Save your money. $150+ for a disastrous experience. I had high hopes for Chiefs Brewhouse, but this visit was a total failure. Here is how our evening went: Wait Times: Promised 45 minutes, but we waited 90. Service: Non-existent. The staff never checked on us, not even to offer drinks. Food Quality: Everything was dumped on the table at once, so by the time we started eating, everything was cold. The prime rib was overcooked and cold, and the order was incorrect. Hygiene: We found a hair in the baked beans. Management: I reached out to management via email to discuss these failures and was completely ignored. No apology, no acknowledgment. The Philly Steak sandwich sounded good, but the brisket was not tender, the whole thing was pretty dry, and the only real flavor was beef and Swiss cheese. The side of fries had good flavor, but they were way over salted. The place was busy, with a lot of people understandably wanting to sit outside, so the wait time for food was pretty long. We had one of the worst visits the other night for dinner. There was a 45-1hr wait. That's fine we thought. Time goes by quickly with all there is to look at and visiting with eachother. Ordered at the front at you do, and I'm not sure if the staff was overwhelmed or busy or what but when we asked an allergy question and for something about the dish we got a very big sigh and treated like it was very inconvenient to even bother with such questions. I've ordered here many time before and never had someone react so sour. We finally settled on our meals and got a booth. Lots of empty booths and more seating available so was surprised how long the wait would be. We sat near where we could see the bar making drinks and the staff responses to multiple customers was embarrassing and unprofessional to see. I hope it was just an off night cause I felt like their attitudes towards customers for asking "where's the soda machine?" "Can I have a menu" etc was rude. They acted like it was a personal attack & didn't even look up to reply and just pointed "in the corner". I was cringing when I saw the interactions. Finally our food came out at about 50-55 min mark. The waitress handed us a salad and a SIDE of my dish I ordered expecting the whole dinner entree with toast and meat. Instead I got a sad side bowl of plain mac and cheese that had no toppings or Bread. We paid the $23 and Change entree price and had requested bacon. No one came back after we said something. It was a huge disappointment and a waste of money. Left hungry and let down by the whole evening. Now normally I hate to wire such a negative review, but this is simply how the evening went. I have been craving brisket lately, so while we were in Coburg for the night, I was happy to find this place located nearby. Hubby and I both went for the chopped brisket sandwich. I had a Lager and he had an IPA. The sandwich was only OK. The brisket wasn't very smoky and it was overly sweet. The bun held up well and the shoestring fries were very good. Other menu items looked good, but this is about the food I actually tried. We received a friendly greeting & service, but since we had our dog, we wanted an outside table. Unfortunately there were none, so Chico was relegated to the car. We quickly placed our order and paid at the counter, then took a number to a table. It took about 20 minutes before our food arrived. It was pretty busy for a Tue night. Maybe because they had a Taco Tuesday special. Inside seating is spread out and the tables were all big enough for 6 people. It's a very open space, so it was pretty loud inside. Nothing to really speak of about the ambience. Outside there is a fire pit and it was nice on the warm evening. Not sure that we will be back in Coburg anytime soon, so this was likely a one-time meal. Not good enough to make us pull off of I-5 when driving by. read more

This place is hitting all the right notes for us. Parking is easy for a large truck, there is plenty of shaded outside seating on the patio or under the trees. The interior is very rustic with hardwood floors, large windows and a western flair with cattlemen paraphernalia, wagon wheels and a miniature chuck wagon. The building looks to be a large Victorian that was converted ino a restaurant. The booths are huge! You could very comfortably seat ten people in one booth. We walk in and are greeted. The staff here are relaxed, casual and very pleasant. As you walk in you take a menu and choose where you want to sit. Have a table, peruse the menu and go order at the counter. You help yourself to soft drinks. There are mixed drinks available as well as beer. I ordered the Wapiti burger. It is an elk burger. It comes on a regular large burger bun with onions, pickles, cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. This burger is loaded. The flavor of the elk meat is perfect. It is exactly how elk is supposed to taste. It is not gamey and is milder in flavor than beef. This one came out with a perfect bit of char to really kick in the flavor. I keep catching myself saying 'wow' after every bite. The fries were hot and delicious. They have that coating that comes out not greasy and very crispy. These were also cooked fresh. Overall we feel that we definitely received a substantial amount of food for the cost. We got our money's worth. The overall atmosphere here is so pleasant and relaxing that we weren't in any hurry to leave. read more

