The grandsons had so much fun on the pony ride. It was a little extra but it was worth it.

it was super fun. So worth the money. Buy more than one bag of food. They come in little snack size baggies and they go quickly. And it's fun for the children to feed the goats and the cows and the horses one bag is not enough. On a side note, I accidentally left my credit card there and they held it for me.

A Hidden Gem in Montebello! The Montebello Barnyard Zoo is such a beautiful little gem in the heart of Montebello. It's located a beautiful Grant Rea park. There is plenty of parking for visitors. Prices are reasonable and go towards a good cause. You can ride the train, ride ponies and feed the animals for an additional cost. We started off our visit with a train ride. You get to see the ponies and animals. We also purchased animal feed and feed the goats and donkeys. They have chickens, rabbits, pigs and other animals to pet and/or see. The entire place is clean, charming, and perfectly for a family outing. They also have areas you can rent for birthday parties. It's also very reasonably priced, which makes it more enjoyable. If you're looking for a cute, relaxing place to visit, this little zoo is worth stopping by.

Noticed that baby seemed to like looking at animals, so we decided to take her to the petting zoo. I went to google and found the Montebello Barnyard Zoo. It was located near a park, so I figure it would be pretty small, but we went anyways. The park was buzzing with energy! Children running around, birthday parties everywhere you turn and lots of horses. We walked up to the big barn, paid for our admission (cheaper on Groupon), grabbed a bag of feed and took a look at all the animals. This petting zoo isn't as immersive as I thought, you can only feed and pet them through a fence. Which actually is good for children cause baby was actually quite scared of the animals. They have tortoises, chickens, a turkey, miniature horses, emus, alpacas, geese and ducks on display. The goats, sheep a cow and donkeys were available for feeding. Small little local petting zoo. Likely to spend about 30-45 minutes comfortably looking at animals.

for just $11, i got to pet pigs, cows, ponies, llamas, goats, etc. and see horses, turtles, rabbits, chickens, etc. great stress reliever for me. no time limit. pony rides for only little kids. 4/5

The zoo is nearby a park so you do have to walk a bit to get to the entrance. There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking. Admission is $9 per person but you may find a groupon deal for less. If you would like to feed the animals it's $3 for a bag of fees. They also have pony rides and train rides for extra fee. We saw 2 areas there both hosting birthday parties. Lots of different animals but you can't feed or pet all of them. You do get to feed goats and donkeys. The baby goats were soo cute and some roaming outside of the cages. It was a nice experience and looked like many families thought the same. Nice spot for the kids. Close by. Would come back.

2nd time being here. Nice little zoo with some great animals. For $3 a bag to feed the animals it's a great deal. The Groupon Deal is a good deal as well. It was a nice day today as well at the park. Lots of kids running around and families enjoying the animals. 5/5

    Remember to feed the cow!

Came on a Sunday morning and not busy. They take Groupon which is a great deal so look for it. All barnyard animals were present and even a baby goat roamed around the premises. If you enjoy feeding the animals, it's $3 a bag extra. Make sure to follow the rules to see which animals can be fed or not. Location is quite small and we were able to be done in an hour. Plenty of parking which is shared with the park.

Cute and clean. Plenty of animals to see. Would go back. Found them online and they had a Groupon.

This is a fairly small zoo but I enjoyed it for the price I paid. So it's normally $9 per person for entry and they sell food for the animals for $3 per bag (I bought two bags for two people). I used groupon and paid $7.50 for admission for two people so definitely check that first. They easily accepted the voucher with no issues. So you get to see a few different type of animals consisting of horses, miniature horses, goats, baby goats, cow, ducks, turtles, bunnies, and pigs. They allow you to feed half of these animals and honestly it's worth paying a few dollars to get food to feed the animals. You can probably visit the whole zoo in about 30 minutes to an hour. The animals were friendly and overall a fun experience. I don't know if it's worth $9 per person but if you can get a deal to come in then its definitely a fun little spot to spend an hour.

A little gem tucked away in the city of Montebello. The zoo itself is small but it's filled with an intimate experience with cool animals. The staff is very friendly and the animals are healthy and happy.

Had a great experience! Jason and Mickie we're super sweet and made our visit unforgettable! would definitely come back (:

I'm so happy I found this little zoo with barnyard animal because my daughter (age 2) loved it. It's a nice little place that you can get through quickly or take your time and spend a bit of time. They have a bunch of different animals as well as food pellets for sale that you can feed some of the animals. The animals were really gentle so my 2 year old could easily feed the animals herself although I assited her to be sure. A lot of people have complained about the parking being far. It was not that far, my 2 year walked it just fine. We will definitely be back soon.

