A great store that's a huge (HUGE!) upgrade from the liquor store that preceded it at the location. Trading Post has all the goodies you're looking for. Besides a huge selection of liquors and non-alcoholic libations, they have a large variety of hard-to-find snacks, including potato chips from other countries and candies you may have thought were extinct. Went there this morning and when I first got there, there was a sign saying they would be back in 5 minutes. They did come back in 5 minutes and then I walked in. First off, the young man working there didn't even greet me. When he did come to the register, I gave him a scratcher and lotto ticket to redeem. He did the lotto ticket and then scanned the scratcher and told me he didn't have enough cash to give me since they just opened, which I understood. I asked if he had at least $40 and he said yes. I went to get a drink so I could get cash back and he told me I didn't need to buy anything to get cash back. So then he told me to tap my card and didn't tell me he charged me $3.69 in addition to my cash back. I realized this after I checked my bank account. I don't know what that fee was for, but for all I know I bought him a drink. Wish I would have at least gotten a drink for that fee or been told there would be a fee. ‍ No receipt given to me either. read more

This definitely a hidden gem in the city of Downey! Found this place just by chance driving home from work one night and decided to check it out. I've now been going there for any of my drinks. I have always been greeted as I walked in and the staff is very helpful. The lady who works there (believe her name is Alva/Elva) is so sweet and friendly. I bought a Belgium beer once and she remembered me the next time I showed up and she suggested a sweetish strawberry Belgium beer which was delicious & a Raspberry beer (woman made). I am so glad she suggested them to me. I would honestly recommend people check it out & if you don't drink they have snacks, candies, sodas, etc that some places don't have all together. Brought my parents here to purchase and cash in a couple of winning lottery tickets, which it's not the first time. And they had the worst experience again. This place sells lottery tickets and they never have money to pay the patrons their winnings. I mean small amounts too. Their explanation was that they did not have enough money in the register. Went there 7/23/23 at almost 6pm. The guy that worked there was on my husband and I the whole time! Definitely profiled us and made us feel uncomfortable. Granted, we were the only ones in the store at one point, but the employee made it a point to always be doing something around where we were just to see what we were doing.
