food court cups everywhere. Even messier are the employees, I can't even trust someone's judgment on picking an outfit when they look unprofessional and messy themselves. You don't know how many times I want to tell the young men there to pick up their pants, sagging is not a good look, and the girls need to put on some pants or something- crop tops and short shorts belong at the beach! Went in to the store with my mom to find something for my brother's birthday. We are older women, btw. (33 and 57) We walk in and it's fairly busy as it was a Saturday afternoon. We go to the Rick and Morty section/ pop culture tee wall to check out some stuff. We are then acknowledged by a friendly girl associate and told of the promos going on and if we need help, let her know. My mom and I are looking up at the tees, literally not touching one thing, and 3 employees come by to ask us if we need help in the span of 5 minutes. I work in retail, I know what is going on. They think we are trying to steal, but my mom doesn't catch it and at this point, we still haven't touched a thing. So we walk to the pop vinyl wall. Employees follow us and stay close by. Again, employees ask if we need help. Mind you, there are all these teenagers touching (and probably stealing) a mess of things and we are the ones being followed. We ended up just leaving because the store looked like trash for one and for two, the teenagers were pissing my mom off. read more

Much like that bar the Crazy Horse, this place always smells like evil fart. I only go here when there is a certain Hello Kitty item I came across that the normal Hello Kitty stores don't carry (Hello Kitty dressed like Frankenstein, and in pillowcase form??! ADORABLE!) But its always a huge hassle to go to. I hate malls---I hate them. They smell weird. But I have to give in to my Hello Kitty wants. So I go. It's always a huge mess in Hot Topic (as well as hit or miss with the t shirts and belts) and I feel like an aging dinosaur amongst the people wearing Ramones shirts that were a year old when the Ramones stopped playing. This is by far one of the best Hot Topic I have been to in a long time!! They have all the new items in stock and are great in providing excellent customer service! I had the pleasure in getting helped by a store worker, Chrissy, which was one of the most energetic employees I have met. She quickly introduced me to all the current sales and even helped me order online for items that were currently sold out in store. We even talked about Funko Pops, which is awesome when store employees treat you like people instead of just consumers! Definitely will be coming back to this Hot Topic !! read more

Went to this store to return items I purchased online and they refused my return because it's 1 day after the order date. I didn't even receive my purchase until late May. They didn't even charge my credit until the 12th. This is ridiculous. I know the store manager could have returned it. She has the authority to override and she refused and said she doesn't have an option to do so. What a lie. read more

I had one of the worst and most frustrating experiences when attempting to make an exchange at the hot topic store located at the Montebello mall. The manager named Sergio was not only incompetent and ill informed on store policy but he was also very rude and unprofessional. I wanted to make an exchange without a receipt. I had a pop figure that was on regular price to exchange for a necklace that was the exact same price. He claims that without a receipt he isn't supposed to do an even exchange for different items, but if it was a pop for pop he would do it. He even went so far as to print out a receipt with the terms and conditions listed. Which he couldn't find anything to support his earlier claims. But instead continued to state that he doesn't have to do any returns without receipts if he doesn't want to because as he put it "I'm the manager so it's completely up to me". He clearly has no place being in any position of authority as he doesn't understand how to provide customer service and was very disrespectful in his tone and attitude towards me and the issue I was having. He thinks that since there is a promo going on that was buy 1 get second at 30% off then the pop figure can't be exchange for the bracelet I was trying to get, even though it was the same exact price. He made no sense at all. I am making an even exchange and even if the promo is 30% off, the second item could of been a bracelet or whatsoever. I understand if I was trying to do a return for money that there would be an issue since in theory I could've been returning an item I got on discount for full retail price. However, since I was just trying to do an even exchange for another item there wasn't any profit to be had for myself or monetary loss for the company. I will not go to this store ever again. Which also means I will be spending much less at hot topic since this was the location closest to my home. I also intend to write a Yelp review concerning this incident and tell my friends and family about this matter and urge them to go to a different location. read more

Horrible service. I only go into this store because my daughter loves it. First of all i could barely hear myself thing walking into this mess of a store. Things were all over the floor , clothing was waded up so i couldn't even look for sizes. Since no one bothered to offer help i went to look for an employee. I waited for about 15 mins before i saw her at the register with no other customers so i don't know why if she just forgot about me or didn't think it mattered but this is no way to treat a customer. Went to this Hot Topic for my first funko pop exclusive release (Shota Aizawa Head Costume). Stood in line for nearly an hour expecting that I could grab two pops (one for myself, one for my girlfriend). Upon reaching the register some extremely discourteous employee named SANDY tells the person in front of me "you can't get more than one of the same pop" and literally GRABS THE FIGURE from a CUSTOMER'S HANDS then continues to tell me I can only get one. I explain to him that one is for my girlfriend and he says "if the line dies you can grab another one." So I wait on the side for the line to die down with a few other people and after it's completely dead I proceed to go back to the register for the second pop. Then the same employee SANDY says "when I said the line dies down, I meant come back in 5 hours!" 1) AS IF THE FIGURES WOULD REALLY BE THERE IN 5 HOURS. 2) CLEARLY NOT WHAT HE SAID. I've never encountered such terrible customer service -- Sandy, you're unprofessional and need to learn how to treat customers -- PEOPLE, with respect. read more
