I came here with my partner yesterday for a gender reveal plushie and we had the best support from the best 2 build a bear workers. Jazmin and another female worker with bluish greenish hair with glasses made us feel welcomed and love and showed pure excitement to help us with this milestone in our life. They made our experience memorable and were genuinely excited for us. I am very grateful that we chose this location and that these two beautiful ladies helped us with this next chapter of our lives. Did you know that on your birthday you can get a bear for the price of your age. Well, my son just turned one, so lucky for us, his bear only cost him 1. We did have to pay for the voice memo and the clothes if we chose to use any were on us, but we opted out of it. My childhood memory of this place was awesome. Unfortunately, I should've just gone to the one in Glendale, which is what I remembered from my childhood, but I didn't choose it cause it looks like it's a kiosk now. This specific location had really nice staff but the place was so freaking hot. I felt so bad for the workers. I'm happy that BAB is still around, but I do hope they improve this location specifically with the working conditions of the store. read more

We came here for my son's 1st birthday bear for $1 and it was the cutest thing ever! They have a specific birthday bear for this deal (cannot be upgraded to another animal/character), and a $25 birthday bundle that comes with a birthday shirt, pants, one accessory, and a voice recording. We opted for just the $1 bear just to have something for my son to hold (he loves it). The workers really made the day special for us by explaining the process, stuffing the bear to our liking (softer side is cuddlier), doing the heart ceremony with our son, and letting him ring the birthday bell! This is obviously more for the parents than for the 1-year old but it was still very cute to see him experience everything! He has the biggest smile when he hugs the bear. What a great birthday perk! read more

My mother in law was in town visiting and wanted to get our girls their first build a bears. Although this is a small location, they had a huge selection of stuffed animals to pick from! My husband is leaving for the Marines soon and I've been wanting to get a teddy to have while he's away. Jacquie (I hope I spelled her name right) was so sweet, helpful, and extremely kind! I took my daughter here to get her first build-a-bear. It's located on the 2nd floor, the right side of Forever 21. It took a while for someone to help us because the build-a-bear lady was assisting another party. So, my daughter and I decided to look on our own. Ten minutes later, another sales lady came out and helped us. My daughter was so happy during the build-a-bear creation, and as a father, I always hope for my daughter to be happy. When my youngest is old enough, I will also take her to build a bear. read more

I cannot explain how amazing it was for my baby when building his Po plush. Selection on clothes was not super impressive. But everyone was super kind and fun. I had a good time I just wanted more customization.

I have a bear named timmy from this store. I love him so much. Decent selection of clothing but i wish there was more.

The workers there were really mean. They were stuffing my bear and I made an inside joke to my friend that the employee didn't understand and she threatened to kick me out. Then at the checkout I gave the cashier a 100 dollar bill but then realized that I wanted to split it and she ignored me and then refused to split it. This was supposed to be a funny and exciting experience and it definitely was not. Unexepytable read more

I wouldn't normally shop here but I had a gift card ($50 didn't quite cover today's purchase) My daughter was very excited to build her own My Little Pony Twilight Sparkle. The girls at the store were so sweet, kind and patient. There were so many animals to choose from. I was so glad my kid knew exactly what she wanted. We looked online before going to the store. We still ended up spending an hour in the store. There were so many outfits to choose from. We left with a pony, 2 pairs of shoes and a cape & crown outfit. If my daughter decides to go back. I'll be sure to let her look online ahead of time again. read more

Pay Your Age!!! Came here for the new promo for children 14 and under, they can pay their age for the Birthday Bear! Started July so my twinsies got to be the first kiddos to get it! All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Small store location. They have a good selection of bears to pick from. Only 2 stuffer stations. If it is crazy busy, the wait will be super long and slow. Good amount of clothing and sports stuff. Do not forget to get your birth certificate! I did not like how they try to pressure you into buying sounds and smells for the bear. One NO should be enough for them to stop trying to sell them. Birthday Bear - $15, pay your age $1! I wonder if you were just born, would it be free?!?! Pink Cuddles - $16.50 Happy Hugs - $16.50 Always fun seeing a bear come to life. The heart song and dance is fun no matter how old you are! read more

So updating this. Still giving it four stars because they didn't have the birthday bear . I did decide to take the substitute bear instead since I didn't have time to come back next week. My son is turning 1 so the bear came out to only 1$ which I love the whole pay your age deal if your under 13 it is definitely worth it. They did their whole bear ritual with the stuffing and the heart but since my son was a little shy I had to do it for him. Either way he loved since he kept laughing. I bought an outfit on sale for 9$ as well so it was a good purchase for 10$. Ps. They have a rewards account so if you're not signed up you should sign up before you go. read more

