Stopped in for my first time today, and I was really impressed! I noticed that they are celebrating their 20 year anniversary, which I think is really great. I also met the owner, who was extremely welcoming and friendly, and also mentioned that the next generation in her family, also works there, which I think is also really cool. They have one of the largest squishy selections I've seen, and everything else in the store is also a great candidate for a great gift. They had a limited NeeDoh selection as well, and the way it works is that you have to spend $40 in store and then you can purchase a NeeDoh. They also had many different dumplings from RMS to Bun and a whole host of other superviral squishies as well. They honestly have a really great selection and it's located in a really pretty part of downtown Whittier. I really enjoyed speaking with the owner and I would highly recommend if you are on the hunt for a toy, game, or gift. read more

Didn't buy anything, but this place just has lots of little knickknacks that are cool to look at. It has a nostalgic, classic toy/candy store vibe with both modern and classic toys, board games, candies, and sodas. Inside is a little chaotic and claustrophobic but that kind of adds to the experience. Staff members seemed friendly and helpful, based on how they were interacting with other customers. I would come back during the Holidays or when I need to find unique gifts for friends. This place has some funky flavored sodas like peanut butter & jelly, and bacon. read more

This is definitely one of our favorite places to visit when we are in uptown Whittier! The variety as well as the staff are always amazing! We recently stopped by to find nee-dohs and were pleasantly surprised to find the collection they had. Heaven was very helpful and informative. Thank you to the wishing well staff! We will see you soon! read more

Date of visit: January 17, 2026 Selections: Dad's Blue Cream Soda Experience: My husband wanted me to check this store out for my own after bringing me a soda that was Enchiladas flavored, which is still left unopened in the fridge cause that's just weird lolz The store was a mix of sodas and sweets in the front and then various kids toys and games from the middle to the back. They also had some mystery boxes as well as squishy toys for sale as well. After browsing through everything, I settled for a Dad's Blue Cream Soda that the cashier was kind enough to get for me since it was on the back of the highest shelf that was out of reach for me. Definitely would've bought some of their Swedish Bubs candy, but they were unfortunately sold out. read more

I love this store! My daughter does, too! It's one of her favorite places to stop when we're in Uptown Whittier. It's kind of messy and we're trying to figure out what they're doing in the back of the store where the stage is, but they have really old toys in stock that aren't easy to find! read more

Came to The Wishing Well for a valentines themed Jellycat, unfortunately they were sold out of the one we wanted (we even waited in line 30 minutes prior to opening!) Despite that, I had a great time with my family just browsing the store. Plenty of unique toys, nostalgia and generally fun stuff to look at. The staff were friendly and the store is absolutely awesome. I'd come by again to pick up something for my daughter, and maybe something for myself.. read more

My family and I ABSOLUTLY LOVE the Wishing Well. We've been bringing our 2 children here since 2006 I think. It's a super fun toy store and the candy and soda section that keeps bring us in. It's a family run shop and they are fun and really kind to me and both my children. My kids pick the wishing well over ice cream, the bakery or anything. If you haven't been here before its worth a stroll. You need to check every nook and cranny because the treasure and nostalgia are endless. This place reminds me of my child hood. For me the welcoming voices and banter are the best. I like that my kids FEEL as if they are coming to see old friends. That makes me feel good. It's like me and my friends playing uptown in the it's. Thank you guys if you read this. It's nice to have a place like this so my kids can interact and be welcomed. read more

I've been coming to this store for years because it was always authentic, welcoming, and had friendly customer service. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. The store now seems focused on selling overhyped collectible toys at highly inflated prices. What was even more concerning is that some of these items appeared to be replicas rather than authentic products, yet they were being sold for well above their original retail value. We got 2 mini dumplings for $9 each. We got in the car and it had a hole in the bottom, sadly the store states no returns or exchanges if popped even though we just walked out. How are we suppose to know that they may be popped before opening them, where is the logic? Another frustrating experience was that certain sections of the store were closed off, and customers were only allowed to view them in groups of six at a time. This created unnecessary waiting and made the shopping experience feel restrictive. The teenagers at the cashier had us wait while they finished their conversation to charge us, full on conversation about the breaks and hot dogs. Lastly, I was charged an additional fee for using my debit card. I received a text receipt showing a total of $64.13, but when I went back to request an itemized breakdown, the printed receipt showed $61.70. When I asked about the difference, I was told it was a charge of $2.43 for using a debit card instead of cash. The lack of transparency was frustrating, especially since there was no itemized breakdown showing this charge in writing. It's disappointing to see a store that once felt genuine and customer focused move in this direction. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously and considers returning to the authenticity and service that made this place special in the first place. read more

