Here are my thoughts: Pros: -Easy parking -Friendly staff (greeted immediately, left me alone when I told them I was looking, ready to help immediately when I made eye contact, answered my questions. My most recent experience was less than stellar. While it is nice that they have upgraded and expanded both their space and the products they carry (more bulk bins, more tcgs, etc), they are far more One Piece-heavy and appeal to "higher end collectors". They probably would take you more seriously if you're a guy looking like you'll drop your paycheck on product or one that would take 20+ minutes sorting out a trade. On their busy days, I would not recommend casual collectors to come as they will not even acknowledge you. ProjectCCG is a trading card store in Alhambra. There's limited street parking. It's near plazas with plenty of restaurants/stores - I parked at one of the nearby plaza lots and walked over. One of the most exciting things in the store is the rare and graded Pokémon card wall display. Some are around $20-$50, others are in the hundreds price range. I personally loved seeing all the grade 10 full arts and the early edition cards. There's also many boxes of regular Pokémon cards to look through. It's $1 for 10 cards. They also havedisplays of non graded full arts and rare cards for sale, ranging from $1-$20 per card (you'd ask the staff for exact pricing). Used to come here alot, it's so crowded in here, not a bad thing. They got so much selections, the stores layout changed. They got s bunch of people at the counters to help and buy from you. Service is good. They help out when they can, usually will honor the line of who they see came first. Came on a whim and the place was packed. They easily had 4 people behind the table to help people out with stuff. I was helped by two guys. One that showed me some Pokemon cards and the other for questions I had about Yu-gi-oh! cards. Everyone was pretty nice and very informative. They didn't belittle or make fun of me for being a novice on cards. They were just excited to use their knowledge and answer my questions! Prices of cards here varies. I wouldn't say their are cheap or expensive. Prices are based on the market value. I found myself spending about 30 bucks here. I'm sure people have spent much much more. One of the biggest card shops in the SGV area. Conveniently walking distance from Three Fields Coffee (try their Matcha! Also love the black sesame cold foam latte), Chicha San Chen (best tea), 7 Leaves Cafe (Vietnamese House Coffee) and all the good food in the area. I got into Pokemon cards recently and it feels like a nice treat to just come in and oogle at all the cards in display. And maybe buy a few trying to refrain from dropping a few hundred dollars which inevitably happens in the hobby. read more

They have a wide selection of tcg, pokemon, mtg, star wars, etc and are one of the only close tcg spots to me. Unfortunately they have amassive issue with wait times and communication when it's busy. No idea where the line is, employees pass you by not saying a word or letting you know how long it'll be until someone, if any one at all, will get to you. Been more than 2 times I go in and just end up waiting at the card case to the point where I just leave empty handed. Tl;Dr Nice shop with plenty of tcg products but nearly impossible to get any help when it's busy. I want to support local tcg shops but I'm not going to spend 1hr waiting to buy 4 bosster packs. read more

I really like that they have bulk cards 10 for $1. It keeps me busy while the hubs look at the more expensive ones at the counter, and sometimes he helps me look through the pile for random cute common cards. Place is clean and everyone is pretty nice! read more

Partner came for a one-piece tournament this weekend, and I have to say it is a pretty nice shop. Plenty of space, lots of tables, and a good amount of AC! I've been to so many shops where it is hot and humid and this was quite pleasant despite the large number of people! Also, major props for the girls' bathroom! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Price was reasonable l, yet I paid a little more than msrp since this deck was hard to find. Walked in, no greeting, no acknowledgment, was standing in front of the display case for a good 10 minutes and no help till I had to be a @ss and ask if any worked there. Finally got someone to attend me. Wouldn't recommend. Also they're price gouging Gundam booster boxes, selling them for $250!!! I called the manager out for RESEALED packs + fingerprints inside and he got defensive. They have a good Pokemon singles selection that is mostly market price. Their trade in percentage is at 75% and 25cents for ex and V cards. I traded in $40 worth of cards for a prismatic minitin and $10 cash on top. It's a good thing I opened it in the store because the minitin was clearly resealed. I have video evidence of myself opening it from the plastic wrapping. There were fingerprints inside the back of the tin and the second pack I opened (after doing the card trick to put the energy in front) had the last three cards as a 1. pokeball amarys 2. reverse holo carmine 3. reverse holo goldeen, when it should be a 1. reverse/pokeball 2. reverse/masterball/sir 3. holo/trainer. Reverse holo is never in the last spot. Having opened over 100 prismatic packs I would think that this could be a factory error if there were not fingerprints inside the tin. I pointed this out to the manager and instead of being surprised that there was such an error and the possibility of resealed product, he got super defensive and angry enough that he opened two more minitins in front of me to prove a point. Either he is angry his distributor is scamming him or he is in on the scam and I called him out. I kept reassuring that I wasn't blaming him, I was blaming his supplier. I did have to ask for a refund because they were reluctant in giving me any compensation. His reputation selling resealed products is on the line. Probably wouldn't go back here after coming for a while I've done big dollar trades with them and have bought cash with them too, but this time since I wasn't bringing in high dollar value stuff it seemed like they didn't even wanna talk to me, in the middle of evaluating cards the person who was doing my deal left me without even saying anything to open a one piece case to the point another worker had to come and take over, they have cards listed as LP that are clearly MP it seems like they only care if you have big money to spend or trade for I won't be coming back here again sucks when you see a shop let the hype get to them... read more