I just went in yesterday for my goddaughter's 5th birthday and had the best experience thanks to Refugio! My sisters and I never had a Build-a-Bear stuffed animal, but we wanted my goddaughter to have one as a gift for her birthday and we let her go all out because we all believe she deserved it! She's very timid and Refugio made her feel comfortable and laugh as she stuffed her Elza (yes she decided she didn't want regular spelling) and made a wish. Refugio was amiable and really made us all feel welcomed, we were probably there for more than an hour. Yaretzi will never forget this experience and ringing the bell! Thank you Refugio, definitely manager material! Can't wait to go back, we all know she still wants the boutique and more clothes lol read more

Horrible customer service and system, Alice was the sale rep that helped me and she didn't know how to ring out a sale and apply coupon , and when I asked for manager, she said she was the manager. So I left the store paying without using the coupon. Don't go to her if you have coupon. read more

I am giving this place 5 stars because of Refugio. Thank you for making my daughter's first experience at Build-a-Bear truly magical. He was really encouraging and sweet through the whole process. My mom shopped here for over 15 years. She has purchased at best guess over 75 bears. Many were gifted to my children. Some were for herself. In addition, she purchased many clothes, accessories, sound boxes, scents and other extras. She recently passed away. This review is for my mom based on what she told me and myself for how my mom was treated. The employees at this location always provided a best in class level of service. That would be enough for a 5 star review. However, they went beyond doing their job and consistently exceeded expectations. My mom was disabled and the staff was always accommodating and patient. Their treatment of my mom went beyond the best customer service. They were kind and thoughtful to her. They took as much time as my mom needed and she was never rushed. Greater than that they did something you don't find in a job description. In the years of my mom patronizing their store they brought her joy and happiness. The greatest product wasn't the bears, which is by the way a wonderful product. The greatest product was the people who work at this store. My mom truly enjoyed all her interactions with them. She enjoyed talking with them about things beyond bears. She considered them more than clerks. She considered them friends. Thank you for the memories you gave my mom and my children. Thank you for being wonderful to my mom. Thank you for the countless hours of joy she had every time she was in your store. People shop your store to find joy, warmth and happiness in a little plush toy. My mom found those things in all of you every time she visited your store. read more

It was my kids birthday so we got the birthday bear. The guy did his stuffing ritual. Super fun date idea for couples! Me and my boyfriend had a blast and the lady who helped us was so sweet

I love that this location is an actually store with all the steps needed to build your bear. I've been noticing that Build-A-Bears are sometimes just kiosks in some shopping malls and it just doesn't have that original feeling of building your bear. The first time I got a bear was when the company was first starting and it was awesome!! As the years went by they started to charge more and cut corner but oh well that's just the way it is. Anyways I came to this location and had a decent experience despite all the new regulations. I don't mind wearing my mask but every time I come into the store it's like they have no AC! It gets so warm I feel like I need to go outside and take a breath! My daughter had a nice experience, all the workers were so polite and helpful. One lady gave my little one stickers which made her a lot more happier than the actual bear!! She chose the birthday bear with bunny sounds. Pretty unique! The selection of clothes was extreeeeemly limited. We didn't get a skirt or pants or any bottom half coverage, which was very disappointing. They only had about 3 different kind of shirts and two kinds of shoes. It was bleak I tell ya! It felt as thought it was "Partially Build-A-Bear" Next time I have to look before I even make a character. :/ because my daughter's bear is Winnie-The-Pooh'ing.... get it? (Shirt and no pants) read more

Kid point of view: I love this place!!So many animals to make, like a unicorn or dog or a cat and more. They have a lot of cute clothes and beds. Also, you cannot forget about the little bears. Sometimes there are great sales and if you're lucky your parents will get you something. There is an adorable bear closet and sometimes they sell Girl Scout bears. If I were you I would pack up the car and head to build a Bear workshop. read more

Will not be returning to this location! I'm not one to really complain or leave negative reviews after a bad experience but this time I felt the need to leave one . I specifically went to the Montebello mall yesterday to take my daughters to Build-A-Bear since they have not gone since before quarantine . We had to wait in line maybe about 10 minutes to go in since they're still limiting the amount of people they're allowing in the store (which was not a problem at all) Both of my daughter's were very excited to go in mainly to look and purchase clothes and accessories for their bears they already have. We walked to the back where they have all their accessories and we're approached by a staff member who asked if we had already picked a bear. We answered by saying we were looking at the clothes to which she responded if we're not going to be making a bear she needed to let other guests in mind you we had only been in the store for less than 5 minutes. It literally felt like she was kicking us out so we just decided to leave. On the way out another staff member let us out and didn't even bother saying anything she just looked at us as if we had done something wrong . I'm not sure if this a new Build-A-Bear policy where you're only allowed in if you're going to make a bear but they have definitely lost us as customers. read more

