We came here for my son's 1st birthday bear for $1 and it was the cutest thing ever! They have a specific birthday bear for this deal (cannot be upgraded to another animal/character), and a $25 birthday bundle that comes with a birthday shirt, pants, one accessory, and a voice recording. We opted for just the $1 bear just to have something for my son to hold (he loves it). The workers really made the day special for us by explaining the process, stuffing the bear to our liking (softer side is cuddlier), doing the heart ceremony with our son, and letting him ring the birthday bell! This is obviously more for the parents than for the 1-year old but it was still very cute to see him experience everything! He has the biggest smile when he hugs the bear. I took my daughter here to get her first build-a-bear. It's located on the 2nd floor, the right side of Forever 21. It took a while for someone to help us because the build-a-bear lady was assisting another party. So, my daughter and I decided to look on our own. Pay Your Age!!! Came here for the new promo for children 14 and under, they can pay their age for the Birthday Bear! Started July so my twinsies got to be the first kiddos to get it! All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Small store location. They have a good selection of bears to pick from. Only 2 stuffer stations. If it is crazy busy, the wait will be super long and slow. Good amount of clothing and sports stuff. Do not forget to get your birth certificate! So updating this. Still giving it four stars because they didn't have the birthday bear . I did decide to take the substitute bear instead since I didn't have time to come back next week. My son is turning 1 so the bear came out to only 1$ which I love the whole pay your age deal if your under 13 it is definitely worth it. They did their whole bear ritual with the stuffing and the heart but since my son was a little shy I had to do it for him. Either way he loved since he kept laughing. I just went in yesterday for my goddaughter's 5th birthday and had the best experience thanks to Refugio! My sisters and I never had a Build-a-Bear stuffed animal, but we wanted my goddaughter to have one as a gift for her birthday and we let her go all out because we all believe she deserved it! She's very timid and Refugio made her feel comfortable and laugh as she stuffed her Elza (yes she decided she didn't want regular spelling) and made a wish. My mom shopped here for over 15 years. She has purchased at best guess over 75 bears. Many were gifted to my children. Some were for herself. In addition, she purchased many clothes, accessories, sound boxes, scents and other extras. She recently passed away. This review is for my mom based on what she told me and myself for how my mom was treated. The employees at this location always provided a best in class level of service. That would be enough for a 5 star review. However, they went beyond doing their job and consistently exceeded expectations. My mom was disabled and the staff was always accommodating and patient. Their treatment of my mom went beyond the best customer service. They were kind and thoughtful to her. They took as much time as my mom needed and she was never rushed. Greater than that they did something you don't find in a job description. In the years of my mom patronizing their store they brought her joy and happiness. The greatest product wasn't the bears, which is by the way a wonderful product. The greatest product was the people who work at this store. My mom truly enjoyed all her interactions with them. She enjoyed talking with them about things beyond bears. She considered them more than clerks. She considered them friends. Thank you for the memories you gave my mom and my children. Thank you for being wonderful to my mom. Thank you for the countless hours of joy she had every time she was in your store. I love that this location is an actually store with all the steps needed to build your bear. I've been noticing that Build-A-Bears are sometimes just kiosks in some shopping malls and it just doesn't have that original feeling of building your bear. The first time I got a bear was when the company was first starting and it was awesome!! As the years went by they started to charge more and cut corner but oh well that's just the way it is. Anyways I came to this location and had a decent experience despite all the new regulations. I don't mind wearing my mask but every time I come into the store it's like they have no AC! It gets so warm I feel like I need to go outside and take a breath! My daughter had a nice experience, all the workers were so polite and helpful. One lady gave my little one stickers which made her a lot more happier than the actual bear!! She chose the birthday bear with bunny sounds. Pretty unique! The selection of clothes was extreeeeemly limited. We didn't get a skirt or pants or any bottom half coverage, which was very disappointing. They only had about 3 different kind of shirts and two kinds of shoes. It was bleak I tell ya! Kid point of view: I love this place!!So many animals to make,like a unicorn or dog or a cat and more. They have a lot of cute clothes and beds. Also, you cannot forget about the little bears. Will not be returning to this location! I'm not one to really complain or leave negative reviews after a bad experience but this time I felt the need to leave one . I specifically went to the Montebello mall yesterday to take my daughters to Build-A-Bear since they have not gone since before quarantine . We had to wait in line maybe about 10 minutes to go in since they're still limiting the amount of people they're allowing in the store (which was not a problem at all) Both of my daughter's were very excited to go in mainly to look and purchase clothes and accessories for their bears they already have. We walked to the back where they have all their accessories and we're approached by a staff member who asked if we had already picked a bear. We answered by saying we were looking at the clothes to which she responded if we're not going to be making a bear she needed to let other guests in mind you we had only been in the store for less than 5 minutes. It literally felt like she was kicking us out so we just decided to leave. On the way out another staff member let us out and didn't even bother saying anything she just looked at us as if we had done something wrong . I'm not sure if this a new Build-A-Bear policy where you're only allowed in if you're going to make a bear but they have definitely lost us as customers. read more

The worker was very rude and not allowing anyone in anymore due due to store capacity while there was just only one group of family inside, plenty of capacity for more customers. I wanted to go to build a bear for pay your age but it was too much of a hassle so i went the week after. I did not care much for the price. I have not gone to a build a bear in a long time, maybe 8 years? (i'm 19) But going back for my little brother's birthday (5 years old) was a lot of fun. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They made it super fun for my little brother. They had a brushing station to help make his bear look nice and a cute house box for the purchase! Build a bear is the best!!! They have so many choices to choose from. Licensed characters, limited edition collectable plushies, cute bears or bunnies, every clothing and accessory under the sun. The staff is really friendly. I always feel comfortable coming here even at my age. Expect a plushie to total to $40-$45 after clothing + cost of plushie. The experience here is like no other. You can stuff your own plushie, give it a heart, pick out its clothes, and get a cute box with it. They even have voice boxes or heartbeats for a little extra. It's very colorful here. You also can get a birth certificate for your plushie over by the computers. Overall, most unique place for stuffed animals! read more

I was pleasantly surprised regarding the great attitude and professionalism displayed by the two associates working in the store. I swore I would NEVER step foot inside a Build A Bear, but my daughter got a gift card and a discount coupon to boot, so we ended up here. The staff was nice, but it is sooooo damn expensive. It's a damn stuffed animal, geez. They sell clothes for these animals at the same cost of what you would spend on your child. You know you can get the same damn stuffed animal for a third of what you're going to pay just because you get to "build" it yourself and you get to create a birth certificate (rolling my eyes). So okay, it's a girly thing...I get it, it's cute. But as a parent, this is one way to screw you out of money. Luckily, the animal my daughter wanted was on sale ($15), and I only allowed her to pick the outfits that were on sale..2 for $15, and I got her animal some glasses at regular price just because the rest of the stuff I didn't have to pay for. There was no "shower/brush" station which was disappointing. Also when we completed the purchase all we got was our certificate and a bag. What happened to the boxes?!?