I've been here a couple of times and I've never had a problem until today. I went inside to look at the needohs and squishies, and while I was looking around, some cashier (tall, short brown hair, female) asks me if I needed help but I simply shook my head and said "no thank you. I'm just looking around" so she took the squishy from my hand and said "okay" ??? I don't know why she did that because I don't see how I was doing anything wrong? I was just looking and she came out of nowhere to take the item out of my hand like I wasn't still looking at it. read more

I love the unique selection of toys and candy in this store. I've bought many things here over the years. The last time I stopped in, there were little pug figures that looked just like my pugs. The store is cute with many toys and candy but a little pricey for my taste. I bought candy for 4 kids and spent over 40.00 - OUCH!!

Do better. Like any parent going to find a toy for their kid use social media to bait people, get there and they all of sudden can't sell what's on display. "Can only sell 2 per person" "we can't sell those cause they are on display" "doing holds on phone" "oh no we don't do that" but did. Be fair and that's it. Sold out sign would be better. A toy store that will probably be gone in the next year or so. Regret ever giving them our money: mind you getting things every other 2-3 weeks. Lesson learned. Buy online don't waste coming here. I am giving a 1 star because my receipt total does not reflect what my total is on my bank statement. I called to get clarification and I got a lot of "ugghs" "maybes" and I'm not sure". This was our first time there and it will be our last. I told several people about the place last night but I will be taking back the "you need to go there" recommendations. I made two purchases yesterday. The first time I was not offered a receipt. I am now questioning if I was charged correctly. The second time I was asked if I wanted one. I am still contacting DMS to make sure their practices are best practice. On a positive note the store has a lot of merchandise and the female employees were very friendly and helpful. If you still choose to go there: pay in cash, ask for a receipt and don't get a bag because they make up prices. (I was given one bag and charged for 3). Just be cautious! As a consumer I don't want to shop at a business I feel is taking advantage of me. read more

I've been coming here for a very very long time now. Mostly for candy. It's a cool place, even though I understand the employees may not be the friendliest. I recommend stopping by if you are in the area, they have a lot of stuff. read more

Today I took my 2 granddaughters shopping to buy the famous squishy some they had on the floor others they have behind the counter, The store was very busy the girls made a selection, We wanted to purchase two items behind the counter. The clerk held two of the items asked the the girls 8 & 10 which one they wanted to purchase, I told him I will take both, The girls were very excited about the new purchases when we got in the car the 10 yr old opened one items that was behind the counter. We noticed it had a small hole and white stuff came out we went right away back into the store to try to get exchange it within 1 minute the clerk that helped us hesitated mind you I just spent $96 in the store he told me he had to call the owner. I waited for them just to tell me all sales were final. My 10 yr. granddaughter was very disappointed that the $15.00 squishy she just purchased had a hole in it and now was no good. Although they did have a sign posted at the register, unfortunately there was a stuffed Labubu blocking the sign. I give the store one star unfortunately the owner lack any compassion for children and did not want to make it right & clerk did apologize he was only doing what the owner had asked him to do, My suggestion is to look thoroughly before purchasing any items at this store. read more

I have been going to this store since I was a kid, now I take my nieces and nephews to this store to buy toys and treats. I love their soda section and little toys they have throughout the store. I'm happy they still have a puppet section since I plan to buy a few for my nieces who enjoy puppet shows. 10/10 experience the last time I have been there. The staff are friendly and helpful especially when I have any questions asked. The prices seem reasonable and their merchandise is great quality! I love this shop! read more

The manager or owner named Steph needs to get customer service classes she is extremely rude, my daughter and I went to buy squishys and a dumpling we spend over $60 when my daughter opens the dumpling it was leaking so we went back inside to ask to exchange it, mind you we had just walked out with receipt in hand, and the older man at the counter was very nice telling that lady Steph that we just walked out and she was like is final sale are you going to break the policy for her ?! Ma'am like what do you mean for her? Because I am Hispanic or what is that mean ? She is rude I wouldn't recommend anyone go there plus they're over priced too, I only went there cause my daughter and we drove from far too she needs to work on her customer service the young people and the older man are nice but not her she shouldn't be dealing with the public. read more