We are totally disappointed that the number of poor reviews has not prompted the owners to take action. We ordered hot wings with French fries and Beer Cheese soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The wings were reheated likely in the microwave as my palate can tell. The Beer Cheese soup was weird. I have never tasted anything so weird. Not a flavor I would crave or like. The grilled cheese was good and the fries but $50 for grilled cheese and fries??? Seriously? We have eaten here on and off for years. After today's visit it is OFF permanents. We are from SE Alabama and here visiting family members. We had one of the best burgers of our life's here. I had the Jacked up burger & my husband got a chill burger, and our daughter has burnt ends sandwich. All fantastic!! I can't say enough how great the food way, and I'm not a big fan of burgers.. but the descriptions sounded so good, I couldn't resist. In reverse order there is a nice old fashioned feel to this restaurant/bar but the noise level is rather high. Would recommend sitting outside when the weather is perfect - like today. For lunch I ordered the Burnt Ends "Sammy" with a side of onion rings and a cup of Beer cheese soup. The sandwich was the right size and very good with the BBQ sauce. The soup, however, had an aftertaste that didn't taste right so I didn't finish it. All in all a good lunch for about $30 (with tip). Service is your order and pay first which is difficult to determine if you haven't eaten here before. Went with "wow" although the service is minimal. Went up to Coburg yesterday to visit Johnson Brothers Nursery. Ordered a Hamburger at the Chiefs Brew House. $16 hamburger was disgusting. How anyone calls that food I have no idea. I'm still pissed off at myself for eating it. I felt my health was completely violated. It was as bad or worse than any crappy fast-food burger which I never eat. My wife's parents have talked about this place many times and wanted to take us during one of our visits. They planned to take us there on this visit. Chief's used to be in a smaller building for years but moved into the much bigger house across the street. They also now have a location on Mohawk Blvd. in Springfield. We came here about 5:30pm on a Saturday and it was not too busy. The building is really cool with a large wrap around porch. When you walk in the order counter is right in front of you and the bar area is to the left. There are booths in the main entry area and the bar area as well as multiple booths and tables outside on the porch and around it. They also have a large firepit table outside which you can sit around. Most of us were not familiar with their menu so we stepped inside to grab a few menus and asked a few questions. We chose a table outside as we made decisions on our meals. We stepped inside and placed our food and drink orders ranging from nachos, salads, wings and Mac n cheese bowls. We also ordered two orders of onion rings for the table. Our food arrived in a timely manner and it all looked great. Everyone enjoyed their food. My wife and I wondered if this place was here about 7 years ago when we lived in the area. This is definitely a place we would have frequented. read more

We brought our friends here because we had been here before and had a really good experience. This time was not. For one, it is crazy expensive. Over $16 for a cheeseburger with mushrooms! But that is not all. Between the 4 of us we ordered a full order of nachos, a half order of nachos, cheese curds, and a swiss mushroom burger, requesting the Swiss be switched out for pepper jack. They delivered the nachos correctly, and the burger has Swiss instead of pepper jack. They did not bring the cheese curds. The waitress was super sweet, and said she had to go in and double check. She came back and confirmed they had put Swiss on the burger instead of pepper jack and forgot the cheese curds. She took the burger back and said she would be back with the correct burger and the cheese curds. While every other person was eating the nachos, the person with the burger waited. Finally the correct burger came out, but not the cheese curds. We waited. We all finished our food and the cheese curds never came. So one of the people in our group went in to ask about them, and they had forgotten about the cheese curds AGAIN. Finally we got them as we were leaving. Most restaurants with this kind if terrible service would have given the cheese curds for free, or discounted something, but they did nothing. They didn't apologize or give any form of discount. read more

