I've spent time in Buffalo so know my wings, and have found most wing joints on the west coast lacking. I won't go so far as to say Hot Mama's Wings are good by Buffalo standards, but the classic sauce here is plenty tasy, and the wings aren't overfried like in so many other places. My general thinking on the subject of wings is that if it's not using a Buffalo-style sauce, it's probably bad. Yet, a few flavors here are plenty good, and I'll always order one or two in addition to the classic sauce. Personally, I haven't tried anything other than the wings here, though my wife is fond of their coleslaw. The beer rotation is good as well, though tends to be IPA-heavy like most other joints in Eugene. Service has been good each time I've eaten here, and the wings have been consistently cooked. they have a drink here called a Pirate's Cove, where I'm from it's a Brass Monkey , but it's amazing whatever it's called. the service is delightful they remembered what I ordered from last time I was there. It's in a nice spot and has outside seating(plus) the atmosphere is great the dinner conversations are at a high volume because everybody is really enjoying their food. The service was informative AND friendly. Great atmosphere and the bacon maple wings were my personal favorite. The Bloody Mary was a meal all by itself! Went here tonight for my second time but my boyfriends first time. Told him about the giant burgers, he loved it. We got some Cajun tots and they were amazing. Way better than any other ones around town. Or waitress Alicia was awesome. I asked her if they had a good grilled cheese and she suggested the kids grilled cheese with an extra slice so I got cheddar and Swiss and just as she described, it was bomb. Last two times I had one at docs pad they burnt it so I've given up there. Alicia was an amazing hostess she came around just the right number of times, was never pushy, casual, friendly, energetic. Clearly had a strong work ethic I saw her serving drinks, bussing tables, taking orders by memory, and yet still was able to make it to every table for refills. We were there a few hours and had a friend meet us later. Then the guys got some beers and she could clearly tell that I wanted another Pepsi even though I said no earlier. I've been trying to not drink soda so when she asked if I was sure that I didn't want another It must have shown that I wished I could have another. It's great that she can pick up ok those cues for people who don't want to ask unless offered. But I passed and stuck to water. The food gets a 10/10 and if that isn't enough I would DEFINITELY come back to have such fantastic service. I really want the manager to know how lucky they are to have Alicia as part of their team she is truly exceptional. Hot Mama's Wings has some of the best wings in Eugene, the only reason for the low rating is because of their bad customer service. I went to eat and they charged me incorrectly. When I went to talk to the person who attended us he was very abrupt and rude in treating the manner. I didn't want to argue so I left paying extra. This made me a bit sad since I'm regular customer and there wasn't any initiation in wanting to try to fix the situation. This isn't the first time I've had somewhat of bad customer service here. They also take a while if they even come to check on you to ask for more water. After today I'm not sure if I will be returning. read more

We LOVE the wings here! Every time we come to town we always gets take out from Hot Mamas at least once!! Wings are always cooked perfectly and the variety of sauces are extremely delicious, I think we've tried them all! I love eating local and it's always better if it's small and cozy! I hate that my office right across the street because I love this place! Always many choices of good beer and I have never been let down by the food! My guilty pleasure is the Big Papa which is a cross between a party in your mouth and comfort food all at the same time! We were in the mood for wings so stumbled in here. We started off with some chicken fried bacon and fried cheese. Both were amazing. Don't skip the chicken fried bacon. The spicy maple dip they give you is especially pleasing. They had a lot of sauce choices for the wings. And they let you mix them which is nice. Out of the 3 sauces we had, I really was only crazy about one of them. The other 2 were good, just not fantastic. The service was good. It was quite crowded but we got served pretty quickly. Hot Mama's Wings is a fun place to eat, and great for kids. The tempeh "wings" are delicious. I really appreciate a place where vegetarians feel included... We get to pick from the full array of wing sauces and options, and it comes in the basket looking more or less like wings. The fried pickles are decadent and slightly spicy and completely addicting, and their tots and fries are predictably greasy and delicious and well. Update: I've downgraded from 5 stars to 4 because the quality of the tempeh wings has changed since I first tried them a couple of years ago. On my last few visits, they have been so strongly flavored and salty that it's hard to eat them. It tastes like they are less fresh, like maybe they have been pre-fried and seasoned and then they are fried again to have the sauce added, or something to that effect. Maybe my interpretation of the problem is wrong, but there has definitely been a change of some sort, and I miss the old way. They have 3 high chairs and the lively atmosphere was perfect to keep my toddler entertained (and just noisy enough that he didn't bother other people with his exuberance). It's a small place, though, so I'd definitely recommend going at an off hour if you don't want to wait for a table. read more

I love hot wings, and this place is pretty high on my list. Close to my work, so a great place to splurge for lunch. I have tried the medium regular and the garlic Parmesan wings. Next time I'll probably just stick to the regular. They have a pretty good lunch special for wings. My husband got a chicken sandwich slider, which he said was delicious. Today was my first experience with HMW and it definitely won't be my last. My husband and I called in a lunch order for carry-out: Mac -n- cheese with broccoli, an order of wings with chipotle-bourbon sauce and bleu cheese dressing, and a side of cole slaw. Everything was delicious. The mac was outstanding and stayed hot for a long time. The cole slaw was fresh and tasty and not runny or limp. Yum. I am a tot enthusiast and these were some of the best I've ever had. I would go back just for them. I ordered the veggie sandwich because of the goat cheese spread and it was good, but if I went back I would probably go all out and get a burger or the turkey bacon avocado. This place has the best wings. We had the hot wings and maple bacon wings, both sprinkled with bacon bits (Thursday special). The meat was moist and the seasoning was so good. We also had the pretzel to start. It's the best darn pretzel ever. The crust was chewy and a little sweet and inside was soft and warm. Cheese dip was perfect. My best friend and I visited Eugene for the first time last week, and I'd come back just to eat here again! You got to try it out if you're in town. My son found this place by searching wing places and it just so happened we were coming to Eugene anyway. He was determined to go "kamikazi" wings. The server was super fun, part of our experience. She guided us gently away from "kamikazi" and put us on the "insane". Plenty hot, hot, hot. If you love habenero flavor, (we do!) and you can handle some heat (we can with a jug of water on the table), these are the wings for you. But as a family of 4, we tried 4 different flavors. I mean, it doesn't say come in and eat buffalo wings.... we like variety. Garlic-parm, chipotle-bourbon and chile-lime and of course "insane". Who knew.... the wings tasted great, anyway ya cook em', and these guys know how to cook em'. Perfectly crisp so they suck up the sauce. Served with obviously hand crafted ranch and the onion rings were GD good! And then... the dessert. Now I swore I would never eat a deep fried snickers as long as I live, well cuz, I want to live. There is something about the whole idea that just is... well.... stupid, I mean heart attack stupid. But... my daughter talked us all into it and we agreed to split desserts up. Somehow eating less of it, made it all ok. Well, I'm here to tell ya, they ARE heart attack stupid, even served with butter cream. But.... they were unbelievably, crazy, stupid good.
