Something I do appreciate about their store is that they limit the amount of (insert popular product here) you can buy per person. You cannot imagine the joy I had when I ran into their booth at a con & found out they were opening a shop! I LOVED Desunation when it still existed. One of my top anime shops for sure so I was really sad when they closed. Paper Cola is run by the same kind, helpful owners & if you've read my review for Desunation ages ago, then you'll know how much I adore the shop. If it's not obvious to the normies and casuals out there, I am a HUGE hopeless Fate/Type Moon fan and Paper Cola is one of the few shops that stock a lot of the kuji, limited release items from events in Japan, and merch that's beyond what you usually see. They are the ONLY store where I have gotten FGO art books without pre-ordering or arranging something in advance. With FGO becoming somewhat less popular and common at cons & amongst cosplayers, I'm so happy that I can rely on Paper Cola in satisfying my crippling addiction. Alright for those who are NOT Fate fans, I can guarantee to you this is a one of a kind anime store compared to what's out there in SoCal (don't believe me ? I do run a SoCal anime adventures & food panel at cons !). They have a bunch of Hololive & Vtuber goods, Twisted Wonderland, Genshin Impact, JJK, etc and the series you also see everywhere (Demon Slayer, MHA, SAO, DBZ, Naruto, etc.). There's stationery and cute character merchandise of Sanrio and San-x characters at very reasonable prices (eyeing that $30 Rilakkuma watch). There's also some gacha blind box figures, Pokémon cards & merchandise too. Literally something for everyone ! They also have kuji for several series if you wanna try your luck inside the store. While I was there, they were playing lots of the Vtuber music videos on their TVs as well. I went during their grand opening and received a small gift (so generous!) and every $20 would earn you a raffle ticket for raffles every hour (WHICH I WON BOTH THE REGULAR AND GRAND PRIZE!! Being a somewhat IRL dolphin pays off I suppose). They also have a Fivestars point system where each dollar spent is a point! Nice! I AM 100% COMING BACK & BEING A REPEAT CUSTOMER. I'm still eyeing that Rozen Maiden and Garden of Sinners small figure set and Tsukihime wall scrolls & I'm looking forward to more imported FGO art books and other Type Moon goods. visited this cute lil trinket & hobby shop on the intersection of w las tunas dr & s mission drive! its adjacent to the paris baguette/bonchon plaza, but not in the same plaza. parking: they have a tinyyyyy lot for the business with like 3-4 spots service: the employees seem passionate about their job & the selection they carry thus making them great. theyre friendly and knowledgeable selection: is diverse! from your favorite animes/mangas/studio ghibli/sanrio/pokemon, they have it all. things like plushies, keychains, posters, and knick knacks. theyre also authorized (sonny angel dealers btw) value: overall things are prettttty pricey here, so keep this in mine. its a nice place to get a nicer gift for someone who loves all of this cute stuff tho :) overall: 5/5 only note to have is that the parking is limited & theyre a little more pricey than normal read more

I really enjoy the selections at Paper Cola, especially their Gachas and Smiskis! The owners are friendly and gave me a super helpful tip to follow their Instagram to get updates on their Smiski restocks. I think it's unique how they allow customers to trade their Smiskis with the ones in their showcases as long as they are not dupes and damaged. There's plenty of parking at the back plaza or street parking if you prefer. I recently pick up a new habit that I'm not too proud of. My new addiction to Sonny Angels and Smiskis. I was so happy to have found PaperCola. They have a huge variety like anime, figures, cute collectibles, stationeries to kujis. The workers are super friendly and helpful. They typically have most of the series available, and they offer trades in case you get a duplicate! Sometimes when my husband and I venture to different cities we search for anime shops. And it just happened that we were near this little gem. My husband is a Gundam fan. And because we went during his birthday week and he had been such a great partner while my foot was healing, I decided to go bankrupt and got him two kits that bugged his eyes out. Okay. Not bankrupt, but it was still...$200? Which apparently was a good deal here in the states! Also, these weren't just ANY Gundam merch - They were special - Like...You had to win a special ticket in Japan to even shop for these kits. So of course he had to have it. I highly recommend you come here if you're a Gundam fan and want to see some unique kits that you may not be able to find at your local store. The shop has all kinds of trinkets, models, pens, notebooks, blind boxes, posters, lanyards, other stationary, models, Pokemon, Sanrio, and more that I can't remember. Overall, I think this store is priced well and they have a lot of variety. If I'm in the area again I'd definitely check this place out. They are located caddy corner to Bopomofo Cafe. Parking can be difficult as they are in an area with a lot of restaurants, but there's parking in the Bobomofo lot, in front of El Pollo Loco, and there's a Bank parking lot not too far away. Walked in after lunch with my girlfriend in Mission View Plaza (about a 5 minute walk) into Paper Cola and was amazed at how much stuff was packed into such a small shop! The staff were very informative and attentive! I believe her name was Crystal, very friendly and helpful. Ended up buying more than initially planned but don't regret it! They have a bunch of Chinese Pokemon cards which is what caught our attention but they also have a wide variety of cute blind boxes as well. Will definitely be visiting again soon! read more

I don't write reviews on here often, but I wanted to take some time to rave about how awesome this store is! I come here quite often and I have to say that this store is a MUST if you are an anime fan. This one is really unique compared to other anime stores in the area. They carry merch you won't typically see outside of Japan from lines like Hololive (lots of it!), Natsume Yuujinchou, Cardcaptor Sakura, Detective Conan, Fate, Bocchi The Rock, and more! What's more, the prices are very fair considering the selection and online availability of certain items. The most unique part about the store to me is that they have doujinshi fan art books (ranging from VTubers, JJK, Railgun, Naruto, etc) imported straight from Japan and even from Comiket from when it was happening. Some of these are really hard to buy if you're not in Japan, so it's really awesome to see the selection here! What's more, the owners are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about a lot of their items and series they carry. They rotate their items quite often, so they post their new items daily on their Instagram stories @papercola_shop. Really helpful to see which items they have up next! read more