I was just walking the mall, and the store was running a promotion. I end up buying 2 Bears after speaking to Maddie. (Her name tag was long so she told me just Maddie) She was very informative and welcoming. Then When making my purchase, Refugio was more than welcoming as well. He gave us information regarding the battery life in the voice recording you can place jnside the bear. Overall the store was clean and very helpful staff. read more

If I could give 0 star I would it was 6:43 pm a female employee was stuffing a animal I asked her if we could come in she said no that they were closed I than said what time they closed she said 7pm so I said ok than she said it's 7pm I think so I said no it's 643pm than she said okay we are closed because we have get rid of the people inside the store there was only 7 customers in line to pay with a male Employee so I said well i just need to buy tennis shoes and black cap for the bear my daughter bought last week the female Employee said no so than a family of 4 paid and walked out of the store it was 647pm and 3 customers were left paying at the registered with the male Employee..I feel the female was very unprofessional she did not stop what she was doing and walk toward the entrance were I was with my daughter..I feel she was rude and unprofessional she would do handle it different since we knew what we needed. She could of stop what she was doing and walk towards us Instead of yelling from where she was at. read more

The mall closes at 7 and they stopped allowing people to come in at 6:20!! especially in a weekend. Don't recommend spending your money here, horrible service!! read more

My review is based solely on the "pay your age" event. Numerous people "cut" in front of us, people inviting there friends and family with kids. My kids got up early too to be here, security was informed and one of the associates from the store and they didn't seem to care! I wonder if the corporate would like to hear how unorganized it was and how customers concerns were overlooked. Tried to be extremely nice to the store manager and she tried to dismiss me. Thank you for a wonderful experience read more

Love this place super friendly staff and very professional and fun for kids of all ages even the kids at heart like myself.

Build a bear is the best!!! They have so many choices to choose from. Licensed characters, limited edition collectable plushies, cute bears or bunnies, every clothing and accessory under the sun. The staff is really friendly. I always feel comfortable coming here even at my age. Expect a plushie to total to $40-$45 after clothing + cost of plushie. The experience here is like no other. You can stuff your own plushie, give it a heart, pick out its clothes, and get a cute box with it. They even have voice boxes or heartbeats for a little extra. It's very colorful here. You also can get a birth certificate for your plushie over by the computers. Overall, most unique place for stuffed animals! read more

I wanted to go to build a bear for pay your age but it was too much of a hassle so i went the week after. I did not care much for the price. I have not gone to a build a bear in a long time, maybe 8 years? (i'm 19) But going back for my little brother's birthday (5 years old) was a lot of fun. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They made it super fun for my little brother. They had a brushing station to help make his bear look nice and a cute house box for the purchase! Later that day we realized that they stuffed the bear a little too much so I went back the next day and they were happy to help! Love them! read more

I had a horrible experience here.... after the sales girl asked me if I needed help and I said yes I started to explain what I was looking for ...midsentence she turned around start's helping another customer and doesn't say anything to me...when she finally came back she didn't say she was sorry for just up and leaving in the middle of my question..... when I finally got my question out she didn't have the answer so she went to ask someone else which I was fine with....... The girl who came to answer my question didn't have the proper uniform on and she just comes over and says no we don't have that in a nasty tone...... then when I corrected her and showed her online she got mad rolled her eyes and walked away...... after that I left and I will not come back. read more

I swore I would NEVER step foot inside a Build A Bear, but my daughter got a gift card and a discount coupon to boot, so we ended up here. The staff was nice, but it is sooooo damn expensive. It's a damn stuffed animal, geez. They sell clothes for these animals at the same cost of what you would spend on your child. You know you can get the same damn stuffed animal for a third of what you're going to pay just because you get to "build" it yourself and you get to create a birth certificate (rolling my eyes). So okay, it's a girly thing...I get it, it's cute. But as a parent, this is one way to screw you out of money. Luckily, the animal my daughter wanted was on sale ($15), and I only allowed her to pick the outfits that were on sale..2 for $15, and I got her animal some glasses at regular price just because the rest of the stuff I didn't have to pay for. And how much do you want to bet she'll play with it for a few days and it'll be discarded along with her other 50 stuffed animals!! read more