Can't believe how long it's been since I updated my initial review, it is way out of date. We've been here quite a few times since my first review and since Chiefs relocated across the street and it really has found its groove. The options are plentiful, the vibe of the old Victorian-style farmhouse is great (dark wood, country feel) and outdoor seating is really nice. They've done really well. It's somewhat self-service and table service style. The burgers are good, chicken is good, sides are good. I've had a few mixed drinks and they are yummy too (unfortunately I think maybe there is less alcohol in them than there should be if I can't really taste it). We have looked at their second floor event space that we may consider for future larger parties (separate bar if needed and the separate spaces). As compared to my first review, I now find myself excited about going to Chiefs. Well done. read more

Short: Good tasting BBQ and Sides, service was sub-par, a little pricey. Visited week of July 26th 2022. When I arrived, it wasn't clear what was the front entrance. However, the restaurant was beautifully decorated with rodeo western items. When I came inside, there was a huge counter and a team of workers behind it. One eventually came up to the ipad register, and asked if I was ready to order. I briefly viewed some of the menus behind the counter and on the counter. I was asked if I wanted a menu and if I wanted to take a seat at a table. It wasn't clear however, if I was going to be greeted by a server to take my order or had to go back to the counter. Based on the looks of the workers (hiding behind the counter), after waiting for about 5 mins (My friend and I were the only ones in the front seating area), I proceeded to head towards the counter. We ordered, and I asked if she would suggest the tots or onion rings, she said onion rings, and I got those as a side. We waited about 15 mins and the server was quick. Too quick where I didn't even get to ask about my BBQ sauce. (I later found out she was supposed to leave a half hour ago, but still.. no BBQ sauce?) After I got my food, I tried to find a server. Eventually, there were two behind the counter. One ignored me, and the other eventually looked at me. I mentioned I didn't get my BBQ sauce and asked for the ones I had previously mentioned to the other server. After about oddly, 5 mins wait at least to get 2 cups of sauce. [The food]: I ordered the "BBQ dinner" ($22) with tri-tip (+$4). My two sides were onion rings and creamy Mac n Cheese. I specifically asked for "Alabama white BBQ sauce" and "Honey Bourbon BBQ." My friend ordered the "Brisket sandwich" with fries. The tri-tip was beautifully cut but a little dry. But not tough or uncomfortably chewy. The onion rings were solid and tasty. It wasn't overly oily or greasy fried taste, nor mushy. The mac n cheese! I really recommend it, and it was hot, soo creamy, and cheesy! The Brisket sandwich was made with the burnt tips of brisket, which was flavorful and covered with BBQ sauce. The bun was soft but pretty much store-bought, with no extra sauce. The funny part was that a piece of brisket would fall with each bite. Fries were similar to Wendy's fries in terms of shoestring shape and rustic potato cut. Our meal totaled about $43 (tip not included). We didn't purchase any [alcoholic] drinks. The sauces, personally, honey Bourbon BBQ was the best; it had that lovely sweet bourbon taste but was not overly sweet. I tried another honey BBQ it was good, but a little bit runny. Alabama white BBQ was really interesting. Their regular BBQ sauce was a solid sturdy bbq sauce, but I definitely prefer the Honey Bourbon BBQ sauce. I really wished they labeled their BBQ sauce bottles because I had no clue which. [Minus the Alabama white]. I wanted to give 4 stars, just wish the meat was not as dry and cooked a bit better. But it wasn't so dry that it ruined the taste, so I am grateful for that. Along with, Service could have been better. While I could understand college kids and it being after the lunch rush, but still.. Overall, would perhaps stop by for the BBQ and Mac N cheese (definitely if I were to visit again). read more
