Very cute toy store in Pasadena with a diverse selection of items not limited to dinosaurs as the name might have you believe but they do have a large selection of dinosaurs books, figures, and plushy's. I brought my niece here because it said they sold jelly cats, and I got her a few of them Coupled with some slime. I really appreciate that they also had a section for books educational books at that. Overall very cute store my niece had a wonderful time. :)

I was looking for a well stocked Toy Story and was directed to the Dino farm. I called ahead and they answered quickly and did not mind walking over and confirm they had hot wheels tracks (what my son wanted), with enough options for him to be able to choose. Arrived at the store with my toddler at 4 pm on a Wednesday. There is free street parking that we used, but I believe there may be some parking in the back as well. This was delightful decorated story pack with toys (name brand and otherwise). There were 2 ladies working and they clearly love kids and their job. They did not mind that my son wanted to play with anything and everything. We hung out in the store for an hour and spent about $100 on a hot wheel track, some hot wheels, a book and a game. Are they as cheap as Amazon meh but not tons pricier and you pay for the service and experience as well so I didn't mind. Great trip 10 out of 10 recommend a trip to this store if only to get that magical toy store feeling that toys r us used to give!

Last Sunday afternoon, my family and I had a very uncomfortable experience while visiting this store. We are locals and finally found time for a family visit. My son's initially loved the colors and the variety of stock. However, upon coming in we were greeted with immediate stares. The vibe was def off. There were at least five people behind the register and no one said hello or offered assistance. While we appreciate the diversity of the library the inclusivity was not met with the same energy. My husband and I, being a family of color, ultimately didn't feel welcome in the store. It was if we were the first people of color to shop there. We purchased quite a few things in-spite of the energy. One of the books happened to be a board book on Juneteenth, where one of your cashiers proceeded to wish us a "Happy Juneteenth" (in reference to a book we purchased) on our way out. Overall, we felt studied and stalked; not free to explore the business as respectful paying customers. Reading back to other previous reviews, we're not the only ones who have had customer service issues.

Such lovely gift wrap!!

I'm a nanny for a little girl in South Pasadena and after school today I asked her if she wanted to check out the toy store across the street from where we were and she answered an excited YES!! She told me that this is her favorite toy store and I can see why~ they have an excellent selection of books, toys, Thomas the tank engine trains and of course dinosaur goodies as well! The staff was super nice and courteous!! Great energy in the store! They also do gift wrapping! Parking was ample and easy to find! Come out and support this wonderful store!! Family owned and over 20 years in business! Thank you Dinosaur Farm!

I came here with my son for a bit different experience. It is just a shop but with dinosaur theme. I and my son enjoyed everything here, while I expected dinosaur but this shop basically has all other toys too. I brought my son to draw his interest on dinosaur but ended up with playing cars again. But still, if your childten loves dinosaur, this is the place to visit.

Great place for children gifts. They gift wrap for free.

Located on the corner of Main Street and Garfield Ave, it is a great place to visit while going for a stroll in the heart of downtown Alhambra. Plenty of great eateries and cinemas in the vicinity as well. A free parking garage is conveniently accessible right behind the shop, in addition to street parking. Although the shop is small, they were able to feature hundreds of items without it being overwhelming. As a newbie to the current line of collectibles, Top Canvas serves as a great introduction to the new trend. As I walked in, a young woman politely greeted me and offered me assistance. Upon request, she promptly directed me to the Mofusand plushies and a wall of keychains. She took down the plushies from the shelves, so I could take a good look at all of them. And then, I spotted one very adorable Hello Kitty plushie holding a strawberry which totally makes a great Valentine's Day gift. For less than twenty bucks, I quickly secured my choice and went on to explore the rest of the shop. The average prices range from $9.99 to $29.99, so you can build up your collections without breaking the bank. Top Canvas is a great place for buying gifts on a budget, as they offer so many cute things for under $20. I also purchased 2 Lokiki blind box plushies as gifts. The gift recipient seems to love it, because it's always fun to open up a blind box. She totally adores her Lokiki plushie. Without a doubt, the highlight of my visit is the wall of Mofusand keychains! At $9.99 each, big or small, these are just too darn cute to pass up. I want them all!! Some of the more expensive and fragile collectibles are showcased behind glass. Great for avid collectors!! Tired of shopping on Amazon like me?? Then support your local business and come to Top Canvas. It's so much more fun to go shopping at a brick-and-mortar store where one can actually physically feel and touch what they're buying.

There is a free public parking structure behind the store. Some of their blind boxes are slightly cheaper than same boxes at other similar collectible stores. The anime selection is above average and there's a giant Capsule Corp background (from Dragon Ball) and a giant Luffy figure (from One Piece) to take pictures with. The One Piece trading card vending machine was out of service at the time of my visit. This is one of those stores that is great to at least stop by for those who are into anime or Sanrio plushies. Personally, I still prefer Ebisu Life Store a bit better. P.S. - Due to limited availability of pennies, cash totals are rounded to the nearest $0.05.

The emphasis, though, is primarily new and recent comics. Passing through on a rainy afternoon I was pleased to find its location is near a few important stops in Pasadena, and there's some parking available in the private lot. I was mostly there to check out the selection and see if they specialized in anything unique. Not to say they don't, but it's still a well-stocked store. I was the only customer and enjoyed the classic jazz playing in the background. Pro Tip: Most established comic shops have subscription plans paid annually, or one-time up front. A customer goes through Comic Book Geek to pick their titles and sometimes preferred cover art, and the shop pulls their requests and holds them until the customer picks up the stash.

Only critiques I would give it would be to have a little more for the other collectors. And what I mean by that, have a couple more action figures, Funko, pops, etc. that will probably bring in some more people for sure. The other thing would bethe music playing in the speakers. Didn't care too much for the rock, but still all in all, nice place to go. There's plenty of parking and easy to find.

I've lived in HLP for over a decade now and kept putting off a visit to Comics VS Toys for one…read morereason or another. When the urge to buy comics struck, I would default to the Pasadena stores - you know the ones - and man was that a mistake. I used to be an avid collector in the 90s, and Bali Books in Alhambra was my sanctuary. Every other store, no matter how good the selection, just felt impersonal. I recently decided to start reading issues in real time instead of waiting for TPBs, and of course that meant I needed a pull list. One stop at Comics VS Toys and dammit I feel like a 12 year old all over again. The owner, Ace, immediately took my requests and helped fill in some recent back issues I missed out on. Luckily my current list is staggered and I have a legitimate excuse to pick up my stack every week. And the staff is awesome, like your favorite neighborhood bar tenders. See ya next week! Though I did enjoy the t-shirts that they had on display. I am a comics fan and, if I had all day, I would be able to go through this entire place's inventory. But I found it wasn't organized in a way that I found easy to navigate. There were definitely some comic favorites of mine, or titles that I was interested in, but I came upon them randomly. And most weren't where I was expecting them. Interestingly enough, the comics were exclusively (or almost exclusively) Western comics. I didn't see any manga. There are, of course, shops entirely devoted to manga, but I've seen few comics shops that didn't have a few titles, given their popularity. The clerk on duty was neither outgoing nor unfriendly. Which, honestly, I'm fine with. When it comes to stores with lots of merchandise, as long as I can find someone to ask a question, I'm happy. I don't need someone breathing down my neck. While I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, I might browse if I was in the area.