Cute little petting zoo located in the back of Grant Rea Park. My daughter has been here a few times since she was 1 and she loves it. I love that she's not afraid to feed the animals there. The petting zoo also offer activities like riding the tractor, horseback riding, gold mining etc. Came here today 11/10 and saw some baby lambs. Come through asap so you don't miss all the cuteness! P.S. they always have groupon deals :)

I really only went for my two yr old to have fun. So I asked the front desk about tickets for the petting zoo & what rides & jumpers she'd be able to actually do, I didn't know she wouldn't need tickets for the petting zoo because she is only 2, only I would. but she knew & yet still tried to sell me the tickets or wristband (whatever it was) for the petting zoo over getting the 24 tickets for $40 (it just wouldn't have made sense when she added it up) if she maybe wanted to go on rides or a jumper, we'd need to purchase tickets for those but didn't need tickets for the petting zoo only I did. any who, I got the 24 tickets. The girl who was letting ppl in the petting zoo area was so freaking rude! I was trying to make it a great experience for my child & already spent $60 just walking in, & immediately get a rude person at the petting zoo. She let the gate slam shut on me & my 2 yr old when we walked up & I was like hi, are we able to go in? And she pointed at the sign, I'm like ok? I have tickets she's like & how old is she? I said, she's 2, she rolled her eyes & ripped however many ticket (I think 6) and let us in. Didn't say any rules about the animals or anything A random lady let me have the food she bought for the animals cause I guess the animals went crazy over it (didn't realize til I got the food from her) As soon as I got the food (with my 2yr old) the animals jumped on my child & instead of helping, the attendant yelled at us to do it away from her & to walk towards the back I didn't even have the food completely open yet & my daughter was screaming crying cause an alpaca & giant turkey jumped on her. Yet the lady just didn't want any of it near her.. never have I ever been to a petting zoo, where they didn't care about my child's safety!! I asked her if we were allowed to pet and/or hold the baby pigs, before I could even finish asking she said NO! I continued to try & finish my sentence & she just flat out said NO! again. I'm like ok...? I thought it was just me so I let a family member take my daughter back later & they didn't have a pleasant experience from the same girl. I also watched another family walk up & ask if they could go in & she pointed at the sign & walked away! Then, On our way out of the pumpkin patch, my sister in law & I were looking in a box full of pumpkins trying to pick out the ones she wanted & this lady who worked there started dumping more pumpkins in the box, on top of our hands like, hello! We're moving pumpkins to one side to grab a specific pumpkin & you just dropped those on top? I said out loud "that was rude" & another employee heard & she apologized for the other lady & she was very pleasant to talk to & helped us pick out a few pumpkins. Out of the entire place, we only came across 2 nice people! 2!!! I had 7 family members with me... I felt bad that we experienced that because I chose this place.

It was not too crowded, and there is a lot of parking on both the left and right side of the zoo, which made it easy. Before entering, there are many vendors selling food, hats, accessories, and children's toys. Children under 2 are free, ages 2 to 12 were $22, and adults were $27. I believe there is also a senior price, possibly around $24. We were able to go through the entire zoo in about 4 hours, and the kids spent some time at the playground, which was new to me since I had not been here in a few years. If you are going without children or with older kids, you could probably get through it faster. Some animals had been relocated to another zoo, and the elephants were not there, which was a bit of a bummer. We were told animals get put away about an hour before closing. I am not sure if that applies to all of them, since we still saw some animals out around closing time. We were able to bring in our own snacks and drinks, which was nice. They do have a few spots that sell food, drinks, ice cream, and other snacks, but they were a bit expensive for me. We did end up getting churros and shared them since they were really long and more than enough for my kids. Overall, it was a fun visit.

The LA Zoo is honestly a pretty nostalgic place for me because I've been coming here since I was a…read moretoddler, and there's still something special about walking through the park and seeing families enjoying the animals together. It's also a fairly large zoo with a lot of ground to cover and plenty of animals to see. That being said, I do feel like the quality of the zoo has gone downhill over the years which is why i awarded it 3/5 stars. There used to be far more exhibits and attractions consistently open, but over the past decade (possibly longer), it feels like every visit includes another closed exhibit, unavailable animal area, or ongoing renovation project. The recent removal and transfer of the Elephants of Asia made me especially sad, and even the petting zoo has remained closed for months now. Thankfully, not everything is negative. The zoo recently welcomed new chimpanzee, gorilla, and orangutan babies, which was genuinely exciting to see. Although I will say, for whatever reason, I feel like spotting the gorillas has become increasingly difficult every time I visit. But hey... if i was a gorilla, id avoid loud crowds too. lol. My personal favorite attractions are still the seals and the reptile exhibit. The zoo is definitely still a good place for families, especially if you have young children, but I highly recommend checking the weather beforehand because it can get HOT. There's decent shade throughout the park, but not many indoor areas with AC. My husband and I usually prefer visiting on weekdays because the traffic and crowds are much lighter. I also strongly recommend getting the membership if you plan on visiting more than once because honestly 2-3 visits practically pay for the membership itself. Plus, having a membership lets you take your time exploring instead of trying to rush through the entire zoo in one exhausting trip. If you need a break from the heat, the reptile house and wombat room are great places to cool down. Just keep in mind that the reptile room is pretty small and fills up quickly, and sometimes the wombat room is temporarily closed. There are several food spots and snack stands throughout the zoo, but honestly I usually prefer grabbing food from the vendors outside the park afterward. You'll typically find tacos, hot dogs, elotes, quesatacos, and other Mexican food options. Most of them also accept Zelle or Venmo now, which is convenient if you don't carry cash. One huge plus: parking is free and there's thankfully a lot of parking available. And this should probably go without saying, but wear comfortable shoes because there are definitely areas around the zoo with a decent amount of incline. By the end of the visit your calves will have their own testimony service. However, they do have electric wheelchairs available by the zoo entrance for those who don't want to brave a roundtrip off the zoo on foot.