Sadly just not worth it to come here anymore. Just last year I came across this shop for Pokemon cards and it was great. When Stellar Crown launched, I got fantastic deals on the ETB and Booster Box. Legit below retail prices for pre-ordering them. Surging Sparks was also fine, I bought a couple ETBs from them with no issue. But once Prismatic Evolutions hit, and ever since, their prices have skyrocketed. Now it's all about greed. Everything is at top market price or higher, even though they are surely getting some of this stuff wholesale. It makes me sad. I can't just go in and buy sealed cards for retail price, instead I'm staring at $300+ price tags. I honestly don't know how they can sit there with straight faces and tell you the price for some of this stuff. I fully understand that rare singles are going to be pricey... But sealed new release stuff? Why? Because the market demand is high? This is not how you keep customers. I live walking distance from this place and am an avid Pokemon TCG collector and now I'm never going back there. That's pretty telling of how bad it's gotten. Also... staff are a lot of immature younger guys who don't have good customer service. There's no structure to a line at the register... people are just all sort of hovering around. I don't know when I'm supposed to go up to pay for stuff because I'm afraid the staff is in the middle of helping someone but it's hard to tell. They need to be more communicative and actually look at you and say "are you ready to check out" or "give me just a second I'm helping out this other customer" or SOMETHING. Not just stand there. Finally, I wouldn't bring kids into this store either, because they play music with extremely offensive/adult lyrics pretty much all day long. I see little 8 year old kids in there and then I hear f bombs coming from their radio while the guy behind the counter sings along. I dunno, it's not a very family friendly atmosphere. They should honestly be ashamed of the price stickers they put on some of the new sealed product they put out. It's laughably overpriced. Once the hype for Pokemon TCG dies back down, they are going to be struggling to stay in business due to losing a large amount of loyal customers over this greed. The first interaction with this card shops was calling them to ask to entertain my son by buying some cards from my 4 year old son. He had just some really cheap bulk he wanted to sell and I was hoping the shop would just buy them from him to show him the value of getting rid of extra stuff for money that he can save. Jonathan did just that, took in all his card and gave him his first 3 dollars for the cards. This really impacted my son's view on other adults and kindness that can come from small interaction with other adults outside of family. From that point on he loves going to this shop and developed a friendship with Justin and Jonathan. The service and experience these two provided for my son is something I didn't expect to gain from a visit to a card shop. Some good people at this shop! read more

They are open pretty often, and the only card shop near me that has a community like atmosphere. The people who work there seem to know customers on a first name basis. The pricing can be expensive since its based off the current market, however if you go to release days for a set then they'll have them close to or if not retail price. I've never had a bad experience with the store, and I've even sold some of my cards here for a really good price. I can't say for certain how much they offer, but expect close to market with a little off the top for them to sell when it comes to trade value. If you're looking for Yu-Gi-Oh cards specifically this is a good place since they're willing to check market prices and give you a deal compared to retail. This might a small thing too, but taxes are included and they always charge round numbers. Also they have a ton of bulk cards if you want to fill your binder up for specific Pokemon illustrators or Yu-Gi-Oh archetypes. Its fairly cheap only $1 for 10. The staff act like frat house brothers with rap music blasting in the background which isn't a bad thing. They're like the friendly and chill frat house brothers with a chin flick that go "whats up bro did you need any help?" and fist bump you. They originally had a couch in there, but I'm not sure where that went. It really gave it that lived in look. Overall its pretty clean, they keep a trashcan in front of the register for people to empty out their bad pulls, although I've never seen much trash there besides food so it might be a skill issue for some. read more

Finally decided to check this place out as we always pass by it. Came here Saturday afternoon. Looked like there was a tournament happening. It was busy when we came but wasn't too bad. Several tables set up for people to play and hang out. There was also another section for common Pokemon and other cards that were available at 10 for $1 which was pretty good especially since my son wanted some. They also some individual cards for sale in their glass case as well as packs and boxes behind the counter. Staff was nice and helped quote us a few individual cards. Overall good experience and chill place if you like TCG. read more

Honestly it is sick that up charge so much for Pokemon. They sell at market despite getting pre orders for being a play store so they get their product for cheap and resell for super inflated prices this is wrong. Magic the gathering section is subpar. Don't' come on a Saturday because you will be fighting with other people trying to get service. The workers don't ask you if you need help. They just stand there and ignore you. You basically have to slap them in the face to notice you. I've been here multiple times and this is a common occurrence. What a wonderful store. My boys are just getting into Pokemon cards and this store is perfect. They have these giant boxes of single pokemon cards where you can just get 10 cards for a dollar. Came to sell some cards, got help, then tried buying cards, but the employee said I need to order from the website or wait until thursday for the employee that is in charge of the specific card game to come in to help. The whole shop feels sleazy and disorganized; it's impossible to get decent service from any of the employees. Also noticed that the employees are extremely weird towards girls, both a friend of mine and myself have noticed this. I don't think I'll be coming back here due to the lack of quality and care in customer service, seeing other reviews attesting to resealed packs and the management's reaction seems to speak for itself as well on the matter. read more
