It has a nostalgic, classic toy/candy store vibe with both modern and classic toys, board games, candies, and sodas. Inside is a little chaotic and claustrophobic but that kind of adds to the experience. Staff members seemed friendly and helpful, based on how they were interacting with other customers. This is definitely one of our favorite places to visit when we are in uptown Whittier! The variety as well as the staff are always amazing! They also had some mystery boxes as well as squishy toys for sale as well. After browsing through everything, I settled for a Dad's Blue Cream Soda that the cashier was kind enough to get for me since it was on the back of the highest shelf that was out of reach for me. Came to The Wishing Well for a valentines themed Jellycat, unfortunately they were sold out of the one we wanted (we even waited in line 30 minutes prior to opening!) The manager or owner named Steph needs to get customer service classes she is extremely rude, my daughter and I went to buy squishys and a dumpling we spend over $60 when my daughter opens the dumpling it was leaking so we went back inside to ask to exchange it, mind you we had just walked out with receipt in hand, and the older man at the counter was very nice telling that lady Steph that we just walked out and she was like is final sale are you going to break the policy for her ?! I feel like it is split in half, the front has snacks old ( old fashion and new) and the front also has newer toys and the back has more old fashion style toys. My family and I ABSOLUTLY LOVE the Wishing Well. We've been bringing our 2 children here since 2006 I think. It's a super fun toy store and the candy and soda section that keeps bring us in. It's a family run shop and they are fun and really kind to me and both my children. My kids pick the wishing well over ice cream, the bakery or anything. If you haven't been here before its worth a stroll. You need to check every nook and cranny because the treasure and nostalgia are endless. This place reminds me of my child hood. For me the welcoming voices and banter are the best. I like that my kids FEEL as if they are coming to see old friends. That makes me feel good. Today I took my 2 granddaughters shopping to buy the famous squishy some they had on the floor others they have behind the counter, The store was very busy the girls made a selection, We wanted to purchase two items behind the counter. The clerk held two of the items asked the the girls 8 & 10 which one they wanted to purchase, I told him I will take both, The girls were very excited about the new purchases when we got in the car the 10 yr old opened one items that was behind the counter. We noticed it had a small hole and white stuff came out we went right away back into the store to try to get exchange it within 1 minute the clerk that helped us hesitated mind you I just spent $96 in the store he told me he had to call the owner. I waited for them just to tell me all sales were final. My 10 yr. granddaughter was very disappointed that the $15.00 squishy she just purchased had a hole in it and now was no good. Although they did have a sign posted at the register, unfortunately there was a stuffed Labubu blocking the sign. I give the store one star unfortunately the owner lack any compassion for children and did not want to make it right & clerk did apologize he was only doing what the owner had asked him to do, My suggestion is to look thoroughly before purchasing any items at this store. read more

This place is so bad I had to make a Yelp account just to leave this review. I went in to buy THREE small items: a NeeDoh Nice Cube ($10), a Snoopy pin ($2.50), and a Taba squishy ($7.00). My total should have been around $20. Instead, I was charged $44. They manually enter prices at the register instead of scanning them, which makes it way too easy to overcharge customers. I wasn't offered a receipt, and that now feels intentional. While I was checking out, the cashier kept talking and distracting me, which made it harder to pay attention to what was being entered. Afterward, I found out I'm not the only person this has happened to. That's extremely concerning. Please be very careful if you shop here. Watch the register closely, double-check the prices, and always ask for a receipt before you leave. It's really upsetting that a business would overcharge customers especially A TEENAGER . Once they posted on IG that nee dohs were dropping at 4pm with the post stating 2 per costumer on the flyer, My husband, and I decided to each buy 2 following the rules, after waiting in line for 3 hours, as we approached the front of the line my daughter and I went first to buy her set, then after my husband went to buy the second set for our son who wasn't with us, once my husband approached the front the lady was refusing to sell him any because she said we were in the same group and that wasn't allowed, no where in the post said anything about 2 per group or family she was extremely rude, after a small disagreement she let him buy two because she knew it was wrong to change the rules on the spot. They need to be more specific on the post. Also they don't see kids as paying customers even if they have their money, again they don't post this information. I posted a picture of the post of their story, it's unfortunate the owner isn't clear about the rules even if they been in business for a long time. I've given this place multiple chances as I love to support small businesses and my kids enjoy looking around whenever we are Uptown. I was looking for a gift the other morning and decided to see if I could find something here. Before entering I was waiting for my coffee next door at La Monarca. Right outside the store an employee was snacking and talking with friends dropping F bombs and talking crap about how "F-ing Local Fixture sells Needohs for blah blah blah". I know it was an employee because she was wearing her Wishing Well badge and red apron. It was just a turn off to the whole store. You're a kids toy store and your language and attitude towards another small business is gross. I wasn't going to say anything but now I see on their Instagram the same girl talking crap in front of the store is now bullying people trying to get clarification on pricing and again throwing shade at Local Fixture...exactly what I witnessed in person. Next time if you're going to talk crap about another business maybe don't do it in your work uniform on the street as everyone can hear your conversation walking by. Your character and how you conduct yourself matters as a small business. As you can see from how the owner replies to her customers on here it's everyone else that's the problem not them and apparently she's also cool with allowing her employees to do the same by belittling customers for asking simple questions on IG. Local fixture may be more expensive but the saying "You get what you pay for" is true and here you will find an owner and team that think they can act however they want and it won't catch up to them. Ended up walking down the street to Local Fixture for my gift and the shop was clean, neatly organized, and the customer service was exceptional. Do yourself the favor and don't waste your time here. Plus Local Fixture happens to be open according their business hours unlike this place. Hence why I started off the post stating I gave them multiple chances. read more