Went in today and purchased what I thought would be a glitter dumpling but it came out to be not that. I was aware that they had different types of dumplings so I made sure I grabbed the right one and saw that the bottom was labeled with a G for glitter. I am just upset that I am not getting what I payed for and they should not false advertise their toys. I know I can't get a refund but will like what I payed for. read more

It's a cute toy and sweets shop located in downtown Whittier. Great to kill some time in, especially when there's an event going on and it's surprisingly opened pretty late too (10 PM on a Saturday evening). There's plushies, puppets, little fidget toys and knick knacks, themed toys after dinosaurs, holidays, animals, and much more. I surprisingly found 25 cent Fushigi Yugi keychains?? Very random and a series that I haven't seen since I was in elementary school. They also carry (but were currently out of) Sonny Angels and Smiskis for all you K-pop individuals out there. In addition to toys, there's candies of all kinds and origins and those novelty bottled sodas (think of Leninade and Ranch Soda). It's a fun stop for sure. read more

This is a really cute store that easily transports you back in time if you're a millenial like me or beyond. They have so many old school toys and snacks, and a lot of newer things too. We discovered this store about two years ago and we have been going back ever since. Our first time here, my son fell in love with the train set in the back and enjoyed playing there with my husband while I shopped around the store. That is when I found my son's favorite book "You Choose," and we read it every night for more nights than I can count. I've never seen that book anywhere else, and I've noticed they have a lot of unique items in general. I recently came back and bought another "You Choose" to gift to someone else and a few other goodies. My only gripe is that I wish they had a bigger selection of books. The last time I was there, the bookshelf was blocked by a rotating display of other small activity books and I could hardly access it. I had to try to get behind it in order to grab the book I wanted. And they seemed to be running low on books in general. I love the idea of shopping for books here that you can't easily find anywhere else. I would love to see a wider variety of them and have them more accessible. Service is mostly good, but I think it depends how busy they are and who is working. Overall, it's a great store and definitely worth checking out. read more

Thank you to the amazing staff here at this toy store. Thank you for keeping up with the latest trends and selling them at such affordable prices. Every time I'm in town I always stop by to get something. Being small business Saturday I stopped by to get something for my kids. I wanted to get some of the Maileg accessories and they had an empty box for the pumpkin carriage. I asked if the item is suppose to be inside and the guy said he would asked his boss. A lady walked in and he asked her if the box is suppose to have an item or is it just the box. The lady grabbed the box and shook it and said it's just a fucking box and handed the box annoyingly to the young guy. So an empty box that's suppose to have an item is $50? read more

P-A-U-L one day we'll get you a real pair of REDWINGS so you can retire those Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man pro wings that you got but that's OK. I'm proud of you I don't even know how you got that little tag that you put on the back of those shepherd boots of yours but the place is still awesome and this is my review.......... Wishingwell Toy Store is one of those rare places that hits you right in the childhood the moment you walk in. They've got a perfect mix of old-school toys and the new stuff kids are into now, so it's awesome for both parents and kids. The retro candy and soda section is seriously cool too -- total throwback. I wish they had a couple more root beer options, but honestly even what they carry is hard to find anywhere else, so it's still a win. Big shout-out to Paul. This guy is on another level when it comes to customer service. My daughter Leilani and I came in one night and bought a bunch of dollhouse items, and because we had taken a quad downtown, Paul actually drove our purchase to our house after the store closed. Who does that anymore? That kind of kindness and effort turns a quick shopping trip into something you don't forget. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend checking this place out. read more

This place is so bad I had to make a Yelp account just to leave this review. I went in to buy THREE small items: a NeeDoh Nice Cube ($10), a Snoopy pin ($2.50), and a Taba squishy ($7.00). My total should have been around $20. Instead, I was charged $44. They manually enter prices at the register instead of scanning them, which makes it way too easy to overcharge customers. I wasn't offered a receipt, and that now feels intentional. While I was checking out, the cashier kept talking and distracting me, which made it harder to pay attention to what was being entered. Afterward, I found out I'm not the only person this has happened to. That's extremely concerning. Please be very careful if you shop here. Watch the register closely, double-check the prices, and always ask for a receipt before you leave. It's really upsetting that a business would overcharge customers especially A TEENAGER . I will not be returning. read more
